Entire PDF file lost

I'm working in Acrobat 11.0.6. I worked on editing 196 page pdf document over the past few days. Saving it each time I finish. Today I tried to open the file using "recent files". The name of the file shows up, but when I click on it a get an error message that the file cannot be opened because it doesn't exist. I've searched through Finder every way possible and it is as if it simply vanished. This is a book I have worked on over a year and was opening the file to today to send it to the publisher. Needless to say...I'm desperate for help~Thanks

Unfortunately I checked those...I realized tonight that the update to the OS was done last night. I recall seeing the message that the computer had been restarted and successfully updated overnight. Grasping for straws, but I have to wonder if that had anything to do with it. I have opened and worked on that file several times a day over the past week. Nothing unusual happend such a the program freezing etc yesterday. Just the normal "save" and close Acrobat when I was done...losing this much work is difficult to fathom.

I am creating some forms in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES, and saving them as PDF files.
Everything is OK, but I need to receive the entire pdf file back, with the forms filled, and not just a xml file.

The application Acrobat provides no language translation capability.
If you localize the language for OS, MS Office applications, Acrobat, etc to the desired language try again.
Alternative: transfer a copy of content into a web based translation service (Bing or Google provides a free service).
Transfer the output into a word processing program that is localized to the appropriate language.
Do cleanup.

Why have my pdf files lost the Adobe pdf icon? Please help.

Hello all.
In transfering pdf files from my old PowerBook G4 to my new MacBook Pro, half of the pdf files now have a blank page as an icon. Also, all pdf files that I now create through print in Safari are blank. Nevertheless, all of these files open properly with Adobe Reader. This is the only type of file that lacks a proper icon. Why has the proper icon been lost & how do I solve this problem?

When you transfer files from another computer or over an FTP site or email, some of the info is sometimes lost. It's actually pretty rare from computer to computer but just about always happens on Internet transfers, although those mostly lose their icons.

Acrobat 9 PDF files lost when importing a PST file in Office Mac 2011

When one imports an MS Outlook data file created in either Outllok 2007 or 2010 (a PST file) into Outlook for Mac 2011, PDF's made in Acrobat 7 or earlier are imported as are those made on a Mac.
However, any PDF file attachment made in Acrobat 9 is removed (not imported) into Outlook 2011 for Mac.
If anyone has any great thoughst on this, they would be welcomed as I have given up after 20 hours of work and research. In the absence of any 'fix', l may have to set up a temporary MS Exchange account and export to a server and back again.

1. It might be the difference between the Home and Student versions and the Home and Business versions. You need to ask the educational institution you're getting it through what the difference between the two options they are offering is.
I've used Office for Mac for a long time. There are some differences in the applications themselves, they're minor and it should serve you just fine.

Converting an entire PDF file to JPEG

I have a 32 page file to convert. If I go to the print option and do save as, only one page is saved as a JPEG. It seems like there has to be a way to get the entire file to convert to JPEG.
If I send to IPhoto, a white box/frame is around each page. This does not happen if I would save one page at a time as a JPEG.

Ultrasearch full index the pdf file

Is it possible to index the entire pdf file. The cost/storage may be high, but we only have couple thousand pdfs. What we would like to do is index every single word in the pdf, even including "and", "the" etc...

OUS indexes the whole content of a document, only exception I know are the words contained in a stop list. Therefore, IMHO, you should simply define your own stop list.
IIRC you can define the stop list only when the instance is created. Therefore you cannot apply a new stop list to an existing instance.

Problems with fast web view and really large PDF files.

If "allow speculative downloads in background" is set then the Fast Web view becomes nonfunctional. Reader is makeing the HTTP Byte range requests but will ask for almost the entire PDF file in one range (180 MB of the 182 MB file).
If "allow speculative downloads in background" is not set then Fast Web view is working fine, Reader is making more HTTP Byte range requests but the larges ones are still small 20K or so.
Is this behavior being experianced by anyone else?
What are the disadvantages, if any, of having "allow speculative downloads in background" turned off?
My environment:
182 MB pdf file (Optimized) around 41,000 pages. I have also seen this with 42 MB and 25 MB pdf files.
IE 6
Reader 9.2
Apache webservers (On Solaris Apache 1.3.20 and Linux Apache 2.0)

Hi,
The signing tool use Capicom (Library from .NET) to generate attached digital signature. I also tried signing with .net class SignedCms but the result is the same. What I don't understand is why some PDFs are working and others are not.
For example, I uploaded here a signed PDF which can be opened up succesfully: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/104591126/PDFs/Signed_Dummy1.pdf (it is the same PDF but I didn't enable the fast web view)
Can you suggest other signing method?

How to Print The Entire Course as PDF file from "The Sun Learning CD-ROM"

Is anyone able to print entire course as PDF file? I'm currently learning Solaris 10 OS and trying to print the full course/module on CDS-200-S10: Intermediate System Administration for Solaris 10 Operating System CD but unsuccessful.
It seems like I can only print individual page from each module. I have Adobe Acrobat installed on my system. Your helps is greatly appreciated.

When adding a PDF file to a New Message in Mail it does not show up as an icon link, the entire document appears. How can you attach a PDF without the entire document displaying itself?

After scanning a document, I save the file in a PDF format. When attaching the PDF file to a New message it appears on the entire page instead of a PDF icon link that the recipient can click on to open. Why can't I get the PDF file to appear in a icon format? Thank you.

After installing Acrobat 9.4 I lost the choice to save or open a pdf file. How do I fix it?

When using Acrobat 4.05 or 5.0 I was given a choice to open a pdf file or save the file. When I updated to Acrobat 9.4 I lost that option. It always opens the file with some different file name. If I disable the plug in Firefox does nothing. No save or open.

You can see if you find an action in "Tools > Options > Applications" and change the setting for PDF files to always ask.

Updating large pdf file on multi devices but do I have to download the entire file every time?

So I have a pdf file that is 500mb (already on acrobat.com cloud) and I want to read this across tablet, desktop, and phone. I will be updating this file bit by bit on every one of those devices. Does this mean that every time I want to see the updated version I have to wait for a download of 500mb? Because that is just ridiculous!

Lost ability to open pdf files in Safari and Flash Player upgrade is not recognized.

Since two days ago, when I responded to a Zynga game instruction on Face Book to upgrade to the newest version of Flash Player, I lost the ability to open the game but more importantly I can't open pdf files any more either. All pdf files in Safari open as jibberish BUT they still work correctly in Firefox and Preview. Please help.

Thanks for letting those who come here for help know that my navigation instructions are wrong on a PC with iTunes 11. The issue though is computer independent and relates to iTunes 11. When the device and iTunes quit syncing back and forth, there is potential for data loss. When trying to manually update, the iTunes library wants to replace the contents of the device with the library. That is not a problem if the content is complete. I had a situation where multiple pdf documents were added to iBooks from sources other than iTunes and were failing to sync back to iTunes. I had a choice, let iTunes replace the contents of my device and lose my pdf's or figure out a way to get my documents off the device and add them back. I chose the later, emailing them from iBooks to my computer. I then synced my iTunes library to the device replacing its contents. I added back my pdf's by dropping them into iTunes and synced. I have not experienced the problem since. My device and iTunes are now syncing with each other properly, including wirelessly.

For clarity, when referring to the "actual book" versus the "entire iBA file", do you mean
(a) actual book: text only
(b) entire iBA file: resources other than text (eg images, videos)
When creating a PDF from any kind of document (iBA, Word, etc) you generally get two main options.
1. To create a PDF from all pages in the file, which of course includes all text, images, videos, audio etc
2. To print to PDF, which allows you to specify pages. Obviously if the pages you specify also contain images and video for example, they'll come across in the PDF created too. There's no way around that. Images look great. Video just a black area on the page usually - it's static in PDF form afterall :)
You mention that earlier PDF versions of your book are more in keeping of what you want. My first thought when reading this was that your book now has more resources added to it than earlier stages of development, as one would expect!
I would suggest trying to be precise in your descriptions of exactly what you want to be included in a PDF copy of a file created in iBA rather than just repeating generic terms in successive posts.
