Entire table disappeared in Numbers checkbook - HELP!
I set up a simple checkbook for my 75-year-old (more or less computer illiterate) wife to use in managing an internal account. She's spent hours transferring handwritten ledger entries into it. All seemed to be working well. Shortly ago, she attempted to add a new row to the checkbook table (Enter with cursor in last cell). For some unknown reason the resulting "default" balance (as no entry had yet been made in the new row) instead of being identical to that of the previous row was double that amount. When she attempted to remove the newly-created row (she may have pressed Cmd-Delete) the entire table disappeared from the screen (without warning or any "Are you sure?"). Next wrong move — she closed the document and almost certainly told it save changes. Not surprisingly, when I open the document I get the same thing: The only thing showing is the title of the document and the "Account Categories" table (with no values showing; if I click the red arrow I get an "invalid reference" message.
So far so bad. Worse yet, it seems that CC Cloner failed to back up the document last night — so the only existing backup is of the first few lines of entry.
HOWEVER: The document DOES have quite a lot of data in it (or so it would seem). If it is force-opened (All Files) in either Excel or Text Wrangler it comes up with many screens of gibberish.
I hope someone knows some magic trick for getting that table back — otherwise, one of us is going to have to re-enter about 75 lines of transactions.

Apple OS X does have that now, as of Lion. Mountain Lion further enhanced and tuned the autosave/versions features.
If your computer is too old to run Lion, there may be third party apps to do it, if they haven't all been updated.

I want to convert a series of names into a table (in either numbers or pages). The list I have has a name and then an email address in brackets, followed by a 'yes' or a 'no'. I would like to separate the list into three columns - the first containing the name, the second containing the email address and the third containing the 'yes' or 'no'.
Can you help me ?The question that needs to be answered is what is separating the columns? Is it a single tab, one or more tabs, spaces, or what? Or is it the brackets that makes the separation between the three pieces of data?
If it is always a single tab, that makes it really easy. All you have to do is find/replace the brackets with nothing (as Wayne said)
If it might be multiple tabs, you can find/replace tab-tab with a single tab and repeat that a few times until no more double-tabs are found.
If it is one or multiple spaces, that might be difficult. I'll think about this one if this is what you have. I'll ignore this possiblility for now.
If it is the brackets separating the three pieces of data, you would Find/Replace the left bracket with a tab then do the same with the right bracket. -

This is probably because this FM is doind a commit work and hence the cursor connection the DB gets deleted.

We are able to do download small amount of data successfully but the problem is with huge volume of data say for millions of records we can't read and store it in internal table as it is exceeding the memory and eventually going for dump.
If we use cursor or field symbols then if inside loop if we call that MS Access download FM the it is doing a database commit operation and that is closing the cursor. In the next run of the loop, it is going for run time error as commit inside loop throws run time exception in ABAP environment.
Looking for your help in this issue.

How do I sort a selection, not the entire table?
I have a spreadsheet in numbers that I only need to sort a selected section, not the entire table. In the previous version of numbers, it allowed 'sort selected range', but I can't find that in the newer version. When I have the selection outlined, the entire table sorts -- ??

Nobody here in the Discussions has reported finding a way to sort selected rows, as was possible in Numbers 2.3. It seems that it was just left out of the new version to streamline the interface.
The workaround would be to structure your Tables such that content requiring separate sorting would be in a separate table.

Row level trigger updating the entire table instead of affected rows
I am using orace 8.1.7. My problem is I have a row level trigger that should fire only once ( and insert a row in my auditing table). But it is doing it for the entire table. This only happens when I have more than two columns in an Update clause. Has anyone run into this problem before. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Table and figure numbering in multi-chapter book
Using InDesign CC 2014 I am editing a book that consists of 23 chapters. Each chapters are added to the book separately. There are 5 levels of titles, level 1-4 is numbered (first level is the chapter title), the 5th is not.The numbering of the titles in chapters works very well, but I have problem with numbering of figures and tables.
The numbering of tables and figures should look like this: Table 1.1., 1.2., etc, Figure 1.1., 1.2., etc. The first number is always the chapter number, the second is the number of table/figure in order - within the chapter. I want the second number to re-start in each chapter. But if I select "continue from the previous number" (or something like this - I have Hungarian version, tried to translate to English), the numbering does not re-start with each new chapter, however gets the correct ^H number. If I select "start", all tables and figures will be ^H.1.
My question is: what should I do on one hand to be able to use (and sync) all formats (including tables' and figures' captions with numbers) in the whole book, in the same time making the figures' and tables' numbering having ^H followed by a number re-starts in each chapter? For this, the table and figure number should be which level on the list? What to do with "restart numbering at this level after" option?
I have searched the www from A to Z and back but could not find the answer. Please, help me! Oh, and please, write the how-to description step-by-step (maybe illustrated?), as I use Hungarian version, which makes applying the suggestions a bit difficult. That is precisely what my mid-2010 MacBoook Pro 13 was doing before the drive finally died after an Apple Genius rebooted it a dozen or so times. I have since read about the exact same thing happening to others, including a writer for The Atlantic magazine who had never had an issue with a Mac before. Do a back-up ASAP to make sure you don't lose anything and see about replacing the HDD. It is only about $140 for a new drive. The real issue is if you lose your data, too. So, make sure you do that back-up!

I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?! -
How can I delete part of my message or forward part of it? I only see an option that allows me to delete the entire message.... Help please
hold your finger on the part of the message you want to delete. This will give you the copy and more option. Choose more, and then you will be able to choose the message or messages you want to delete. Once selected you will be able to tap the trash can icon on the bottom of your screen.

RH11 - Cuts off tables when I generate review PDFs. How do I get it to include the entire table?
We just upgraded from RH9 to Rh11. I'm using the Create PDF for Review... option on the Review menu. I have several two column tables in the topic I'm sending for review. The PDF cuts off half of the second column in the tables. We didn't have this issue with RH9. Has anyone else had this problem with the PDF review feature in RH11? Can you tell me why it's doing this & how to fix it?

I started using RH 11 recently, and I am experiencing the same issue as CathyR-Fico reported: when generating the PDF output, RH keeps cropping some of my tables.
NOTE: some of my table cells contain long non-breakable text strings such as TimeoutInsightServerUpDisconnectedCheck. Can't avoid that.
I looked into the table properties and ensured that my table width is 100%, and adjusted the individual column width % to make sure that the total does not exceed 100%, but my tables are still cropped in PDF.
Here is a passage from the RH 11 User Guide, Create a PDF for review section: "Tables, images, and other elements that do not fit in a page are cropped." I keep checking my HTML preview now and then - all of my tables fit into the HTML help window. But the PDF output looks otherwise:( I tried the AutoFit feature as well - won't help:(
My question is: Is there any other way to ensure that my tables fit into any output page, be it PDF, Word or HTML?
