Entourage 2004 - Authentication Dialog Box

Hello there,
After clicking Entourage 2004 (connecting to an Exchange Server 2007) from the Dock, it launches and presents the authentication/security dialog box (Account Information) to authenticate. If you click Cancel, you are practically bypassing the authentication process while still reading any off line e-mails and what not.
Is it possible present the authentication/security dialog box before opening Entourage, so if the credentials are right, Entourage should open, if not it should quit to protect E-mail/Calendar/Contacts...
Are there any other means to secure Entourage?
Thank you

Further testing has implicated the use of the Yosemite San Francisco Font from 'wellsriley' at GitHub. Placing the display version of the font into the ~/Library/Fonts folder will trigger the problem. Removing the font will immediately end the problem.
'wellsriley' notes that "System Alert dialogs render as [a-in-a-box] when installed improperly", meaning if the fonts are installed into the ~/Library/Fonts folder. This problem was not evident in 10.10.1 from my experience. Instead, it is advised by the developer to only install the fonts into the root /Library/Fonts folder.
My solution for now is to simply remove the fonts and not use them. Problem solved.√

  • Corrupt authentication dialog box in 10.10.2

The OS X 10.10.2 update has resulting in corrupt authentication dialog boxes. All characters in the boxes have been replaced with the letter 'A' surrounded by their own box. This is universal throughout the OS. A simple way to see this situation is to go to the Utilities folder and attempt to make a new folder. The authentication box pops on the screen but is entirely unreadable, every letter being an A in a box.
I've done a reinstall of 10.10.1 then re-update to 10.10.2 with the exact same results. The volume being used is only for testing Yosemite and for repairing my main boot volume, which runs Mavericks. Therefore, there isn't much alteration of the volume beyond a clean installation.
Dumping user and system cache then restarting makes no difference. I've checked the volume with both Disk Utility and Disk Warrior and found no problems.
The image below is the authentication box that appears when attempting to change something in the Utilities folder:
    Background:
    - The problem is on a MacBook Pro 15" from August 2013 with 16 GB of RAM.

  • How to disable Java Plug-In authentication dialog box ?

    Hi,
I'm using SSL connection with client authentication. Certificate is on hardware device.
I'm providing keystore with cert for SSLContext in my app programmatically.
When I run it from console (java -jar) it works ok.
*When I use it as an applet i get browser prompt (popup dialog) for client certificate.*
How to disable it ? (jre 1.5.0_12 + Firefox + Linux Ubuntu)

-how do you code the access to the keystore ? You have several solutions : SSLContext.init(km, tm, random), or System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", value), or implement a KeyManagerFactory. Everything is said in the guide : http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/security/jsse/JSSERefGuide.html
Last solution, running java -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStore=yourkeystore -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword=yourpassword , but it could not work in applet mode.
-I told you to check the policy, because applets usually have less rights. In the link you said, check such permissions :
    FilePermission, SSLPermission (getSSLSessionContext)
-don't forget rewarding duke stars if that was the right answer :)

  • IS it possible to obtain the username from a authentication  dialog box?

Kind of simple question and I'm looking for a simple answer. Is it possible to obtain the username from the dialob box during java web start or not?

I'm not really sure what you are asking but if you look at the Javadoc of System.getProperties() you will find a property named 'user.name' .

  • Proxy Authentication dialog box displayed very often

    Hello,
since iOS 8.0 / 8.02 our iPads displays very often (somtimes more than 3 times a minute) for proxy authentication credentials.
    We tried it with
    - a payload in our Apple configurator (wifi) profile with automatic proxy config http://proxy/proxy.pac
    - a manual configuration without profile and manual stored credentials and manual proxy configuration in the wifi connection
I think the manual configuration is a little bit better, but still inacceptable.
With iOS 7 and the same iPad and same apple configurator profile we don't have this problems.
    Every help is appreciated.
    Thanks

  • How do I log off the current user and bring back the authentication dialog box for another user to log in on Iplanet webserver?

    I am using JSP.

    Hey there Mike Novack,
My understanding is that she replaced the Windows Login with a fingerprint swipe correct? I found some instructions surrounding this here
So that we can best direct you through the process what operating system are you using on your T61?
If you are using Windows 7, try going to the control panel, then to the biometric devices, click the option to change your biometric device settings and you should be able to disable it there.

  • Can't change default user name on Authentication dialogs

Due to a corrupt user account, I had to create a new user account. I specified a "2" at the end of my full name i.e. "Full Name 2" because I couldn't use the same full name as the corrupt account.
I still haven't deleted the old corrupt one yet just in case I need something, however, now that I am using the new account I renamed the new account to "Full Name" without the "2" at the end of it, but for some strange reason OS X still uses "Full Name 2" on the authentication dialog boxes.
Just to summarise, I do not have an account called "Full Name 2" anymore - I've even updated the contact record - and when I get asked to authenticate via a dialog box, the name defaults to "Full Name 2".
Not sure why it's still doing this and how do I get rid of it - I just it to default to "Full Name".
At the moment I can login with both "Full Name" and "Full Name 2".
I tried deleting some preferences and re-log back in - but this didn't do the trick, but admittedly I may not have trashed the right ones.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

First, I create a new user account via System Preferences -> Accounts. I gave it a different account name and I entered the same full name. It rejected it saying the full name was already in use, so I renamed the full name to "Full Name 2" just to I can create the account.
Then, I logged in to the new account. Tested it, set it up how I wanted it.
Then I logged back in to the old faulty account, and renamed the full name from "Full Name" to "Full Name OLD". I did this via Accounts. I simply double clicked the old account and the edit window showed up. I just renamed the full name field.
I then edited the new account, and renamed the full name field from "Full Name 2" to "Full Name". Since the original account now had a different name, I was now able to rename the new account to the desired name, i.e. without a "2" in it.
However - now it shows a 2 in the default account name whenever I need to authenticate something.

  • Popping up a dialog box on client side for authentication in a proxy server

    Hi Mac Folks,
Thank you for your support. Entourage works great for 1 user (wife) on the MBP, and myself... well I haven't been able to open Entourage for about 4 weeks.
After reading other posts on this matter, and I'm asking for some assistance on this issue. It seems that I may have to remove old files????

    Hey y'all helpful folks,
O.K. Since Episode #1 of "Entourage Won't Open For The Big Bald Guy (BBG)(me), I have tried the following processes to help narrow down the search for the issue:
    1) Per Tech-101 guidelines (this disussion group), I purchased the 2 factory CDs for my MBP's serial # and transferred its ownership to me. Hit 'D' on reboot, ran the Apple Hardware Test. Looked up the error I received and discussion groups said it's not a problem. Uh... "Left_Upper-??? error.
    2) While re-booting with the new factory CDs, it would not let me select a disk so I could perform the Archive and Install (??) feature. I wonder is it's because I am already at 10.4.11, and the new CD is a lower version??
    3) I have removed all my Entourage preferences, and added them back a few at a time. With many re-boots of the MBP and re-starts of Entourage.
    4) I have ran the Mac combo update. Then when I tried to start Entourage, I got a different dialog box telling that Entourage couldn't find certain shared Microsoft tools, and that I should reload Office 2004. so I did.
    5) Have update_prebinding about 6 times from another boot drive
Still, my wife's Entourage userID has no problem. But this big bald guy's user ID has gotten no email from Entourage for over 6 weeks. All my work files are not accessible. No access to Contacts. HELP... HELP... help...
So the following is the latest EXCBADACCESS Problem Report.
    6) Am I correct to assume that 'LaunchCFMApp' has a problem and there are no symbols??
6.5) I have no idea what I'm talking about, so would someone please tell me where to get the file it wants and where to put it (ha).
    Here's the report...

  • Save As dialog box opens random location

I have been trying to save some attachments from my emails in entourage, but whenever it brings up the save dialog box, the default finder location is completely random. It is not based on my last known location, nor a default 'Desktop' or 'Documents' folder. It will change every time. I can save 3 emails in a row and they will all open in different locations....
    oddd....
    any thoughts?

I too am having the same issue, in every program. Whenever I have a save dialog box open, it picks a completely random location to save it to, which becomes quite old when you have to save multiple files back-to-back in the same location. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Has anyone else seen this dialog box graphical phenomenon?

    Hi,
I'm running 10.5.4 on a MacBook Pro (4,1) and have noticed a strange effect on some dialog boxes in Leopard - darker grey blocks appear around text, controls and buttons within the dialog box. The effect occurs on both the MacBook Pro display and the Cinema Display it is connected to.
See the following links for examples:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/jammylammy/2732289268
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/jammylammy/2735071703
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/jammylammy/2738394376
So far it appears in dialog boxes from Entourage, Photoshop & Illustrator (both CS2 & CS3) and iTunes. I initially thought it was only occuring in PowerPC apps running under Rosetta but iTunes is a native Intel app.
Not all dialog boxes are affected - it doesn't appear in Safari, for example:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/jammylammy/2735078907
The boxes are still perfectly usable and it doesn't appear to be a monitor brightness issue as it occurs whatever the brightness setting. I wondered if it was related to the Nvidia graphics card issue (the Macbook Pro is fitted with a GeForce 8600M GT 512MB graphics card) but haven't been able to find any mention of this on these forums or through a wider Google search.
Has anyone else come across this strange phenomenon?
    Thanks!
    John

    ...strange phenomenon...
Isn't this just a situation where some apps' code is written differently than others?
It may well be yes. After more searching I found a similar thread here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7638343&#7638343
It may well be something as simple as Apple changing the default background colour for dialog boxes slightly. What puzzles me about that explanation is that the 'effect' occurs in iTunes 7.7 which was released just weeks ago - whereas Leopard's been out in the wild since last October.

  • Avoiding authentication dialog with Plugin1.4

I need to open a URLConnection to a secure part of a webserver, and I get an login dialog box prompting for a username and password, first from the browser, and then from the plugin.
Is there any way of integrating the browser's authentication with the Plugin ??
I tried the "cache_option=Browser" applet parameter but it does not change anything.
I know this is a pretty old story, but if anybody has found a workaround, or has any suggestion, please help !

    Hi,
Have a look to this thread I just have fixed the same problem, good luck

  • Entourage 2004 can't print (command-P)

Noticed today that I can't get the print menu to show up in Entourage 2004 (I'm legacy Palm/Entourage sync user). I've tried restarting the computer...but I wonder if it has to do with the security update installed yesterday. Doesn't affect printing from other apps...and I still have as a crude workaround the "Print One Copy" option from the menu with default settings.
    Anyone have experience with this?

Security Update 2012-001 Bricks Rosetta programs
I've outlined the restore proceedure here, it covers a lot of bases and explains what is going to occur so please don't be intimidated it's a LOT easier that it appears.
Take your time and comprehend the steps involved and you'll be backup up like before in short order.
    Restore method.
#1 Backup your personal data off the machine.
Backup files off the computer (not to TimeMachine). If you don't have a external drive, get one and connect to the USB/Firewire port and simply drag and drop copy your User folder to the external drive, it will copy all your files. It's best to have two backups of your data off the machine when trying to restore.
Disconnect all drives now to prevent any mistakes from occuring.
#2 Try Restoring from a TimeMachine or hold option bootable clone
If you have TimeMachine drive, or a hold the option key bootable clone use that to erase and restore from before the Security Update occured.
Obviously if you didn't make a recent backup before the update, your going to have to skip to Step #3.
Note: A TM restore can take a awfully long time, a clone restore takes under 2 hours in most cases.
If you don't know how to restore from TM drive
    http://pondini.org/OSX/Home.html
    #3 Reinstall OS X 10.6 from disk
If no recent TM or bootable clone then:
Get out your 10.6 install disk and make sure it's clean and polished (very soft cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol, no scratches) If your disk is borked, you'll have to order a new one from Apple with your serial number.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk (wired keyboard, internal optical drive), use Disk Utility First Aid to >Repair Disk and Permissions  (do not format or erase!!), Quit DU and simply re-install 10.6.
Note: Simply reinstalling 10.6 version from disk (without erasing the drive) only replaces 10.6.8 with 10.6.x and bundled Apple programs, won't touch your files (backup anyway)  or most programs, unless they installed a kext file into OS X itself. (only a few on average do this)
Note: If Disk Uitlity can't repair the drive, then come back to seek further assistance and make sure you have a copy of your data off the machine.
#4 Update to 10.6.8 without Security Update 2012-001
Reboot and log in, update to 10.6.8 via Software Update, but EXCLUDE THE Security Update 2012-001 by checkinig the details and unchecking the blue check box.
#5 Reinstall any non-working third party programs
When you reboot, make sure to reinstall any programs that require kext files installed into OS X, you'll know, they won't work when you launch them or hang for some reason.
If for some freakish reason you get gray screen at any time when booting (possible it might occur when you reinstall older programs), hold the shift key down while booting (Safe Mode, disables kext files) and update your installed third party software so it's compatible with 10.6.8.
    https://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570
Note: For most users likley Step #3 and #4 is likley all that is needed to be done.
    That's it really.

    Unverified hacks
Note: You may see a "hack" for this issue floating around, it has had mixed results as people's software is different.
You may want to try it, but it's at your own risk. It has worked fast for some and not at all for others, hopefully over time it will work for all.
The above methods I outline are Apple approved restore methods + based upon experience here and not a quick fix, but are sure to work as Apple recommends such steps themselves.
If at any time you feel this is beyond your capability, please seek local Mac/PC professional assistance before you lose your data.
In fact my steps above are very simple, you might want to have a family member or friend perfrom the proceedure in about a hour or two.
If you don't have any backup, please maintain at least a TM drive, just hook up a new blank external drive and TM will ask you to make a backup, takes some time so let it work.
If your a bit more skilled, a option bootable clone is much superior than TM drive.
    Good Luck

  • Filter Enterprise Resources Dialog Box

    Hello,
Today, after create new Enterprise Resource (Actually we have 2004 Enterprise Resource) when I try to add Resource in Project Professional 2010 using Build Team from Enterprise... show me a Dialog Box named "Filter Enterprise Resource" for to filter
the resource. My question is if exist a way for this dialog box not show me and show me directly the window Build Team for "Project"
    Thanks for your answers

    Christian --
Microsoft Project Professional 2010 displays the Filter Enterprise Resource dialog automatically when you have 1,000 or more resources in your Enterprise Resource Pool.  There is no way to force the system NOT to show it.  I would recommend that
you explain to your PMs why they are seeing the dialog, and then recommend that they simply click the OK button to proceed unless they actually want to filter.  After a while, they will get used to seeing this dialog.  Hope this helps.
