Entourage 2008 keeps crashing

My entourage client keeps crashing. I have updated the v10.6.4 combo as I was told to do because my Safari kept crashing. I believe I have finally resolved that issue. I am at the point that I am thinking I need to go back to Mac Mail. Here is the log from the crashes. Any idea?

I have the same problem. How do you reduce the size of the database? I Have deleted most of my unwanted mail - sent, deleted & inbox....
please help as this is really irritating.
Please post your question on Microsoft's own forums for Entourage, as Apple discussions only provide support for Apple products:

  • Mac Pro (early 2008) keeps crashing

I have a Mac Pro (early 2008) that keeps crashing, becoming ever more frequent. It usually happens upon starting up the computer, and once it's all loaded, it crashes, as in all shuts down, and then immediateky restarts itself. This can go on repetitively 10 times or more. Usually, once it's stabilized and remains open, perhaps after 30min-1 hour, it will remain ok for the rest of the day. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this problem. Do I need to update the memory/the graphics card/buy new computer?! Any advice would be very much appreciated. Here are the specs:
    Processor  2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  6 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM  - 2GB 2GB 1GB 1GB (4 slots free)
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB
Software  Mac OS X Maverick 10.9.1

AHT by now is only on the OEM DVD and is not fool-proof or definitive or much else. Just a way to rule out some obvious failures.
a new set of 2 x 2GB FBDIMM $25 might be worth for testing.
replacing the ATI 2600XT or get Apple to, they still will it seems like.
Was it a clean install of Mavericks? did you import  your old apps and profile data? might be worth a look at redoing.
Some airport and wifi/BT cards can be suspect.
Whatever is happening, all those crashes are going to mangle the directory of the boot drive even more. Reason in spades to have a clean system, image it for restore, and so you have a system just for testing.
3.1's in their 4 yrs have had more issues like this than any other model.

  • Xcelsius 2008 keeps crashing when invoking "Manage Connections" button.

    Hi,
I am trying to evaluate Xcelsius 2008 but it keeps crashing. I hope it is not a problem with the software, but rather with my computer (although I have tried it Windows XP and Windows Vista - both fail).
I installed Xcelsius 2008 (1.1.0.3) on Windows Vista yesterday and it was working great. I was able to make it connect to a web service that I developed and display the data.
This morning I am having frustaring problems... Everytime I try to click on the "Manage connections" button, Xcelsius just crashes. It can be an empty model and it will crash. I put some components and then click on the button and it crashes.
I went to the Windows event log to see if I could find anything usefull and this is what I have found:
Faulting application Xcelsius.exe, version 1.1.0.3, time stamp 0x487c64e0, faulting module MFC80U.DLL, version 8.0.50727.1833, time stamp 0x482bc450, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0004c655, process id 0x160c, application start time 0x01c9038b7fe324cb.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Javier,
I would like to think the problem is with the machine as well, but it has ocurred on Windows XP and Windows Vista.
My Windows Vista is a brand new computer, with nothing but the OS (and whatever Toshiba has put in it), Office and Xcelsius.
Right now I am building a Virtual PC machine with only Windows 2K3 and Office 2K3 installed on it. I will download all the patches and all the updates from Microsoft for it, but nothing else. I will then install Xcelsius and see if the problem persists.
I have run Xcelsius logged as the admin and as a user and the problem happens regardles.
Do you think it could be with the free trial version of the software? What is the version of the MFC80U.DLL you use? My version is 8.0.50727.1833
I have been impressed with what the software can do, but I am not too impressed with the way the software works.

  • Mail/Entourage Sync keeps crashing

If I enable the sync function in Entourage preferences it crashes, asks to report to Apple and restarts every 25-35 seconds. The error message is not intelligible, as far as I understand things. Perhaps someone with more knowledge would know what it means?

Since Entourage is not an Apple product, please post questions regarding it on MIcrosoft's own forums for their Mac apps: http://www.officeformac.com/productforums

Please someone help! I have 2 essays to do over the xmas hols!

Office is third party software and you'd do best posting in the Microsoft forums:
    http://www.officeformac.com/productforums/
However, you might want to try to uninstall Office and reinstall it and see if that works out.

  • Microsoft Word 2008 keeps crashing with Mountain Lion 10.8.3.

I've had this problem off and on, and judging from the forums, it seems to be common. Following advise on one discussion forum and a visit to the genius bar, I tried deleting the .plist files in the preferences folder for Word (following advice found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948489). This worked for a bit, but now the problem is back. I can't type two words before Word crashes. Does anyone have a solution?
The following error message appears after the crash:

  • MS Word 2008 keeps crashing on one particular file - HELP!

    Hello all..
just trying to help out a friend.. I am a PC person myself (please dont shoot me! :P )
when I open just one particular .doc file in MS Word 2008, about ~10 secs later it freezes up with that funky lil rainbow wheel.. anyone know what the problem might be? I ran MS update on it & installed but it didnt help
its just the one file & I have nooo idea!

I'm having the same problem. When I open a .docx file created in Word 2007 for Windows in my new Word 2008 for Mac (updated to the latest edition), I can work for a few minutes, then the spinning wheel pops up and the app freezes. I then have to force-quit it. I have tried this with several files, and the problem reappears each time. The files do not use anything special except for having comments and marked changes in the text. (I work as an academic economist and write papers with colleagues in files from Word 2007 for Windows, and we have to use comments and marked changes when working on joint papers.) Any ideas about how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

  • Help! Early 2008 MacPro keeps crashing suddenly. EtreCheck help needed.

My MacPro 2008 keeps crashing, rebooting, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. This has happened before a couple of years ago, I think I reset PRAM then and it worked.  This time, it hasn't.  The things that have changed since my original configuration: I am now using Chrome as my primary browser, an old but huge Cinema Display and both a Magic Mouse and Wireless keyboard.  Otherwise, not much has changed so I'm not sure what's going on.
I know it's an old system but I'm just trying to squeeze just a little more life out of it.  It has been a solid machine for me for a long time and I need it for some upcoming jobs.
I ran an EtreCheckbut don't know how to interpret/take action from the results.  Please advise!  Thanks in advance.

Sorry it's taken awhile to respond.  In short, I cleaned all the malware, plists and reinstalled my Adobe CS (the cache was acting strange consistently suddenly) but it did not solve my problems permanently.  I was able to to finish my jobs by never putting the computer to sleep for a few days and getting the system stable enough.  But if I put it to sleep, or shut it down to restart it would just shut down randomly and just keep trying to restart, sometimes successfully, sometimes not.  A few times the fans came on violently, to which I would do a hard shut down by pressing the power button down. I did a CMS reset, and pram reset, pulled the power cord out for a battery reset...tried because other forums say it might be bad Ram or a logic board battery going bad.
It seems to be working for now, but I still dont' feel like it's solved.  Here is the first page of the last kernel panic log (I haven't touched my computer for a few days):

  • Office:mac 2008 - Word keeps crashing...

I have Office:mac 2008 which I use regularly.  For some reason, after a good couple of years of loyal service, it keeps crashing whenever I open a Word document.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, but it still crashes.  Any ideas?  Apologies if this is already covered somewhere, I have had a look but couldn't find any answers.
    Many thanks!

As a lot of people around here consider MS the "evil empire," and Word is not an Apple product, the best resource for their Mac produtcts is their own forums here:
    Office for Mac forums
Their forums are no less helpful than these and sometimes MS Mac specialists jump in to help.
I running Office 2008 on several of my Macs and your question has me stumped. Word has been stable through OS 10.6.8 (I'm not interested in what Lion offers).
One question: is the Trial version of Office installed? That wouldn't explain the "worked then--not now" effect you describe, but i have to ask as it's tripped up a number of people.

  • ENTOURAGE 2008 CRASHES REPEATEDLY

I have MS Office 2008 on both Intel and PPC computers. Entourage 2008 crashes repeatedly on all computers even after 10.5.2 and the recent Office update. Entourage seems to have a hard time dealing with HTML in email messages, which causes the crash most times.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a fix?

I suspect your problems could be involved with Font Caches. See this page for help troubleshooting crashes.

If you continue to have problems, the best place to get help is the Entourage newsgroup.
    <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/support_options/subnews.html>
First thing you should try is running the Apple combo updater for 10.5.2 and restart. Empty Font caches. Next, I would then use "Remove Office" and install from CD. Restart IMPORTANT, let Autoupdater update itself then download the 12.0.1 updater. Restart.

  • Too many apps crashing:  Entourage 2008, Quark 7, Camino 1.6.9, etc.

Quark 7.5 crashes when making slider selections in the print quality dialog box.
Entourage 2008 12.2 crashes whenever it feels like it; was rock solid in 10.5.
    Camino 1.6.9 too much, too.
Those are the 3 biggies that I use a lot.

So you checked to make sure the Quark *most recent versions are compatible with Snow Leopard* and the same with Entourage and Camino? Even though you are running the most recent versions available for those applications does not mean they are SL compatible.
Camino minimum requirements state; System Requirements
Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later No mention of SL.
Java issues with Camino browser and 10.6

    Can help me fixed this
    Thanks

Thank you for your responses.  This server is on a dell poweredge T710 with 192 gb of memory.  All the hardware drivers are up to date and so is sql.  No memory errors.  The only error I get is when sql crashes.  The only 3rd party
dll what is on the server would be xp_greta_64.dll.  We are looking into that.
I have a question about setting up a link server with 'out of process'  We only use sql server link connections with other sql servers.  When I try to setup 'out of process' unchecking allow inprocess under SQLNCLI all of my link servers end up
failing and giving me errors.  I had to switch it back since this is a production machine. Is there a way to just set up 'out of process' on one link server with SQLNCLI, it seems it is all or nothing.  Do I have to delete all the current link
    servers and recreate them?
The only other thing that we have changed is that we have added Python 3.3 and ActivePerl 5.16.3 but not on this server.  Only on all of our other sql servers.
Here is our last dump from yesterday.  Thanks again, If I have too I will open a case up with Microsoft.

  • Leopard sleep problem which seems related to Entourage 2008...

    Hi all,
I have a MBP (3,1) running 10.5.2 and I noticed about 3 months ago that if I left the lid open the energy saver triggered sleep wouldn't kick in (very hot laptop next morning syndrome).
I've read a number of other threads on Leopard auto-sleep problems (which pointed to the HP AIO frameworks) but this doesn't appear to be the same issue I have...
If I quit Entourage 2008 then the computer will sleep after the correct period of time - and that's with no other changes to my normal use. Of course I'd like to not have to worry about quitting Entourage each time I might, maybe, just possibly not be back at the computer for a while.
Now in the system log I do keep getting the following strange entries:
    /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Microsoft Entourage.app/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft Entourage[914]: Warning: accessing obsolete X509Anchors.
I have no idea what this really does and I do appear to have such a file in the system called X509Anchors...
If I switch Entourage to Offline mode then the entries don't appear in the system log anymore but... the unit still won't sleep. It requires Entourage not to be running it seems.
Having not seen anything else on the discussions forum relating to Entourage 2008 preventing auto-sleep I'm beginning to wonder whether it's just me?!?
Anyone else seeing this effect? And most importantly, does anyone know of a fix?
I have tried the NMS sleep utility stuff and although it worked perfectly whilst I was testing it using Energy saver timings of 1 minute... as soon as I upped the time back to my usual 30 minutes for CPU sleep it failed to work again.
    Any help much appreciated.

Ok two things based on the crash report and the steps you took right before the crash:
    # Try to disable scrolling acceleration and restart Firefox. Does it continue to crash?
    # Try Safe Mode and do the same task as above with email and the pdf [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]
    # Also pdf.js may be helpful to read pdfs in the meantime. You can change the default reader in the Preferences/Options > Application menu of Firefox.
    # Try to clear out the downloads folder and update flash to version 14 (that should do it)
IF it crashes again please also provide the new crash signatures and we can take a look :-) Sorry for the crashing :-(
