Entourage 2008 won't sync to iCal since 10.5.3

Hi,
Since I updated to 10.5.3, Entourage 2008 won't sync to iCal. I've already tried to uncheck the sync option in Entourage preferences and check it again using the "Entourage replaces iCal" option. Contacts seem to sync to address book normally. However, my Exchange calendar in Entourage won't replace iCal items. Both iCal and Exchange calendar in Entourage seem to have merged (which is a big problem for me). After this unfortunate merge, nothing is syncing in one direction or another...
Any help appreciated!

Maybe this could be a better solution. Since the problem is only with Entourage, I did some diggin' and found out that there seems to be a problem with Entourage SyncService-Registration.
The easiest solution is:
1) Switch off syncing in Entourage and quit Entourage, iCal, AddressBook, Mail
2) Kill SyncServer (via ActivityMonitor)
3) Delete contents of Library/Application Support/SyncServices/Local/
4) Start iCal, AddressBook, Mail, Entourage
5) Switch on syncing in Entourage
Best

  • ICal won't sync with iCal from other computer and .Mac

I am trying to snyc my ical on my desktop with the ical on my laptop. I use my ical on my laptop most often so its data is most upto date, but I would like to have it so that no matter which one I look at its the same, and if I change something on one it will update on both.
I thought that is what would happen with .Mac and syncing. But when I try to sync my desktop it says that it won't sync the calander because of inconsist data, but it won't tell me what they are.
It says to confirm that your computer's data is valid, (its not, but how do I confirm or not?). Then it says to reset calendars on .Mac in the system preferences when I try to do that it gives me an icon of computer and .mac, and an arrow saying in what direction I'm assuming data will go. I choose .mac, to computer and it still comes up with the same problem.
So how do I fix? Once I fix will it merge data on both or will it always be thinking take the .mac data and replace it? It scares me when it says are you sure you want to do this and its changable if you do. I don't want to loose the data on my laptops calander.
Is there a way to clear my desktop ical, and then sync it and get my laptop's data and start from scratch? And then do mutual merges after that?
It says to check that my info on the computer is correct and then to reset it in .mac preferences. The data on the desktop isn't correct but even if I reset, it won't

I'm having massive problems with syncing via .mac with two local Macs - nothing I have tried has worked as yet and it's currently under investigation with a .mac specialist.
I did used to get the 'inconsistent data' warning but that has somehow disappeared - now I don't get any warnings and .mac says both Macs are synced but I get nothing updated to iCal from either direction...
So I don't as yet have an answer but just to let you know that if you get in touch with Apple they will support you with finding an answer.
In the meantime have a look at these links for more self-help:
    http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2008/02/25/how-to-truly-reset-your-mac -sync-data
Note that iSync also plays a large part, not just .mac and iCal - you need to 'reset sync data' in iSync/preferences.
Plus some of the help stuff that Apple sent me:
You may need to reset sync data again on .Mac and on all of the computers with which you are syncing.
First, it's important to back up any data that you wish to keep. For more information, please see:
How to back up and restore your important Mac OS X 10.4 files (applies to 10.5 too)
    http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n301239
Mac OS X 10.5: When to use Time Machine or .Mac Backup to back up data
    http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n307050
Before proceeding, you may find it helpful to print this email and the above articles so that you can consult them during this process.
Next, using a computer that has Mac OS X v10.5 or later, unregister the other computers, including any Mac OS X v10.4 computers you may be using. (To find out which version of Mac OS X is installed, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu.)
Here's how to unregister the other computers from the computer that has Mac OS X v10.5 or later:
    1) Open System Preferences and click .Mac.
    2) Click Sync, then click the Advanced button.
    3) Click once on one of the computers in the list and click Unregister. Follow the onscreen instructions to unregister the computer. Repeat this step until all registered computers are removed from the list.
    4) When the last computer has been unregistered, you will be asked "Would you like to delete unused sync info from .Mac?" Select the boxes next to each of the data types listed and click Delete.
    5) Restart the computer.
After unregistering the other computers, sync your data from the computer that has the most up-to-date information.
To add a computer with Mac OS X v10.5 or later to the .Mac sync list:
    1) Open that computer's System Preferences and click .Mac.
    2) Click the Sync tab.
    3) Select "Synchronize with .Mac."
    4) Select the data types you wish to sync. Click Sync Now.
    5) If you are asked, "What would you like to do for this first sync?", select "Merge" and click Sync. You may have to do this for each data type that you are syncing.
After you have performed the initial sync, you should try syncing again. If you do not receive any errors, you can add additional computers to the .Mac sync list by following these steps on each of the computers:
    1) Open that computer's System Preferences and click .Mac.
    2) Click the Sync tab.
    3) Select "Synchronize with .Mac."
    4) Select the data types you wish to sync. Click Sync Now.
    5) If you are asked, "What would you like to do for this first sync?", select "Replace data on this computer" and click Sync. You may have to do this for each data type that you are syncing. This will replace the data on the computer with the data that has been synced to .Mac.
I recommend that you add the computers one at a time, confirming each time that syncing is working correctly. To confirm that syncing is working, make a change in one of the data types you are syncing, then perform a sync from the first computer. When that syncing is finished, perform a sync on the second. If syncing is successful, add a third computer, and so on.
    Good luck!

  • Address Book and Entourage 2008 - Problem with sync services in Entourage

Hi, all. Have had sync services working (I think) for some time but had duplicate contacts in Entourage from the syncing between in and Address Book. Turned off sync services in Entourage 2008, deleted all contacts in Entourage, then turned the services back on telling Entourage to delete Entourage info (instead of the other way around or merging).
Now I can't get any syncing to take place. And when I select the lone contact for me (that you have to have) and choose View, Synchronize Now is greyed out and can't be selected.
Any thoughts why syncing isn't working?
    -John
P.S. I tried to change the setting to combine instead of delete Entourage info and that had the same (non) effect.

I had a similar issue. I was able to sync my iPhone back to my Mac and that restored the addresses although all the categorization was lost. I have no idea why this happened to you.

  • Blackberry Torch won't sync with iCal

For some strange reason my Blackberry Torch will not sync with iCal.  I have new items entered on iCal that don't tranasfer in spite of the fact that I have synced the phone with my Mac.  I am running Lion, Blackberry desktop version 2.3.1 and I have iCloud turned off on my Mac.  I have tried the Forget Device Option, deleted calendar items from iCal and set up a new calendar and imported events back in.  Still no luck.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks for your quick reply.
No I do not have iCloud enabled on the Mac OS.
I'm not sure how to clear out the calendar database.  I have exported all existing information, then deleted the calendar and then created a new one with the same name.  I have restored my Torch to factory settings, reinstalled everything and still no resolution.
I am not able to find any setting either in iCal preferences or in my Calendar Options on my Torch which would even give me the option of the calendar showing as read only.
At this point, if I enter something in Calendar on my Torch, it will sync with iCal but not the other way around.  Contacts, Notes, and Tasks all sync fine both ways.
    Hope that's helpful

  • Calendar events on iphone won't sync to ical on Mac since iphone 7.0.2 upgrade

Help! Some events - but not every one -  entered into new Iphone SW 7.0.2 do not sync back to the Calendar (v 4.0.4 from ILife 2009).  I have tried rebooting my systems (computer and phone), as well as re-creating the problem by adding new test events, and I get the same result: calendar additions nor deletions entered from the Iphone do not sync to the computer. I do not have this problem with Iphoto or other apps in 7.0.2.

update to my original post:  after searching since for the past 10 days - I did want to pass along to others with an iphone calendar sync problem the following resource:
Mac OS X: Resetting the SyncServices folder
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
This is the preferred solution for problems with sync with calendar and other apps between iphone and MaciOS.  This did solve the problem which developed that no items from iCal were copying to Iphone, such as new calendars I would add, but the original problem has not been fixed by this reset.

  • Ipod touch won't sync with ical or iphoto after 2.0.2 update

I've never tried to use ical before, so I never synced it with my ipod touch. However, recently I created a calendar on ical and so I checked the "sync ical calendars" and "all calendars" options. Itunes says that it has been "syncing calendars" with my ipod for four hours now! What in the world is it doing? You can't seriously tell me that it takes four hours to sync my calendar to my ipod--it takes less than two hours to restore!
In addition, my ipod, which always used to sync my iphoto photo albums with no problem, now claims it can't find any albums in iphoto. But when I open iphoto, I can see all of my albums--nothing has changed. If anyone else has had these problems or has a clue as to what is going on, please reply!

I have this problem too, but on an iPhone 3g rather than a Touch. I basically cannot sync calendars at all so any calendar additions i need on my mac i just have to enter manually. It's been like this since August despite many attempt to do a restore and fix it. I even tried clearing out all my calendars thinking that perhaps there were too many entries. Anyone have any ideas?

  • IPhone 5 won't sync to iTunes since update to 11.1.3.8 yesterday

I've tried repairing iTunes and resetting the sync history since I've also been getting the error message unable to load sync services. But iTunes will sync to my iPad 4. And if I make changes to my playlists on my iPhone they do update in iTunes but not vice versa. I have windows 7 home premium 64 bit  service pack 1 and iOS 7.0.3 on my iPhone. All was fine until the iTunes update yesterday. Can anyone help? I can get to the iTunes store no problem and like I mentioned, I can sync to my iPad 4 with no problems. I don't receive any error message and sync appears to work but playlists and music aren't updated/changed on my phone.

After trying all of that stuff I did wind up getting a fix for my iPad.
I unselected the music and did a sync to remove the music from my iPad. When I opened my iPad the music appeared to still be there but I didn't try to play the music. I plugged the iPad back in and checked the box to copy all the music and hit apply. When it was done all my playlists were correct and everything worked correctly.
I haven't tried changing the playlists again to see if it was just a first time glitch or a continuing issue.
McCroyd I don't know if you have tried this but it might work.
    Good Luck.

  • To Dos on Palm won't sync with iCal

I noticed this morning that my To Do list on my Palm pilot is not syncing to my iCal To Do list. However, the contacts and calendar are syncing fine. I checked the Hot Sync manager for the Palm, but everything seems to be in order. Contacts and Calendars are selected in the iSync. There's nothing to select for To Dos, but I don't remember there being anything for that anyway. Any ideas as to what might be the problem?
    Thanks for teh help,
    Bill

    Dear Ferd II,
Thanks for your pointout. It worked for me, though not the first time. I had my iTunes sync prefs set to sync automatically upon iPhone connection, but you can't access the "info" tab until it's connected. So my first time thru, I tried to click "replace calendar on iPhone one time from Mac" and then hit the "apply" button WHILE the sync was already in progress. It didn't like that, so I suggest to set those prefs in iTunes FIRST, then export and import the calenders along with the remove sync history via iSync, as per the instructions in the link you gave. My second time thru, using the prefs already preset, it all worked fine, and now the iPhone and iCal sync in both directions again.
    Awesome.

    Hi,
I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard and since then my trusty 3rd Gen Ipod will not sync with iTunes (9.0.3). It mounts in Finder, but does not appear in iTunes. The iPod will still charge, but it constantly displays the "Do Not Disconnect" message until manually ejected.

  • IPhone no longer syncing with iCal since purchasing new Macbook Pro

I've searched other posts and some were exhaustively long complaints about iCloud and I really don't want to read through 600 posts to get to what should be a simple answer to a really obnoxious problem that never used to be a problem before Maverick.
My calendars are not syncing. I've gathered from 1 other post to make sure that I have iCloud turn on for iCal on my Macbook and on my iPhone. Done. But still nothing is syncing. When I sync on iTunes, no calendar syncing happens. How else am I supposed to sync my calendars? Please help!

You can no longer sync via iTunes. That method of sync was removed (and the 1000+ post thread is arguments over things tangientally related to that).
You need to sync via other means than iTunes, then.
One option is to use iCloud. If you sign into iCloud on all your devices, and then make sure your calendars are in the "iCloud" section on your devices, they should sync.
If you don't want to use iCloud, you could use Google calendars, they operate much the same way (but may be less reliable).
Or if you use Exchange for work, you could sync that way.
Or if none of those are acceptable, you could install OS X Server and set up the calendar server on your local network and use it to sync. This is fairly straightforward "for setting up a UNIX calendar server" but it's not trivial and beyond the scope of a forum post to explain it all

  • Events entered in iphone calendar won't sync to ical

For some reason, if i add an event to my calendar on my iphone4 it is not showing them in iCal.
Have got sync box checked in the info part of itunes, can't think of anything else
    anyone?

    The tech way longer.....
Open iCal and backup or export your entries. Make a note of the fie name and location, you're going to need them in a minute. Once your backup/export is completed, close the iCal application.
Open Finder and remove everything inside the "Username/Library/Calendars" folder. For instance, if your username is "Joe", then move everything inside the "Joe/Library/Calendars" folder.
Open the iSync application. It's located in the "/Applications/" folder. Once iSync is opened, go into the iSync Preferences (iSync -> Preferences) and push/click the "Reset Sync History" button. Then, close the iSync application.
Re-Open the iCal application and Import (File -> Import) a new calendar. When prompted, use your notes from Step #1 to select the file your created earlier. Once completed, close the iCal application (you should have all of your calendar entries back.)
Open the iTunes application and connect your Apple iPhone to the computer.
Within the Advanced section of the Info tab for the Apple iPhone, check the box the overwrites/replaces the Calendar data on the Apple iPhone.
Click the Apple/Sync button. New, modified and deleted entries should now be syncing correctly.

  • My MacBook won't sync my iPhone since I downloaded IOS8, is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Since I downloaded IOS8, my iphone will not sync with itunes on my MacBook, which means I'm also having difficulty doing a simple manual backup of my ios device to my MacBook. The fact that my MacBook has a 32 bit processor and runs on OS X Version 10.6.8 (as good as it gets), is, apparently, the root of the problem since I've never had this problem with previous ios versions. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem and what is Apple doing about it?

I have the same issue, except I am running an i5 iMac (64-bit) with 10.10.1 installed.  I can't tell if it is an iOS issue or an iTunes 12 issue.  It started happening to me when I got the iPhone 6 AND upgraded to iTunes 12.  It wouldn't connect my iPhone nor my iPad 2 (running older iOS).  I had to install a fresh version of iTunes and it "sort of" helped.  It will see the devices now, but then it forgets and I have to reboot occasionally for them to be seen again.
This is a big problem and seems to be pretty wide spread.

  • New songs and playlists won't sync to iPod since 8.0.2

I have an 80gb iPod classic. I have made numerous failed attempts to sync new songs and playlists since downloading this latest 8.0.2 version of iTunes.
When I plug in my iPod it shows up in iTunes, when I sync it iTunes shows a progress bar, then it tells me that the sync is complete and I disconnect my iPod when prompted. However, when I attempt to locate the song and/or playlist on my iPod, they are no where to be found, but I can still locate them on iTunes. I have roughly 10gb of files on the iPod, so I don't have any issues with available memory.
    +Somebody please help!!!+

Have you tried clicking on the ipods name then go to movies and click sync movies and do the same with the playlists and it should work (:

  • MacBook Pro (A1260, 2008) won't sleep on charger since 10.9.2?

    Hi,
Since upgrading to OS X 10.9.2 (possibly unrelated), my A1260 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo Late-2008 non-unibody MacBook Pro (with SSD upgrade) doesn't seem to want to sleep when the charger is plugged in. Shut the lid, and it'll just stay on solid-white-light by the clasp button, but with display switched off, though the machine stays on, and it doesn't sleep.
If I shut the lid without the charger plugged in though, it'll sleep right away (I've disabled sleep image writing for the sake of my SSD). Also, if the lid's already shut, as soon as I disconnect the charger, it'll sleep right away too.
    Any ideas?
    Jon

Go to System Preferences / Energy Saver and check the sleep settings for the power adapter. If they look right, try an SMC reset. You'll want the process for "a machine with a battery you can remove yourself."
