Entourage - all e-mail has vanished

I forwarded my g-mail and work accounts to Entourage a month ago which resulted in e-mails going directly to Entourage and not these accounts. I opened Entourage today and it showed NOTHING in the inbox or contacts. Everything is gone. Everything was there last week and now nothing. Does anyone have any idea where these items could have gone and how I can recover them?

Messages from an email account can't be forwarded to Entourage without accessing an email account with Entourage so which email account were or are your Gmail and work email accounts being forwarded to and what is the account type for this account - IMAP or POP?
And it sounds like you don't maintain a backup. Since Entourage stores ALL application data in a single large database file, maintaining a regular backup of the Entourage database is very important but maintaining a regular backup of all important data is important regardless.
Since this is the Mail & Address Book - Tiger discussions for Apple's Mail & Address Book applications, have you directed your question to Microslop or posted in the same in a MS online help forum?

  • My mail has vanished

All my stored emails have disappeared. I can only see a few recent ones, but older than a month have all gone. Why? How to recover them?

My mail has vanished as well. The first time a few months ago and the second time was yesterday, but only from my Inbox. In my case recent mail was totally deleted and more older mail allowed to remain, but 100's of emails disappeared.
Here is a suggestion from the OS X 10.4 manual: *In some cases, you might need to rebuild a mailbox to update the list of messages in the mailbox. For example, if email messages appear to be missing or garbled, or if you can't find all relevant messages by searching.*
*To rebuild a selected mailbox, choose Mailbox > Rebuild.*
*For IMAP accounts, locally cached messages and attachments are discarded and the messages and attachments are downloaded again from the server to your hard disk. Your mailbox appears empty until the download is complete. This action is recommended for fast Internet connections only.*
However, my email mostly disappeared from Apple's server, so seems to be lost forever. If you have a .Mac account you can go online to view your mailbox in the sky. Mine reflected the substantial loses...

  • Help, my beloved mail has vanished!

My one year old turned off my G4 at the power bar... when the computer came back up, my mail application seemed to have disappeared. The icon was still in the dock, it bounces a little half hearted-ly, whirs momentarily- and then does nothing. I tried starting in safe mode and, found an error in my libary folder, tossed it, to no avail... agh.
I can see my mail folders on my hard drive but I can't open them or access them without my mail program working. Please help...someone. I have a macbook but all my mail is on my desktop,10.3.9. I also tried updating my mail application, that didn't help. This happened right after a software update that included mail, could that be the culprit?
Does anyone know if my mail folders are still intact? That is my chief worry - I wonder should I just bring it in somewhere.. but then they'll charge me $150.00 that I could just use to buy applecare for my notebook ( hmmm. wonder could I use phone support for that computer for my desktop.? ) Thanks so much in advance..

Could you please provide a more accurate description of the circumstances of the problem? Was it after installing a system update or as a result of a power outage? What does “found an error in my libary folder, tossed it, to no avail... agh” mean?
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, reinstall the Combo Update for the type of computer and the version of Mac OS X you’re using, unless this is the version of Mac OS X that came with your computer, as well as the latest Security Update released for that version of Mac OS X that included updates for Mail:
Mac OS X 10.3.9 Combo Update
Security Update 2007-003 for Mac OS X 10.3.9
You may also want to read the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
    Troubleshooting installation and software updates
    Installing software updates
Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed.
BTW, if you’re running Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther), it would have been more appropriate to discuss this in the Mail & Address Book - Mac OS X 10.3 & earlier forum.

  • Mail has vanished after Snow Leopard update

I recently updated to Snow Leopard. Everything was fine after installation, but 3 days later after I started up and all of my email in the Mail program is gone... along with my POP account settings, etc Just a blank mail box. Is there any way to restore my mailbox to it's original state?

Mac OS X v10.6: Mail.app won’t open, or "You can't use this version of Mail…" alert after installing Security Update 2012-004:

Fellow user Grant Bennet-Alder offers this solution:
Some users have reported this problem if the Mail Application has been moved out of the top-level /Applications folder, or duplicated in another location.
When the Security Update is done, the old version of Mail is disabled.
    The solution has been to:
    1) make certain Mail is in the /Applications folder
    2) There is no other copy anywhere else.
    3) Once steps 1 and 2 have been done, Manually download and re-apply the Security Update (2012-004) by hand.
    Security Update 2012-004 (Snow Leopard)
If the Mail.app has been LOST, it can be re-installed by applying the 10.6.8 version 1.1 combo update. But this update is quite large and it is usually not necessary:

  • All my mail has disappeared from my outlook account after a software update

I just downloaded iDisplay and updated my software and now all my emails and email account has disappeared from Outlook. I had been using it prior to undertaking these actions. Any ideas?

Your Outlook mail is stored in a folder inside your Documents folder - "Microsoft User Data." Make sure that this folder is intact.
The next time you start Outlook, hold down the option key to rebuild your identity. Your emails should remain intact.

  • My e-mail has vanished from my MacBook Pro

I have upgraded to the latest version of Lion (10.7.2) on my MacBook Pro.
I have upgraded my iPad 2 to iOS5.
I have lost the mail from the inbox of Mail on my MacBook Pro.
I seem to be getting the mail because the rules I have in place are still sorting certain messages into special mailboxes.
    But my inbox remains empty.
The inbox in iCloud has the mail.
The inbox on my iPad has the mail.
But the MacBook Pro inbox retains the mail for a few seconds and then poof, gone.
    This is a ******.
    Any ideas?

  • All my music has vanished

My entire library on itunes has disappered? Its not even in the file! Can someone help please?

If your iTunes Music folder has no music files in it as opposed to just an empty library when you open iTunes, then you need to recover your music files from your backups.
I am guessing that you don't have a backup, but you can recover anything you had on your iPhone using the information in this post from Zevoneer:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9990366#9990366
Anything you don't have on the iPhone will have to be re-ripped.
The iTunes store has a strict download once policy, so any lost purchases will have to be repurchase if you want them, but you could try contacting customer service to see if they will take pity on you and allow a second download.
Now would also be a good time to think about backing up your files in the future. External drive are not that expensive these days.

  • All e-mail vanished! Please Help.

My 4 year old son was on my computer and all my e-mail has vanished from all the the mailboxes, mail folders and mail trash. It's very odd because, for example, my inbox reads 0 messages, 14 unread. All the others are like that too. If someone out there can tell me how to find the missing folder or files and how to properly put it back where it belongs I would be soooo grateful. In addition, I tried to send and e-mail just to see if things were working and when I hit send nothing happens. Thanks!!!

Someone at work had the same issue when they upgraded to 10.4.7 and after trying for a while when they went back to OS10.4.6 the mail started working again. I dont want to go back to OS 10.4.6
    Please help.

MacBook Pro 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Mail version 2.1

    Hi Adnan,
The Mac OS X 10.4.7 Update introduced connection issues as a result of (according to the documentation) "Mail now supports connecting to mail servers through a SOCKS proxy". If that's the problem, you must go to System Preferences > Network and disable the SOCKS Proxy in the network configuration used to connect to the Internet, if it's enabled.

  • Chinese has vanished as Input Language

Around 24 hours ago, my macbook froze while typing something in simplified Chinese, using the desktop WeChat application. On rebooting, simplified Chinese has now vanished from the toggle menu, but more alarmingly, Chinese (in all its forms) has vanished as an option for Input Language in System Preferences. Macbook has been rebooted on numerous occasions since but no change. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you may need to restore your OS

  • Mail has become ungainly, slow and hangs

    Hi all.
Mail has become a big drain over the past while on my laptop. It takes over 1Gb of actual memory and up to 3Gb of virtual memory.
I've learned to run it and only it when I want to check mail. So I quit everything else if Mail is being launced. Which is a pain. Actually most of the time I'm using MobileMe's web interface and I've left Mail alone. But weblinks trigger it and I do have to tag and sort and I like to use it for that. So it launches.
And sure as eggs is eggs, after about five minutes it crawls to a halt, the laptop with it. I've done more Force-Quitting and hard reboots in the past month than in the first few years of this laptop.
The MBPro is about 4 years old and has about 80Gb free and 2Gb of Ram. I've ordered the upgrade to 3Gb to see if that helps.
I've rebuilt the Mailbox (it only checks my one MobileMe account), I've cleared the cache (neither the envelope index nor the cache were huge by the way)
I do have most of my emails online in the MobileMe Archive (about 3k emails), I tend not to store received emails locally so I can check them from anywhere. The largest folder on the Mac is the Sent one (about 4k emails). My next tack is to archive most of them to another database and see if slimming the entire lot down will help.
    All thoughts/suggestions are most welcome.

Seems a strange problem and for sure not the way Mail is used so gingerly. I have mine open all the time.
Not sure if you have already tried this, but I would do a permission repair to see if that helps. This also retrieves some inactive memory. 2Gb is good for most but at times can be a drag.
You might want to upgrade RAM.

  • My @me account has vanished off my iPad and iPhone and been replaced with @icloud. How do I get my @me mail back or how do I view it?

Can anyone give me some advice. My @me.com email account has vanished and been replaced with @icloud.com and I am at a loss how to view my email or put the account back onto my iPad/iPhone. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can manage your email accounts in
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars
However, you should still get all of your emails, contacts and calendars on your @icloud.com email account just as you do on your @me.com account.
But if not, you can add and remove accounts listed above.

  • Mail dock icon has vanished

Hi, I have a strange problem with my Mail dock icon. It is completely transparent. It is still there, but I can't see it, I see an empty space, with only the 'Mail' text on top of it. I still can click it to open up mail. I already tried to remove it and add a new alias - and rebooted the computer. The Mail icon in the dock has vanished...

Have you tried trashing the mail.plist file from your Home Preferences folder?
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run _*Repair Disk*_ from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select *Disk Utility.*
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click *First Aid.*
    Click _*Repair Disk.*_
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop

  • One of my calendars in the list has vanished. It is not simply unchecked, but gone. It was all my own personal appointments, the calendars for other family are all still there. How do I restore that one calendar. I use iCloud and calendars is on.

One of my calendars (one of several) has vanished. It is not simply unchecked, but is totally gone. I have a MacBook Pro, iPad mini, iPhone 5c - this calendar is gone from all devices. I do have and use iCloud and calendars is turned on. I have turned off calendars and back on as well as turned off iCloud and then the device itself. Nothing has worked and this has all my own personal appointments on it. Any ideas of how to restore this one calendar and make it available in my list of the other calendars again?

There are a few applications out now that may be able to help you out. 1Password and LastPass are both password vault or lockers. They allow you to save passwords for applications and websites. That way you have a single password you use to keep the vault/locker secure and then all of your other passwords are stored for you so you don't have to write them down or try to remember them all.
