Entourage and 10.4.6.

Perhaps someone has dealt with this problem--after downloading the .6 operating system update, Entourage (Microsoft mail client) lost all my account info, emails, contacts, etc. I've re-entered all the account info--but the folders seem to be lost in space.

I've recently had problems with Entourage as well soon after the QuickTime 7.1 update. Folks over at http://www.macfixit.com/ had noticed the same thing.

Can't get entourage and ical to sync

Hi,
I've had a macbook for a while but got an iphone 3gs last week and I'm just trying to set it up. My addresses and contacts seem to be syncing to my iphone OK but not my entourage 2004 calendar. I have gone into entourage preferences and ticked all the synch boxes and when I open ical I have an entourage calendar but none of my appointments are on there (the only thing that is are public holidays and birthdays?).
When I tried to sync entourage with ical he just hung so I thought this may be due to number of entourage calendar entries. So I went onto entourage and changed it so that anything over 12 months old is deleted but now I have checked and I still have all my calendar entries on entourage from 2005 so that hasn't worked. How can I delete the old calendar entries?
So as I understand it in order for my calendar to be synced on my iphone it has to go through ical (even though I don't use that on my Macbook). As I can't get entourage to sync my calendar with ical I can't get my calendar onto my iphone at present which is a real pain.
Would I be better looking at mobileme or something similar or do I just need to setup entourage and ical differently?
As you can see I really need some help! All advice very gratefully received.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING - BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA IN ENTOURAGE.
You can delete everything in iCal by deleting the calendar (Entourage or Personal or temp or whatever Calendar is there). You can delete everything in Address book either by highlighting all the contacts and hitting delete or by deleting the Address Book folder in Address Book.
The key in getting them to sync properly with Entourage is deleting all the preferences in your Library folder under <your user>. Delete anything with Microsoft Entourage in it. I also deleted iCal preferences and Address Book Preferences.
I also found it necessary to go to the Office folder and delete the sync services folder.
Also go to Entourage sync services and turn OFF syncing with iCal and Address Book. Exit Entourage.
Go to your application folder, isync - reset sync history (button at bottom of screen).
Then bring up Entourage, sync services, and reactivate syncing with iCal and Address Book.
Everything should work. I have been struggling with this the last week or two. I've had innumerable exchanges with MS who have said anything with syncing is not their problem it's an apple application. Through these discussion boards I pieced together all of the elements above. But be sure to back up anything you want to keep before you do any of this.
It should work. It did for me (at least last night and all day today). Good luck.

Lines jump/scroll up/down in Entourage and Excel (MS 2008)

In Entourage and Excel (since the last MS Office 2008 update I believe), the tope line jumps or scrolls up (out of view), then back down into view. WhenI try to scroll up to see top line, it jitters in and out of site (up/down). It is hard to type on or work with the first line in an email message or an Excell worksheet. Also, when i move the cursor vertically (mid window), it also jitters up/down.
I do not recall exactly when this started, but it may have been when I agreed to update MS Office from a prompt a while back. Funny thing is I never recall MS Office having 'updates' before (I surely could be wrong on that!)
The jittering is driving me batty. I have rebooted system to no avail.

I've recently downloaded Lion and find my Microsoft excel, word, entourage and powerpoint do not function. It says these functions are not now supported. Why and how do I get to use them again?

Sync to Entourage and Not Mac Address book and ical HELP

I just got a brand new MacBook Pro (no more PC)!!!! My I Sync my phone and it put all the data in ical and address book. I use Entourage and thats where i would like all my info to go. how do i set up itunes to go to entourage and not the apple sofware.
And Can i sync via bluetooth?

The isync database, as I called it, is really just the master database from which ical, address book, bookmarks, etc., are stored, and it's used for syncing with the .mac service. Entourage can sync with it too, just go to the Entourage menu, choose Preferences, and look under General Preferences for Sync Services. Then check the boxes you want -- I just wanted the contacts to be the same in Entourage and Address Book so I only checked that one. The calendar is kind of funky because iCal uses separate calendars to group events, and I think if you check that box, iCal will then get a new calendar called Entourage, or something like that, in which all the Entourage events will go to and from. That is, I think Entourage will sync only with that iCal calendar, but I could be wrong about that since I don't use it.
Once you check the contacts box, Entourage will populate with all the contacts in your Address Book, and I think if you don't already have contacts there (that is if you've only been using Entourage for your contacts) then it will ask you if you want to put all your Entourage contacts into Address Book. I just don't remember.
Surely someone else out there is more familiar with this, but it should get you started.

Observed differences in Reply All between Mail, Entourage and Thunderbird

All three apps (Apple Mail, Entourage and Thunderbird) run on a standard user account with more or less the same 9 email addresses (IMAP).
Sending from one email address to the other 8 then choosing Reply All in each of the three applications returns the following behaviour on this computer:
Entourage
Reply All returns a message form with all addresses in To field.
Thunderbird
Reply All returns a message form with one address in To field and the remaining 7 addresses in CC field.
Apple Mail
Reply All returns a message form with one address only - the other 7 addresses appear to be discarded (in effect runs as Reply rather than Reply All)
So I suppose the question must be: have I mucked up this OS on this computer?

Trying the same workflow on iPhone with the same message using Reply All gives a message form with one address in To field and 7 addresses in CC field (similar to what is observed with Thunderbird earlier on)

What is preferable order of connecting fw drives, Apogee Entourage and imac

I am having serious problems somewhere in my system of OS 10.6.2, Logic Express 9.1, an Apogee Entourage and two Pacific Pro Audio fw drives with Oxfodr 911 chipsets. LE crashes repeatedly on a daily basis, the Core audio clicks and it's gone. My connection order is the iMac to the PPA drives and then to the Apogee. I think that order dates from my days with Pro Tools, where they wanted to keep the interface at the end of the line. I think, maybe that's not right. Anyway, I can only see one downside to switching the order to iMac to Apogee to the drives, and that's that in order to use Time Machine and SuperDuper to clone my hard drive on the iMac, I have to have the Apogee turned on. Is that right? I'd like to try shifting the connection order to try to work around this bug inside Logic or the Lucent agree chips in my iMac. Any ideas?

Entourage and iChat keep launching themselves

Over the last week or two, I've had MS Entourage and iChat launch themselves repeatedly. I had used Entourage for a few months this spring (and keep it around to read old email now and then), but I've never used iChat. My default email reader is Mail (v3.3).
This behavior seems to coincide with Mail events. For example, Entourage often seems to launch a second after I open a message or get email from the server.
On a hunch, I had Disk Utility repair permissions yesterday. The problem seemed to go away for a few hours. Today, iChat seems to launch less often than it had been before. Of course, I haven't been paying close enough attention to be sure.
It's like having ants that won't go away. How to I stop them?

I need help to recover my Entourage and iCal

I have just synced my iphone - daily event - but this time all the calender entries hit the fan! Oh dear, what a mess. I appeared to have duplicateds of almost everything!
So I went through day by day deleting and updated profiles etc. then I thought Id check that iCal had everything (needed for the iphone sync) and found it had no entries at all! I tried to use TM to go back to this morning on Entrouage with little effexct. I had to reinstall Entrougage (2008). All appeared ok - but then I checked iCal again and no sync services were imported.
I then used the import from iCal to import entourgage and it appeared to do this several times. I ended up again with duplicates calendars.
I mistakingly then deleted the Entourage calendars from iCal which then deleted the Entourage entries. I am in a right mess! Somewhere through this process I did copy the main identity and have since imported that back into Entrouage but its come back without catogoriers and projects.
Please... is there not a way I can just revert everything back to earlier this morning (I have Time Machine set up) without having to completely reinstall everything. I really miss thsat useful 'system estore' on PC! And.. if possible , has anyone any ideas why this happed?

Sorry to say that no one was able to help me. Apples upport closed for the evening so I was on my own!! I ended up having to reinstall OS X and restore to earlier time through time machne. That was ok but iCal did not restore. Entourage was ok - so I decided to import Entrouage again into iCal and started that process last night - and I have just aborted it as it was taking so many hours. I thought perhaps i'd be better using Outlook 2011?? Just set that all up only to find that it doesn't sync with iCal??? How do I get that onto my iphone then? Getting increasingly frustrated here....

Entourage and display problem

Since the 10.4.4 update I have been having strange problems with Entourage (Microsoft Office email client).
After the program has been running for a while (varies between a few minutes and a few hours) the "Hide" command doesn't work properly. When I "Hide" the program, the windows do not disappear, although the program menubar does hide and another application becomes "active."
Once switching back to Entourage, certain window elements no longer display correctly. Different buttons (i.e. "Send" the drop down menu for the from address on replies, etc.) are "greyed out" although some do work in this greyed out state.
I wasn't sure where else to post this question. Searching on google and this forum doesn't seem to reveal anyone else with the same problem. Any ideas?

The fact Excel is affected too, sounds to me
somewhere along the line you either accidently moved
a file or deleted or renamed one or a few of
Microsoft Office's documents. My suggestion is
this.
That was my original thought. As mentioned, I already completely removed and re-installed Office. On the first run of Excel (both before and after a "Fix Permissions) the problem was there. Entourage doesn't exhibit the problem immediately, but it did come back in a short time. If something is moved or corrupted, it is not something that the Office installer will fix or replace.
Backup all your data. Note, Microsoft Entourage
stores its data in your Home -> Documents ->
Microsoft User data folder.
Run the office uninstaller found in your Office
application folder.
Reinstall Office.
The hardware test is found on your restore disks that
came with your Mac and is bootable much the same way

Entourage & And an iMac in a predominantly PC environment?

Good morning all!
I recently switched to a MAC at my predominately PC university, and
now I find out after I've gotten the mac that we have little to no
support for it. I was hoping some of the corporate users could give a
hand or suggestions with the following:
1.) Cannot view resource accounts I am an owner of, nor accounts I am
a delegate for in Entourage 2004
2.) Seems to be no way that I can get the iMac on the University
Domain (and our IS folks seem unwilling to even try)
3.) MS Access for Office 04 Mac? Does this even exist? I was looking
for Office 2004 Professional and can't even find info on it other
than its not in stock anywhere.
4.) Anyone have success using bootcamp w/Windows XP to stop gap
between non mac friendly applications, the universities servers and
your mac?
any tips for getting more mac info out to the Universities IS folks?

Did you configure Entourage for an Outlook account? Consult Entourage's Help for information on setting up an Outlook account.
If your school uses standard Ethernet, then connect the computer's Ethernet port to an active port on the school's network. Open Network preferences in System Preferences. Select the Built-in Ethernet port and click on the Configure button. Click on the TCP/IP tab then set the 'Configure IPv4' drop down menu to DHCP if that's what your school uses. Click on the Apply Now button. Shortly you should see the network information appear - IP address, network mask, etc.
If the school uses assigned IP addresses then you will need to have the IS people assign an IP address for you to use. You would then configure using the Manual selection from the drop down menu. You will also need the network mask, gateway IP address, and Domain Name Server IP address.
There is no Access for the Mac. There are, however, other database applications such as FileMaker Pro. If you don't need Entourage you can use the free open source NeoOffice Aqua which is Office compatible and includes word processing, presentation, graphics, spreadsheet, and database applications that are fully compatible with MS Office. Be sure to get the Intel version.
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak 2 or Vista. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, or Vista Ultimate. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, or Vista Ultimate. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system.
In a Windows-only Centric university your only options are to be pro-active on your own and learn how to do things yourself. Such IS departments are disinclined to provide any type of Mac support mostly because they don't know anything about Macs. Nevertheless, Windows servers can accommodate Macs quite comfortably if they are properly configured. Just keep after the people if you are unable to obtain network access per the above information.
One thing that may help you is to learn about Directory Access (Utilities folder.) MacDevCenter has been running a series of articles on using Directory Access. That may be a good place to start along with reading the online help - launch DA and select DA Help from the Help menu.

Mobile Me, Entourage and Hotmail??!?

Forgive me if this has been answered, but I've got Entourage on my MacBook and I have my hotmail acct. downloaded through that, now I've got my iPhone and MobileMe and I don't know how to sync my mail through that...I do have the free version of hotmail, do I need to upgrade it? Can I still access it through Mobile Me or do I have to do it another way? Also, if I already have Mobile Me on my iPhone and need to access my e-mail another way, how do I change those settings?

Its been this way for about two years or so now. Don't remember when it started though. They did, however, grandfather in old accounts (like mine, which the newest one was created in 2001) which Entourage plays with with no problems or $$$. Good luck...

Entourage and Mozilla Thunderbird and back.

For a while I was using Entourage but decided to move to Mozilla Thunderbird and it's been ok but now I want to move all my email address's and all the folders where I store email back to Entourage. Someone was kind enough to inform me on how to get them from Entourage to T'Bird but now the question is how to get them back as I had deleted them in Entourage once I had them in T-Bird and over time more have been created. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if Entourage won't automatically import the messages, there is probably an Export option on Thunderbird. I am afraid a Microsoft forum might not be much help and you may have to start with a Thunderbird forum first.

Hyperlinks in Entourage and Word stopped opening a tab in Firefox

Firefox support page suggested setting Connection to Auto-Detect but this did not resolve issue.

Hyperlinks don't do anything - they don't launch Safari either.

I uninstalled Viewpoint Media Player, which fixed my problem with the plugincheck tab always opening. Viewpoint Media Player is responsible for the plugin called "MetaStream 3 Plugin r4", and I believe this plugin is triggering Firefox to open the plugincheck page. It is not enough to disable the plugin, it must be uninstalled.
Since it seems you don't have the "MetaStream 3 Plugin", it may be that some other plugin is causing the plugincheck tab to pop open. Try going to Tools (menu) -> Add-ons -> Plugins. Look through the list of plugins, and see if any of them have a red warning icon next to them. If one of the plugins has a red warning icon, it may be the plugin responsible for triggering the opening of the tab. Try uninstalling that plugin, or updating it to a newer version.
