Entourage & Exchange 2003 SP2

Hi there,
Hopefully someone out there will be able to help with this.
We are a predominately MS house, but have a PowerMAC G5 running 10.4.6 and Entourage 2004.
The MAC has been running happily for many months, then yesterday we upgraded Exchange 2003 to SP2 (Never had SP1 installed). Now Entourage doesn't work at all.
It seems to authenticate correctly when it first opens but doesn't actually synchronise the folders at all.
I have a feeling this is based on certificates, but my and the rest of the IT teams OSX knowledge is a little thin on the ground.
Anyone have any idea's or heard of this before?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
m0k0.

Figured out a setting was wrong within VPN - But still having the same issue when connected via Vodaphone 3G dongle

  • Exchange 2003 SP2 messages stuck in queue

    HI
I just inherited a exchange 2003 SP2 machine and next month we are migrating to 365.  But here is what happen so far and the issue
    1.  The previous IT company had the emails flowing thru smart host via their own hosted spam filter.
    2.  I came in and changed my MX records and installed a on server spam filter (ORF) by Vamsoft and configured it.  Removed the smart host info and made sure that the firewall is all configured properly.
    3.  Tested in bound email.
    4.  Problem.  Out bound emails go thru till the server.  Some users get a delayed email but others do not.  The messages are stuck in the outbound Queue.  restarted the SMTP and still no luck.  Disabled Spam filter (ORF) still
    no luck.
Then I looked at anything which is common.
mails to msn.com & Hotmail.com are stuck.  Emails to my company tejes.com are stuck.  There are other few companies but do not know their email provider but the common theme between these 3 domains all are hosted by Microsoft.  tejes.com
    is on office365.
    I need help.  Please

Update: Fixed it.  The previous company had filters in place.

  • Migration; Exchange 2003 SP2 to Exchange 2013 on new Domain and DC

I wasn't prepared for this task, and it was thrown at me to do...  Eyes are bleeding from planning reading and planning, would LOVE any input from you guys.  First time posting, here and have heard great things about these forums.  The Company
I work for obtained a new client and a network that is in a cluster at the moment, so I'm having to dig through everything and restructure..
    Scenario:
    Old Domain/Server: (To be decommissioned)
Server 2003 Standard SP2 (Domain: cosco.com; NETBIOS name: coscoex)
    Exchange 2003 SP2 (6.5.7638.1)
Server is a domain controller and exchange server.
    Migrating to:
Server 2012 R2 Datacenter (New Domain ad.cosco.com; NETBIOS name: cosco)
    VM #1: Server 2012 R2 Domain Controller at 2012 R2 Functionality
VM #2: Server 2012 R2 with Exchange 2013 Standard (Not Yet Installed) Joined to ad.cosco.com domain
VM #3: Server 2012 R2 with Exchange 2010 (Not Yet Installed) joined to ad.cosco.com domain
These are probably not ideal conditions, but I have to work with what I'm given.
Host server (2012 R2) is in work group mode.  Hyper V Installed with a VM of Server 2012 R2 and as a DC at a functionality level of Server 2012 R2.  I had intended starting at a lower functionality level and raising
it later, but.... ya I forgot to change it.  If needed I can spool up a new DC with a lower functional level.
DNS, AD and group policy is all jacked up on the 2003 DC so that doesn't matter, All user accounts are going to be created under the new domain.  The concern is migrating the mailboxes from Exchange 2003 on the old domain to
Exchange 2013 on the new domain.  The client is going to provide CSV of the AD accounts that are still valid (a lot of accounts are no longer used or are from people that no longer with the organization.)
I had some ideas, but I'm not sure if they will work.  This is something I have never done before (Senior Engineer Quit).
    My thoughts:
    - Establish a two way trust relationship between the two domains.
    - Create two VM's, one with Exchange 2010 and one with Exchange 2013 (They have a 2010 licence that was not used).
    - Create the users on the new domain
    - Use the double hop method from Exchange 2003 > Exchange 2010 > Exchange 2013
    - Link Exchange accounts to the correct user accounts on the new DC.
Can this be done cleanly? Am I going about this the correct way?  Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated.
Note: We are forced to use ad.cosco.com (Obviously not the actual domain name)

    Hi,
Base on my experience, your idea is feasible.
However, before getting started, you should note that Exchange 2010 (with any service pack or update rollups) is not (yet) supported to install on Windows 2012 R2. More details refer to the following link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/ff728623(v=exchg.150).aspx
After all the preparations complete, you can refer to the following articles to migration exchange 2003 to 2010, then to 2013:

  • Can't connect to Exchange 2003 SP2 using BIS

    Hi,
I'm a network administrator for a small company. We have a user with a Blackberry 8830, and they'd like to access their Exchange account from the device. We're running Exchange 2003 SP2.
I attempted to set this up on the Blackberry and got the following error:
"Cannot connect to email server or invalid server name. Please verify the Outlook Web Access URL. If the error persists, contact antarcticadigital.com (your email provider)."
The user received an email with the following info:
Your attempt to configure the BlackBerry Internet Service to deliver mail to your BlackBerry device from this email account was unsuccessful. This email provides instructions to help with the email account set up.
    You submitted the following information:
    Account Type:
    Outlook Web Access
    Email Address:
    [email protected]
    User Name:
    connectusdirect\person
    Password:
****** (For security the password is not displayed.)
    Mail Server:
    https://mail.xyz.com/exchange/
    [removed personal information]
For historical reasons, our Windows domain name is connectusdirect, while the email domain is different (antarcticadigital.com).
I've set this up before when I had a blackberry of my own, and it worked OK for me - so I'm not sure why we're having a problem with this user's account.
On our mail server, I'm seeing the following in the IIS logs for the OWA site. These are coming from a RIM-controlled IP:

    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hello,
I don't have any ideas yet but can chime in with "me too".
A customer has an Exchange 2003 SP2 server (MS Server 2003 for SBS). It has a self-signed SSL certificate that does not expire until June 2011.
One user has some species of Blackberry that can pick up his email (but not contacts or calendar) via OWA. I can see his accesses in the IIS log and they are coming from IP addresses resolving to (stuff).bise.na.blackberry.com and are not getting 404's.
Another user is trying to set up his new Blackberry via BIS. His accesses in the IIS log are coming from different IP addresses that resolve to (stuff).bis.ap.blackberry.com and these are getting 404's.
An ExpertsExchange.com article - http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Web_Servers/Microsoft_IIS/Q_22806090.html - suggested putting the full email address into the OWA URL. This works fine in a browser but not in BIS. I still get the same error message from BIS and 404's in the IIS log.

  • Single Inbox on Unity Connection 8.5 and Exchange 2003 SP2

    Hi,
We have Unity Connection 8.5 (with SU2) and Exchange 2003 SP2
We want to setup the Single Inbox feature that works well with Exchange 2007 and 2010, but my customer is running Exchange 2003 SP2.
We met all of the requirements outlined in: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/requirements/8xcucsysreqs.html#wp459928
I configure a new "Unified Messaging Services" profile for Exchange using Exchange 2003 and enabled for Single Inbox.  When I run "Test" it displays the following errors (other validation is successfully)
The service port for IMAP is not functioning.
The system failed to connect to the server with a socket connection through port beatles.clubone.com:993. The error is error:0200206F:system library:connect:Connection refused. Refer to the tomcat log file for more details. If you are using secure connection, confirm that SSL is enabled on the server.
Why is it trying to connect using IMAP, that wasn't the case when I used for Exchange 2007 or 2010 when IMAP was not enabled.
Is there something else I'm missing for configuration with Unity Connection to support Single Inbox with Exchange 2003 SP2?
    Thank you!

    - B (Exchange 2010)
we want to migrate from A to B. the two organisations have to coexist during the migration (6 months). during this time the users have to share the same GAL and Calendar (Busy/Free informations).
What are the steps to follow ?
is there any docs/links treat this subject ?

    Hi,
You can use FIM for GALSYNC.

  • Exchange 2003 SP2: 'Cannot get mail' - another one...

    Background info:
I am running a budget exchange system, much like other small businesses out there. I have a self signed cert from an internal CA that i have installed on the exchange server and installed on the iphone. I dont get any cert errors when I log into OWA or OMA with SSL from safari on the phone so it would seem the cert is installed properly.
The only thing that likely differs from my environment is that we have a dynamic IP and use a pop3 connector to download pop3 email into the respective recipients mailboxes from a cheap pop provider and hence we dont own our own domain, instead we use dyndns.org to to update dns records (which works flawless/seemlessly)for us when our dynamic IP changes. So our email addresses are [email protected] while our owa/oma address is a totally different domain - comapnyname.domain2.com. I cant image that this would matter but I figured I would put it all out there anyway.
I have run this test numerous times:
    https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/
and my server passes with flying frigging colors, I just have to enable the ignore trusts option as our cert is signed by an internal CA (like I said, budget).
So, WM devices, entorage, and outlook with rpc over https all work flawlessly. But this FRIGGING iphone wont. I get through the exchange configuration just fine using various settings. I have tried it with and without the domain option, and I have tried entering the username with and without the DOMAIN\username.
Every possible combination goes through fine, in the setup. Then I end up with the same result. After the setup finishes, I go to the inbox for the exchange account and it says up-to-date with no items. no contacts or calendar items download either. After a while, if i go back into the same inbox I get the "Cannot get mail" error.
I have been googling this for days and I have yet to find a solution. Not to mention I, myself, am an MCSE w/ messaging and I have yet to come up with a solution on my own. My server works fine, nothing wrong there - it works with every device but this iphone. The only solution I have seen so far is to pay 175 bucks to one of these iphone messaging specialists to have them fix it, which isnt happening. Any advice you guys may have would be great... thanks.

I have used my iPhone with 2003 SP2 and self signed certs. I am trying to understand more about your domain names - you say you don't own your domain, but then you say you are using Dyndns.
I want to assume that you do own the domain name, just not a static IP to go with it. If the IP changes frequently, push will not work very well.
If you are using a self-signed cert then you MUST import the root cert that did the signing. This a the public part - not the private key. If OWA and Exchange are different domains then they have different root certs.
If you can hit the Exchange server domain via IE, you can view certs, then save the root. Then email the root to the phone (using gmail or some pop3 account) and import it. That will fix any cert issues.
I mention this, as you don't mention anywhere that you have imported the signing certs root.

    Hi Johnny,
    How about the

According to your first post, I know that the only issue now is Mobile cannot connect to Exchange server. Please correct me if there is any misunderstanding.
Please run following command to check whether the ActiveSynce is eanbled on Exchange server:
    Get-CASMailbox -Identity testaccount | fl
Please check whether the ActiveSyncEnabled Parameter's value is True. If it is Fals, please run following commant to enable all users' ActiveSync on this Exchange server:
    Get-CASMailbox | Set-CASMailbox -ActiveSyncEnalbed $True
Is there any error message pop up when mobile cannot connect to Exchange server?
Also suggest ask ActiveSync forum for help so that you can get more professional suggestions. For your convenience:

  • Exchange 2003 sp2 to exchange 2007 sp1 upgrade error

    Hi,
We had Windows 2003 DCs and Exchange 2003 servers. We migrated AD DCs to windows 2008 R2 at parent domain.
We have one parent domain and 10 child domains in remote sites .3 remote sites have been migrated to windows 2008 R2.
Now at parent domain I am trying to install exchange 2007 SP1 on a server with windows 2008 R2 SP1. I am facing certain issues:
    1. When I run setup /PrepareSchema on this new exchange server , the organization check fails with error stating that : cannot find at least one DC running windows 2003 SP1 or later in DC=xyx,DC=com. This could be the result of moving DC objects in AD. Check
that at least one DC running windows server 2003 SP1 or later is located in the "Domian Controllers" OU and rerun setup".
    2. When I try to install exchange server 2007 , I get the following error
Object cannot be saved because its ExchangeVersion property is 0.10 (14.0.100.0), which is not supported
by the current version 0.1 (8.0.535.0). You will need a later version of Exchange.".
Can any one shed light on this issue.
    Regards
    Syed
    sa

You cannot install Exchange 2007 SP1 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 as it is unsupported.
Only version of Exchange 2007 supported when OS is Windows 2008 R2 or R2 SP1 is Exchange 2007 SP3.
Where are you installing Exchange ? child or parent domain ?
    2. When I try to install exchange server 2007 , I get the following error "Object
cannot be saved because its ExchangeVersion property is 0.10 (14.0.100.0), which is not supported by the current version 0.1 (8.0.535.0). You will need a later version of Exchange.".
Above error indicates that Exchange setup is trying to modify
a version of an object which might have been created when organization is prepared for Exchange 2010. don't you have exchange 2010 Servers already in your environment ?
Please give more information about your current email infrastructure
and whether if you are installing exchange on parent or child domain?

The downloading process for mailbox <[email protected] [mail.XXXXXXXXXXXXX.co.uk]> was ended with one or more errors.
The Server has 3GB memory and 64GB free disk space on the parttiion supporting Exchange
Can anyone suggest a troubleshooting scheme?

Is this machine running SBS? Is this an error that's logged by the kludgy POP3 connector? If so, that connector isn't part of Exchange -- it's something the SBS folks added. You'll have to ask our question in a SBS forum.
Keep in mind that a POP3 server will lock the mailbox if the messages are being checked by another client (unlike Exchange which allows multiple POP3 sessions). That would cause those 1035 errors to be logged by Exchange.
When you combine the 1035 with the 1023 events it looks more like connectivity problems than an Exchange problem. You might want to use a network monitor and see if the connection's being dropped.
In any case, good luck with Exchange 2003. It's no longer supported -- but I don't think your problem is related to Exchange but to the SBS add-on software.

  • Read/Unread, Replied, & Forwarded status not syncing with Exchange 2003 SP2

Is there a solution to the email status syncing issue for Microsoft Exchange 2003? It had never work since the day we setup the exchange account on the iphone. Any suggestion is appreciated.
I posted the above question in May 2009. iOS is now at 4.2.1, I guess Apple has no plan on addressing these. Would it work with the latest Microsoft Exchange?

Read/Unread worked for me when we were on Exchange 2003, and it continues to work now that we are on 2007. So it's probably an issue in your Exchange server.

  • IPhone4s - Exchange 2003 sp2

I've searched and searched for this problem and it seems to be common, but nothing suggested works.  I keep getting UNABLE TO VERIFY ACCOUNT INFORMATION.I have verified that OWA works from the outside and he was able to log in though OWA. So I know his credentials are correct. For the server, I enter mymail.mydomain.comFor domain I enter MYDOMAINFF (for some reason that is how this network was set up..the userdnsdomain is mydomain.com but the userdomain is MYDOMAINFF.  Email address is entered as it is in [email protected] keep getting "UNABLE TO VERIFY ACCOUNT INFORMATION.". By the way..I should also mention this is OWA is not on an SSL connection.
I installed the ActiveSync Tester app on the iPhone and when I run it (and set SSL to OFF), it passes ALL THE TESTS!  However when I go back into SETTINGS/MAIL to set up the account, I get UNABLE TO VERIFY ACCOUNT!
Any help would be most appreciated.

I am in the I.T department.  This is our first experience with iPhone and we are in no way an Apple shop.  I was hoping since this is the "iPhone in the Enteprise" NG, someone might have come across this problem.
    Thanks.

  • Using exchange 2003 sp2, godaddy certificate

will not recognize the godaddy certificate. OWA does recognize it, can't sync with IPhone, any help

I have the same problem with the godaddy certificate on the iphone. I've tried installing the godaddy root certificate, but it didn't make any difference.

  • Compatibility Exchange Server 2003 SP2 and Domain controllers Windows Server 2008 R2

Hi all, I have this scenario:
    - Two Domain Controllers Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2
    - Two mail servers Exchange Server 2003 with the following version:
      6.5 (Build 7638.2 Service Pack 2)
I want to upgrade my domain controllers to Windows Server 2008 R2.
My question is whether exchange Server 2003 6.5 (Build 7638.2 Service Pack 2) is supported with Domain Controllers Windows Server 2008 R2.
Can you tell me some official Microsoft website where this reflected?
    regards

Exchange Server 2003 SP2 supports DCs running Windows Server 2008 R2. These DCs should be RWDCs and not RODCs:
Exchange 2003 SP2 will now be supported against writeable Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory Servers.  Additionally, with the General Availability of Exchange Server 2010, and those looking to standardize on Windows
Server 2008 R2 we have enhanced the supportability of forest and domain functional levels up to Windows Server 2008 R2.  This change is effective immediately on Exchange 2003 SP2.

  • Exchange Server 2003 SP2 - Forest and Domain Functional Level Limitations

    Hi All
Bit of a legacy question and theres not much clarity out there..
I need to confirm the highest DFL and FFL Supported by Microsoft for Exchange 2003 SP2?
We currently have a mix of 2003 R2 and 2008 R2 domain controllers with the FFL and DFL currently set at 2003 R2.
The plan is to move to Exchange 2010 in the very near future, so the question is do we need to wait until we upgrade to Exchange 2010 Before upgrading the DFL and FFL to 2008 R2?
From what Ive read we will need to complete the Exchange upgrade first before moving forward with the functional level upgrades..
    Thanks in advance
    Bull

    Hi Bull,
As Ed mentioned, Exchange server 2003 and Exchange 2010 support Windows Server 2003 domain functional level and Windows Server 2003 forest functional level, also supported in higher environment.
More details about it, please refer to “Supported Active Directory environment” section:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff728623(v=exchg.150).aspx
Note that we cannot add new DCs which are the less version of Windows Server
cannot be added to the domain or forest. More details about
the Impact of Upgrading the Domain or Forest Functional Level, for your reference:
