Entourage (Exchange) to iCal iPhone calendar time shift making my head hurt

I use Entourage on an Exchange server for my calendar. I create all events there, not on the iPhone.
Yesterday I noticed I received an invitation to a meeting that started at 8 a.m. in Entourage. The pop-up blue push notification on my iPhone said it started at 3 p.m.
In Mail, Contacts, Calendars my husband found the Time Zone Support and turned it off, which seemed to fix it.
Today I was looking for an event on Dec. 31 on my iPhone, and it was not there. I looked in Entourage and it was where expected. I deleted it in Entourage and re-added, it still did not show up on the iPhone.
I turned off calendars and deleted them on the iPhone, then re-enabled and the event was still not there.
I also noticed that an event on Dec. 25 from 3 p.m.-5:30 p.m. incorrectly shows as ending a day later at 5:30 p.m. on the iPhone.
I turned Time Zone Support back on and set it to my time zone, and found my Dec. 31 event on Jan. 1 on the iPhone. In the Month view it shows as starting at 7 p.m., which is correct. If I click the event to view details, it says Jan. 1 from 2:30 a.m.
I created a test event in Entourage Dec. 28 at 3 p.m. On the iPhone in month view it shows up Dec. 28 at 3 p.m., but if I click the event to view details it says the event starts at 10 p.m. Dec. 28.
Does anyone know how I can fix this time warp??

With Time Zone Support off on the iPhone, new events I add via Entourage are showing up one day late in the month view on the iPhone.

  • Since Time Change, iCal and iPhone Calendar Time Are All Messed Up

Ever since the most recent daylight-savings time change, I noticed all events I created in iCal, when synced with my iPhone, became an hour off. If I edit the event on the iPhone, it stays the correct time on my iPhone, but when it syncs with iCal again, the time on iCal goes off by another hour, even though the time for the event on the iPhone stays correct. (Hopefully that makes sense) Has anyone else experienced this problem? It is incredibly annoying, because now I have no trust in any of my calendar entries as to what the correct time is.
As an example: I created an event for Sunday the 16th on iCal on my Mac for a 1-hour soccer game from 8:00PM - 9:00PM. When I synced my iPhone, I noticed a few days later that the event on my iPhone now said the event was from 9:00PM - 10:00PM...one hour off! I edited the event on my iPhone, and re-synced. Now my iPhone has the correct time (which I manually edited on the phone) but iCal now says the event goes from 7:00PM - 8:00PM. Again, an hour off, but in the reverse direction (an hour off early, rather than late). When I sync now, even though the times on the iPhone and the times on iCal don't match, they do not change...it's as if either the computer or the phone didn't recognize daylight savings time or something, and thinks it has the correct time for the event. Both my Mac and my iPhone's clocks do display the correct time and date, however, so it's not like the system clock is off. It is completely bizarre, and I entered my entire teams schedule this way, so ALL games were off, and now is completely screwed up. Please help.

Yes, I did. I posted an identical post in the iPhone forum since no one answered here. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1791145&tstart=0
The first reply solved the problem. It involved the Time Zone setting in iCal Advanced preferences for me.

  • ICal+iPhone Calendar+Google Calendar and mobile me

I have an iPhone 3g 2.1.... i am running the most recent version of Mac OSX and i have the newest iCal installed on my mac... My google calendar syncs with iCal through CalDAV. I also have Mobileme and it syncs with iCal. I want to be able to have a sync between iCal,Google Calendars and iPhone. I thought this would work with Mobileme. When i set up my calendar and google calendar it creates a different calendar.... I need the same calendar synced between all three..

IE: you don't have to sync your iphone with your computer. Instead, when you edit or add an event in your google calendar it will automatically update your iphone's calendar over the cell network, without you doing anything. Also, if you add or edit an event on your iphone's calendar, it will automatically update your google calendar as well. That way, you don't have to mess with ical. Just use google calendar and your iphone's calendar.
Since you've already got your iCal synching with your google calendar via CalDAV, your iCal will come along for the ride.
Thus, you can do all this for free, without mobileme, and without even having to plug your iphone into your computer to synch it.
Go to this website to check out Nuevasync. http://www.nuevasync.com/ You have to sign up for a free account, but it doesn't take long and they won't spam you or anything. Then go to "device setup instructions" and It will tell you how to set it up on your iphone. I've been using it for about 3 months now and it works great. (I don't work for them or anything, just love their service!)

I've considered using NuevaSync, but it looks like it will use my gmail contacts instead of address book? Is this true? I'd prefer to keep the address book.
Honestly, If I was able to edit calendars that I have synced with iCal from Google through CalDav(CalDev?) I'd be fine, (Right now iCal syncs with Google and my iPhone synce with iCal), but when I add an event on the iPhone, it doesn't allow me to edit any of the synced calendars. I can only edit a separate, unsynced calendar. Does anyone have any idea how to edit a synced calendar?

  • Google Calendar/iPhone Calendar Time Missmatch

So I've synced my google calendar with my iPhone and all the events are listed 2 hours earlier on the iPhone calendar. I've tried deleting the account and re syncing using the goole set up and CalDAV pathways.
Syncing the same goole calendar to my MacBook has no problems.
But, I have the same problem syncing my google calendar to my iPad.
Please tell me I'm not the only one with this problem.

    Check Settings>General>Time and Date
    and
    Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Time Zone Support.
Turn "Time Zone Support" to OFF or ensure the Time Zone is correct.
Props to John Chavez for the answer.

  • Calendar times shifted forward 11:30 hrs on iphone

All of the appointments on my iPhone 3Gs shifted forward 11 hours and 30 minutes. This was not after a sync or any other change to the phone. The time on the phone itself remains correct.
I have not yet synced my phone with the iMac as I am afraid that new (undesired) iPhone times will override the times I currently have on iCal on the iMac
    Any ideas/help?

    Here we go!
The problem seems to be with Microsoft Exchange Server and ActiveSync. You can read more of that here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/a4b3fc0d-c3 45-4d8b-bdd9-e218c616fe72
    And here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3245017
And a short and sweet example from Microsoft here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2549255/en-us
Now that we are aware of occurences other than what we were having, we sought the solution, which we think is found here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324   (Read Issue 1.6)
If you are having similar problems and think Update Rollup 1 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2 (SP2) may work for you, you can find that here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28809
We are scheduling a server update with our company for this weekend. If everything goes according to plan and this fixes the issue, I will post an update. If not, I will let you know that too.

  • Entourage/iCal/iPhone calendar sync

Just bought an iPhone but can only seem to get some of my calendar data to sync to it.
I've been using a Palm Tungsten syncing wtih Entourage (Office 2004) through the Palm/Entourage conduit.
Now I've changed all my sync settings so that Entourage goes through sync services, and .mac syncs the address book, calendar and notes, and set my .mac to sync these as well...but only the events actually created in Entourage's calendar get copied, none of the events created in the handheld (though they all exist in Entourage) are syncing. In Entourage these events look no different from the other events, can't sort this one out.
So I googled around and found a script: "Sync Entourage - iCal 2" which fixed absolutely nothing...
Since 99% of my calendar events are created in my handheld, this is a major issue. Anyone seen this before? Anyone solved this before?

It sounds like the entrouage calendar in ical has become corrupted.
First, have you turn on syncing with ical in the entrouage preferences.
If so, turn off the preference to sync with ical.
open isync in your applications folder.
reset sync history from the isync preferences.
delete the entrouage calendar in ical.
then turn on syncing entrouage with ical from the entrouage preferences.
then wait and let entrouage sync with ical and it should recreate the entrouage calendar in ical.
make sure there is an event in entrouage that it can move to ical.
Now try syncing the iphone with ical.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone calendar time problem post daylight savings time change

Addendum to the similar post about a one hour differential between iCal and iPhone. THis is not just iCal. I have the same problem on WIndows XP/Outlook 2003. Everythign worked fine until the time change last weekend. Now this is what happens:
Any meeting set up in Outlook BEFORE Daylight Savings that has a start date BEFORE Daylight Savings appears properly on iPhone. FOr example, every Thursday beginning Nov 1 at 8am. THis shows up correct in iPhone at 8am for today, Nov 8.
But, any meeting set up AFTER Daylight Savings shows up one hour later on the iPhone when I sync. SO a meeting I set up in OUtlook for 10am today shows up at 11am on the iPhone.
And, any calendar event I set up on the iPhone AFTER Daylight Savings shows up one hour earlier in Outlook 2003.
THis is a huge problem for me! Both of my calendars are wrong now. PLease help!!! I have tried everything I can:
I tried setting up meetings with the OUtlook Daylight Savings setting enables and disabled: no change. No differnce whether I set up the meeting on my PC or it is an invitation from someone else. I lost all sync history. no change. I overwrote all calendar content (in iPhone advanced options) - no change.
And, as my fellow poster mentions - the tiime on the two systems match.

I think this problem is more complex. Background - UK clocks went back at the end of October; the USA went back one week later. I am in the UK and my Outlook calendar contains appointments created in the USA.
Someone in the USA created a recurring appointment before any clocks went back. In Outlook everything is correct. The meeting times are the same each week except for the one week between the two clock changes when, quite correctly, the meeting shows up one hour earlier. When I sync with my iPhone, the meeting shows at the same time every week regardless - this is incorrect.
Someone in the USA created a recurring appointment in the week after the UK clocks went back but before the USA clocks did. Outlook correctly shows the first occurrence as one hour earlier than all the following occurrences. Unfortunately - and this is the really nasty bit - the iPhone shows ALL the appointments one hour earlier than they should be. The only one that is correct is the first one.
This is a nasty bug and something that Apple needs to fix.

  • Exchange 2010 and iphone calendar sync issues

    Hey,
I know this question has been asked plenty of times before and just need a straight resolution. We have just migrated our environment to Exchange 2010 and the major issue is that when an event is created in Outlook 2011 it is not always showing up on their iphone and also vis versa. Is their a resolution to this problem so I can implement it in an emergency change. Thank you for all your help!

Here let me explain the scenario again any user who logs in to exchange from outlook working fine password not expired and he has iphone active sync working no issues , now while all devices are working when he starts his ipad after a week or so when he
opens his email on ipad it prompts the password on ipad and same time on iPhone , he does not want to enter the password and wants a technical justification , I told the user something to do with Exchange 2010 sp2 and ios 7 ,but that is invalid justification
. if you have any other valid justification please let me know. or a solution to this issue. user wants to login without any password prompt while the password is saved in device and not expired , is there any feature in Exchange 2010 sp2 that would recognize
how many days device has not logged it and would force to enter the password.

Thanks. I was having the same problem. I downloaded the San Diego Chargers' schedule from their website, and it was showing the correct times on my iMac, but my iPhone was always 1 hour ahead. I found that I had "Time Zone Support" turned ON, but didn't have a time zone selected. I selected "Pacifica" for my time zone and now all the game times correct.

  • Time Zones not correctly converted in iPhone Calendar

Problem with recurring meetings that were scheduled by a meeting organizer in a different time zone than my "home" time zone (as configured on the iPhone time zone support).
I am unable to sync or connect directly to my corporate Exchange Calendar due to strict corporate security settings. However, I am able to publish my calendar from Outlook 2007 to the internet. I am publishing my calendar to Office Live. I can then subscribe to my Office Live calendar from the iPhone (3Gs iPhone OS 3.1). Single occurrence meetings seems to translate time zone information fine. In all cases (single or recurring from any time zone) show up fine when I view them via Office Live and/or Outlook 2007.
The problem is the recurring meetings that were originally scheduled in a different (than my "home" time zone that I have configured on my iPhone Calendar time zone support settings) are showing up in the iPhone Calendar incorrectly. A meeting scheduled for 10:00 AM CST is showing up in my iPhone at 10:00 AM PST instead of 08:00 AM PST. I tried turning off time zone support on the iPhone but it didn't make any difference. I believe that setting is really only for meetings scheduled from the iPhone. The setup I described above is a read-only setup from an iPhone perspective.
Interesting that single occurrence meetings work fine... Is this just a bug in the iPhone Calendar app or issue with the way Microsoft represents time zones in recurring meetings?
I should also note that the iPhone Calendar also appears to have problems when a single occurrence of a recurring meeting is changed as well.

How about putting together the information about this nasty bug at a single place in this forum?

  • Exchange and iPhone Calendars not separated

My iPhone 3GS is sync with the Exchange Calendar of my company. I can see the exchange and local iPhone calendar, but they are both labeled "Calendar" with color code next to each.
For some reason, my wife iPhone is on the same version and model as mine - 3.1.3 / MC132ZP, and she also sych with the same Exchange server, but her calendar list is sub-labeled into "Calendar" and My Exchange "Calendar". I prefer the way her Calendars are grouped and labeled as it is much clearer. This kinds of bother me. Even there is color code next to the Calendar list on my iPhone, but just wondering how I can get mine behave the same as my wife's phone.
    Thank you for your help.

Are you using iCloud? Go to Settings/Mail, Contacts.... and try turning off Contacts on one device and then turning it back on.

  • Ipad/iphone shifts calendar times +1hr after syncing with Outlook or ical

    Hi,
I am having a problem when I sync my (PC) outlook calendar to my iphone(OS4.1) or ipad.(And my wife is having exactly the same problem when she syncs her iphone/ipad with her macbook pro (she uses ical/snow leopard)).
I live in a time zone that is GMT +3hrs. There is no summer time change here. Both devices are set to GMT +3Hrs with no summer time changes / daylight savings.
Every month I upload a calendar electronically to Outlook (from a program called Roster2Outlook) and occasionally enter some data into it manually on my PC and on my iphone/ipad.
    The problem is this:-
When I sync my PC with my iphone/ipad the times on the iphone/ipad are always 1 hour later than displayed on my calendar in outlook on my PC. I then have to modify the times on my iphone and take off 1hour. If I enter an event on my iphone it appears in my calendar in Outlook 1 hour earlier (after a sync).
I get several monthly changes to my schedule and then when I update my outlook calender and sync it to my iphone again, all the times appear 1Hr later on my iphone and have to be manually adjusted.
This may seem trivial, but when one event is added on one device and it shows up at a different time on another device, it gets very confussing, as you never know which time is correct in your calendar, as it depends on which device you entered it and whether you synced it or not! I am tearing my hair out.
I also sync my calandar to my ipad, which appears to be doing the same thing.
So, to cut a long story short, any idea's why this is happening and how to fix it? (Please don't tell me I have the wrong time zone set on a device - because I haven't - they are all on the same time zone!)
I did have an idea that I could "shift" the calendar that I electronically upload to Outlook back by 1 Hour, so that the times would be 1Hr wrong in outlook but correct on my iphone and ipad (the devices that I predominantly use) but this still doesn't solve the problem of it being a bodge!
Any ideas / solutions much appreciated. Anyone else having this problem?
    Please help!
    Cheers,
    i eye.

I figured out my iPad sync issue. First of all, I swore up and down I had all my time zone preferences set correctly in both google calendar and on my iPad. I was wrong.
There are two places in google calendar that can cause an issue:
    (1) Settings>Calendar Settings>General
    (2) Settings>Calendar Settings>Calendars>[Individual Calendar]
There are two places on the iPad to check:
    (1) Settings>General>Date & Time (however I think this might not do anything because.....)
    (2) Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Calendars>Time Zone Support (this was the elusive one for me)
But It's fixed now and I'm happy.

  • Can I sync my iPhone calendar with exchange server AND ical on my mac ?

I have been happily using my iPhone synced with my Macbook over usb via iTunes.
I have contacts and iCal syncing. I have a number of 'calendars' set up in iCal which allow me to view separate aspects of home and work but they all exist within iCal. iPhone just treats these as colour coded appointments (different colour for each ical calendar)
I really like this set up.
However, I just changed jobs to a firm where they have a hosted outlook exchange set up and I need to use the exchange calendar for work appointments and showing my availability.
I have managed to setup my iPhone to work with the Exchange server for email as well as in apple Mail on my mac. This has all worked fine. However, I hesitated when iPhone asked if i wanted to sync my contacts and calendar. I said no as I was unsure if my private calendar/contacts would be uploaded to the public work area.
In fact it seems that this is the least of my worries:
As I have read on apple support for iPhone:
"Note that after configuring an Exchange ActiveSync account, all existing contact and calendar information on the iPhone or iPod touch is overwritten. Additionally, iTunes no longer syncs contacts and calendars with your desktop computer. You can still sync your iPhone or iPod touch wirelessly with MobileMe services."
So I am really pleased that I didn't let it sync those and wipe out my personal data if that is really true.
But now I am unsure how best to enable myself to view and update the work calendar on exchange.
Also it would be nice to see work contacts on my iPhone.
    Contacts
    - although i have said no to sync contacts with Exchange in fact it looks like I can get contacts ok - when i send email from the Exchange account on the phone , it searches Exchange contacts on the server as i type in the TO box.
    - also in Contacts on the iPhone I have a new group that has been created with the name of my Exchange account. The group appears to be blank when you go into it on the phone, but you can type in the search box and get contact details from the server just fine.
This seems workable for now for my purposes, although updating contacts is not going to be possible that way.
I'd like more info on that if poss but more importantly..
    Calendar
    - Unlike Contacts, no Calendar has been auto created for Exchange
    - Unlike contacts, I can't see how I can view or search or create an appointment in my Exchange calendar on the iPhone
What is the best solution to this problem - I presume lots of people face the same dilemma. My initial research suggests that there are multiple ways round this but all of them look like workarounds with various disavantages.
    Questions are
    - Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
    - Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
    - What is the best work around for this?
At the moment I am seriously considering getting a separate iPhone for work and have that sync with Exchange fully although that seems a bit drastic and does not solve the problem of seeing work and home appointments on the same calendar.

Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
Only if you're running Snow Leopard and your employer will allow access (different than iPhone/mobile device access, so most likely not), but not needed - keep reading.
Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
No. It was true, but with the v3.0 software that changed - you can now sync your Exchange contacts and calendar over the air, and your Address Book and iCal via iTunes over the docking cable.
What is the best work around for this?
None needed. When you set up the exchange account, and choose to turn on syncing of contacts and calendars, you will be prompted to remove all other data, or keep it on the iPhone. Choose the keep option. Note that in that case, your personal data will not be uploaded to the Exchange server - the iPhone keeps them separate (although you can choose to view them in a merged fashion).
I have this set up on my phone (Exchange calendar along side personal and other calendars from iCal). Same for contacts. Works great.

Not sure this will work but if you go into the Keyboard preferences, then click the Keyboad Shortcuts tab, and then the '+', you can add your own shortcuts for any application.  I am not sure what happens if you try to override an existing shortcut since I haven't tried using this.
    Edit/Update:
Probably against my better judgement I'll also throw this out there - there's an Unsanity haxie called Menumaster which might also allow you to do what you want.  Against my better judgement because personally I stay clear of haxies.  It's (all haxies) probably almost certain to break in Lion.  They always do with each major release.

  • Iphone 4s exchange calendar time zones

I have a user with an iphone 4s and the time zones are not matching up when entering calendar events into Outlook (synching via Exchange on the iphone). all events entered into the outlook calendar are set to eastern time zones and we are in st. louis (central time zone). However, our server is hosted in the eastern time zone. Now, our hosting provider has set the time zone of our server to the central time zone so that should take care of the server side. what other things can we check to determine why the wrong time zone is being set?

    FOR CORRECT TIME ON CALENDAR:
Set both the time and your time zone on the Calendar Add Event page.
Set your time zone in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar>Time Zone Support.
Set your time zone in Settings>General>Date and Time.
