Entourage: iPhoto 9.4.1 not working!

I've found both 9.4 and 9.4.1 to be unstable. They are slower than previous versions, do not recognize or load my SD cards (it takes several insertions/ejections) and the worst part I can't email from Entourage. That feature was working in 9.4 for a moment, until I had mistakingly deselected "include file names and descriptions" and it crashed. After the crash, it's not an option at all. In previous iPhoto versions, this was a bug and you just had to keep those boxes checked to send iphotos via Enourage. That was an easy work-around.
Now I can't send it at all. Only through iPhoto and Mail. Outlook is greyed and Entourage isn't there.
Is Apple slipping?
The latest software "updates" are seemily disappointing downgrades. It's sad, but worse cutting into my productivity.

Appearently entrouge support has been dropped
Report to apple. IPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback
To work around you can export photos to a desktop folder sizing during the export and attach from there, drag photos to Entourage or attach using the Entourage attach command and the media browser in the lower left hand corner of to attach window

  • How do I uninstall the iPhoto update which does not work on maverick?

How do I uninstall the iphoto update which does not work. ie it tells me my library is locked out and the recommended action by apple does not open the phot library first aid. ? i need to go back to the old iphoto.

Terence, I was trying a way to message you directly - jumping on a recent thread seemed to be the only way (sorry, DEW45).
Terence, you seem to be the foremost expert on apeture and iphoto and have helped me many times in the past (thanks).  I have a question that you may be able to help with (anyone also feel free to take a stab).  I use blogger to upload my photos and host my blog (www.sippingespresso.com).  I spend hours organzing and editing photos - namely, I will enhance and sometimes alter an image in Apeture.  It always saves over the orginal file (at least for viewing purposes), which is fine by me.  But then when I go to upload the photos onto blogger it seems to always pull my dull, original image.  Obviously, I want the newer, bright, enhanced photo.
I'm one step away from importing them, dragging them out of iphoto and into Photoshop, then editing the files and dragging them back into iphoto, deleting the originals and uploading from there.  There HAS to be a better way - please help!!  I've already posted far too many boring images without the beauty of Apeture's "auto enhance".
Thanks in advance, Terence or anyone else.

in the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete your e-mail account and reenter it
    OR
IMHO the better solution is to set Apple mail as the email client in the iPhoto preferences

  • Navigating through photos in single-photo view in iphoto with trackpad is not working after installing new OS Mountain lion

I have recently download new OS Mountain lion on my macbook (white late 2010 model). I had snow leopard before.
On iphoto, when i was viewing my photos in a single-photo view (double clicking on a photo), i was unable to go to the next photo/previous photo using my trackpad. Only way i could do this was by pressing arrow buttons on my key board.
If i remember correctly, i was able to do this by using 3 fingers (sliding left to right or sliding right to left) on snow leopard.
I can navigate back and foward on my internet browser using two fingers. And yes, i have tried using my two fingers on iphoto but nothing happens.
I have checked my trackpad setting and everything seems to be right.
Any ideas how i could fix this?
    Thank You
    p.s. i have iphoto 09

This works here - but I'm on iPhoto 11. IIRC it worked on 09 too though.
    It's not working for me.

  • IPhoto Library Upgrader is not working for me.

I am running a Mac Mini 2.5 GHz Core i5.  (This is the base model of the current Mac mini as of August 2013.)  Running 10.8.4.
I am trying to get iPhoto to run with an old photo library from iPhoto 4.  (Yes, really.  It's a long story.)  I was happy to see that Apple put out iPhoto Library Upgrader, because I was expecting to have a hard time upgrading.  But it's not working for me.  I downloaded the Upgrader and ran it (several times).  However, when I try to start iPhoto from the old library, I still get the "To open your library with this version of iPhoto, it first needs to be prepared."
To save you from asking the obvious questions:
    1.  I ran the Upgrader, instead of just downloading it.
    2.  I am sure I selected the old library to be upgraded.
    3.  The Upgrader runs, tells me it's done, and asks me if I want to launch iPhoto.  When I say yes (or when I just launch iPhoto separately), I get the error message again.
    4.  iPhoto will not let me launch with the command option keys pressed.  I still get the error message.
    5.  I can launch with the option key pressed, but if I select the old library, I get the error message.
    6.  I can import the old library, but then I lose all my organization of photos.
    Any ideas will be appreciated.
    Nathan

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and try to open the "upgraded" libraryu again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • IPhoto Retouch - Grabbing pixels not working

    Hi all,
Apple says one can grab pixels from a different part of a picture in the Retouch tool in iPhoto.
It does not seem to be working with me. When I press the "option key" with the "Retouch" function on it switches the direction of the "Rotate" function. If I then point the mouse to the desired part of a picture and try to capture the color texture, absolutely nothing happens.
I anticipate thanks if you can provide guidance.
    Best, Tatsch

Option clicking on an area lets the Retouch toll  apply the texture of that area to areas it's applied to elsewhere  It's loosly akin to the Clone tool in other 3rd party editing apps but doesn't copy the reference pixels only its underlying texture.

  • Add photos to iphoto in mail will not work

As above the save/add photos to iphoto will not work in mail. I have all the software up to date and this is a feature i always use, until now?
Has anybody got any suggestions please?

This has been reported by other Users, and I notice it myself.  It is apparently a bug with the latest update they sent out for ML.  In the meantime I am right clicking on the photo in email, selecting Save to Desktop, and from there dragging the photo into iPhoto successfully.  A slow workaround, but hopefully we won't have to do this for too long before a bug fix.
    Hope this helps

  • IPhoto '11 Slideshow Settings not working

    running iphoto 9.2.3
not matter how many seconds i put into the "play each slideshow for X" setting
the slides only show for about 3 seconds.  that was last night
now i am putting in various durations (3-7 seconds long) but after i close window
and open it again then the duration is set back to 5 seconds every time but
the slides are showing for 3 seconds
have been making slideshows for family gatherings for over 7 years, first time
    to have this problem
    restarting computer did not work
disk utility and repair disk permissions did not work

yes, the problem still exits with a new library.
Have also tried holding down option and command key and then rebuilding thumbnails, repair database, and examine + repair permissions
however, i just noticed that the problem affects the theme "vintage" but did not affect the theme "ken burns."
in the interest of getting the suitcases packed and the family in the car i may just give up on vintage
lastly, looked for my file com.apple.iPhoto.plist and could not find it...which seems strange to me.
i also routinely use disk utility to repair permissions and notice that this iMac (2011) always has several pages of permissions to repair whereas my previous iMac (2006) would remain stable for a week. maybe my new mac is gamey?

  • IMovie '09 - How do I get photos in from iPhoto?  (It's not working!)

    Hi,
I have seen posts about difficulties accessing photos in iMovie '09 but can't seem to get it to work for me. I added more photos to iphoto and they won't show up in imovie. I put them in new folders then, but the folders show up with nothing inside. Then I try and drag and drop from iphoto and finder - into all sections of imovie and it still won't work. How do I do this?? I tried editing each photo in iphoto to see if that work work, but no luck still. I really want to add the last few photos to my project!
Thanks for any thoughts or insight!!

    Hi,
The problem can be that there is an '&' in the path to your iPhoto-library. I renamed some of my albums in iPhoto. For me this worked, but I'm still using iLife '06.
If this doesn’t help you can also just drag the photo’s from iPhoto into iMovie of iDVD.

  • IPhoto 9.6 Will Not Work

I installed iPhoto 9.6, and I'm able to access the app, but once in iPhoto I get a dialogue box stating, "The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto." When I click "upgrade" in the dialogue box, iPhoto shuts down. I have tried using the Library Repair Aid, and whenever I select any of the options, iPhoto shuts down. I have also tried using the iPhoto Library Upgrade application, and I get a message indicating that my photo library can be opened with iPhoto 9.6; however, I cannot access my photos in iPhoto 9.6, and as I stated earlier I cannot get beyond the library upgrade dialogue box once I’m in iPhoto. I have a iMac with OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.  What can I do to access my photos on iPhoto 9.6? I do have a back up of all my photos.
    Thanks.

if a new iPhoto library works, you could try the usual fixes to repair or rebuild the library, have you tried that?  But that will only work, if you are not victim of the "Old Masters" bug.
There are two ways to rebuild the library:  Make a backup before you try any of this:
To run the First Aid Tools, hold down the key combination alt/options and command while launching iPhoto. Keep holding down the keys, until you are seeing the First Aid panel. Then select "Rebuild Library" from the panel.
Rebuild with iPhoto Library Manager (download here: iPhoto Library Manager), as described by Terence Devlin in this post:
uprgraded to yosemite all good but iphoto crashes every time I attempt to upgrade the photo library

Granted I wasn't there to see it happen but I think my mom's computer here is a bit fubar based on something having been changed on her computer prior to the last security update. My guess is that her friends who think they are 'helping' are actually causing some real problems but I'm here now so I'm just trying to fix it with what I can.
Essentially neither her mail or iPhoto seems to be working. I've found a similar error message in other posts but what throws me for a loop is that, when I use the console log and look at the crash files for both applications, they are both telling me the exact same thing. Could they both be pulling the same file for use? I've already run the disk repair stuff, changed the permissions on the file and just about everything else I could think of - do I need to reinstall the application or perhaps the entire operating system?

Hi, I think I need to update my profile because my computer definitely says it has 10.4.11
I managed to solve the stickies and TextEdit issues by removing Butler in the end.

  • IPhoto '11 location pin not working

I just geotagged a bunch of photos in iPhoto 9.2.1 by adding a new location or moving the pin for existing locations in the small locations map in the Information pane of a picture / selection of pictures. After reviewing my changes I noticed that none of them got saved. I don't get the point of being able to move the location pin if the information I am providing (the correct location) does not get stored.
What am I doing wrong or why is this so user unfriendly?
I don't want to brag, but I wrote exactly this feature for a flickr competitor and it works like a charm. Uhmm... I mean it is the 21st century and geo metadata has been around for a while...

I actually have version 9.3 - would I still need this?
I may have solved the problem on my own... tried 'Repair Library' first, then 'Rebuild Library'.
It's importing the library right now but seems to be doing it with Duplicates.... I'm sure I will run out of disk space.  Any ideas?

  • Iphoto created slide would not work in FCE

I created a slide using Iphoto and saved it as a quicktime movie. When I imported it to Final Cut Express, it can only play the backqround music after I rendered it but not the photos. I thought FCE can accept any quicktime files but why is this not displaying properly?

    Format is DV/NTSC Anamorphic.
The trashing, repair and reboot seems to have fixed the problem. I can now see my video clips in the canvas and viewer. Audio works fine too.
Before this happened, I was also having trouble with a render completing before an error message appeared. I think it said Error message 41. What does that mean? If it happens again, any tips?
I am in the planning stages of upgrading my computer to a MacPro tower. Any suggestions on configuration of that system you'd like to give would be welcome.
