Entourage question

Forgive me if this question is answered elsewhere. I just bought my first Mac a week ago, the mac book pro. I was reading other posts about contacts, etc and several people reference entourage.. what is that? Is that a software for mac? Sorry if this is a stupid question

Entourage is the mac mail program within the Microsoft Office suite.

Since Entourage is not an Apple software product, there is no specific forum on Apple Discussions. However, you could post in the applicable OS forum.

  • Signature in Entourage question

I have a signature automatically setup to be included in emails. My issue is having them NOT be included automatically when I reply to someone. Most of the time I forget to not include it and end up having 5 images.
Is there a setting in Entourage where signatures will not be automatically included in replies or forwards?
    Thanks,
    Tom

I believe the only option you have to NOT include signature automatically is to edit the mail account where you have set up a signature and set the Default signature to "None" under Message Options.

  • Entourage Question: Enabling the "From" field for Send on Behalf emailing..

You know like in Outlook 2003 Pro you can enable the "From" field and send an email as someone else (so long as you have permission to so that is)? How do you enable that same field in Entourage 2004?
    best regards,
    pheidippides

    Hi,
Please make sure Domain1 is trusted by Domain2, then we can assign send as permission to Domain1 users for "DL System Admins" in Domain2.

  • Stupid Entourage Question

I'm drawning a blank here. I'm doing a backup, and can't recall or find out where Entourage stores your locally-saved mail. I'm using IMAP, but I archive my mail locally.

    Entourage stores everything in home/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office [2004/X] Identities/[your identity]/Database.

  • "Find Related Items" in Entourage (like Outlook on PC)?

    Hi,
I use Outlook on a Win XP machine at work and Entourage on my Mac at home. I cannot find anywhere in Entourage where there is a command that behaves the same as the "find related items" command does in Outlook. I use this extensively on my work computer because it automatically finds any messages in my inbox and sent items which belong to the same thread and allows me to quickly select all those
messages and file them in another folder together.
There is a "Find Related Items" command in my Edit menu in Entourage but it is always greyed out. From what I can read about it, it will only find "related" items which I have manually created links to. Not very helpful in my opinion. Is there a third party script or something which gives Entourage the same functionality as Outlook?

If you don't get an answer here, there is a help
    newsgroup devoted to Entourage:
I tried there first and have gotten no replies. I saw that others were asking Entourage questions in this forum so thought I'd give it a shot. Any solutions I get from either forum I will make sure to post to the other forum.

  • New account, Entourage info gone...

I'm working on a client's mac, and 2 users need to work on the computer, so I setup another account. No prob. I'm no Entourage expert though. The administrator account has Entourage, with 2 users in it, so the ladies were simply opening Entourage, and choosing which user they were and bam.
So, I setup the new account, and when I opened Entourage, it retained no settings from before. Fine I went to Entourage on the admin side and exported everything. Didn't work. I re-plugged in all the settings for the one user - same thing. It connects, but all the stuff they had on the sides and whatnot is gone.
I know this is more an Entourage question, but also an account question. I even copied the Microsoft User Data folder or whatnot into the new account.
    any ideas?

Ok-- you gotta be kidding me! After a little more research, I read somewhere that by "re-naming" the "Microsoft User Data" folder with all the Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac files, it will erase the email Entourage email database?  All I did was re-name it with a "Z" in front of it to push it down in my folders list. That can't possibly be true, can it?  I can't restore, rebuild or "switch identities" to get my data back!!!  Somebody help, if you can. Thanks.  Worst case, is that I have a much older harddrive back up that I think I can restore my folders..... Ugh.

  • IPhone Entourage Blackberry

I have a pretty complicated setup and looking for suggestions. Here's the situation:
I have a hosted Exchange account and use a Blackberry Server (BES) to synchronize my contacts. I use Entourage on the Mac to view my contacts and my assistant uses Entourage or Outlook to make changes to my contacts and calendars.
I now have the shiny new iPhone and I want to sync all of this information with it, but I notice when I use sync services, information is sometimes lost and/or has different formats.
Is there a safe and reliable way for all of my devices to play nicely with each other?

Entourage questions should be posted on Microsoft's own Mac forums for Entourage

    Well, I certainly use Outlook!
Indeed! I still use Entourage (Office 2008) because, when Apple Mail first came out way back when, it was a wretched mess. I've now started using Mail for an extra account set up for the museum where I volunteer and find Mail has improved, but not enough to ween me off Entourage, which has never given me any problems, and I've used it since I upgraded to OS 10.2 sometime after the last Ice Age.
That said, if I have an Entourage question, I use the MS forums.

  • FYI on Apple Discussion Boards

I was on the apple discussion boards looking for an ical/entourage question. There are questions about BB's on there. I replied to one and sent the link for Mac's and BB's (this section). Mainly about syncing address book and iCal problems.
That's just something I thought I would post, not sure what you guys will do with it.

    I solved my own problem
I went to mactopia and found a way to import iCal to Entourage.
If you go to Apple Discussion Boards, and search for like Blackberry, Pocket Mac and Missing Sync you might find some interesting questions.

  • Thanks all for the great advice.  Another question.  If I use Entourage on my desktop Mac to access an email address I use on there, is it possible to be able to access my email on that same email address on my iPad either with or without Entourage?

Thanks all for the great advice.  Another question.  If I use Entourage on my Mac desktop to access my mail using an email address I have on there, is it possible to access my emails on that same email address on my iPad, either with or without using Entourage.  Is there an Entourage app, or something I could use?  Thanks...

Simply add the email account to Mail, no need for Entourage.
One word of warning, though, iPads tend to become community property (meaning anyone who uses your iPad can access your email). That is why I have zero email accounts on my iPad.
I use Entourage on my desktop as well, so going back and forth between Entourage and Mail (whether on your iPad or iPhone) is no problem.

  • ICal/Entourage sync question

Sorry, this might be long. I use Entourage primarily, with a Palm device; my husband uses iCal with a Palm device. I'm trying to figure out a way to get my calendar and his calendar syncing so that we can see each others' appointments.
Here's where i am now: Entourage syncs with iCal. I publish my iCal to www.icalx.com; he subscribes to that calendar (and vice versa.)
My question: I have my Entourage preferences set to have Entourage events override events in Sync Services, rather than merge (I was getting lots of doubled events before I chose this option.) If I download his calendar onto iCal on its own calendar (NOT on the calendar called "Entourage") will it either disappear (b/c Entourage events will override in the sync) or eat up my data in Entourage?
And...does anybody have any easier ways to do this? AppleTalk doesn't work and we got tired of exporting and emailing them to each other every morning to reflect updates. (Man, somebody should write an Apple Script to do that!) And I don't want to pay $99/year for a .Mac account just to do this.
Thanks, and sorry for the length.
    Heath

Entourage only syncs to iCal with the "Entourage" calendar. So, in iCal, you can have several other calendars in addition to the "Entourage" calendar, and Entourage will never touch them.
So, if you download your husband's calendar from icalx, you will not lose it when Entourage syncs w/ iCal.
Also, you will be able to publish your "Entourage" calendar to icalx (via iCal) and he will be able to subscribe to it in iCal no problem.
However, it is going to be more work for you b/c you can't set iCal to subscribe to a calendar and have that same subscribed calendar sync w/ Entourage. Out of the box this option isn't available.
So, as far as free options go, you could:
    1) Use iCal for calendaring.
    2) Manually drag in the .ics file into Entourage each time.
    3) Create an applescript to assist with this (one idea would be create a "husband" category in Entourage, and use an applescript to import the .ics, assigning it the "husband" category. Each time you import a new .ics file the applescript deletes the old items in the "husband" category).
If you are willing to invest some time in it, applescript is worthwhile to learn and you will find excellent help in the applescript forums.

  • After moving from Entourage to Mail - a few questions.

I have just switched over from using Entourage 2008 to Mail, and so far I am happy (especially because of the better stability), but had a few questions about using Mail.app:
    - In the list of mail items, how do I (can I?) select the last email in the list? In Entourage, I could press End and it would do that - now End just moves the list down but does not change the selection.
    - I use IMAP, and I would like an option to just check the Inbox for new mail, not several seemingly arbitrary sub-folders, which is what happens when I choose Get New Mail for that mailbox.
    - Mail.app is not honoring my Manually setting for Check Mail for my IMAP folders - it checks for new messages regardless. How can this be stopped?
    - I don't like the relative dates ("Yesterday," "Today" etc) in the message lists - how can these be turned off?
    Thanks for any pointers here.

One other question - is there an (elegant) way to set up a send-only email account? I have a forwarding account which I would like to be able to "send from," but I can't/don't receive at.

  • Moving from Entourage to Mail - basic questions

Once my shiny new iMac arrives, I intend to stop using Entourage (v.X) for email and switch to Mail.
I've never used Mail before, so I've got a few basic questions - I hope someone can help!
    1. Is there a limit on how many emails / attachments Mail can hold? Entourage is infamous for unrecoverably crashing if you let its Database get bigger than 2Gb (4Gb with a patch).
    2. How easy is it to archive Mail emails? And how easy is it to then access them for reference, if required?
    3. Can I easily transfer my Entourage address book to Mail?
    Hope someone can help!

    Robin,
Mail creates a separate account folder for each email account you have. It also has a another folder to hold mailboxes/folders that you use to organize and archive messages away from Inboxes, Sent, etc.
With each separate mailbox (Inbox, Sent or custom folder) there is no limit on number of messages, but with Mail 2.x (the one in Tiger) the size of each mailbox, including message attachments, must be kept below 2 GB. The only limit on the overall Mail folder, including On My Mac mailboxes, is the space on your hard drive, or boot partition, where your Home folder resides.
It is not convenient (nor necessary) to archive outside of the Mail folder where all mailboxes/folder reside, although backups can be made for disk failure, etc.
Open the Address Book application, and you will find under File, the command to Import. For what you can Import, check AB Help, searching on import and Entourage, and you will find Entourage listed as a source -- see also:

  • Questions from an Entourage user on iCal - tasks, printing events, reminder

I'm shifting from Entourage to iCal (connecting to an Exchange 2007 server at work). I've got a few problems that I'm hoping someone can help me with:
    1) how do I print a single event? In Entourage, I select the event, and right-clicking (or using the menu options) enables me to print it. Now I can only figure out how to print a whole day or month. Surely I can print the contents of 1 event?
    2) linked to the above: I store a lot of info in each event (text describing what will be happening etc.). Is it possible to view and edit this info in a window of reasonable size? In Entourage, double-clicking each event gives me a scale-able window in which I can see and edit the text; in iCal, it gives me a tiny window with each line wrapped like crazy.
    3) My Entourage is (correctly) telling me that about a dozen appointments are due or past-due. iCal is not giving me any such reminders, although new ones I create do go off with an alarm like they're supposed to. What's going on - why isn't the little "iCal alarm" window popping up for all the ones I'm late on?
    4) task view: I have a bunch of tasks on the Exchange server. What's the right way to get a list of them and edit their content in iCal?
    thank you!
    Mike

Re: Categories - I too miss that and I've 'solved' it two different ways. First, I set up groups which helps me find someone who I know within a certain context. ie, I know I'm looking for John who is a student. I look in the student group for all the Johns. Second, I use the note entry to jot down things I want to remember about the person.
