Entourage wont send emails but recieves
Hello i am transferring my email settings over from my windows machine to my new macbook running entourage.
I have entered all settings and teh verification is complete yet, when i recieve an email it works on the macbook but when i try to send i get an error which is:
5.7.0 must issue a STARTTLS command first.
Mail could not be sent
Accoutn name
Error - 17099
Any one any ideas how to solve this please? thanks

My IPAD is receiving my emails OK, but when it tries to send them it says server not avaiable and puts them into the out box.
My iphone is working fine (sending and recieving) from my email account and IOS settings all seem to be the same.
My email system is also working fine via MS Outlook
Any suggesations as to why IPAD is having problemsOn the iPad that's having the issues, try to go into the settings, mail, contacts and calendars. Delete the mail account you are trying to send from. Exit out, go back in and re-add the account and see if that fixes the issue

I am using OS X 10.7.5 I ahve BT Infinity and use there email along with ME
Although I can receive emails I cant send any. I am asked for a password but it makes no difference. smtp list states all (bt & me) off line. Contacted bt who are no help!
I have checked that I can send on BT/yahoo direct.
Tried deleting and re-adding account.
Please help otherwise I will have to go back to BT and pay to fix there problem!Hi there,

Email account can send email but cannot recieve
My new contractor email account can send email but cannot receive. GIT had identified the problem "Mail record not created in LDAP" but it has been more than a week and still no fix.
Can anyone help?

Contractors by default are not provided email access. Your manager needs to request for a mail record from APS. If your manager had already requested for a mail record, then you need to raise a service request with helpdesk.

My mac wont send emails from yahoo or any other websites when using an external USB modem! I have checked the settings and they seem correct. Can anyone help? I do not have snow leopard. I can log on my email accounts, open my incoming emails (with difficulty coz it asks me to "try again" ) but I can never send emails, I always get: "sending is taking a little long, try again".
What is the problem? this is a hair puller !!!Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.

Can send email but cannot receive on exchange account
My .mac account, gmail account, and yahoo account work flawlessly on my iphone. My work account, however, does not. My employer has his iphone working fine and my settings are the same but for some reason I can't receive email. I have no problem sending email from the account with the iphone, only receiving. Anyone have any ideas?
I have tried setting it up via the "exchange" option (entering mail servers, login, and password) and get the following:
1. Cannot connect using SSL (I proceed without it)
2. Cannot get mail. The user name or password is incorrect. IMAP support must be enabled. (which it is because my employer connects without issue).
3. I save the account despite the warnings and can send email but not receive.I am having the same problem with both my work and Yahoo accounts. At least to the work account I am positive that the settings are the same as a co-worker using an iTouch to access his email. I have re-entered the settings a minimum of 10 times and the IT department has tried no less than 5 times. The error message remains the same. I could understand incorrectly entering the settings once or twice, but not separate people entering it 15 times. There is something else wrong with the iPhone software.

I have been having trouble getting my email on my iPad2.
It started when I brought it to the US on vacation (I live in London and my email provider is Virgin Media). It worked once since I returned, but that is it.
I can send emails, but can't get them.

Just posted this reply to 2 others with same sort of question:
I have the same issue as i have my own email address and only want to use.
There are two ways around this annoying problem. The first is to set up your own domain email account alongside your iCloud one, and when you go to send each email tap on From and you get a choice of emails addresses to reply from... ie your own domain or the iCloud one. This is tedious though.
The other is to set up your iCloud email as normal, then create a new one altogether. Choose 'Other' when creating this new account. Then put for the incoming server mail.me.com, along with your user name and password. For the outgoing server put the server you want to use - ie your own domain one. This is therefore a hybrid account and does work.
Now switch off the email for iCloud (leaving on Calendar, Address Book etc). Switch on the email for your hybrid account (which of course is iCloud incoming as well).
Providing you have directed your own domain email address to your me.com one, you will find the iPhone should behave itself and you can use the folders etc and these will synch with your Mac ok.

We need more info - what email service is this issue about. Do you use several (gmail, yahoo, icloud,...) and is this issue the same for all? If you also use a computer or other device, is this issue common to them all? -

I understand your iPad Air has an email account set up that is able to send email but it is not receiving incoming mail. Depending on the type of account you have, the incoming server may either be a POP or IMAP server and this is more than likely where the issue is. You did find a good article for troubleshooting Mail on the iPad.

If you have gone through all of these steps including deleting and re-adding the account as you say, I would verify the POP or IMAP settings with your provider and make sure they are correct. The following webpage is also a fantastic source for server information.
