Entry in "Proxy Server" field in app. attributes

Hi,
I automatically assumed the above mentioned entry needs to be in the format:
host:port
I tried it and the emails my app sends do not make it to the recipient.
(The e-mail configuration settings are set properly.)
Am I missing anything?
-Dan

Dan - This setting is used when utl_http requires it for the specialized "URL" region types and for web service requests. Your mail issues are probably unrelated.

  • How do I create a configuration profile that has wireless settings including a manual proxy server.

I can configure the wireless network using the IPCU but cannot set the proxy server settings.
I'm sure that this is simple but just can't work it out!

IPCU does not currently allow entry of proxy server settings.  This must be done, from the device, for each wi-fi network.  It would be great if it did.....

  • App store, Safari, software updates, icloud, do not work in Mavericks 10.9 using a proxy server

App store, Safari, software updates, icloud, do not work in Mavericks 10.9. these problems are interrelated I am sure. Apple apps were working fine in 10.8.5 I could do software updates through a proxy server using password authentication. I reinstalled a new system 10.9 on another partition and it won't let me use Safari or update software using a proxy server. Firefox works fine (I am using it to post). I am very disappointed that this wasn not fully tested BEFORE releasing Mavericks. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

    I had this problem myself.
Checked the system log with Console, and I found the entry:-
Nov 11 11:16:41 teds-new-mac.ad.mycompany.co.uk ocspd[537]: Authentication challenge received for "10.203.39.212:8080", unable to obtain proxy server credential from System keychain.
For some unknown reason, Mavericks seems to be looking in the System keychain, when these credentials are actually held in the Login keychain.
So, I tried "Copy & Paste"  - copying the https user name & password from the Login keychain and pasting into the System keychain, which worked but it's not quite as straightforward as I initially thought.
Pasting into the System Keychain was, I found a not-very-intuitive process:
Having opened your Login Keychain, click once on the item to be copied and when it's highlighted, select "Copy" from the Edit menu or, of course, cmd+c.
Select the System Keychain:- DO NOT CLICK THE PADLOCK IN THE TOP LEFT TO UNLOCK IT.
From the Edit menu, select "Paste" or cmd+v.
You will then get a dialogue box,, enter your administrator's password and select "Modify Keychain" or just hit return, as it's the default entry.
I found a restart was in order before it recognised everything and would accept https pages without alert boxes, but YMMV.
Funnily enough - and this is where it seems counter-intuitive, if you do click on the padlock and unlock the System Keychain, "Paste" is greyed out in the Edit menu and cmd+v has no effect.
Exactly the opposite to what I'd expect..

  • Since upgrading to ios7, apps just say waiting and then get the app cannot be downloaded at this time message. We run a proxy server, devices running ios6 have no problems. Anyone know what the problem is? I think apple just needs to fix its new OS.

I work at a school running 10 iPads. We connect to the internet through a proxy server. Prior to iOS7 we had no issues, the devices still on iOS6 work perfectly.
All devices which have been upgraded to iOS7 cannot download apps. I can find the apps in the store, choose to download them, but the icon hangs for a while before returning the "app cannot be downloaded at this time message". Help.

I have this same exact issue. We have even put all apple servers as not even being filtered by proxy and it still wont download anything. Nor will it let us even log in or create a new acct in the app store. It seems its also not just app store related....as it won't even let you check for IOS updates when a proxy is entered.
If anyone has any ideas let us know!

  • Set Up Proxy Server on OSX Mountain Lion Server.app

    Hi,
Can anyone help me on how to set up a proxy server or forward proxy on OS X Mountain Lion Server.app? without using Squid
a step by step instruction would be helpfull
    Thank you

There is no way to set up a proxy server in Server.app. For generic instructions, see, for example, this:

They are probably blocking the port the apps are trying to utilize.

  • Is it the proxy server or is it the app?

I downloaded the Creative Cloud desktop app last week. During the download I was asked for my proxy server ID and password. I entered them and clicked the "Remember me" box. The app installed and started up, and asked for the same information. I entered it and clicked "sign in". The DL center came up and  I managed to download a couple of apps, although the "enter your proxy server ID" screen on the CC app popped up (on average)  every thirty seconds or so -- fortunately, I could just hit return to start the DL back up.
Yesterday and today, though -- not even that. Rather than starting the download center, it just refreshed the sign-in page. I have re-entered my proxy info, in case I mis-typed my password; I have tried both WITH and WITHOUT a domain prefix (as in XX\Username}, all to no avail.
I even uninstalled the CC app and re-installed it (albeit from the same disk image) but the problem persists.
The fact that I can DL the CC app, and DID manage to DL the other apps last week certanly implies to me that Adobe isn't being blocked by the work firewalls. If I'm off-base, here, then I'm not sure how to reconcile the two conflicting results.
If my proxy serttings let me download the CC app (and other software off the web), shouldn't those same settings work WITH the app? What am I missing, here?

    Hi, Jeff --
There are a couple of reasons why I haven't pestered them, yet:
1 -- I'm just trying to figure out why downloding worked last week but not this week. Because the obvious answer from MIS is "We haven't changed anything since it was working before, so the problem isn't on our end. If the downloader isn't working, you should check with the manufacturer, first." I'm trying to forestall that by making sure that I have tried everything possible from my end before passing it on to them
2 -- Everything on the linked page seems to be aimed at larger set-ups where the IT group is the central repository for administering software across the enterprise. In this case hey're not deploying the software. I'm the admin and (at the moment) sole user, so that doesn't seem to apply. I'm just using the servers as "dumb pipes", so I'm not sure I see anything linked there that would help. Of course, it's possible that I missed something amd -- once I've convinced myself that I've covered every possibility that I could -- I'll pass that link on to them.
Partly, I was just wondering if anyone else had run into that "now you can/now you can't" issue with downloading, since it wasn't in the FAQs.
    Thanks;
    Mike Moyle

  • Issue with binary attribute types through Directory Proxy Server 6.3.1

I'm having problems with DPS 6.3.1.1 on Solaris 10 with binary attribute types. From most LDAP servers, requesting an attribute such as userCertificate would return userCertificate;binary without any issues. However, DPS seems to consider these two separate attributes. In order to see userCertificate;binary, I have to ask for it in that exact format. This obviously is causing trouble for many clients as they shouldn't care about the binary type as it's the same attribute.
I've tried to correct this with a virtual data transformation (dpconf add-virtual-transformation 'PKI Tree' read add-attr-value userCertificate \${userCertificate\;binary}) but the end results are the same. Any ideas on how I can correct this one?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Mac Proxy Server Software - can not find any app to run a Mac proxy server

Hi! Looking for an application that will run and manage a proxy server on my Mac. I am after something that does not involve programming, editing and using the console, something that is done through a simple, user friendly interface. I would need to run a proxy server for web access so that the client using the proxy could be seen as using the authenticated IP of the server machine. (To put it simple, I need to be able to log on to a site where authentication is done via IP as well as login / pass. My home machine is set up for access but I would like to be able to log in on the move with my laptop or from other machines. Unfortunately I can not get a static IP for my laptop and would like to run a proxy server on my home machine so I can log in remotely via the proxy server) I am after a software solution that will install and manage the proxy and gives me full control over setting access limitaions etc (i.e something safe, easy and reliable). I have ben searching for days but have not found anything for the Mac although there appears to be an abundance of such software for Windows . . . Any help would be immensly appreciated! I have a spare older Mac I could set up for this purpose and keep online all the time . . .

Would this do what you need?

  • Firefox keeps requesting logon credentials for the proxy server, though they are eneterd in the connection settings.

Every time you go to a new page, Firefox prompts for the proxy server login credentials, this has already been entered in the Network settings in Firefox.

    Hi thefrostycat,
It could also be the proxy set up on the network. There is an app for proxy settings: [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lechucksoftware.proxy.proxysettings on the play store] as well as an add on [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/proxy-selector/?src=search Proxy Selector]
Android troubleshooting for GSM device(I do not know if your nexus is, most likely it is not): Access Point Name (APN). Go to Settings > Wireless and Networks > More > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > [Your data APN] (your device's menu may differ slightly). Check the Proxy field.

  • LMS 4.2 Device Update without a proxy server

I'm running LMS 4.2.2, and when I try to initiate a device package update via the webinterface, it fails because I do not have a proxy server configured.  Is there a way to tell LMS that I don't want it to use a proxy?  I have my cisco.com creds in place, and the proxy fields left blank, but it tries anyway, and I can't find anywhere to tell it to ignore the proxy.

I solved this myself, it seems I had my DNS entries on the Soft Appliance entered incorrectly, so it threw a "cannot find proxy" rather than "cannot resolve hostname" error.

  • Proxy Server 3.6 StdIn Error

I have seen a similiar post previously, but not a response.
Several errors with the Sun/1 Proxy Server 3.6 sp 1 proxy on Solaris 8 with reverse-proxy URL's configured:
    1. Attempting to turn on access control from the Restrict Access page on Server properties results in the message "System Error: Cannot read POST variables from stdin"
    2. Attempting to access a web server via the reverse proxy results in a web response "You are not authorized to view this page" HTTP 403 error in the browser. The proxy error log includes an entry reading "security: for host xxx trying to GET /: deny-service reports: denying service of /"
    3. Connection attempts to the internal web server are not attempted from the proxy server, indicating the authentication error is local with the proxy server configuration itself.
    3. If the Admin Server is configured to use an LDAP database the virtual server will not start - the server process continues to clock, forks aproximately 10-12 processes with the server start script, each of which must be manually killed (the stop script has no effect).
The proxy server software has been removed/reloaded to eliminate the potential of corruption in the installation directory to no avail.
    Thoughts/Assistance?

Excuse the delay in replying (too much tryptophan ;)
Thanks for the feedback on the post errors - without understanding the specific requirements of the browser (other than Netscape as the required interface) the problem was resolved by using an alternative client. Strange that Netscape 7 (causing the POST error) did initially function properly.
The ldap bind, authentication, etc. against the desired ldap database were verified through command line ldap calls from the host os (Solaris). In production, the challenge was the desired attribute for authentication is not UID but CN. Unfortunately the Proxy server does not provide an interface to modify the ldap query and the UID is hardcoded. Compounding the issue is the fact that the authentication libraries used by the Proxy server are internal to the software, and cannot be redirected to other libraries (such as PAM).
Options such as custom development, etc. were explored but eliminated due to cost and potential complexity. Other Proxy alternatives are being explored based on the authentication issue....
    Hope this helps

  • Proxy Server Setting

    Hello folks,
I have OC4J app on a solaris 10 server that is on a private ip - networking team provided the proxy server and port.
Where do I put this information?
I've found one post that says to add to server.xml file
    http://blogs.oracle.com/kamble/entry/proxy_setting_for_application_server
    Any idea?
    Thanks,

I believe otn.oracle.com is reachable directly within oracle firewall. As a result it should not go through the proxy server. try some other external web site. Otherwise set the noproxy string for the crawler to avoid going through the proxy.
In any event the crawler should not output Internal error for this operation. Do you have the version information?
    Thanks,
    Steve
