  • How to schedule jobs for brtools/oracle on EP

    How to schedule jobs for brtools/oracle (Update statistics
    Chech db
    Db verify
    ) on an EP system where as  no tool for java to do that (like db13). How to invoke it with cron?

    In Brtools you can always see the "Command line" before executing an action, You can simply copy that and use it to run BRTOOLS command from prompt, You can make a script with it and schedule via Cron.

  • OT- entry level job salary data?

    I work with a school and we want to train students in web design.
    1.  Is anyone aware of some sort of industry data out there that describes salaries that can be expected for entry level, and for advanced web design positions?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    First, make certain that your students do not wish to study something simpler, like 'string theory' or 'dark matter', then if anyone is still left in the class, give them the bad news.
    You can be the the best there is at web design/development, and earn virtually nothing, conversely you can be absolute rubbish and be paid the same as an investment banker. However the majority of people in the profession work on some sort of self employed or freelance basis, so the actual hourly pay is not what counts but how many clients/contracts they have.
    If you earn £1000 for something that takes you 10hrs then the hourly pay = £100, but what happens if you only have that one client in a year?
    So just learning web design/development, (and don't tell them that they do not need to learn both, they do) is only half of the entire picture, if they are good at selling their skills then they may earn a reasonable living, if not ...!

    entry level flash developer jobs ?

    I have a few questions, I have no scipting experience yet as I'm going into highschool this year. First of all is there always/usual/sometimes game developing classes at public highschools? I've never heard of any. Worse, colleges don't seem to offer much either. If you are sure you want to program games for a living, I'd say forget a traditional college and CS degree and go here: www.fullsail.com
    Secondly how many years of college classes does it take to get a regular degree (forgot name) and a masters degree. All depends on you! 3-8 years I suppose.
    Thirdly what colleges do you reccomend for MMORPG designing/scipting. I've never heard of an MMORGP class/program at a school. MMORPG is a very specific niche. It's like asking to take a class called "Building a Space Shuttle 101". It's very complex. It takes millions of dollars and dozens of people to make an MMORPG and even if you succeed in building one, you have something like a 10% chance of it being successful and making you money.
    Fourthly excluding college what would I need to buy to start up a game, is there exspensive programs? What do you mean? Software? Well you can program games for free using Java if you want. Or you can license an engine. There are lots of options.
    Fithly is it harder to make it browser based?Nope. But forget about the browser. Just make a game and use Java Web Start if you want to make it available via browser.
    Lastly could you give me a example of scripting like if you want to make a small brown and green tree what would you write?This is way too general. But you can check out lots of Java 2D/3D graphics turorials online. I say just focus on learning Java, then math, physics, etc., then Java2D, then Java3D, then JOAL or some sound API, learn how to get user input from keyboard/mouse, network programming, database programming, etc. Take it step by step.

  • Creating a Job for publication in Sql Server with select statement for passing a parameter

    I am creating a job for adding article to a publication.  the second step (e.g. for adding article) gives me error. I pass the name of the table as follow:
         EXEC sp_addarticle
               @publication = 'TTB', --THE NAME OF MY PUBLICATION
               'select top (1)' @article = 'Name from TableAdded Order by create_date Desc',
               'select top (1)' @source_object = 'Name from TableAdded Order by create_date Desc',
                @force_invalidate_snapshot = 1;
    TableAdded is a table I have in my publisher which contains the name of the newly added table.
    I believe it fails because the way I pass the name of the article to the store procedure is not correct. Can anyone please help me on that?
    Kind regards
    Amin

    Yes, the way you add article is wrong.
    you may try the below and let us know if you have any issues:
    while loop begin (Get the values from TableAdded with status IsAdded=0)
              Assign the values to variables like @article = Select top 1 Name from TableAdded where IsAdded=0
              Call the sp_addarticle assigning the variable
              update the Isadded flag in tableAdded for the name to 1
     end while
    BTB, Article configuration is supposed to be a one time configuration. Having said, you can easily configure through API. Caution, not sure what are you trying here, for adding new article, you may need to synch the data first in the above approach and should
    carried out in the downtime.

  • Workaround for using Oracle JDBC extension with WLS pooling

    Reading the newsgroup I saw that many of us encountered the problems
    with ClassCastException when tried to use Oracle JDBC extension
    with WLS pooling. I also had.
    In this case BEA recommends to use dangerous
    method getVendorConnection() which exposes
    the physical connection object to your code.
    Yes it's really dangerous because of unsafe usage may breaks
    WLS pooled connection(s).
    Moreover, this practice will make your JDBC code
    unportable (your JDBC code in addition to Oracle dependence
    became Weblogic dependent):
    void doSmth() {
    Connection con = ...;
    Connection vCon = ((WLConnection)con).getVendorConnection();
    // + mess of usage con in one places and vCon in others
    // (where Oracle extensions are needed)
    // !Don't forget to don't close vCon!
    Sux.
    I found the workaround.
    Introduction
    ============
    Yes the real cause of ClassCastException is that
    in depth of Oracle driver the casting
    to class oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnection
    (not to interface oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection)
    is performed.
    Someone can say that this is bug or pure desing.
    Weblogic pooled connection provide dynamic
    implementation for all public interfaces
    which real physical (wrapped) connection object implements.
    Great feature!
    But I guess that all interface methods implemented
    by simple call-delegation to physical (wrapped) connection object.
    In case of oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection interface
    this approach doesn't work for at least one its method:
    public OracleConnection unwrap()
    WLS pooled connection shoudn't implement this method by
    delegation to physical connection object BUT should
    return physical connection object itself!
    // Wrong implementation of unwrap()
    // delegation is used
    public OracleConnection unwrap() {
    return physicalConnection.unwrap();
    // Right implementation of unwrap()
    // physical connection returned
    public OracleConnection unwrap() {
    return physicalConnection;
    Workaround
    ==========
    1. Develop your own OracleConnection wrapper class:
    import oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection;
    import weblogic.jdbc.extensions.WLConnection;
    public class MyOracleConnectionImpl implements OracleConnection {
    private OracleConnection con;
    public MyOracleConnectionImpl(OracleConnection connection)
    throws SQLException
    this.con = connection;
    public OracleConnection unwrap() {
    return (OracleConnection)
    ((WLConnection)con).getVendorConnection();
    /* Implement all other methods by delegation to con object */
    2. Don't get Connections directly from DataSource --
    develop your own simple (may be static) utility
    class which retrives Connections from dataSource
    and returns them wrapped into your MyOracleConnectionImpl
    to your code from some method:
    puclic abstract class MyConnectionSource {
    public static Connection getConnection() {
    Connection con = // get it from DataSource
    return new MyOracleConnectionImpl((OracleConnection)con);
    3. Add attribute RemoveInfectedConnectionsEnabled="false"
    to definition of your JDBCConnectionPool within config.xml
    You may do it because of you `safely` use vendorConnection --
    you don't expose it to application code.
    4. Enjoy the Oracle JDBC extensions in your code!
    Example:
    Connection con = MyConnectionSource.getConnection;
    ArrayDescriptor add =
    ArrayDescriptor.createDescriptor("your_type", con);
    Hope it helps to someone.

    Eugene Voytitsky

    Hello Eugene Voytitsky,
    Thanks Eugene Voytitsky for your idea
    I have tried the solution suggested by You, but it did not work.

  • Entry Level Laptop for CS6

    Hello, im new to the forum and have been looking through a lot of posts about machine specs over the past couple of days. Hoping someone can help!
    I'm looking to buy a budget machine (approx £1500 max) to run CS6. We will be using Illustrator and Photoshop for fairly basic tasks (producing brochures, editing photos etc. ) It will all be static design work ( no video).
    Most of the posts ive come across are discussing "video" , i am trying to find out if we can get away with a lower spec machine for our basic requirment. We're looking at this 4gb RAM lenovo W530 as its just about the right price level.
    http://www.dabs.com/products/lenovo-thinkpad-w530-intel-core-i7-3630qm -4gb-500gb-15-6--windows-7-pro-64bit-preload---windows-8-8PBT.html?ref s=431420000-54600000-4294941858-50600&src=3
    Will this do the job? We'll not be using CS6 on a full time basis, ad hoc as and when we need to produce an advert, presentation or som other from of promotional material.
    Any help would be much appreciated!

    I actually did a helpful video that may answer your questions and those of other users.
    http://youtu.be/BypkjzYFfRg
    Primarily you need to focus on the following:
    Dual to Quad Core Processors at 2.0GHz or hgher
    Dedicated Video 1GB or Better
    4GB of Ram minimum 8GB ideally anything beyond 32GB is overkill unless you go 8Core
    Multiple Hard Drives, 2 are good so one is used as Scratch Disk, 4 is better 6 with 2 SSD Raid0 as Scatch Disk is Best.
    If you want laptop info check out these two articles on my blog:

  • What are best free tools for a Oracle development DBA?

    Hi, I have been production dba for years. I am familiar with full cycle of database installation, configure,backup recovery, etc.
    Now my role is going to change to development dba soon. I have no problem to create instances. Then to the data modeling, data normalization, etc, what kind of tools I can use?
    Any good suggestions or documents you can provide?
    Thanks in advance.

  • ... entry level hardware for using iWeb?

    Yep. I realize what the spec sheets are saying on hardware but, I'm interested in real world experiences. What is the lowest level Mac running iWeb? Thanks.
    G3 600   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    I think it will depend on the size of your site : I have a 1GHz G4 iMac with 768 MB RAM; my domain file (in application support/iWeb) is over 1 GB and the published site about 200 MB : it takes more than one hour to publish to a folder and more than 2 hours to publish to my .mac, which is incredibely slow...

  • Please can any one suggest how to get entry level job in sap sd...

    What is your DB version?
    I too could not get this to work in 8i. I had to use “hardcoded” date:

  • How to Create Manual Standby for a Oracle 11g RAC with ASM to Single Instan

    Hi All,
    I have a task to configure a Single Instance Standby Database with ASM for 2-node Primary RAC+ASM database.
    Version using : 11.1.0.6 Oracle 11g --- *" STANDARD EDITION "* Please note datagaurd will not be supported in standard edition.
    Primary database - 2 -Node RAC using ASM storage (All datafiles, redologs, controfile and archive logs)
    Need to setup a single instance standby database manually and than using scripts to transfer the archive logs from primary server to standby server to do recovery time to time.
    Please let me know if there are any configuration document(s) which can help me to set the manual standby? or need your kind help to give your valuable ideas how to go in above situation.
    Thanks in advance

    Well if the archive logs are stored in ASM on the primary nodes, you almost definitely want to be using RMAN to access them. Then to transfer between primary and standby there are many options, this is essentially the step that Data Guard takes care of - so if you (and I) are running Standard Edition, this is the part to "worry" about.
    I'm not really sure what you mean by this:
    As in standard edition the archive destination will be on ASMI don't think the Edition of Oracle (Standard or Enterprise) dictates where and how you store your archive logs, but it's possible I've misunderstood what you mean...SE dictates that database storage for RAC will be ASM, including archive log files. Anything else is not officially supported. I haven't tested but it may be that you can use LOG_ARCHIVE_DUPLEX_DEST to specify a local filesystem for archive log files as well.
    If that doesn't work you'll have to script rman "backup as copy" jobs regularly and then transport the results of that.

    By the way, it seems Robert has been pretty helpful, it's polite to give him some points dude. And since this is your thread, not mine, give him a "helpful" from me too :p
    El DBA
    Incidentally if you are forced down the RMAN backup as copy route then this will likely throw your current backup retention strategy somewhat, you'll need to think carefully about when an archivelog can be deleted following backup, how many times it might be backed up and so on. I do understand, and have argued for, the use of SE RAC. I also understand and have argued for and implemented manually managed standby a number of times. However by the time your primary database is a RAC instance and you need a standby for DR etc then you really have to look very seriously at whether Standard Edition is still the right investment or not. You will be spending a lot of DBA time managing and troubleshooting this, and you will find that it is less reliable than the off the shelf solution. I suspect that you are very close to the point where an EE installation becomes a worthwhile investment here.

  • Build gui for existing oracle database tables with webdynpro java?

    hi
    i want to build a GUI to maintain existing oracle tables
    so far we used oracleFORMS to do so
    is there a good approach for webdynpro java? or do you recommend other sap tools?
    can we generate the gui with a wizard based on the fields in the table?
    do we have to generate sql statements or type in manually?
    regards
    joerg

    Hi Joerg,
    generally that is possible, but you'll have to implement the data access by yourself, by means of EJB or another Java persistance framework such as JDO, SQLMaps, Hibernate, whatever...
    Web Dynpro allows to build a GUI based upon a model - in this case this could be some POJOs (DTOs) representing your database tables, which are communicated to the GUI by your data access layer. Consider a model as a simple Java bean representing database data.
    This approach would require to build a data access layer which incorporates manually generated sql statements, so you'll have to have expert database and java knowledge.
    There might be other approaches, this is just to demonstrate one working possibility.
    regards,
    Christian

  • Developing for a Oracle Application Server with SSO

    Hello there,
    I'm developing an application (Java) that will be deployed as a partner application within an Oracle Application Server 10g at my client. This Oracle instance has a SSO already configured, and my app will use this Identity Manager (consuming the cookie). The problem is that at my company we don't have a SSO system configured, not even an Oracle Application Server, just a simple Oracle XE 10g to hold data. So I'm wondering how can I do to develop my application and test it.
    I was looking forward to install an OAS and configure an SSO to validate my implementation, but the download link provided by Oracle is broken (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/index.html). Another alternative that I thought of was to install an OC4J and configure a Java SSO to simulate the behavior of OSSO, and make my app the cookie set by it. But OC4J supports only til Servlet 2.4 and my app is using 2.5...
    And to complete, I cannot access my client's environment. I'm supposed to write a Deploying document telling him how to deploy my app and then try to access it through Internet.
    Does anyone have an idea of how can I develop and test my app in my company's environment?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bruno Krebs.

    Apache 2.0 based OHS is located in Oracle Application Server Companion CD.

You should be able to find some job agencies to see what they say .... and ignore the most optimistic .... You may get lucky but in my opinion be prepared to be disappointed.

  • SAP BW Entry level

    Hello All,
    I am an IT professional with SAP BW (Academy) training. I have been looking for BW entry level jobs for 1 year.. I am just wondering if anyone know of any companies who take entry level candidates in australia.??
    Thanks you.
    Peter

    Hi BW Fresher,
    Just some encouragement... You will do fine if you keep looking and networking. There are companies out there that will bring on a junior level person to work hand in hand with a senior person. You may not want to find a consulting job, but there are other companies will be willing to do. You would have to start somewhere, and everyone else here did too.
    If nothing else, come to America and find jobs here...
    Best of Luck!
