Enumeration on BPM

Hi , I am starting to work with BPM Suite and got this problem : modeling human Task ,seldom I have encountered some costants data type , for example I have created a BO based on XSD into witch I have defined an Enumeration.
Now ,when I working with UI self created page I need some of these contants and enumerations , for example to expose as combo list of values.
There is a way to declare these costants/enums in just one place as if some value or description need to be changed , this work doesn't create dependency problem ?
thanks.

Hi,
There are so many steps invovled in BPM.
First, try with simple scenarios like File-RFC-File (async-sync-async) involving less number of steps.https:///people/arpit.seth/blog/2005/06/27/rfc-scenario-using-bpm--starter-kit
Examples for BPM scenarios are given in this help link
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3c/831620a4f1044dba38b370f77835cc/frameset.htm
and there are so many blogs about the use of BPM steps in SDN.
These practices will give u proficiency in BPM.
Good luck.

Uma

  • Oracle BPM Studio 10g R3 cataloging Web Services strips special characters

    Hi folks,
    I have a Web Service that I'd like to invoke from an activity in my process.
    When I catalog the WSDL, BPM Studio creates the associated External Resource just fine except for one small problem, namely all Simple Types that have 'special characters' in their enumerated String values are stripped clean.
    Example 1:
    ADSL1
    ADSL2
    ADSL2+
    --> The plus is stripped from ADSL2+, causing BPM Studio to flag two problems caused by duplicate 'ADSL' values
    Example 2:
    adsl1#foo/123
    --> Everything to the left of 123 is stripped leaving only '123' as a value
    In fact in the BPM Studio's Editor, the only special character that is allowed is the underscore. Everything else e.g. \ # etc etc cannot be keyed in.
    Has anyone come across this before? Thanks for reading :-)
    cheers

  • Mapping enumeration (multiple values) to a 1..n field

    Hi Experts,
    I try to pass an enumeration (with three values) to a field of type string (1..unbounded). Therefor I have created an XSD file with this three values:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns="http://XXXX.net/Reservation/Sharepoint"
      xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="http://XXXX.net/Reservation/Sharepoint">
      <xsd:complexType name="SubscribeEventTypes">
      <xsd:sequence>
      <xsd:element name="EventTypes">
      <xsd:complexType>
      <xsd:sequence>
      <xsd:element maxOccurs="unbounded" name="EventType">
      <xsd:simpleType>
      <xsd:restriction base="xsd:string">
      <xsd:enumeration value="CreatedEvent" />
      <xsd:enumeration value="ModifiedEvent" />
      <xsd:enumeration value="DeletedEvent" />
      </xsd:restriction>
      </xsd:simpleType>
      </xsd:element>
      </xsd:sequence>
      </xsd:complexType>
      </xsd:element>
      </xsd:sequence>
      </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:schema>
    The XSD based on the Microsoft Web Service Interface for Exchange Server (OLX).
    Another try of myself was the string-joing extraction (but did not worked for me):
    string-join("CreatedEvent,ModifiedEvent,DeletedEvent",",")
    Without this values, I can't start the accordant operation.
    Many Thanks for help.
    Cheers,
    Cengiz

    No, it's not a part of response what I'm talking about. I try to pass three values to an enumeration field which belongs to the request object. Microsoft has a Web Service interface to access the content of the MS Exchange (OLX) server. If you want to start this operation, you need to pass these values to the request object's parameter named "EventTypes":
    "CreatedEvent", "ModifiedEvent" and "DeletedEvent"
    I have tried to do this with the BPM exclusion "single-join". Here you can define these three values and a separater (e. g. a comma), but has not worked for me.
    Cheers,
    Cengiz

  • Business Rules Error when Decision Function surfaced as WebService in BPM

    To use a BusinessRule as from a Business Rules activity,it needs to be surfaced as a WebService.
    I've run into an issue where as soon as I check that box and save, the BusinessRule in question goes into a error mode when viewed from the BPM Project Manager (which is why this question is posted here).
    The scenario is this:
    My types are defiend in XSD. There is a SimpleType - FooStepTypeType - which is a retricted xs:string, the common way top create an enumeration. I import this as an XML fact, it creates a Enum bucketset, which is perfect. I create a decision function - DecisionFunction1 - which has an input parameter of this type and a boolean output. I set up a simple decision table to use the input and assert the output. The editor is happy.
    At this point, I can't use the DF in my process, as it's not exposed a service, and won't be selectable via the the Properties/Implementation of a Business Rules activity.
    A soon as I mark the DF as a WebService and save it, an the rule disappears from the Rules section of the Business Catalog and reappears at the root of the catalog in error. In some cases it can't be edited.
    Hovering over the error file produced this error message:
    The argument ‘step’ of decision function ‘DecisionFunction1’ could not build because of ‘BPM-71517: Unable to identify the parameter QName. Cause: ‘FooStepTypeType. Action: Make sure that the decision function parameter is of XML type and exactly one XML Schema Element exists that represents the parameter’.
    My XSD previously did not contain a freestanding element of this type, but had elements defined in another complex type of this type. Adding a freestanding element didn't change anything. In fact it seems that elements are not avaialble to be imported as XMLFacts, only types.
    At this point, if the Rules editor is still open, the DF can be "unserviced" and after saving may be recoverable with a JDev restart. If not, manually removing the DF from the .rules xml file can help recover the file so that it can be edited again.
    SO: THE QUESTIONS.
    Why can't I use a simpleType as an input parameter for a DF exposed as a WebService? What is BPM-71517 asking me to do exactly? I can't find any references to it via searching. Why does eveything seem fine until I expose it?
    Addendum - using JDev 11.1.1.4.0 with BPM tools 11.1.1.4.0.5682
    Addendum2 - upgraded to 11.1.1.5.0 and the problem is still there.....
    TIA,
    Bill

    Further invesitgation bears this problem out.
    Oracle support recommend wrapping the SimpleType in a ComplexType. This does work, but now I have an extra wrapper element to deal with. I either have to use the wrapped type in my other complex, composed Types and/or add an external wrapping element when trying to create Business Services in BPM to call the BusinessRules I've created.
    This is a bit messy.
    To be clear, this does not seem to be an issue with Business Rules; the BR editor and generation of Facts (including simple restricted types -> JAXB 2.0/Java Enumerations) seems to work correctly. There seems to be an issue exposing DFs as Services. The code which generated the WSDL and its supporting types seems to choke on restricted SimpleTypes.
    As a side note, it seems that HumanTasks have a similar limitation

  • Creating File Upload in BPM

    Hi,
    I am fairly new to coding with BPM. I am trying to create a presentation that will allow a user to upload a file to the server. I do not where to start.
    Dose anyone know how to do this? I am using BPM 5.7 w/ALUI 6
    Any help in the matter will greatly appreciated
    Lilach

    If you have used the FileChooser correctly with all the JSP's attached..in ur screenflow..u shud be able to see the attachments in the inbox....
    Remember u have to use the following function:-
    (Attachment).create(contents : null, name : "", description : "");
    So that the attachment is seen in the inbox...
    Check...
    Fuego.Lib.Attachment in the catalog....
    Also make sure, u are using the key - value pair as shown in the FileChooser example...
    Also, the FileChooser uses enumerations..Make sure u go to advanced properties when u attach the JSP to the activity inside the screenflow to set it....
    I am talking abt ... Inside Screenflow --> Interactive Component Call ---> Main Task ----> Advanced (Properties---at the bottom) ----> showOut..

  • FileName in BPM

    Hello everybody,
    we poll via file adapter. The files we read are processed in BPM.
    Is it possible to access the value of a file name in BPM?
    Regards Mario

    Hi Mario,
    yes,
    set the Set Adapter-Specific Message Attributes indicator at communication channel and choose file name to store adapter attribute "file name" in the message header of the XI message.  Map the value into the message to have it at BPM containter.

  • BPM Process chain takes long time to process

    We have BI7, Netweaver 2004s on Oracle and SUN Solaris
    There is a process chain (BPM) which pulls data from the CRM system into BW. The scheduled time to run this chain is 0034 hrs. This chain should ideally complete before / around 0830 Hrs. <b>Now the problem is that every alternate day this chain behaves normally and gets completed well before 0830 hrs but every alternate day this chain fails…</b> there are almost 40 chains running daily. Some are event triggered (dependent with each other) or some run in parallel. In this, (BPM) process chain, usually there are 5 requests with 3 Delta and 2 full uploads (Master Data). The delta uploads finishes in 30 minutes without any issues with very few record transfers. The first full upload is from 0034 hrs to approximately 0130 hrs and the 2nd upload is from 0130 hrs to 0230 hrs. Now if the 1st upload gets delayed then the people who are initiating these chains, stop the 2nd full upload and continue it after all the process chains are completed. Now this entire BPM process chain sometimes takes 17 -18 hrs to complete!!!!!
    No other loads in CRM or BW when these process chains are running
    CRM has background jobs to push IDOCS to BW which run every 2 minutes which runs successfully
    Yesterday this chain got completed successfully (well within stipulated time) with over 33,00,000 records transferred but sometimes it has failed to transfer even 12,00,000 records!!
    Attaching a zip file, please refer the “21 to 26 Analysis screen shot.doc” from the zip file
    Within the zip file, attaching “Normal timings of daily process chains.xls” – the name explains it….
    Also within the zip file refer “BPM Infoprovider and data source screen shot.doc” please refer this file as the infopackage (page 2) which was used in the process chain is not displayed later on in page number 6 BUT CHAIN GOT SUCESSFULLY COMPLETED
    We have analyzed:--
    1)     The PSA data for BPM process chain for past few days
    2)     The info providers for BPM process chain for past few days
    3)     The ODS entries for BPM process chain for past few days
    4)     The point of failure of BPM process chain for past few days
    5)     The overall performance of all the process chains for past few days
    6)     The number of requests in BW for this process chain
    7)     The load on CRM system for past few days when this process chain ran on BW system
    As per our analysis, there are couple of things which can be fixed in the BW system:--
    1)     The partner agreement (transaction WE20) defined for the partner LS/BP3CLNT475 mentions both message types RSSEND and RSINFO: -- collect IDOCs and pack size = 1 Since the pack size = 1 will generate 1 TRFC call per IDOC, it should be changed to 10 so that less number of TRFCs will be generated thus less overhead for the BW server resulting in the increase in performance
    2)     In the definition of destination for the concerned RFC in BW (SM59), the “Technical Setting” tab says the “Load balancing” option = “No”. We are planning to make it “Yes”
    But we believe that though these changes will bring some increase in performance, this is not the root cause of the abnormal behavior of this chain as this chain runs successfully on every alternate day with approximately the same amount of load in it.
    I was not able to attach the many screen shots or the info which I had gathered during my analysis. Please advice how do I attach these files
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
    Normally  index  creation or deletion can take long time in case  your database statistics are not updated properly, so can check  stat  after your data loading is completed and index generation is done,  Do creation of database statistics.
    Then try to recheck ...

    When you say you're having trouble "opening" the BPM Object, is it possible you instead mean you're having trouble expanding the BPM Object?
    Just a guess, but if you're having trouble expanding the BPM Object I'd suspect that the object's xcdl contents might be corrupted. You might want to consider exporting and saving a backup of the project and then try deleting the object from the Project Navigator. Rebuild the BPM Object once you've deleted it.

  • Problems to invoke a secure Web service from Oracle BPM Studio 10.3

    Hi all
    I'm trying to consume a web service through HTTPS protoloco Oracle BPM Studio v10.3, but I get the following error: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target.
    Some help!!
    Thanks

    Without going into any technical discussion about the code, my first question is what JDK version was used to create this which was imported into the form? Understand that Forms 10 runs on JDK 1.4.2, so if you used any newer JDK version, likely there will be problems.

  • Fork is not working - BPM

    I have done 2 samples using fork and in both the cases it is not working. For each message new BPM is triggered and only one step (branch) gets completed and other branch steps remain in ready state forever.
    1) I have tested standard BPM pattern BpmPatternCollectMultiIf
    2) Simple process using fork - two branches using different inetrfaces (having different message types)
    Integration process return code is 0 - runtime cache
    I am testing on local sandbox (XI 3.0) with SP17.
    Under SAP help only brief description available about fork. Please share if you have good references/samples about fork (BPM).

    Jai,
    1)I expect following result in case of standard BPM pattern "BpmPatternCollectMultiIf"
    Note: Here same message type for all 3 interfaces ( branches), no end condition, no of branches = 3
    As all message types are same when I send first message only one branch will be executed and outbound status under sxmb_moni with be clock (Message being sent). When I send 2 message, second branch will be completed and status will be clock again. And when I send 3 rd message all branches will be completed and outbound status will be success flag (Message successful on outbound side). Under one process id three messages will be displayed
    Actual result is every time status as clock. and for each message new fork instance is created. below are the processids for 3 messages
    133721
    133726 -
    unexpected
    133731 -
    unexpected
    Ideally when you send 3 messages all should be process under process ids 133721 to 133725
    2) I have tried fork with 3 branches with different message types. When I send 3 messages ( here each payload is different as per message type ) I expect success flag after 3rd message. But in this case also always the status as clock. and every time new fork instance.
    Is anybody  successful to test BPM pattern -> BpmPatternCollectMultiIf?

  • Logical system name for acknowledgement in BPM

    Hi,
    I have a szenario:
    IDOC --> BPM --> MAIL
    Inside BPM I check the message and depending on an xml-element I stop the process or I send the message by mail.
    When I stop the process the BPM sends back an acknowledgement and in SXMB_MONI I can see an error of the acknowledgement:
    "Sender Test_BPM_IDOC_TO_MAIL kann nicht in ein ALE Logisches System umgeschlüsselt werden" (Sender can not convert in a ALE logical system)
    What can I do?
    Possible Solution 1:
    I can define my BPM "Test_BPM_IDOC_TO_MAIL" as a logical system (including WE20 for ALEAUD).
    Possible Solution 2:
    I can enter an existing logical system name in the "adapter specific attributes".
    BUT it is not use the same logical system name twice (BAD ... or is there a workaround?
    Is Solution 1) a common way?
    Thanx
    Regards
    Wolfgang Hummel

    Hi,
    there are many ways:
    some for aleaud are described in my book:

    no this is not good a good idea
    BTW
    you can also supress aleaud raport IDX_NOALE

  • Store Filename in Container Operation of BPM?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to store filename in Container Operation of BPM step? I know that using mapping and assigning that field to Container Operation can be done.
    But, is it possible to do without using payload field assignment?
    Regards,
    Ashish

    That seems to be the only possible way. Bcoz the filename in the dynamic header is lost when the message enters BPM.

    Prateek
