Envelope orientation issues

I cannot create an envelope that I simply retrieve from a file, hit print and get our copier (Toshiba e-studio) to accept. I have to fiddle with the orientation.
The problem is that I'm using a bypass tray that tests for the correct paper and wants something 4.12" wide (#10 envelope, short side fed).
I create an envelope using a custom size (called envelope) of 4.12 x 9.5" and then I change the orientation to the right side choice (under Page setup) and hit okay.. Now I print and everything works..
But these settings are not saved with the document, so I always need to recheck these everytime I use the envelope document. If I forget, I need to go to copier and delete the job.
I could check the "reverse orientation" box on the printer dialog box, save it as a new setting, but new settings don't save this option..
I'm setting this up for some office staff so it needs to be pretty simple..
My thoughts are that Pages is weak in the area of saving this type of info and I might have to purchase custom envelope software.

You think right.
The problem with Pages not retaining print setup in templates has vexed users here for some time.
Personally I'd use *Address Book* to print the envelopes, it is quite sophisticated.
Check out the many features in Address Book's Print dialogue box:
*Over-printing Pages with Address Book data* > *Format inside Address Book's print dialogue*

  • Envelope printing issues

I was trying to print an envelope with my new HP printer using Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac. When I press on print, the entire envelope is printed in black ink, covering the entire face of the envelope.
I checked the settings for the size envelope (#10). I also uninstalled the printer software and downloaded and re-installed the printer software, but the problem still exist.
Is there an compatibility issue with Yosemite 10.10.3?
    What could be the problem?

Hello @Blackjack2359, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having envelope print issues.   I'd like to assist!
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and drivers.

  • 8.1 orientation issues

According to the notes, iOS 8.1 was supposed to fix orientation issues. It has actually created some for me. When I'm in landscape mode and I switch app, it keeps defaulting the phone and all the apps back to portrait. I have to turn my phone up and down every time I change apps. I've rebooted and restarted and it's still happening. Very annoying. Anyone else having this issue?

    Hi BabalooToo,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone becomes unresponsive, there are some troubleshooting steps I'd like you to follow through outlined below.  As far as your "iCloud sync," what exactly is the issue you're experiencing?
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

  • Photo orientation issues on ipod touch..

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem.. when I was going through my pictures zooming in and out and rotating the frame something weird happened. I guess I rotated while I zoomed and the picture actually got stuck at like 45 degrees. After a second or two of trying to get it un-stuck at that strange angle, it went back to its proper 90 degree orientation but it was reversed. By that I mean the picture (portrait picture) was laying sideways while you held the ipod in portrait mode and when you held it in landscape mode the picture rotated to the same orientation of laying sideways (you know what I mean?) I tried taking the pictures off the ipod and reloading them, but that didn't work. Anyone else having this issue, and or how to fix it??

I'd like to help, but for the life of me, I can't make out what you're saying.
    Try again?

  • M251nw custom envelope printing issue - "cleaning"

Has anyone got any instructions to print custom envelope sizes for the M251nw using MAC OS? I am using 10.9.2.
I have set-up the correct custom size in the print dialog box, but it's just not printing out in the right spot. Do I need to download another driver? Also you have to click OK on the printer itself to laod the paper through every time and it does 'clean' itself after each print also. Can this be by-passed?
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
Please open the document  you are printing click on file and print on the printer properties window
Paper Size: Use options in this pop-up menu to choose the type of paper currently in your printer’s paper tray this drop down will have custom paper size option you can set your custom paper size here.

  • Flex app rejection because of Orientations issue on iOS7

We found that your app does not comply with the Apple iOS Human Interface Guidelines, as required by the App Store Review Guidelines.
While supporting both variants of both orientations, each with unique launch images, provides the best user experience and is recommended, we understand there are certain applications that must run in the landscape orientation only. In this case, it would be appropriate to support both variants of that orientation in your application, e.g., Home button right and left.
Addressing this issue typically requires only a simple and straightforward code modification. However, if you require assistance, the Apple Developer Support Team is available to provide code-level assistance.
For more information, please review the Aim to Support All Orientations section of the iOS Human Interface Guidelines.

  • Portrait photo orientation issue when viewed in slideshow

I have experienced this problem since first upgrading to 8.0. I have upgraded to 8.02, but this problem persists.
Most (but not all) of my portrait photos display incorrectly during slideshows (but display correctly otherwise). The pictures are rotated 90 degrees and are squished vertically and stretched horizontally. The result are pictures that fill a portrait oriented "frame" but are sideways, squat and stretched width-wise.
As near as I can tell, all my photos that I took with my digital cameras (all Canons of various models) have this problem, while only some photos I have received from friends have this issue. Perhaps it is an issue with iPhoto reading Canon's orientation flag? But why is it only a problem in slideshows?
I'm uncertain if this is relevant, but I've also noticed none of my portrait photos display properly when viewed via Front Row.
So far the only trouble shooting ideas I've been able to think of are:
1 - Remake my slideshows from scratch
2 - Rebuild my photo library.
Neither of these fixed my problem. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Try quitting iPhoto and trashing your iPhoto preferences file ("your username" ==> library ==> preferences ==> con.apple.iPhoto.plist) when you launch iPhoto a new default one will be created - reset any user preferences you have changed and repoint iPhoto to the library if you have moved it

  • Camera orientation (issue) while the orientation is fixed

    Hi!
Iam using iphone 4, and i found a very nasty thing, i dont know its an "issue" or just a logical bumping, anyway its very annoying.
While the portrait orientation is fixed, the camera orientation is going to be fixed aswell, but of course most of the people are turning while shooting (especially video) by 90 degrees, and because of the fixed orientation, the created video is going to be disoriented.
So i think the camera has to be excludes from the "globalized" orientation fixing, even its locked too. And of course after a wrong shooting, there is no way to fix this on the phone directly..
    Any tips, or advice ?
    Cheers,
    Ku5i

Take the picture while holding your phone as such that the volume buttons face downward.

  • PrintJob orientation issue

hi all, I have problem with print job
    myPrintJob.orientation = PrintJobOrientation.LANDSCAPE;
    it returns error:
    1059: Property is read-only.
    i use flash player 11.4
    P.S.
I checked adobe docs and it says that this property is read-only in AIR 1.0  (
    Runtime Versions:
    Flash Player 9 - read only, AIR 1.0 - read only, AIR 2 - read-write
    ) http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/printing/PrintJob .html
any solution about this issue ??
    thanks

it also says orientation is read-write in air 2 or better.  fp 11.4 is not air 2 or better.

  • [solved] Image orientation issue

    Hello,
I have a problem with image orientation.
I am using Arch64 and KDE 4.4.5 from Arch.
When I look at my pictures in digikam (1.3.0) or gwenview, portrait pictures are displayed fine. If I send them with thunderbird, portrait images are displayed with landscape orientation.
The only workaround I found is to rotate twice the image with digikam (once on the right and once on the left to set it back to previous orientation).
I have noticed that EXIF information change...does anyone have the same issue and knows what is the cause of it ?
before, orientation is "droit, haut" = "right, top"
after, orientation is "haut, gauche" = "top, left" and width and heigth size is set...
    regards

Digital cameras create images that aren't rotated as such -- as plain images they're always in landscape format. If your camera has an orientation sensor, it will merely hint at the intended orientation by setting the exif orientation value in the jpeg file (instead of really rotating the image and creating a jpeg with a portrait format).
Not all programs interpret all exif data. Programs that don't interpret the exif orientation (as thunderbird seems to do it) will display the image as it is (always in landscape), while others (like digikam) use the exif data to decide on how to rotate the image for display. So digikam is just smart enough to show the image in it's "logical" portrait format while it's "physically" remains in landscape format.
To make a real portrait jpeg, you have to really rotate it and adjust the exif orientation accordingly, which is what effectively happens if you use digikam in the way you describe it. So that's not a workaround, but required to make sure that all programs display the images in the desired format, and not just those that are smart enough to honor the exif orientation.
See the jpegexiforient and jpegautotran programs for an explanation and an alternative way to rotate images based on their exif orientation value.

  • Orientation issues when using Save As in Adobe Reader X

I am using Adobe Reader X (10.1.2) and any time I change the orientation of the PDF file, when I do FILE - SAVE AS - PDF and save the PDF under a different name, and then OPEN the newly created PDF, the orientation reverts back. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 10.1.2. Should I go back to 9?? It's Windows 7 64-bit and I am running this as ADMIN.

Reader cannot rotates pages in a document, but it can rotate the view. This is not something that can be saved. Adobe Acrobat can rotate pages and save the document, but not Reader.

  • Camera Orientation issue in landscape mode application

    Hello Team,
I have developed one application and it is totally in landscape mode. I have one problem with opening camera in landscape mode. I have given only one orientation support "Landscape-Right" in .plist file . So that when i click Record button in my application at that time application crash and it gives me an error
'Supported orientations has no common orientation with the application, and shouldAutorotate is returning YES'
I have also read that iPhone support only Portrait mode for opening camera . In my application i have forcefully changed it to landscape using custom overlayview.
Anyone have any idea regardig this?

Please ignore, I have finally found the problem.
I was initializing the UIView in my ViewController with the CGRect defined when in Portrait (bounds). So when I turned the device to go into landscape it was still using a portrait frame.
    I'm now initializing the UIView with: CGRect appFrameLandscape = CGRectMake(0, 0, 480, 320);

  • Envelope Index issue.

It's me again, sorry. Here's the previous thread that sets this up.
Not sure if you read my last post to that thread, but I'd taken your advice, Ernie, to try a first attempt at finding my lost mail with the app you mentioned (the demo version). This is a slightly odd aside now: I thought that by replacing the Envelope Index that you'd had me remove last week I could at least retrieve all the basic info without any of the messages themselves (i.e. who sent them and the subject line). Thought that at least I could hang on to those for those three POP mailboxes' last 8 months of mail. The dozen other mailboxes I'd compiled had not been affected by my [original] stupidity and all the messages were there. So, when I did this just now, I now find that ALL of my emails, in every mailbox, have now lost their messages (save the one that says: The message from _____ <____@____.__> concerning “__” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it..
The only good thing about this current situation is that I now know for certain that I did not lose my emails (I certainly have not erased/deleted any of the messages in all those additional mailboxes), at least not these most recent disappearences. So, maybe I should call tech support on this. Suggestions?
    Thanks, Paul

  • Envelope Distort Issue

I'm using envelope distort option under the objects file menu to put some text on a roof top shape but the top of the text is distorting badly. (See attached image) Anyone know why this happen and how to solve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Select the roof shape & your type,
then object >> envelope distort >. make with top object.
I personally like the top image as the logo better if I may say so , distorting the "N" looks like a sagging roof.
