Envelope Tool

I'm trying to use the envelope sub-tool to distort a group of shapes. Each shape is on multiple layers. When I select all of these shapes, however, the envelope tool is greyed out. It will only let me use the envelope tool on one layer at a time.
In previous versions of Flash (I was using CS6 before) the envelope tool could be used when selecting multiple shapes across different layers. Is there an extra step I need to take in order to use the envelope tool in the way that I need it, or is this feature just not available in CC?

No, because both Motion and Classic tweens require a Symbol and the envelope tool only works on Shapes. Try adding more shape hints...and also try using fewer shape hints. Both strategies have worked for me.

  • Why can't I use envelope on mutiple layers in Flash CS6?

    Hi,
I used to be able to envelope accross multiple shape layers in earlier versions of Flash but now the envelope tool is greyed out when I have more than one layer selected at a time! Why get rid of such a useful feature?
If anyone has a work around or an explanation I would be very greatful.
    Thanks,
    Dan

the envelop subtool of the free transform tool works the same in flash cs6 as flash cc, as far as i can tell.

  • Envelops do not print, but regular text material does print, since upgrading to Yosemite.

I have two HP Printers that connect to my MACBook Pro.  HP5520 an HP6510 mutifunction print, scan, copy.  I have recently upgraded my operating system to the OS X Yosemite 10.10.  Now the print envelop tool does not work.  The envelop feeds through the printer but does not print the addresses.
I just upgraded the HP software but note it was the Mavericks version so do I assume correctly that this bug has not been fixed by HP for Yosemite?

Here is the solution:  I uninstalled the old version of Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 and purchased a new version, installed, updated.  Now word is able to print envelops on my all-in-one.  So the issue was a microsoft bug.

  • Can't find the horizontal Level Envelope

I'm making a CD with a bunch of my songs; on some of them, the wave form is skinny, because their volume is lower, and I want to even them up so that the listener isn't turning the volume up and down from song to song.
I found instructions to do this by adjusting the level of the skinny (i.e. quieter) regions. It says "Move the pointer over the horizontal Level Envelope that you want to adjust. The pointer changes to the level envelope tool and a help tag displays the original and adjusted values." However, I can't see the line, and my pointer does NOT change to a level envelope tool. What do I need to change so that both these things appear?
Also, if there's an easier way to achieve my goal, that would be great (I tried normalizing the tracks, but that didn't help).
    Thanks!!

You don't see the line which ends with a ◊ at each end, like this?
Also, if there's an easier way to achieve my goal, that would be great (I tried normalizing the tracks, but that didn't help).
Adjusting the overall level probably won't get you too far - you can have a song, with a couple of loud peaks, that will appear to be much quieter than an intentionally softer song with controlled peaks. Normalizing won't help.
The key here is that you want to increase the perceived volume (levels), which has nothing to do with the peak levels. 0 dBFS cannot be exceeded - it's the absolute maximum. So to get your tracks louder, you need to increase your apparent volume, often referred to as the average RMS level.
A good way to try this is to open your mix in a fresh Logic project (I prefer doing it there instead of WaveBurner, but whatever you prefer). You could try first applying a compressor, threshold set so that any peaks are controlled. You can use a compressor or a multiband compressor, but be careful; the latter can really mess up your mix unless you're careful and practice a lot.
Next, insert the Adaptive Limiter. Find the peak in your song, and set the left (Input Margin) side of AdLimiter so that you get close, but never go over 0 dB. on the right, set AdLimiter's output to -0.3 dB and crank the gain control to taste. At the bottom of AdLimiter's window, click the disclosure triangle, and set Mode to "NoOver.' You will change the character of the sound doing this; it's up to you if you like it or not, but you can definitely get your track loud.
There are lots of threads here and in the Logic forums about this. Try searching on AdLimiter, compression and mastering.

  • How do I use Cisco Registered Email Service with 10.7?

I received a email via someone using Cisco Registered Email/Envelope Service.  The authentication process required the latest version of JAVA for 10.7, which I downloaded and installed.  When I try to logon, the screen hangs with the message "Loading Envelope Tools."  If I press "open" again it states "Inactive tools."  The alternate method is to open the mail via a secure Web site, which I can open, but I am unable to download attachments.  To download attachments, I am directed to a page that begins with "x-msg:" and I get a message that says: "Safari can't open the address .. . because MAC OX doesn't recognize Internet Addresses starting with "x-msg:"

Thanks for the info Roger, this is indeed did work for me (at least the part about signing in on apple.com, haven't tried the rest). Since Apple does not allow for the merging of Apple IDs, my plan is to use the old me.com address (from the free trial) with iCloud but then forward all the messages from the old me.com to my current Apple ID. Problem is all my devices are already associated with iCloud. So... if I want to activate iCloud using the old me.com, how do I do it?
I have two ideas: 1) as you suggest, signing out and signing back in through the iCloud preference pane (either on Mac OS or iOS); but I'm worried this will have consequence - will I be able to sign back in to my main Apple ID account after doing this?
    2) create a new user on my Mac and then sign in to iCloud with the old me.com address there, then delete the account.
Thanks for any help with this.

  • AICS3, How to curve a block of text

I'm still using AICS3, but I hope someone can help me anyway. I'm creating a file that will eventually go to a sign shop to have vinyl letters cut. These letters are being adhered to the surface of a cone (I work in a museum: I'm always doing stuff like this.) My problem is that the entire paragraph of text, about 12 lines, needs to be curved. That way it will conform to the cone surface. I could do a series of concentric arcs, but AI does not draw arcs (by the way, an arc is defined as a set of points equidistant from a reference point arrayed in a measure of arc degrees or some other fraction of a circle circumference. It is not a curved line defined by an x,y box, which is what AICS3 misnames an "arc." So please don't tell me to use the "arc" tool. There isn't one. Sorry for the digression, but this needs to be pointed out so I don't get crazy answers.) I tried using the Envelope tool, but it is really unworkable. The text cannot be selected, the arc cannot be controlled, etc. Would it be better to do this in InDesign CS3? I'm willing to use either ID or AI if I can get it done. Thanks in advance for any help!

Not being able to, at a minimum, draw an arc or circle by radius is absurd and there can be no debate on this.
Well, here's the debate that "cannot be":
This ideal arc tool you envision; tell me, which radius would you expect it to prompt you for when you need to draw a non-circular arc?
Do you think that just because a software asks you to specify a circle in terms of center coordinates and radius that what it renders is therefore actually a circle, when otherwise it is not? Again, that's nonsense.
In about 30 minutes, I could create for you a Javascript-based tool that runs in Illustrator and that prompts you for center coordinates and a radius and then draws a circle. Would you then consider the circles it draws to be more "correct" or "accurate"? In fact, for my own purposes, I have a very simple Javascript that lets me define an ellipse in terms of diameter and "angle" (tilt relative to the picture plane), just as ellipses are defined on industry-standard drafting templates.
Similarly, a plug-in programmer could code an actual real-time interactive tool with which you would mousedown where you want the center of a circle to be, and then drag so as to define the radius. The interface of such a tool could even require you to drag the end of the displayed "radius" in order to change the size of the circle, and display no Bezier control points unless "converted" from a "circle" to a Bezier path. Wanna see one? Canvas. But do you think it doesn't actually draw a Bezier curve?
Regardless, if either those tools exist in Illustrator (and just about any other program of the same type and purpose) the actual math defining the resulting path would still be cubic Bezier equations, whether you ever saw path handles and height/width values or not. If that bothers you, and you actually think it matters, you just have to use something else. And good luck efficiently doing general-purpose commercial illustration with a CAD program. Bezier math is the curve-rendering math basis of PostScript, and therefore of Illustrator. It is not "sub-standard" or "inferior" to other curve rendering equations. In fact, it is arguably superior.
Again, if all you're saying is that Illusrtrator's Ellipse interface is sub-standard, I'd be the last to disagree. FreeHand's Elipse tool, for example, allows you to define any circular or eliptical arc or circle or ellipse with the one tool. But that doesn't change the fact that the actual math being used to plot the curve is still the same cubic Bezier equation as used in Illustrator. And you seem to think that a Bezier-described arc is not a "real" arc to any extent that matters one whit to anything.
We've had this discussion here before. No software on the planet actually "draws a circle." Strictly speaking, you've never even seen an "actual" circle. The only "circle" (or triangle, or any other geometric primitive) you've ever actually seen is a mere physical approximation of an ideal concept. The physical result of all curve-drawing algorithms is a mere approximation, limited by the physical realities of the rendering mechanism. So if you are going to persist in this utter nonsense of making the most extremely huge mountain out of a literally microscopic molehill, you are eventually going to have to speak to the actual degree of inaccuracy that causes you such angst.
Give me an example of a software that you think draws a "real" circle. A CAD program? How does that work? Do you know? Do you think it actually starts by shining the emitter of a CRT at the point on the screen you specify as the center, moves horizontally the distance you specify as the radius, and then scribes a circular path around the center as if being swung on a string? If that "circle" is exported as a DXF file and is then used to drive to an NC plotter, do you think the path in the DXF file is actually a circle, and not a series of straight-path facets that merely approximate a circle?
When that DXF drawing is plotted to a pen plotter, do you think the instructions to the plotter actually say "spin the pen around this point at this distance"? No, it says "step the roller motor at these increments (move Y), while stepping the pen holder at these increments (move X)." In fact, it really usually says, "go to this XY coordinate. Then go to this XY coordinate. Then go to this XY coordinate....", in other words, drawing straight-line facets. Does that sound more like "radius and center" or " X and Y" to you?
So do you consider a set of XY coordinate pairs that merely describe the corners of a multi-sided polygon to be a "truer" circle than that generated by automatically plotting a curve at the highest physical resolution of a marking device according to the resolution independent nature of a cubic Bezier equation?
Have you ever run a CAD program in which you had to "regenerate the buffer" (i.e.; re-rasterize the screen image) after zooming in on the path that you naively think is being described as an "actual" circle? Have you never zoomed into a 3D model in an interactive video game and seen painfully ugly faceting?
Now, an NC device (say, a cylinder boring machine) may actually receive commands to "set the cutter arm to this distance, then begin spinning the spindle motor at this RPM while tracking the depth at this rate." But I wouldn't recommend using that NC device or its instructions to render curves to your computer monitor or to a printing press. But if all you want to do is draw circles with a boring bar....

  • Digital Out Sample Clock Sources

    Hey guys,
I am putting together an application <attached>.
Currently I have the ai/sampleclock wired to its timing VI.  When I run this with highlighting on, it just goes to the read for the digital in task and waits there like it has not yet acquired enough samples.  Am I right in thinking that this should result in an array of integers 2000 elements long with 1's where the line is high and 0's where the line is low?
When I swapped the clock source to being di/sampleclock I get something about my device not supporting it.
This is my first adventure into digital in, anybody have a quick hint?
    Thanks,

First - how are you doing a difference of 2 quad encoders?  Are you taking the A channel from each of 2 different encoders running at the same nominal pulse rate?  I'm away from my LV PC and can't go back and look now.  I've done that kind of thing before, where you configure for up/down counting and you get a measure of relative lead and lag.
Second - all the stuff I did was at home while procrastinating and is fully untested.  Don't trust it to do what I said it should without testing.
Third - does it make sense to save data continuously like I tried to do for you?  I've developed a rule of thumb that says, "when in doubt, store to file and defer the decision-making."  The reason I goofed with the # of samples acquired & displayed was that I pictured you updating a graph representing <something> through exactly 1 engine cycle.  Seemed like updating it a couple times a second would be enough.
Since this is your thread and you asked, here's the scoop on Audacity:  I actually grunted through that stuff several months back.  I probably did use the envelope tool, but I think I ended up applying it piecewise in several little pieces through the fade region.  I couldn't make the envelope curves apply just the right shape to keep the volume constant across the fade.
It was interesting in a weird way.  I'd have thought going in that nothing could be easier to mix imperceptibly than noise.  It turned out that the clicks you get with no fade and the volume artifacts coming from linear fade make noise especially *difficult* to mix.
At some stage I think I mixed in some pure noise and then applied some filtering to cut out high freq hiss.  I also added some low freq amplitude modulation and some low freq Left<-->Right panning.  In the order of <0.1 Hz, with the two effects at frequencies without common multiples.  Overall the effect isn't very noticeable (especially the panning on a boombox), but I think the slight variation works better than 100% solid repetition.  Anyway, they were effects sitting there in Audacity and I figured they'd be fun to goof with.
Finally, a couple months after the first cd I found an old "Nature Sounds" tape of crashing waves on a beach.  So I mixed that in with the original cd to make a version 2.  The nightly scoreboard is now Fans - 2, Boomboxes - 2.  I'm getting there...

  • Change the volume of one audio file played in icm script

    Hello,
Using the play external script element to simply play queue music (recorded as 10 minutes long), is there a way to adjust the volume of the audio being played within the script without having to re-record that specific audio file?
95% of our static audio is recorded fine and plays at the appropriate volume, but we have new queue music coming in all the time (with sales info, annoncements, etc.) that is different in volume from time to time and it would be nice to have an adjustment filter for playing that specific audio file and then adjust back to the default (if needed) afterward.
This would be much easier than asking our vendor to re-record over and over again until tested right.
Anything possible with this? Or would there be something on CVP that could control volume for one specific audio file?
    Thanks for any info,
    Greg

Even if CVP could control the volume on individual files (It can't, as far as I know), you're better off normalizing the file in Audacity as David mentioned. Having some server modify things on the fly is just wasting resources, why not adjust the file? Audacity is free and open source.
We record our voice prompts using a Unity Connections Voicemail box... Not the cleanest solution, but it works well for us as we have small global contact centers all in different regions, with different voices for each center. I make a habit of running all of my files through Audacity before putting them on media servers - otherwise I would potentially have prompts recorded at different times having different volumes depending on how "the voice" and Unity were doing that day, not to mention all the pops and clicks from using a sub-optimal recording solution.  Normalize and the Envelope Tool are my best friends.

  • Stop rotating in shape tween

    Hi,
    I have made a rectangle in cs6 actionscript 2.0
Now I want to make it a Liquified shape, that keeps moving. So am planning to do, is to make keyframes and then change the shape with the envelop tool or the pen tool. And between the keyframes I want to use the shape tween to make it a smooth transition. Problem is, that when the shape then changes, it automaticly rotates 90 degrees. I just want it to change to the shape in the next keyframe, not make a rotation while doing so.
If there are other better ways of doing this, please feel free sharing tips!
    Thanks a lot!
    Patrick

use shape hints: modify>shape>add shape hints.

  • Setting type on a arc

Is there a way to set type and logos on a arc? We are doing a coffee cup wrap and need to wrap type (6 point references) and logos to the dieline supplied to us. I tried to use the envelope tool and make with top object, but it distorted the type.  On a mac G5 and using Illustrator CS3

Presumably you are working on a conical design so an evelope distort using a Top Object is probably your best bet.
Make your top object the same shape as the print area of your cone.
Do the rest of the stuff so that it's pretty close in size to the top object, but rectangular. Make a copy of it for safe keeping
Then do your distort with the top object on top (of course).
Small lettering such as type around the top edge of the cup can be put in later using the Type on a Path tool - if it's small it probably won't need distorting anyway.

  • How to Print Envelopes - HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP

I can't work out how to print envelopes on my HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP.
I put the envelope upright (flap down) in the adjustable tray at the very top of the machine (as I have done in almost every printer I've used) and it prints the address on a sheet of paper!

    Hi goodgrandma ,
I see by your post that you would also like to know how to print envelopes.
I will be happy to help you.
Both the Laserjet m251 and M276 have a main tray only.
Above the tray is the jam access door to remove paper jams.
To print on the envelopes, you would need to remove all the paper from the main tray and load the envelopes in the main (bottom) tray, to print to envelopes with these two units.
If you are using Word Application, click on Tools, select Letters and Mailing/Envelopes and labels, the envelope box will open, in the envelope tab enter your address, click on Options, click the Printing Options tab, you will need to change the Feed from to Auto, it is likely set to Manual.
What is the full name and product
number of your printer? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    Hope this helps.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
    Have a great day!

  • My menu for "file" "tools" ,etc. has disappeared and I don't know how to get it back and keep it there at the top. Also, my e-mail (gmail) has disappeared and when I try to get a new gmail account, it doesn't "take". What to do????

I thought that my account had been hacked and that might be the reason I could not get my 2 different e-mails. Also, at the same time this happened, I could not get into Internet Explorer. I could still get into and use Open Office during the above problems

Thank you for the info re. the main menu. Your answer I used worked; however, the menu bar all the way across is solid black. The only way I can find out the names on the menu is to point the cursor from left to right over the black bar to find "file" "edit" tools", etc. What do I need to do to get these menu titles to be seen?
As regarding the GMail --the menu bar used to have an envelope symbol which was white and outlined in red. That disappeared. I googled "mail.google.com" to try to get back my email. This didn't work. I then tried to get a different email address and password--after 8-19 attempts, this never worked. My other email (sbcglobal.net) has never returned. So I don't know where that went or how to get it back

  • Unable to use B2B Document Editor tool to create guideline from data file

Does anyone successfully used the B2B Document Editor tool to generate the guideline doc from an HL7 data file ?
I attempted to use the SpecGenerator feature of this tool to create a guideline from the "a01.xml" sample file in the HL7 tutorials (came with the B2B installation" and the wizard kept on giving me "parsing errors" message below
"The data in the file could not be parsed. Please check the file to verify that it is valid and formatted correctly. This error can occur for one of the following reasons: A) The data file may be a Word document or have some other binary format. B) The envelope data may not be formatted properly. If this is an X12 data file, please verify that the ISA segment is the correct size (exactly 106 characters). If this is an EDIFACT data file, it must have either a UNA or begin with UNB. For other standards, verify that the envelope segments conform to the specified rules. C) The segment/record delimiters in the file are incorrect."
Any idea why ? I did not alter the sample file in anyway -- its format is exactly the same as when it was installed.
    Any helps are appreciate !!

    Hi,
I would suggest that you learn the B2B product starting with the HL7 tutorial. Start by importing the export files and follow the instructions to make the system work end to end.
Next, you want to configure for the HL7 tutorial manually using the ecs and xsd files provided in the HL7 tutorial directory. Again, ensure that the system work end to end after you have done the manual configuration.
Next, you create a new ecs and xsd file using the Document Editor from scratch and use them in your manual configuration. You can use the same doctype and version as in the tutorial so that you can be familiar with the Document Editor and at the end of this exercise, you know you have done things properly if the system works end to end. The documentation for Document Editor is mainly in the Windows Help section.
After the incremental steps above, you will have the knowledge to implement the document type and version of your project. Going straight into the requirements in your project makes it difficult to debug because they are too many moving parts.
