Envy 1154er noise above keyboard

Hi. I've just bought HP envy m6-1154er and detect a great (it's my opinion) noise near display at the middle of bottom panel. It seems like fan noise, or working CPU mb.  If it's normal and what would be the cause of this noise?

I would suggest opening the bottom of the unit to check on a wire touching a fan. If that is not the issue and the sound is coming from the HDD I suggest contacting HP support for a replacement drive.

  • HP Envy Touchsmart 15-j004sa keyboard skipping keys

    Hi,
I have just purchased a HP Envy Touchsmart 15-j004sa keyboard and am very happy with except for one thing. The keyboard keeps skipping keys.
This is most prominent around the centre of the keyboard. Where they keyboard seems to flex (is this normal?)
It appears that in order for a key to be registered as being pressed I need to press it directly in the centre of the key, which may be why it happens mostly with keys near the centre of the keyboard.
Is this something that can be fixed? I have seen reports of other users experiencing the same problem.
I dont want to return the laptop as it meets all my other requirements but this issue is just too frustrating to live with if it can not be resolved.

  • Noise under keyboard repair?

MacBook Pro with noise under the keyboard (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303365)
I have a week 24 15" MacBook Pro, and I found the above page recently, and noticed that I do have this noise. Has anyone had this specific problem addressed by applecare? Does it require sending in the computer for repair? If so, how long did it take? Is the problem urgent? I just started my first semester of graduate school, and I don't think I can part with this for very long.

It is the "whine" problem. I just recently got mine back from Apple. I took it in for repair on the 2nd of August and got it back on Aug 17. That is a very long time IMO. The reason for the wait is that the part was "on order". But now that it is back I have a much quieter, and much cooler MBP. The repair that they perform is a logic board replacement. They also provide you with a new set of Restore discs for your MBP.
    Hope this helps!

  • Annoying low pitch noise under keyboard (around esc key) any solution??????

    Hi guys,
All of a sudden I am experiencing the same noise under my keyboard and it doesn't go away. I always take a very good care of my computer but I don't know what has caused it and even though I have purchased the Apple care plan but I am in an area that there is no Apple service center (I am away from Canada). I have ran the hardware test (extended test), it could not find anything but this noise is annoying.
Please someone or an apple technician tell me what to do? Does anyone have a local number (in Canada) other than 1-800 number for Apple technical support? I have purchased my Macbook Pro in March 2009!!!! I will appreciate your help!
The second question I have is that after just couple of months that I purchased this MBP, Apple changed the configurations to what I was really after but no one at Apple store told me anything that if I wait I can get a new version of MBP with 8GB RAM and SD card. Where can I send my complaint to Apple? Does anyone have any email address of apple management? I feel Apple has not been honest with me.

Thanks for your reply but its not the speed of the fan, I have checked. Even when I turn the computer on, right from the beginning, you can hear the noise.
In that case I suspect that it is actually either a defective or out of balance fan (most probable) , or the fans are running at full speed because of a problem with the thermal control processes.
Regarding the second part of my message, I asked all , I emphasize, all of the sales reps about the availability of more RAM to be specific but no one told me anything. I waited quite sometime to see if they offer they same amount of RAM as their 17" (8GB) but at last, since my previous laptop was broken, I had to make the move. I have heard that Apple has, in some cases like mine, compensated the customers by exchanging or offering money. I expect that Apple must do the same to me too since it just happened couple of months after my purchase not a whole lot longer.
Sales staff are very unlikely to really know what will be contained in the next upgrade until a matter of days before any new release, Sasan.
As far as "compensation" goes, If you had bought the Mac within a few days of the model change over that might be a different matter but Apple's 14 day return policy would have allowed you to move up to the "new" model at minimal expense (the price of their small restocking fee) anyway. Two months is a different order altogether. Model runs with computers are always quite short. If manufacturers had to replace every computer purchased within the last two months before a new one was released with the new model then they would all go broke very quickly!

  • Always show numeric line above keyboard

    Hi,
Does anybody know where can I set my blackberry to always show the keyboard with numeric keys?
    Defalut:
Wished (not just with password fields, but everywhere):
    Thank you!

There are no settings in keyboard and languages for for including the number bar.
Wouldn't be practical, with the action bar above that it would take up more than half the screen.

  • Quick Step Keyboard Shortcuts Work With Number Keys Above Keyboard, But Not On Keypad

Had this same issue with Outlook 2013:
"I assigned hotkeys to several Quick Steps, and used the suggested convention of Ctrl + Shift +1, Ctrl + Shift + 2... through 5.
When I use the number keys above my QWERTY keys, all is well.
When I use the keys on my keypad, Outlook does funny things like collapsing all the day's e-mails into the "Today" heading."
Correct. The keypad values do different things and you can't substitute the keys - you need to use the row numbers with the QAT."
Ergonomically, the number keys on the numpad are far superior to the ones above the keyboard for processing email quickly and easily (and without carpel tunnel!). I'm right-handed so it's much more natural for me to hold down the same two control keys (alt-shift)
with my left hand and select the action (a different key every time) I want with my right. Can do it opposite, but requires more conscious thought and is more subject to error (which defeats the whole purpose when I have to go fish a mis-acted on email out
    of the wrong folder).
Was wondering if this issue had been corrected in 2013 (or there was an easy workaround that doesn't involve writing and maintaining a separate macro or installing/maintaining a separate program like AutoHotKeys). The built-in functionality is 99% what I need,
but the ergonomic issue may make it unusable for me.

    Hi,
I can confirm in Outlook 2013 the shortcut keys can only use the number keys above "QWERTY..." and we can't use the number keys on the keypad. This comes by design and is not changeable currently.

  • DV7-3079WM multimedia buttons above keyboard stopped working

I recently had my laptop checked by Warranty Logistics.  When I got it back, the multimedia buttons and wireless button above the keyboard no longer work.  Since the hardware still works, I assume they disabled some custom HP software some how.  I've searched, but can't find the software.
If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.  TIA
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Can you let me know if these buttons are still illuminated but just will not change colour ( ie the wireless icon will not change from Amber to Blue )?
Try a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for a full minute.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook - is there any change?

  • How to get rid of find on page above keyboard

I can not get rid of find on page bar above the keyboard on my ipad2.  I tried closing all apps, shutting down the ipad as suggested in other solutions, but it did not work.

If you are talking about the Find on Page feature in Safari, you can't get rid of that. It is there for a reason,  and that is so that you can search for something g on a given web page.

  • New PB 15" emits static noise from keyboard area

Immediately after purchasing a new 15" PB there is a low crackle/popping noise coming from the keyboard area when the machine is on. It is loud enough to be heard from 5-8' away when working in a relatively quite work environment. The sound is also muted so I know that isnt' it.
Spent an hour on the phone with applecare and they have had my PB since Monday morning with the 'Hold - Engineering' note pasted on the support website.
    Has anyone had similar problems?

I myself have a titanium and a G5 (and have tested other aluminum powerbooks) that exhibit this behavior when the following conditions are met:
previewing movies or audio in the Finder
firewire or pcmcia soundcard attached and being used
some applications cause this to be louder. it is more noticable when the processor performance is set to "highest" in the energy saver control panel.
since you have a newer 'book, and there is no processor performance drop-down, i am curious about this. i have found it to be more noticeable on the aluminum powerbooks actually. probably just because the G5 is sitting under my desk as oppossed to in front me.
just look around the forums for the word "sizzle" and you will read more about it. From my understanding this is standard and the noise is caused by the processor napping. Most people who are annoyed by this have installed CHUD (from Apple developer tools) to turn off processor napping. This makes the noise go away but it also does not sleep the processor. This shorten battery life and the fans to go on sooner since the powerbook runs hotter with this off.

  • Noise under keyboard

There is a high pitched sound coming from somewhere under the keyboard it seems. I purchased the MBP around July 2006, and I had called support to see if my logic board needed replacing, and they said mine was not in the list as needing replacing. However, something interesting I have noticed is that when I run Photo Booth or use Boot Camp to run Windows, there is no noise whatsoever coming from the computer. What do you recommend?

I have had the same high pitch whine under my keyboard ever since I purchased it in June 2006. It can get really irritating! It turns out, that when the computer is not doing anything CPU intensive it utilizes a power saving technique to not waste battery life on idle CPU cycles. Thus the CPU seems to "whine" (i don't know for sure if it really is the CPU whining, but the whine does come from that general area.) There is currently a hack related to the iSight camera that stops the whine. This seemed to work on 10.4.4 and 10.4.5. There is also an application that will cause your CPU to go from idle (0%) up to 66% by moving a track bar. This causes the CPU to become so bogged down, that it will use the power saving technique. Yes, this will run your battery down faster. You can find these applications here (http://www.red-sweater.com/blog/macbook-pro-noise-complaints/). The one I use is QuietMBP. I have used these with success, but I did not write these, nor am I affiliated with them in any way. I just hope that they will help others.

  • Clicking Noise On Keyboard

Not sure where I started this conversation because I can't find it. I found where to turn off the clicking and vibrating noise on the keyboard when you send text messages. It's under: Setting >Language and Input> Samsung Keyboard>General Settings and unclick Key-tap vibration and Key-Tap Sound.

If it is the motion sensor causing it then its normal, sometimes if i press the keys a bit quick or to hard it will do it.
Try turning the motion sensor off for a bit and see if the noise stops.
To turn off go to the terminal and type sudo pmset -a sms 0
To turn back on use the same command but change the 0 for a 1
Then try it for a bit and see if the click has stopped. If it has you know it is the motion sensor parking the HDD because its detected movement,
Let me know how you get on.

  • IPhone 5, screen noise in keyboard number bar, pop-up app store

    OK,
When in the app store, and typing in the password, there is a single line of screen "noise," usually in the top number row, but I have also seen it in in the second alphabet row.
This is the only place we have encountered this problem. Has anyone else? Can you give it a try, entering your password in the app store and see if you get the problem too.
    Thanks.

I see the exact same thing. Thought it was tied to battery level, but it's not. I see if often when in appstore and confirming password as an app is downloaded or updated. Iphone 5, 32G. Suspecting software, hopefully not hw.
