Envy 15 j - Left hinge seriously broken

I've seen quite a few posts here about the evny 15 hinge. Mine has unfortunatey aslo become deformed and broken. The laptop doesn't close properly and there is a gap between the casing. The sreen also sits lopsided and in the last day the left fan has started making a screeching noise and the screen can move freely without resistance over around 10 degrees in any position.
There doesn't ever seem to be a resoultion to the problem posted on the forums. My laptop is still in warranty but I have seen one post that says the hinges arent covered! Can someone please tell me how I am suppose to get this fixed?

  • X121E Left hinge is broken

Hello. The left hinge of my laptop was broken after less than 100 open / close cycles. Service center says it's not a warranty issue, but if judge by google search it is a design flaw, because every next user has the same problem. Please advise where should I sent a complaint?

    Hi, nebucad_nezzard
When it comes to International Warranty Service, Lenovo has this tool right here that will tell you if service is available in a country. It will also tell you what kind of service you can receive in said country. Put in your machine type and see what you can do!

  • My HP envy ultrabook left hinge broke and now my screen wont light up

So I have had this computer for a little over a year and a half and about 2 months ago my left hinge broke. I was out of the country studying abroad so there wasn't much I could do about it. After I got home I didnt have the time nor the money to fix it so I was just carefully opening and closing it. Well today when I opened it, the screen wouldn't light up. I really need to get it fixed fast because I am a full time college student and my classes depend on having a computer. What can I do? Oh I should say, it is not under the warranty anymore.Help please?

Hi HP + all, I am currently in a similar situation. The bottom left part of the frame (very close to the left hinge) is detached from the screen, making it difficult to open and close the laptop. I have had this problem at least two (most three) times in the past year and each time have sent it to HP for repair while having the one-year waranty. It appears to be an issue of faulty glue, but if left untreated, the opening and closing gets more difficult (even while I hold the frame and screen together while performing such actions) and the left hinge will start creaking. My warranty is expired and the additional repair period that HP gives after a repair (30 days? 90 days? I forgot) is over. My last repair was in late 2013 or early 2014. I do not carry my latop by the frame at all, and I treat the Ultrabook with care (gently placing on table when using after first frame separation). I no longer close it at all and only use it on my home desk. It's very frustrating to repeatedly have the same issue, very frustrating that I can't take it to public places without risking something, and it also makes me unhappy since each cycle of sending the laptop over and waiting for it to come back takes away a week or more of work. Can someone please address this? I am nearing my wit's end with this repeated issue. Thanks.

  • Envy lap top hinge is broken

The hinges are sticking and has separated from its support within the computer. It is pushing away the back of the computer. A total mess. I have not dropped or damaged the computer in anyway. This computer is less than 12 months old. I'm not impressed with this.

  • Sleekbook (envy) left hinge broken

I simply opened my laptop, envy series sleekbook and found that left hinge is broken and online research I have done that shows this problem is faced by many other users of envy series . Certainly it's a design flaw .
My laptop is still in warranty. Please let me know will it be covered in warranty ? Otherwise how much will I have to pay?

    Hi:
This is a consumer to consumer forum, so no one here can speak on behalf of HP regarding what is or what is not covered under the warranty.

  • Left hinge broken on ENVY m6

My left hinge is falling apart. It's been weak since I got it repaired within warranty when I bought it. When I bought it, part of the screen didn't work and I think when it was repaired some damage was done to the back of the screen (the metal on the lid was pretty bent out of shape) and its gotten too bad to deal with now.

  • HP Envy m6-1090ee (Left Hinge damaged)

    Hi
I had purchased a HP Envy m6-1090ee model laptop at Dubai on July 2012. The laptop looked really good, with attractive price. I purchased the laptop and started to have problems since day one.
    1. Excessive heat generation- since the air vents are the bottom face of the laptop and there is no way the hot air can vent out. I am expecting the laptop to have internal damages over a period of time.
    2. The left hinge connecting the screen and the keypad, has been  damaged. I am guessing this damage has been caused due to the excessive heat generation. Usally the left side of the laptop heats up much more than the right side. This has resulted in the outside of the screen face to open up while opening and closing the laptop. Thus exposing the internal components to further damage and heat.
My warranty has expired. HP has to do something about this, for its customer. Since I have seen similar complaints about this product.
    Thank you
    Alex Robert

Dear Advance 23.  I received an email to my personal address which told me that you had sent a private message on the HP Forum related to my Envy Sleekbook problem.  Actually, the "problem posting" you referenced was not my posting, although my problem was similar.  HP has taken care of my "seized hinge" problem to my total satisfaction.  I have not figured out how to go to my original posting so that I can mark it "Solved".  I have never understood how message boards work, so I am not surprised that I cannot find my original posting.  I am not sure that HP will take care of everyone with broken hinges in the same way they took care of me because I bought my laptop directly from HP, and it had been used very little with respect to opening and closing the hinges.  In any case, I am totally satisfied with the response I got from HP in resolving my issue.

  • Laptop ENVY hinge is broken

My Envy laptop hinge is broken. It happened just one week after warranty expired. I am so disappointed with the quality. I never drop it or misuse this laptop. I am a student and use it only for study.
When I search online, I found so many people face the same problem.
I trust HP's quality that's why I choose this laptop but......
What should I do now ? I really need a laptop for my homework.....

I have made inquiry for you.

    Hi,

  • Broken left hinge on pavilions M6

hi my daughters pavillion m6-1004saa has also just broken on the left hinge and it's pushing out the bezel for the screen. it seems this is an inherrent fault judging by all the other posts? could we have some help from 'jeff' please? hoping you can help as we only bought this in nov 2012, but it was from currys so we cant go back to the retailerhoping you can helplinda

Like many other owners of an HP Pavilion M6 notebooks I too have a broken left hinge and was quoted a large ammount of money to have it repaired. When it seems to be an inherent problem with their product as I have seen by the many complaints. This problem as far as I can see, HP have not offered to fix as an agreed fault but only if paid for by the customer, who's only mistake was to buy a faulty product.I have never dropped my Pavilion and always use a padded bag designed for notebooks and since all customer complaints regarding the hinge seem to be identical in the LEFT Hinge, HP should come to the party and repair them for free.As a well known saying goes here in Australia "Not Happy Jan ! " which was coined from a TV add and has now been added to our venacular.I will not buy HP again.

  • Broken left hinge on Spectre XT Ultrabook

I'm now one of the many HP users with a Spectre XT Ultrabook with a broken left hinge. Like most others in this forum, the laptop has been has never been carefully used and looked after but since the defect occurred out of warrantly HP won't offer support or replacement. Given the large number of people with this exact problem, it's CLEARLY a design nd/or manufacturing defect, so what are our options? Repair? Replacement? I desperately need this laptop for work...
