Envy 17 3D Demo Movie Disappeared

Have had the Envy 17 for 3 weeks. Have viewed the 3D Demo "Megamind" a couple of times with no problem. Now, if I try to launch the 3D Demo, SmartDVD starts, but the Available 3D Demos box appears, but is blank. Have tried to launch the demo from the 3D Demo Videos folder, but SmartDVD just asks for a disk to be inserted. Anyone have a solution? This appears to have happened after I updated the machine via HP's Support Assistant.

You need to get rid of Daemon Tools. it conflicts with HP Media Smart, use Virtual Clone instead.
First, create a manual Windows restore point before dong anything so you can at least get back to where you were.
Second, type in "regedit" in the search box with out the quotes and navigate to the SPTD file and note how you got there,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > System > CurrentControlSet > Services >sptd.
Third, go to the device manager and find Storage Controllers and expand that and there should be at least one that says Daemon Tools and/or Duplexsecure.
Fourth, uninstall Daemon Tools, I believe their site has a special tool to uninstall it correctly. Restart after uninstalling DT.
Now go back and repeat the second step and make sure that the SPTD drive is gone, if it's not, you will have to start in safe mode and right click to delete it.
Go back to step three and make sure that there are no storage controllers with those names on it. Uninstall them if they are present and restart. If there are any virtual drives left in the device manager, delete those as well and restart.
Go to computer now and make sure that there are no virtual drives present, there should be only one device with removable storage and that is your BD-ROM Drive and in almost all cases it's named "E", but what is important is that it be the first drive present in devices with removable storage.
Try your movie again.
We may have to reinstall MS DVD, but it may work without having too. If you need to reinstall it again, let me know as there is a procedure for this.
Post again and send a PM with the link of this thread if you still have problems.
Commodo Firewall also causes conflicts with MS DVD as well as AVG Anti Virus software.

Movies disappear from iPod when syncing with iTunes

I have an odd problem. I have some movies that I converted for iPod using iSquint. They play fine in iTunes and will play fine on iPod when dragged to my iPod manually. However, as soon as I change to automatic syncing the movies disappear upon the first sync. Any ideas?

Figured it all out. Somehow my video sync settings were reset in iPod preferences. Set it to sync all videos and voila - all of them converted using iSquint worked like a charm. The new instant handbrake works well too. And as a side note - movies look just fine on my tv via iPod! I'm very pleased.

Article says I can transfer movie rental from my PC to my iPad (1) and that it can only exist ion device at a time. I transferred the movie, it disappeared from my PC (in Rentals catregory), but never showed up on my iPad. What now?

Thanks for replying. I tried your solution also but it didn't help. Apple gave me a 2.99 credit to my account and told me to download it again. Next time I'll download it on the device I want to watch it on, so I won't have to worry about transferring it. Apple needs to make this whole process more user friendly. I am far, far from a novice, but I am a Windows guy, not a MAC guy. Even so, I felt like a novice user having to hunt and peck just to be able to try and transfer the movie. Once I did it, and I probably could not duplicate what I did because it was just luck, the movie disappeared. I was surprised they came back with a credit so quick. Thanks again.

Captivate movie disappeared

I was editing my Captivate movie and it disappeared as I was
working on it. I thought it was rather strange so I re-opened the
Captivate program and I opened the file I was working on when the
program crashed. I received an error telling me that the file
closed incorrectly the last time and would I like to repair it. I
clicked on yes and nothing happened. I tried opening the file again
and it shows the progress bar but does nothing else. When I look at
the saved file, the size is still the same, however, the captivate
program says there are 0 slides. The slides still seem to be there
though as I open a blank movie and import the movie and the movie
shows in the directory. When I click on it the slides open up and I
can see all 51 slides so I select All and click on Import but
nothing happens. This is very strange as I can see the slides but I
can't use them. Somebody Please Help.

I just experienced a very similar issue - my saved movie
"disappeared" after I published it. The title is there, size shows
as it was with all 80 slides, but when I open it, it shows just one
slide, blank.... Did you figure out what happened and how to
resolve it?..
This is very alarming, especially that it seems like this
error happens more than just once, although I had no problems with
my previous 20+ movies... This was the first one I made with audio
voice recording though.

First try a Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...

2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

Did you tap the Videos app icon?
Swipe left of your Home screen then type in the name of the movie.

I have had this problem but this is how I sorted it out: on your computer search the name of the film you have rented. When you see it, double click it and it should appear back in your iTunes library.

Movie disappeared from iPad? Help!

I put Les Miserables on my iPad yesterday and this morning I was playing around and I pressed the stop button. All of a sudden the whole movie disappears (deletes?) and I am no longer able to play it because it says I have no videos. I tried redownloading it from the itunes on my ipad, but it says I don't have enough local storage and so I tried syncing it back on to my ipad from the computer and it says that it couldn't be synced (I'm guessing it's because of storage.) So I went and checked my storage and it says I have 8.8 GB used, which confuses me because that was the amount I had with the movie on my ipad. Please help!

Did you try rebooting your iPad and then see if you can sync it back or download it again? Maybe if you reboot the iPad that will correct the storage reading internally.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up
One other thought .... When you are connected to iTunes .... Do you see a large amount of space being taken up by "Other" in the capacity bar at the bottom of the iTumes window?

After updating Apple TV to iOS 5.1, the option to purchase movies disappeared

Since september, 24, hours after I updated to iOS 5.1, the option to purchase movies disappeared from the system. It happened to all the countries in south america as far as I have tried changing stores within my Apple TV. The issue was recurrent with the late iOS as well, but changing the store to the United States and changing it back to Brazil seemed to solve the problem, and the option to buy movies would simply reappear. But now this solution isn't working anymore. When I change stores to the United States the option to purchase movies is there. When I change it back to Brazil, though, it disappears again. Anyone having the same problem?

After more than a month, the issue persists. I sent an email to Tim Cook reporting this. The day after I sent it, some one contacted me from Apple and said Apple's engineers would take a look at it. The person informed she would call back with more information about the problem. She called back the subsequently 3 weeks. Every time to inform that they were still looking into it. At one time, she said they could not reproduce the issue, and actually mentioned they could see the purchase option, which I know isn't possible, considering they did pay attention to the context of this particualr issue. The last time this person called, I just didn't want to deal with it anymore, it was the third week in a row the person was calling to say the same thing. I'm really fed up with it. I even bothered to make a movie reproducing the problem and uploaded it to YouTube, than sent the link to the person, so she could show it to whomever is responsible for fixing this. I thought it would solve the problem, since the person informed they couldn't see it. It has been more than one week since I sent it, and the person called again to inform they received the email with the link to the video. But I really don't think anyone watched it. I kept the video off the searchabel option on YouTube, so it can only be watched by people who receive the link to it. And the number of times it has been watched is very small, approximately the number of times I visited it. I am under the impression this isn't a defect at all. I have reasons to believe this might be deliberately happening. USA, UK and Australia still have the options to buy movies on the Apple TV's iOS. There is no problem at all with our Apple TV's or their servers. They just locked us out. It is just a shame, because now I am sure they are aware of te problem and just don't really wanna do something about it. I mean, how hard can it be for Apple to fix such a strange and suspiciously selective problem?! It is also a shame the fact that they make us waste so much time! Really disappointing. Don't even bother trying to contact iTunes Support, they tried to convince me it is a problem with the harware. And as you might have read two posts above, they tried to convince geoffreyy it has something to do with licensing agreements limitations to some countries, which is not true. You can still purchase the same movies using the iTunes Store on a Mac, iPhone or iPad. It just disappeared from the Apple TV. If you buy a movie using, let's say, your iPad, it will be availabel to watch on the Apple TV through iTunes in the cloud, under the purcahsed section of the movies section on your Apple TV. This and other things that Apple has been doing lately to secondary markets all around the world is what makes me feel really ****** about Apple. They just don't care...

Attempted to download a movie and movie disappears from library.

Attempted to download a movie, looks complete, but unable to sync to iPod... restart iTunes and movie disappears from library. No files in media folder and iTunes store thinks that it has been downloaded already. Worked with iTunes account people who were very responsive, but after multiple resends on their side, the problem continues and they suggest a local problem on my side. Thoughts?

HP Envy 4 1080-ex Sound disappear

I have a HP Envy 4 1080-ex Ultrabook, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, it is not under warranty.
Unfortunately the audio does not always work on my HP.
After starting my computer, I hear the check-in sound normally, after 1-2 minutes (sometimes 30-40 min.) all of the sound disappears. When I look at the volume mixer, I can not see the green bar rising and falling so I think there are not generated sound.
I checked everything in Control Panel, there are nothing disabled and there are everything all right (according to Troubleshooter).
But there are one thing what I noticed: Sound/Playback/ my IDT HighDef. Audio speakers properties/ Advanced -> TEST.
When I click at the test button, I can see a Windows message "The device is being used by another application"
I think that my system is up to date, because HP Support Assistant checked all of my drivers and these are up do date..
Today I checked my operation system, it is up do date as well.

Hello and welcome to the HP support forum and thank you for posting. First thing you would want to do is try a system restore back to when you know the sound was working. This will remove any updates and software changes that may have happened.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)
If that fails you can run the system back to the original settings by doing a system recovery.

Do downloaded movies disappear after one use?

I am so confused. I downloaded two movies to my 3rd Gen Ipod Nano, and each time after I watch the movie, they disappear from my selection screen. When I scroll to Movies it says "No Movies". They still show up on my computer though.
Do I have to go back and download them each time? When I connect the IPOD to the port to charge up, it automatically syncs. But no movies, and
This is my first MP3 player, and yes I REALLY am technically challenged. I bought the IPOD book by Scott Kelby, and while its very informative, it does not address this problem.

You have thirty (30) days after downloading a movie to begin viewing. Once you begin viewing, you have twenty-four (24) hours to view the movie (the “Viewing Period”). You may view the movie an unlimited number of times during the Viewing Period. Movies are not viewable after the thirty (30) day period. Stopping, pausing or restarting a movie does not extend the available time for viewing.

Purchased movies disappeared after update.

I updated to the latest version of iTunes and had to perform a restore of my iPhone. Once it restored I was able to retrieve my purchased music via iCloud but my purchased movies and tv shows in my iTunes account seem to have disappeared. What happened?
