Hi,
You can use your Recovery Discs/usb media to reinstall the OS on the new drive - if you haven't created this and your existing HDD still works, see the guide below to see if you can still create this.
Create Recovery Media - Windows 7.
If this isn't possible, you can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.
Order HP Recovery Discs.
If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

  • ENVY dv7t-7200 Replace hard drive and restore from recovery disk/flash drive

I am replacing the HDD on my ENVY dv7t, running Windows 8. The existing drive is a 5400 rpm 1TB and I am replacing with a 750GB Seagate momentus XT.  Largely, the reason is performance and I don't need that large of a drive.  The plan is to remove the old drive and replace it with the 750GB mentioned above.  I have the Recovery image on a 32G thumb drive, so the plan is to restore the image on the new drive.
Any issues that I should be aware of?  Will this work?

    Hi,
The dv7t-2000 is a CTO machine therefore I can't see its specs, I belive it has room for another HDD/SSD and you can utilize/utilise it. There are few known firmware problem with the 750GB Seagate momentus XT. Please check the firmware first (must be SD28 or later). Other than that should be fine.
    Regards.

  • Anyone ENVY M6 1117tx replace 750Gb HD with SSD?

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has replaced the 750GB HD with a SSD?
    Did it work?
    Better performance?
    What brand/size?
I was simply going to get a 128GB mssd, but the M6 has a limit of 32Gb. Which 32GB is rather useless.
    Regards.

Of course you can replace it. However, the problems will come when you want to try and move the contents from your current drive to the new SSd. There are 4 comps in my house, all use SSD. Wouldn't have it any other way.
You can buy a 256gb Samsung 840 for about $170.00, a good value for a good drive. Mushkin has good value too. Depending on where you are, you can get some good deals online.
I would suggest using a USB to SATA adapter to move your files to the new drive. If you read some other posts on this forum, you'll see that trying to use the recovery disc method gives poor results at best.

  • Hp Envy wifi card replacement

Hi,  I want to replace my wifi card which intel centrino 2230, can any one tell me which wifi card other then intel is compatable with my laptop. thanks

Changing the wifi card would change the MAC ID of the PC as well and that is why it would not be recomended.
However, you can add a wifi card that is of the miniPCI spec.
you can visit http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx and check if there are any cards compatible with you PC listed.
Just add the product number of your PC in the search box.
Changing the card on the PC would also void your warranty in case of a failure caused by the new card.
The easiest thing to do will be to just buy a USB wifi stick, these are very cheap and usually dont require drivers.

  • Why can't I connect my Macbook to this new printer? Downloaded from HP and Apple and disc. No

My HP Envy 120 died today after just 13 months. Bought the Envy 5530 to replace it. My Macbook running lion 10.7.9 cannot install the software from Apple, HP, or the disc drive. Please someone tell me what to do. it seems crazy that each site recommends the other for download. If the download wasn"t possible wouldn't they be gracious enough to give me error message. life is too short for all of this. Have installed ink cartriges, but will be taking back tomorrow if I can't get it to work. Need a printer! thank you so much for ANY help! Very grateful in advance.

  • Buying the right replacement power adapter for HP Envy

The original power adapter for my brother's HP Envy Touchsmart laptop has appears to have partially melted. I'm trying to find the correct adapter to use as a replacement, but I have questions because it looks like he will have to order one of the Smart adapters, which is not what he used originally. The product number is E0M27UA#ABA. If you need any more information just ask and I will try to post it as quickly as possible. Thank you in advance for any help you can give us.

  • Replacement screws for HP Envy j100

Hello. I seem to be missing two screws on the bottom panel of my HP Envy j100 notebook (purchased last year, October 2013). The screws that are missing are in the top left and top right corners (when looking at the keyboard from above). They are the screws that are next to each of the hinges and consequently, the plastic bottom of the laptop is loose. This is also causing the hinges to be loose and flimsy. They were not like this when I originally purchased the laptop. I would like to know where and how I can order some replacement screws for my Envy notebook.
    Thank you!

  • Envy 17i replace HDD with SSD

I just purchased a new Envy 17t quad core touch screen with a 1 TB HDD 5400 rpm. At the same time i purchased a new Samsung 840EVO 500 GB SSD with the intent of replacing the slower HDD with the faster SSD. I figured it would be an easy switch (I replaced the drive in my older laptop without any issues). I figured it would be a few screws and a small panel removed from the underneath the laptop and everything would be done.
But after I received the new machine, got everything setup and running and moved the information from the HDD to the SSD, I turned everything off and turned the machine over and alas… there are no panels (as described in the documentation) as I was expecting. It just one siingle piece!
How do I get to the HDD to replace it? Am I supposed to remove all the screws and remove the entire bottom or does the top (where the keyboard is) pop off and you have access through the top?
    Help!

  • HP Envy replacing HDD and warranty conditions

    Hi there,
I have an HP Envy 3012tx, I am looking to replace the hard drive that is in the laptop in the moment, however I have had some issues with the laptop so I want to ensure that this will not void my warranty.
Can someone please confirm that this will not void the warranty?
    Cheers

    Hi,
Under normal conditions, upgrading HDD and RAM would not void warranty.
    Hope this helps.

  • Replace HDD with SSD for HP ENVY 15t-j000 Quad Edition Notebook PC

I'd like to buy a HP ENVY 15t-j000 Quad Edition Notebook PC and a HP v300a 120GB SATA Solid State Drive with Upgrade Kit.
Now the SSD has a 7mm thickness.
My question is if I can replace the HDD with this SSD? How thick is the HDD bay in the laptop.
If it's more than 7mm will the SSD move inside it?
    Thanks
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
The old HDD on your machine is a bit thicker but with at least 4 screws I don't think new SSD will floating around in the case. I actually put new SSD in one of my laptop (not HP) and no problem BUT I don't move this laptop around. If needed, blue tac may help.
