Envy 17 3D Stereoscopic games?

I've been trying to find a stereoscopic game to play on the Envy 17 3d, but all stereoscopic games I've tried require nvidia hardware. Can anyone tell me what, if any, games support ati's stereoscopic features?
Thanks

Hi Xelloss,
First, it's a complete myth that stereoscopic 3D games require Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision drivers.  While games can be Nvidia "certified" this is mostly marketing and does not necessarily mean it's a superior 3D experience or limited to Nvidia solutions.  The visual quality may be excellent, but this isn't an Nvidia exclusive.  Most stereoscopic 3D drivers like DDD, iZ3D, and Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision work under the same principles.
To get Batman: Arkham Asylum to work, you need to turn the stereo functionality OFF in the game because this is Nvidia specific.  Once off, you should have more luck with other solutions.
I hope the moderators don't mind the website reference, but I think it will help.  Here is MTBS' review of the game with all three driver solutions: http://www.mtbs3d.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2758:Batman-Arkham-Asylum-S-3D-Re...
Here are beginniners guides for first time stereoscopic 3D gamers: http://www.mtbs3d.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=11389&Itemid=57
This is a user driven database of video games and their compatibility with different driver solutions: http://www.mtbs3d.com/m3ga
More work is being done on M3GA.  It would be good to see more submissions by TriDef users.

  • Games do not detect 740m, default to intel 4600 card (HP Envy Laptop)

If I uninstall the HD card, computer defaults to VGA... Will not run without the Intel Card, nor will the nVidia panel even open without it being activated. Then games only detect the Integrated Card, so there is no way to run the computer with just the nVidia card...
Skyrim, Mass Effect 1... None of my games detect the nVidia card.
I have tried fiddling with the nVidia panel forcing activation of the 740m. Games still do not recognize the card. Tried reinstalling everything - nothing.
I see this problem all over the internet, what worries me is that I see no solutions whatsoever.

  • HP Envy Game resolution problem

    Hi
I am having trouble with my Envy 17 after installing BlazBlue, I am having trouble with games resolution all games run perfectly fine but in a 640*480 resolution. Games that used to run perfectly in a full screen reso now only run in 640*480. Not long ago that I discovered if I connect the laptop to the HDTV Bravia I have all games run in full reso again. I tried uninstalling the drivers and restarting the laptop and reinstall the original drivers it didn't work. I tried installing the newest drivers in hope it will get fixed but it didn't. I am out of options ..... the only that I have in mind is to factory reset the laptop and im not even sure that will solve the problem... can someone help me please with a solution that might work?? thanks in advance.
I have these photos which I took that might help you recognize the problem better thanks again.
(without the HD cable being connected)

I just wanted to add that scaling options in the graphics properties can't be modified. I was messing around a bit with the options and I lowered my laptop's resolution to 800*600.
right click on desktop -->Screen Resolution --> Resolution 800*600
anyhow after doing that I went back to the scaling option in the graphic properties
right click on desktop --> "1st choice" graphics properties --> My Built-in Displays "you have to be in advance mode"
then I saw that the scaling options were changeable so I changed it from Preserve Aspect Ratio to Full Screen.
Apply the changes and got the problem fixed for some of the games. So its half fixed some games started running on full screen and some didn't... please any help? i've been suffering from this annoying problem for a month now.. thanks again people.

  • Can't start game on my HP Envy 15j

I recently purchased the game "World in Conflict" after just recieving my newly built laptop.   I downloaded game  successfully with no problems.  However, when I try to start the game it gives me an error message saying "Error: No appropriate 3d graphics card detected."
I went to the website http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/Requirements/world-in-conflict/10630?p=a and tried "can you run it" and I recieved this message-
"We could not determine your exact system so we can't tell if your computer can run this product. Please review the details below for further information regarding your system"
The "details below" refers to the system requirements to play the game which I have exceeded with my system.  I have the NVIDIA GeForce 740m, Intel HD Graphics 4600, an intel i7 processor, and 8 GB of RAM.  This should be more than sufficient in running this game.
How can I fix this problem?
    Thanks

    Hi Donkeg,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP ENVY 15j and conflicts running World in Conflict.  Taken from the minimum system requirements for World in Conflict - Supported OS: Windows Vista / Windows XP (only). I am sorry to say that.
    Thanks.

  • Hp envy 15 touchsmart q207tx games

when i bought my laptop ,it had  some kind of games ( inbuilt).i re installed tha os. now i want to install the above game pack.how can i download that games.

, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums.  It will depend on how you reloaded the operating system.  If you reinstalled the OS by disk then you have lost the game.  If you have ran a full system recovery then you should be able to load the game back.  Here is the link for a full system recovery. HP PCs - Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 8) Please post back with how you reinstalled the OS. Thanks again for the post and have a great day.

  • How do I delete Wild Tangent games from HP Envy laptop?

I'm trying to delete the Wild Tangent games from my laptop, but they won't delete. I already went into the Control Panel and deleted the Wild Tangent folder,  but the games are still there. In the uninstall program folder it says a bunch of apps, but I can't find HP games. Thank you.

I found I could uninstall them by going to the Program Files (x86) folder. Search for a folder with Wild Tangent in the name BUT DO NOT DELETE THIS FOLDER YET. Under that folder you will find a folder for each game. Run the uninstall program in each game folder. As you run the uninstall that folder will be deleted. Once all games have been uninstalled the Wild Tangent folder should be empty. You can now delete it. Hope this helps.

System:   Hp Envy 17  - Windows 8.1 - Intel Core i7  4700 MQ  CPU - Nvidia GE Force GT 740 M   Does anyone have a good quality controller they'd recommend.  A wired usb controller , with twin joysticks preferrebly I know it has to be able to run with Windows drivers, but I don't know a good brand to get .  I don't want to have to return one because it isn't compatible with laptop.  I see them advertised  but don't know which one has the better reviews. • Envy 700 060ea desktop pc crashing after short time playing games on it

ive only just had this pc for one day
but ive had pc for over 10 years so know a little about them,
now this said it should have come with a gtx 660 card but my one has got a gtx 760 card inside
turned it on done the updates and other installs,
then i installed steam and a few games i own to see how much better on this pc over my old one ,
the games boot up play fine for a 1 or 2 then i think its the graphic card crashing
but it reboots no warning or anything
so ive played with it a bit made sure all HP updates are installed and that i have
Geforce Experience  installed with the latest drivers for the graphic card gtx 760  331.93 driver
but as soon as i play a game with full settings on eg . HD 1980x1080,(just a update here its playing in any settings)
it crashes on every game i try and all do within the same sort of time
leading me to think its more a graphic card problem but ive tried everything on there site and the
    problem is still going on

    Born2, welcome to the forum.
I know that Steam normally updates the games, but has this been done to them.  Also, install all of the patches for your other games, as well.
I had the same problems with one of my computers when the games were not patched.

  • HP Envy 4-1215dx Sound Issues

Hi, I own an HP Envy 4-1215dx. It's a great unit overall, but I am having problems with the audio on it. From the day I took it out of the box it will randomly spew out quick bursts of buzzing/crackling/digital noise whenever I try and play some sort of media, it will appear to have stopped for a while but then start doing it again, it is quite intermitten. It does it with sound from the internet such as youtube, playing MP3's, and even in Games. It is extremely irritating and I need to find a solution. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers and have had no luck. Doing a quick google search, I found out that there are several other people with the same problem, yet the only answer they get back is to reinstall the drivers. I have done this already and it does not fix the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello Livingedge,
I understand that the driver is an older version. This is the version that is available for your specific product on the HP Driver & Software page. I have been able to locate a driver that is also IDT, but the release date is 2013-09-30. I have included that driver here for you 'IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver'.
If this driver fails to resolve the sound issue, I would keep an eye on the 'HP Driver & Software' page. This is where if and any updates are available, will be provided here.
    Thank you.

  • HP Envy 17 heat issues

Hi everyone! At the beginning of this year I bought a HP Envy 17 both for school and gaming, so far I've been pretty happy with it. However, the day before yesterday I bought Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, a game that my laptop should be able to handle pretty well. But when playing the game, the CPU reaches temperatures of 90-93C and the GPU seems to run steady at 91C. That's extremely hot, since I've been able to run Battlefield 3 and Crysis 3 running in the low 80C without issue.
Of course when I experienced this my first action was to clean up dust and debris from the vents (There was very little), but that didn't do anything major. Then I started lowering that settings of the game quite a bit, I went from high settings to low/medium settings as well as switching from DX11 to DX9, this didn't help either though. Then my last attempt was to close everything but the programs required to run the game, didn't help either.
So now I turn to you, the HP forum, for help. I figured if anyone knows how to fix it, it's you guys.

    Master,
So it sounds like you know what you are doing.
I have to ask the obvious:
Are you already running a cooler under that notebook?   This works when the system is doing its best and all else is equal.
    Commentary:
Should you have to run a cooler under a notebook for which you paid a bunch of money and you do not feel like it should be necessary?  Personal option and opinion.  I do not debate this particular issue with anyone.  I run a fancy cooler under a hot running dv7t Quad.  Works quite well, in fact.
If you are open to the idea, you can buy a cooler with lights, switches for on / off, fan speed control... you can opt to plug in your cooler to a powered hub so you do not have to run it directly off the notebook -- you do need to remember to turn the cooler on / off when it is connected this way -- you can stick a Hercules X-stand under the notebook between the cooler and the notebook for even more air circulation, and this way you don't even have to run the cooler as often since the notebook runs better with more air under it.
Just Google / search for any price range.  The better coolers will run you between $40 and $70 or so US.  You can get a cheap one that works for $20 US.   The Hercules X-stand is sold at Amazon.com and maybe some other places.  ??
    ====================================================================================
Your system is not running slow.. nonetheless, you might scan the following:
Fan Runs Constantly, the PC Notebook Operates Slower than Expected and Generates Heat
    ====================================================================================
If you have not already done so, you can try this setting.  Granted it is really for "performance" and NOT for heat generation.  Anything that is not spinning cycles is saving you heat, so in that sense, it is saving you both resource and heat:
    In Visual Settings Tab:
To turn OFF every Aero display enhancement:
Select "Adjust for best Performance" > OK
To turn OFF some display enhancements:
    Select "Custom"
And CHECK - UNCHECK those features you desire to use > OK
    ====================================================================================
    Good Luck!

  • HP Envy m6 Keyboard & TrackPad multitasking issues

I'm running on an HP Envy m6 Laptop, with 64 Bit Windows 8 Standard edition, straight out of Best Buy.
I've had this computer for nearly a year now. I honestly love everything about it, from the backlit keyboard to the i5 processor. But there's one thing I always have to work around that I can no longer stand about the thing.
As I am a slight gamer, sometimes i enjoy playing NFS, Minecraft, Assassin's Creed, and whatnot on my PC, I always have to connect a wireless mouse to my laptop, because if I press a key on the keyboard and try to make a gesture on the trackpad, one of the two actions won't work. e.g. if i press W (to go forward) and move my finger to the left (to look to the left in a game), it will only perform the walking forward motion, because it's not accepting both signals for some odd reason. I'd appreciate if an expert could assist me, I've looked through the Synaptics properties, mouse settings, etc. etc., and have had no success in fixing this issue.

  • Black Borders when playing games

    Hey,
so lately, I got a new HP Envy TouchSmart laptop. Everything is alright except: When I run games at a native ( 1920x1080p ) resolution, everything is fine. But when I lower down the resolution,  on my screen, black borders apear all around the sides. So this means, that it doesn't stretch. Altough, if I set the games mode to Borderless, it fixes the problem, but still it's anoying in some games.
I tried many ways to fix this ( which I found from the internet ) : Trying to lower the resolution in desktop and setting Scale On Fullscreen; updating the Intel drivers, downloading apps...
I really need help with this, as not all of the games have a Borderless mode ( eg. AC4 ).
    System Specifications:
    Intel i7 4702MQ @2.2ghz boost up to 3.2ghz
    Intel HD Graphics 4600 ( Integrated ) - Driver 10.18.10.3960
    Nvidia 750M  ( Dedicated )

Thanks for any information, I would really like to fix this
