Scanning pictures returns printer test page instead of jpeg as expected.

I see you are experiencing scan issues. I would like to help!
I would recommend checking to ensure there is no past alignments sheets on the scan glass from the setup, and perform a power reset. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

Really having problems with organising documents in pages. For example, deleting pages deletes the whole section and I cannot insert a section break as its greyed out & sending an object to background deletes several pages - what the **** is going on???

You can not insert a section break into a textbox.
You appear to have a lot of objects with wrap set, that once you take them out of the flow of text (by sending them to the background) causes the text to reflow and contract into fewer pages. Pages is almost unique in the way it forms up pages in Word Processing mode only so long as there is text on them.
I suspect you probably have hammered away at returns, spaces and tabs as well to position things, which only works to add to the mess.

PS There is quite a lot of programming in OSX that is far from "intuitive". Pages is easy at one level, when using the templates, otherwise it can be quite frustrating.

Printing problems with Pdf documents created with Pages

I upgraded to Acrobat 8.0 recently and for some reason when I save a Pages document to pdf, within the print options then try and print, it prints blank.
I have created other pdf documents which print OK, so the problem lies somewhere within Pages.
I didn't have the problem with Acrobat 7.0
ANy ideas

When you say "Acrobat", do you mean Adobe Acrobat Standard or Pro? Or do you mean Adobe Reader?
If it is Adobe Acrobat, I would go to the preflight option and see what information you get there. But no, I have not had the problem myself.

I'm currently using Firefox v4.0.1, which I like and am happy with, as it allows me to use my Kaspersky link filter and virtual keyboard.
Anyway, I recently decided to clean my registry and history using cc cleaner.. I did not back up as I had never experienced problems before. Once cc cleaner had finished and I opened Firefox I noticed that my two home page layouts had altered. The Supanet home page is now all disjointed, buttons are scattered to the left and right of the page, where once they where side by side, all of the images and text seem to be beneath each other and instead of one page i now have to scroll down and down to the full page, all text and image seem to be left margin.
On the google home page certain buttons are there but the text within has disappeared, although the buttons work, a search for Mail online through google..(or Supanet home page) is not a problem, however, once we arrive at the site it pretty much displays the info in the same layout/manner as the Supanet hompage. Further more certain buttons on other sites are no longer interactive..eg, Asda voucher print out. i do not wish to update to other version of firefox as i would lose Kaspersky buttons..so please help..I've tried everything..even re installing version 4.0.1..Help, I now it must be simple..but I'm not a techie!! Many thanks!

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

I am using iwork 09 on my Macbook and have a problem with all documents created in Pages, numbers and keynote. When I open and one of them every document that has ever been created, even attachements to emails that have long been deleted open up. Help!

If anyone can help with this I would be eternally grateful. I would like to be able to delete a document and not have it keep coming and asking me if I would like to save it. Even when I take the do not save option it still comes back. Is it me or the software?

You are probably correct. I tried all different variations to test it. As long as I quit each document separately, i.e., red dot it, I seem to bring up only one document after that whether I click on the document itself or open it within pages. The same is true with numbers.
Two more questions:
1) can you turn off the "resume" feature? If so, how? I could not find a way to do it.
2) why the "save a version" feature in pages? What happened to the old "save" and "save as" features?

Scan String Token Problem with leading Tokens

Hi, I'm using the scan string for token to read in a string of tokens that contain a leading "*" char in front of each string and terminates when the token index = -2. This works great if I have say *12345*1234 and so forth, but if there is bad data, say 1234 without the leading "*" in front, the token index return value is still -1 and it returns data which I read in thinking it found the "*". Maybe I shouldn't use the string for token function since it's probably just designed for ending tokens and not data with leading tokens. Is there a way to make this work properly or should I use another method to search for leading tokens in a string?

Here. Try this one. It does the same thing and uses exposed functions.
The string functions look for something to mark the end of a string. All languages that I know of do this. So, like I said, remove the first element. I recommend the Subarray function with the index set to 1 and length unwired.

Testing an app upgrade on my iPhone - problems with provisioning!

Hi everyone,
I have an app out in the app store which was released 9 months ago. I want to release an upgrade for the app, and have been trying to get my head around understanding provisioning profiles, etc. but unsuccessfully!
My first provisioning profile for App Version 1 has expired. I tried renewing it and then using it to send my test build to my iPhone. However, the OLD version of the app ended up installing into my phone and not the upgraded version, although the new project was loaded into Xcode at the time. I deleted this old version from the iPhone and tried again but each time, it seems that the old version keeps getting installed into the iPhone. I do not understand why this is happening - does this mean I have to create a NEW provisioning profile for the upgraded app?
I have to keep the App ID the same as the old app, right, as I read somewhere that this is how the Apple appstore keeps track of whether something is a brand new app or an upgraded version of an existing app.
I find Apple's documentation on these issues rather hard to come by, can anyone please throw some light on this issue? Thanks...!

PS: I have also added a new provisioning profile for this in the provisioning portal on Apple's developer website, and it keeps saying 'Pending'. It has been like this for at least 30 minutes now. Usually, I thought it was fairly instantaneous that I'd get a new provisioning profile. What gives? I also deleted the old expired profile. I've tried refreshing the page and it keeps saying Pending.

Problem with text size on search pages, too small, the rest of the computer is good

the text and the images on the computer is in a good size in general, but on search pages in Firefox is too small, sometime it starts larger and then turn small in a few seconds ..... on facebook page the text is ok in size. How can we increase the text size permanently?

Since switching to 4.0 when I send some pictures in gmail the recipients get the dreaded "red X" instead of the pictures embeded in the text

When I forward some emails by gmail the photos are not received by some of the recipients. This appears to have started when I upgraded to 4.0--no problems before then. Using Mac version.

Am still getting random red x's despite footage from a new project being scanned in.
Might rescan the footage but in the meantime here are the properties of all my clips:
Creator Quicktime Player
Vid Rate 25fps
Frame Size 1440 x 1080
Compressor Apple ProRes 422
Data Rate 12.7MB/sec
Pixel Aspect HD (1440x1080)
Field Dominance Upper (Odd)
Alpha None/Ignore
Composite Normal
A workaround I'm thinking of trying to save the hassle (I used the HDV-ProRes method of capturing) of recapturing the missing clips from the 4 tapes of footage I used is to:
1. Colorgrade the timeline in Color which features the red x's.
2. Send this timeline back to FCP with 2 second handles.
3. Identify the red x clips in my FCP timeline and bake these clips
4. Place the baked clips into their own sequence and colorgrade this timeline in Color
5. Send this timeline back to FCP with 0 second* handles.
6. Hopefully then I can take these graded 0 second handles clips and insert them into the existing graded timeline, in among the graded 2 second handles clips.
I will be sure not to attempt transitions between the 2 second handles clips and the 0 second handles clips. However, I'm hoping I will be able to create transitions between the 2 second handles clips despite the presence of newly incorporated 0 second handles clips in the timeline.
What do you guys think?

Can you lock "continued on page x" so it won't flow with text?

I have my text boxes linked and as I revise text everything moves. Is there a way to lock (continued of page X) from flowing with the text and stay in the appropriate text box?

I know I could use a separate text box but in this case, I haen't enuf room outside to main text box.

Make it a floating textbox at the position you need and give it wrap to push away the text in the main text body.

Why when resending emails on an iMac in Mail do I (and hundreds of others like me) get 'Missing plug-in' instead of the attachments being sent with the document?

It is high time that Apple solved the annoying issue regarding 'Missing Plug-ins' when resending emails with images embedded in them. It is infuriating to see so many users with similar problems and Apple NOT providing a 'fix' in some kind of software update! Why is it proving to be so difficult for this to be resolved by Apple, so that users do not have to rely on chat rooms for other users to try and fix the problem for themselves?

If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.
