Envy 6-1010ea Display cover broken

Hi ,
I have an Envy 6-1010ea for 5 months now and something has broken.
The display back cover has a plate in which the hinge is screwed onto. The plate is bonded onto the display cover and has come apart from the actual display cover causing the display only to be supported by one hinge and unabling me to close the laptop.
What can I do to get it repaired? I need it for uni and cannot spend much to repair it.

I read the thread. PC World Currys refused to fix it and I think that HP returned a laptop without fixing it too. I would contact HP customer support as PC World store assistants - customer support are not always competent at least from my experience and I do not buy anything from them at all. If users describe what's wrong and how many there are HP should understand and repair it for free as a design fault.

As titled, my dv5t's monitor display is broken(not the monitor).
I brought it in November, 2008.
I doesn't know whether the warrenty is still there, or even if it cover the cost.

Look for a 3rd party repair shop that can fix it in your area. It wouldn't be covered by warranty anyway.

How to edit/print photos marked with an icon displaying a broken rectagle?

I have been trying to print pictures displaying a broken rectangle. When I open up the pictures, they will not become clear on the screen and consequently I can not edit them. They seem to be missing the base part of the picture that must be lost in my computer. Thanks for the help. Debby

PSA SE does not store the picture files anywhere. It only catalogs what you have. If you deleted them from My Photos after importing into PSA SE, the image files are now lost [unless you have a backup or they are in the Recycle Bin].

Not sure what you mean by "procedure to replace." Ibook g3 Display Case Broken

My daughter accidentally knocked our computer off the table last night and the casing around the display is broken. Not cracked just coming apart now. The display works fine but I need to fix the casing. What is the best way to do this?

Which model is it (MHz rating and optical drive specs)?
There are two different types of case on the iBook G3 (Dual USB), so in order to find one that matches, we need to know which model it is.
Do you want to try this yourself? It's quite complicated, requiring nearly complete disassembly of the iBook to get to the display housing.

Do you use the MS Word editor as the graphical editor for smartforms? The old graphical editor is not unicode enabled.
You can activate the MS Word editor for smartforms and sapscipt via the report RSCPSETEDITOR. After this try again to enter te characters in the smartform editor and it should worrk ok.

How do I display cover art in Songs view?

I like how the other views look, but as far as I can tell they do not automatically continue to the next album/artist when the current finishes. (Artists => All Artists almost works, but when I press cmd-L it refines to the current artist which is not what I like.) So Songs view has the behavior I like, but is missing cover art.
Is it possible to display cover art in Songs view?

As a workaround, I created a smart playlist that includes all my music in the playlists view and then in that view I can show the artwork. Select: view/artist list.
Now I have two sidebars (the playlists, and artists)! Progress though, thanks.
EDIT: Whoops, this is not any better than the Artists view AFAIK (cmd-L still refines the view to just the current artist).

Envy 6-1010ea install to SSD

Does anyone know if it is possible to turn of the caching raid between the SSD and the HDD in the envy 6 ultrabook. I was wondering about installing a bigger ssd and installing windows on it? also as a side note the SSD on mine wasnt being fully used. I booted a linux disk management and the ssd appeared as partly used and the rest unallocated. is this right? Please help

It does appear that is normal behavior for not all of the caching drive to be used. At least, I haven't found any reports of 100% being used.

The cache drive is typically a smaller drive that doesn't occupy a standard hard drive bay. It is usually slotted into a slot directly on the motherboard since it is small enough to do so.
To the best of my knowledge, based on some research on the net, it would appear that cache SSDs are dedicated to caching which is why they are usually of a small capacity. This site goes into a little more detail in how SSD caching works. While it mentions Intel specifically, the underlying concept is pretty much the standard. The SSD cache drive is usually a mini PCIe format and not a SATA hard drive as a traditional storage hard drive is. Due to this non-SATA format, there could be some issues in using an mSATA as notebooks are really designed to work with SATA drives. This is not to say it is true for all notebooks as I do not have access to SSDs and all notebooks to verify this across the board. I do know there have been a lot of users that have had a lot of trouble getting SSDs not listed in the service manual to work.
The service and maintenance guide will list all the hard drives that have been confirmed to work with that particular series of notebooks. I recommend getting a SSD that is in that list to minimize the possibility of issues if anyone is planning on replacing the stanard HDD with a SSD.
Some users have had issues getting the recovery disks to work with the SSD to install the OEM copy of Windows it came with. For this scenario, the most success has been found with creating a hard drive image on the standard HDD and then restoring that hard drive image to the new SSD. This resulted in the system retaining all data and programs prior to the hard drive change for the users that had success with this method.
With that said, the Envy 6-1010ea guide lists all the hard drives it has been tested with on page 38. It also begins listing the removal and replacement instructions on that page as well. It looks like replacing the 32GB SSD this is equipped with can be a chore as it requires getting to the motherboard.

Thats exactly i was thinking too, I have a Envy 6, and it came with 32GB SSD, which isnt big enuff to run windows 7 i believe so i was thinking to buy a 128GB ssd and replace with it, possible ?
You should be able to replace the stock 32BB mSATA SSD with the 128GB mSATA SSD listed on page 38 of the service guide. This will require a lot of work to get it swapped out. Whether or not the caching setup will take over with the 128GB mSATA SSD is unknown to me. It could work like a standard hard drive if BIOS detects it as a hard drive. Again, I don't have access to this setup to confirm if it will or will not work.

Collapsible Menu using "Display Cover.swf"

I want to create a menu that will collapse and expand from the side of the Xcelsius model. I've been trying to figure this out using the "Display Cover (white).swf", flash file that comes with Xcelsius, but that is apparently not the way to go. Does anyone know how I can make the described menu in Xcelsius?

That particular file is an art remnant left over from older versions of Xcelsius. It was created in another program, not Xcelsius. Xcelsius components cannot slide back and forth like this. However, you can create a similar effect with a menu by doing the following:
1) Insert desired Menu component
2) Insert a button or icon component
3) Button: Labels = Show/Hide; Source Data: Off = 0, On = 1; Insert In: A1; Behavior - Default = On;
4) Menu: Behavior: DV: Display Status = A1; Key = 1; Entry Effect = Grow X First; Duration = 0.5
*Clicking the button on or off will determine if the menu is shown or hidden.
This will slide the menu out, but the menu will blink off. You could get more sophisticated with two icons (with or without image components for customization) set to show or hide based on whether the menu is shown or hidden. This should at least get you headed in the right direction.

Since the LCD screen has sustained physical damage, I recommend ordering a new screen for your computer. The spare part numbers can be found on the top of page 24 of the Maintenance and Service Guide.

REMOTE app on iPhone does not display Cover Art

I use the Apple REMOTE App on my iPhone to control my iTunes music library on a Mac. The REMOTE App controls the iTunes playback properly. However, the Cover Art for each song does not display on the "song" screen - showing the song currently playing. Across my iPhone screen (where the Cover Art should appear) are the words containing album of the song). The name of the song and album correctly appear at the top of the screen.
What is interesting is that when I hit the back arrow (left side top on song screen), all of the Cover Art appears in small thumbnails. The Cover Art also appears in other displays (for example, the currently-playing Album) using REMOTE on my iPhone. This means that the cover art is being transmitted to my iPhone - HOWEVER IT DOES NOT DISPLAY ON THE SONG SCREEN.
Can anyone kindly help me resolve this - because I would really like the Cover Art to display properly on the song screen. Thank you. Dale

Nezmo, This is really unbelievable. I have suffered from the issue I described for SEVERAL YEARS. Today, for some reason I decided to make this post on the Apple discussion board. And, today the issue was fixed by Apple. I just downloaded the update to the REMOTE app and the cover art now shows beautifully on my iPhone 6 plus. Thanks. Dale

hello. the glass on my iphone4 is cracked. so i just woundered if i can just change the glass or if i have to change the LCD aswell. the touch is working but not fine and there is no black dots or anyting in the display. and how much would it cost and could i do it myself if i can buy a new screen from you or do i have to send it to you for a reparaion.how much would it cost if you fixed it.

I just had my front iphone glass broken as well. I searched online there are two options one is through Apple for $199 and they give you another re-furbished or go through ifixit.com but they charge almost $140 and then your warranty is voided. So if you have applecare your best bet is to go through Apple and pay the $199.
I am on vacation and there is no apple store close by, so I went to ATT and they want me to buy another new phone for $599... I don't know what they are smoking.

MacBook Pro 15" Retina display was broken inside

My daughter has a MBP15" with retina display and she found retina display broken on the left bottom area inside without any damage of outside screen surface.
It looks like several burnts inside.
And she went to Apple store, but store employee told her that it was caused by my daughter's fault like inserted a kind of hard material and closed the display. So they asked almost > $700 to replace it.
So I am wondering how come a hard material made internal damage only without any minor scratch or crack outside???
Does anybody have any idea about this?

it could have been done by putting pressure on the top of the mac with it closed and no scratches or cracks would necessarily show up. I would ask your daughter again what happened. This isn't a manfacturer defect and is not covered under warranty.
