Envy X2: Sound Levels Very Low on Keyboard Headphone Jack ...

... much louder/OK on headphone jack on the tablet when disconnected from keyboard. Is there a fix ? I've loaded the latest audio drivers. Also, seems like Beats doesn't "kick in" even though it's checked as ON in the Beats control panel. I can click it on and off and tell a noticeable improvement as if Beats wasn't on at all even though it was checked.
Any ideas ?

Yeah the sound is defective, I have already bitched about it, they seem to not care, I don't think they can do anything about it, it's just designed not to have good sound or even decent sound,  the thing is to thin to allow for decent sound, they went for Form over function.
Also i think it uses a low cost horrible chipset, L2s Intel reltek Audio chipset, that would not be able to provide decent sound even in a full sized notebook, but  not that I would know they wont tell us anything.
It's a nice Prototype device that needed more work before it was sold, the only thing that lets it down badly is the sound in my Opinion, that and dieing on me just after 30 days of ownership, maybe I can swap it for something that works ????

  • Very low volume on headphone jack on MBP 13" but no red light

Hi I am looking for solution for my problem where in I am currently getting very low volume on headphone jack. There was no problem before, everything used to work perfectly fine.
I couldn't find comprehensive solution for this. Could anyone please point me to the correct thread if solution is already available.
    my details:
MBP 13" Snow leopard, 10.6.5 - First Gen. Unibody MAC.
problem: Very low volume when headphone is connected.
    Things: I have tried:
    1. Headphone is fine. Works correctly on windows PC and on my iphone.
    2. Tried system pref. volume is max.
    3. Upon connecting headphone to MBP it is detected as headphone.
    4. Tried Audio MIDI setup, settings seem to be correct 44.1KHz 2ch-16 bit
    5. There is NO red light from headphone jack.
6 Tried poking toothpicks in to audio out but didn't help.
7 Tried creating new temp. admin user account but headphone low volume remains.
    8. Tried safe boot - no joy.
9 Safe boot was followed by normal boot-> Ran Disk Util tried repair permission. No luck.
    10. Also followed steps to clear PR RAM etc. - problem remains.
    11. Heard about logic board replacement but don't want to go by that route.
Can anyone point me to correct thread or provide the solution..
    help is much appreciated.
    Thanks...

I have the exact same problem. i have  a macbook pro 13in (mid 2009) with extremely low volume coming from headphone jack. i brought the computer into my local apple store today and they diagnosed my problem as being the result of a faulty logic board. my laptop is out of warranty so they have to send it to the apple repair depot for 3-5 days. the charge is a flat $280 (tax not included). the solution seems extreme though and i hope i don't get any "kernel panicking" with a new board. i will update... also there is no accidental damge to my laptop whatsoever. the problem arrose 2-3wks ago

There is now a new line in BBM that wasn't there before which covers the message that I am typing, so I can't actually see what I am typing.
    Hi bunjamin,
just go to BlackBerry World, and update all your apps including BBM.

you can turn off the magnifying glass :
device settings >> accessibility >> magnify mode >> OFF
you can deactivate the "reset to Hub view" :
hub >> overflow (bottom right button) >> Settings >> Display and actions >> Return to Default View When Idle >> OFF

yes, BlackBerry has acknowledged this bug in this article from the public knowledge base:

  • I have hp620 its sound is very low although the volume is full.what should i do?

i have hp620 its sound is very low although the volume is full.what should i do??
    Please Help!!

There's a countless number of volumes on the iPhone.
The Main volume, On-Call volume, Music volume, Siri volume, Directions volume, etc. etc.
While On-Call with an individual or Voice Mail for example, make sure you're holding the up button to it's maximum.

  • The maximum SOUND level is low on iPad mini retina, compared to an iPhone 4s. Research shows this is a common problem for this model around the world. Has anyone succeeded in solving this issue? Many Thanks, Peter.

  • Sound is very low volume

I've done a search but can't seem to find any info re the sound volume on my bw G3. The sound out of both the front, built in speaker, and through the headphones, is very low volume output, almost but not quite muted. I've searched and adjusted the controls but to no avail. Could this be a hardware problem or software? There 'is' some movement when I adjust the volume slider but it takes the level from what would normally be 2 of 10 down to nothing. That is, there is no way for me to get the sound to levels that within normal limits. It's like the output is being blocked somehow but is still leaking through enough for me to make out the particular sound (song in this case) that I'm listening to.
Any help would be appreciated. It might not be worth puttiing any money into and I'd like to at least try.
    Michael

    Michael,
Sounds like you are ahead of the game on testing with headphones. External speakers would not make much of a difference without an amplifier.
"(is there another place to check sound output?)" If you had an AV output you could test sound out of that card. Finding a card might be cheaper than any repair bill and give you a definative answer on if their is a system software level problem.

These articles do not all address your model but give some perspective on software and hardware issues, including how just reseting the PRAM on some machines is the official Apple response.
If you go to the advanced search link at the top of the page and make a query for "no sound" you should get a response similar to this link:

  • Fast Track: guitar input level very low

I have a new M-Audio Fast track USB. I have set macbook pro audio input and output
to Fast track, and also set GB Preferences Audio/MIDI input and output to Fast track. Voice recording with XLR mic input is fine, but when I plug my Fender Tele
into the 1/4" jack with its volume on max, and GB recording level on max, the result is very low level... the GB waveform is almost imperceptible. Suggestions anyone?

09 wouldn't be any different it's the fast track. Many people have mentioned the low record levels with the fast track usb. Most of the time it is with mic not instrument. You could probably add some AU plugin to boost the recorded signal or turn the virtual amps. Or put a eq, compressor or some pedal that can add gain between the guitar and fast track.

  • Vibrate levels very low on iPhone 6

I just got the iPhone 6 (IOS 8.1.2). The vibrate alert level for this phone is very low. I previously had the iPhone 5 and it was loud enough, that I could "hear" it when it was vibrating (when placed on a table or in my pocket). With the iPhone 6, I am hardly able to feel it and when placed on a table, i can hardly hear it when it vibrate. I have played around with all the vibrate settings an even created a custom vibrate tone. This is a let-down with the iPhone-6

This is unacceptable. All the previous phones wanted to jump out of your hand. Had to laugh at the suggestions of some ( Must be Apple stock holders). Changing your ringtone back and forth is a pain, that's what the vibrating feature is for. Hard to believe this got past testing. Dear Apple, we, your customers, are NOT beta testers. This should not be an issue. Knowing it is likely a mechanical problem, I see no simple fix.

  • Speaker sound level unacceptably low

I love my thinkpad yoga 14. But It has about 10% of the volume of my 8 year old Dell Inspiron 14. In fact it has 10% of the volume of my smart phone, or Kindle HD or daughter's HDX. I have no "enhancements" or equalizer in my control panel. I do have the conexant "smart audio" and I've done everything I can do (removed earphone limit, etc.) but there is no EQ in my version to boost it. I cannot hear music or video over my own breathing. .. I've ordered a USB clip on speaker but this was nearly a two thousand dollar laptop and it doesn't seem rational that it has almost NO sound. Anyone have any similar experience??

I noticed that after both Firmware updates the sound level returned to 'normal'. But only for a few moments. Soon after the startup completed, it went back to the lower level. So I reckon it is a software thing and some update will resolve it. In the mean time, I just turn up the volume on my external speakers when listening music.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Bad Sound. Very low Volu

    Hello,
I'll start out by listing my system hardware. Additionally everything is up-to-date including BIOS, Drivers and Operating System
    MSI nForce 4 Ultra
    AMD Athlon 3000+
    2GB of RAM (4x52)
    Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
    Microsoft Windows XP SP2
I don't think the rest of the configuration settings are needed...
My problem is as follows. Recently after a restart I noticed that the sound was really low while watching a DVD. I turned up the volume not only on the computer but also the CreativeWorks THX 550 speaker system I have. I was then able to hear the sound; however it sounded like the volume was maxed on the computer, distorted, but the overall decibel volume was low. Of course I thought it was a connectivity issue. I tried many things. My first attempt was to check the cabling. My next step was to relocate the PCI Card. I disconnected and reconnected everything. My third attempt was to put it in a different computer... Here's the interesting part. I don't have any other PC's available at the moment only two linux boxes and a Mac. So I took an older sound card I had (Sound Blaster Li've) and plugged it into my PC. Same issue! The overall decibel volume was low, yet the sound was distorted as if the volume was to loud.
My next step went along the lines of testing sound on the board. I went into the BIOS and enabled my onboard sound card. That worked fine. I then reinstalled the Audigy Card. After installing I tried to see if sound was being processed correctly. Now I"m not an expert on this but I would assume sound passing through the card is emulated directly out through the Digital Out. I hooked it into my Digital Optical Recei'ver and everything worked find... That's not a solution. The Audigy has a little latency issue.
I've tried reinstalling drivers, changing my overclocking from off to full to dynamics in between. I'm at a lost here. One would think this is a PCI issue; perhaps maybe IRQ... But I doubt it.Message Edited by SIRKGM4vg on 07-29-200703:8 PM

First unistall Creative stuff through add remove programs.
Next run Guru3D driver sweeper and double check the log for failed removals.
Next uninstall Creative hardware in Windows device manager. (also tick "delete the driver software for this device")
After that, you should have deleted everything!
As for "the best drivers", both are (the same but) different and it depends on what you want to use your card for. Both work fine wth ALchemy and both get the job done.
daniel_k's latest drivers have equalizer, louder volume and advanced CMSS. daniel_K also has a few hybrid ISO with DVD audio, MIDI and other valuable applications. They don't always perform as they should though for obvious reasons (NO OFFICIAL CREATIVE VISTA SUPPORT - XP applications - No Hardware Audio).
nomoregoatsoup are just recent X-Fi drivers and a basic Creative Audio console. They offer improved sound quality over the official version and also offer limited DTS/SPDIF options like the Dell counterparts.
All current Audigy Vista drivers are inferior compared to XP ones.

  • Very Low volume from headphone output on iMac

Since upgrading my 2011 27" iMac to Yosemite, the sound output from the headphone jack has plummeted, to a point where I can hardly hear it through my external speakers. Before, it was deafening, now it is almost inaudible. Airplay output and the internal speakers seem unaffected. I have restarted, zapped the PRAM, checked Audio MIDI Setup, checked Sound Prefs, everything is turned up to the max, to no effect.
Any idea what might be happening here?

I also experience the same problem with my MacBook Pro 13" last gen. I haven't used my iPod's earphone with it for some time. I have noticed this problem since yesterday (4/6/2010). Beside resetting PRAM, repairing disk and its permission, plug and unplug the head jack, tried with different earphones, check the Audio Midi Setup; I also deleted all audio plist files in /Library and ~/Library folders (incase those preference files are corrupted). Those efforts fail to solve the problem.
Is this a problem caused by 10.6.3? I never have a problem while still using 10.6.2.

  • HT1481 My ipod's sound quality has changed and its sound's very low. How should I fix it?

    Dear sir,
My ipod once got formatted. Now I hear low sound from my ipod.

First, make sure your headphones are working properly.  You can try them with another device, or try a different set with your shuffle.
If the headphones are fine, go to the shuffle's Settings or Summary screen in iTunes.  It's the screen that appears when you select the shuffle in iTunes.  There is a Limit maximum volume setting there.  Make sure that slider bar did not get set to a low volume.
If that does not help, you can try doing a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes.  The Restore button is on the Settings or Summary screen in iTunes.  This will erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings.  If the cause is related to a problem with software or settings, the Restore should fix it.
If that does not help either, there may be a hardware-related problem on your shuffle.

  • Input level very low

Anyone else have trouble hearing or being heard with the MBP suing iChat?
I can barely hear the other person during a video chat. Or audio chat. And volume is all the way up on both of us. And they can barely hear me on their MacBook?
Playing iTunes is fine. iChat is so low it's almost unusable

    Hi music,
Go to System Preferences- Sound- and click on the Imput button. Make sure the slider for Imput volume is set where you prefer it.
