EoMPLS issue

Hi all,
I have seen a few questions posted on the forum about EoMPLS issues, but the one I have is different to those already posted and responded too.
I have attached a document which includes the topology, configurations and output from commands to show the problem.
Basically between the two PE routers concerned with the EoMPLS tunnel, I'm receiving labels for the VC from the egress PE, as well as the next hop label. However, the VC will not become active and the next-hop address (shown in one of the outputs) is stating it is an invalid address.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Harold,
Many thanks with your reply. Changing it from a VLAN-based EoMPLS configuration to a Port-Based EoMPLS configuration brought the VC up.
I was hoping on using VLAN based so I could try to do VLAN re-writing on the 6509. But not being classed as a router, I wasn't sure if this would even be possible anyway. Any suggestions on the best way to renumber the VLAN over an MPLS network? I'm work for the enterprise and this is a self managed MPLS network so either way the re-mapping of VLANs falls into my basket if we have to do it outside the MPLS network. It is just alot cleaner with MPLS...
Regards
Steve

  • EoMPLS MTU issue

    Hello,
I need help with EoMPLS issue. I know EoMPLS uses something like 1530 bytes MTU (due to the 1500bytes frame and all the encapsulations involved) and does not allow for fragmentation.
    I have the following scenario:
    CE-MetroRing-NPE-P-P-NPE-MetroRing-CE
    NPE-7600-Sup7203BXL
    P-GSR12006
When I send a ping of 1486bytes from the CE Router everything works ok, BUT When I increase the MTU to 1487bytes it stops working. So I have a 14-byte problem in the network.
The whole network has configured the "mpls mtu 9216" command on all the GE interfaces, BUT all the physical MTU are configured to support 1500Bytes, so here is my question:
Do I have to increase the Physical MTU on the GE interfaces to get this scenario working?
Also, in case I have to increase the MTU, does it mean that the network service is to be interrupted? (maybe OSPF flap becasue to MTU change or may be interface flap).
    Thanks!

But I have the MPLS MTU configured for 9216 bytes on all GE Interfaces "mpls mtu 9216"
I just saw while doing some troubleshooting the following:
    CE1-MetroRing-NPE1-P-P-NPE2-MetroRing-CE2
    Send a 1500bytes ping form CE1
issue a "show mpls l2t vc 101 detail" on NPE1 and see that the send packets increase the same number of pings I sent.
issue a "show interface ge-wan9/1" on NPE2 and see the same number of packets arrive as GIANTS and never get to their destination. The interface ge-wan 9/1 has the MPLS MTU increased to 9216, but the physical MTU fixed at 1500bytes.
I think that may be the interface as it dont see any MPLS frames (they dont have any labels) it treated as normal IP packets and drop them due to the size.
What could be causing this behavior?
    Thanks!

im afraid the answer here isnt that pleasent. Per VLan queueing in the fashion that you are trying to do is not supported. To do this you need to take a LAN port and loop it to a GE-WAN port (OSM blade). Then you do this kind of queueing on a sub interface on the WAN port. You have just ran into the same issue that i had a year back on the 7600's. Be aware that LAN ports can only offer basic queueing functionality and no more. To do anything fancy at all on the 7600 you always need to loop a lan port to a lan port (or just terminate your traffic onto a WAN port). Hope this helps this im sure it doesnt.

  • EoMPLS and L2TPv3

Good morning everyone.... I was wondering if someone could help me out with this?
I have setup a dev lab setup to test some stuff out before I go forward and move to production but I have hit a brick wall...

Also I Have a mac address table but the l2 MACs for the remote switches do not show up, arps for those ip addresses show up as incomplete as well.
I switched to EoMPLS and had the same issue.
What we are trying to do is setup a backup link for a server should a main link fail. the HQ Router should be able to terminate MANY L2 tunnels. Basically I see that the HQ_PE router almost like a switch and interface 1 will go to NY, int 2 will go to Chicago, int 3 will go to Dallas, etc. Since this is a backup connection we are trying to deploy it as cheaply as possible. We did this with a 4esw/9esw on the HQ router because it will support up to 15 or so sites that we want to do. The issue is that even when the xconnect line is added to the hwic it does not want to pass traffic. EoMPLS is the same thing.... Can anyone help me out? Also does anyone know if I went to a older ME-sw for the HQ if it would support the MPLS commands from the HQ router?
Also the l2tun and mpls all show up see below

  • Transparent layer 2 tunneling through EoMPLS on Nexus 7K

    Hello,
Does anyone know if the N7K supports transparent layer 2 tunneling of control traffic (CDP, STP and VTP) over EoMPLS? I'm unable to find exact info about this in Cisco's documentation.
    Here's the problem I'm having:
I have an EoMPLS virtual connect configured between a ME3600X switch and a Nexus 7K switch to extend layer 2 domain across two different sites. The virtual connect is up and running and passing traffic successfully between the CEs. However, I'm having problem with tunneling CDP traffic from the N7K end to the ME3600X end. CDP tunneling in the other way is working fine. i.e. CE1 connected to the N7K is able to see the other CE (CE2) in its CDP table; however, CE2 connected to the ME3600X is unable to see CE1 in its CDP table, which I believe is caused by the N7K not tunneling the CDP traffic through the EoMPLS VC properly.
    Below is the config:
    ! CE1 is connected to N7K port e3/28.
    ! CE2 is connected to ME3600X port g0/24.
    ! N7K:

    Folks,
    I have this issue resolved.
There were reported bugs in earlier version of code for the ME3600X which dropped MSTP and RSTP BPDU's.
Also there are 2 different use cases for using the L2protocol command:
1, When creating a service instance between 2 devices that supports the L2protocol command use L2protocol tunnel (ME3600 to ME3600)
2, When creating a service instance between a deice that supports the L2protcol command and another device that does not support the L2protocol command use L2protocol forward (ME3600 - 2911 or ME3600 to non Cisco device)
    I upgraded the s/w on the ME3600 to 15.3-2
Here is the working configuration between the ME3600 and the 2911
    PE1 (ME 3600X)
    int g0/1
    port-type nni
    switchport trunk allowed vlan none
    switchport mode tunk
    service instance 2 ethernet

  • EoMPLS PW

Guys I'm trying to make sense out of the attached Cisco Topology
My test environment consists of, various core (P)and distribution(PE) 7600?s (Sup720 without OSM, SIP-600, SPA). Access node consists of a Ethernet DSLAM (although kind of irrelevant at this point).
I?m focusing on layer 2 Access node ? Distribution (Active/backup) Redundancy (No aggregation layer) to two separate distribution PE?s. It seems as though its describing the classic triangular loop, completed by an inter-distribution EoMPLS PW. It then appears as if packets are been forwarded out of the layer 2 domain by an SVI on both distro?s, using HSRP as the floating gateway. The only issue is implementing PW on an interface and assigning an IP address. Unfortunately I cannot use VFI, though I?m not convinced this would help either. I cannot xconnect from an SVI either (due to restriction on non OSM, SPA modules). I?m guessing bridging using irb would be the only feasible solution (if it does work).
    1) Am I way off?
    2) Would VFI?s help in any way?
    3) What would you suggest?
Any information related to this would be extremely useful. Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,
In which mode your 7600 operates? to support MPLS features it should be either PFC3B or PFC3BXL. If you have any OSM module it will operate MPLS over OSM as long as the peer IP address is learned through WAN interface, though its not recommended.
SIP-600 for 7600 comes with 3BXL but if there is any module with DFC3A the system will operate with common denominator which is PFC3A . so you can't run MPLS.
Normally you cannot have both the IP and L2MPLS configuration on the same interface. and on 7600 we are restricted to one VLAN database, (i.e. even you configure routed ports you cannot reuse the same VLAN on two different physical ports under subinterface)
Since we have to create another EoMPLS tunnel to outside we have to emulate a bridge domain and therefore we have to use VPLS where we have to configure VFI.
If we have to configure any first-hop redundancy protocol where we can configure...?
    Rgds,
    Harin

  • EoMPLS Problem

Would like to seek your help to resolve one EoMPLS problem.
    My EoMPLS topology is-
    CE1[3640]---(FE)---PE1[7206VXR,NPE300]---(FE)---P1[3640]---(E1)---P2[7206VXR,NPE-G1]---PE2[7206VXR,NPE-G1]---(FE)---CE2[3640]
I had configure Ethernet over MPLS on subinterface between PE1 & PE2. P1 and P2 connected via E1 (Encap PPP). On LDP path, MTU is 1530. MPLS L2 VC is up, I can ping CE - CE upto ping size 1480 byte, but not able to transfer any file. In FTP session between CE-CE, can receive only file size upto 1024 byte. I had also try MTU 1560 on the LSP, but result is same.
If I use FastEthernet between P1 and P2, everything works fine with MTU 1530.
How to resolve the issue of the above topology?
    Rgds.
    Mesbah

    Hi Mesbah,
First lets agree that your core needs to accommodate the extra bytes added for labels allover the LSP, secondly are you filtering ICMP any where within your path. By default PMTUD is operational on Windows platforms, this means that all outbound TCP traffic will have the DF bit set, but if you are not filtering ICMP any where along your path thus PMTUD should work with no problem. One thing to note, the difference between Vista and XP regarding this issue is that Vista has a feature called PMTUBHDetect (Black Hole Router Detect) enabled by default (it can be manually enabled on XP, and more over SP3 enables it by default).

  • EoMPLS working ... rare behavior

    Hello all,
I have a basic EoMPLS scenario working just fine ... the topology I have is as follows:
    CPE-UPE-NPE-MPLS Core-NPE-UPE-CPE
When I configured the connection between the UPE and the CPE as an access port and I connect a traffic generator behind the CPE and start to push some traffic everything works fine... BUT when I configured the connection between the CPE and the UPE as a dot1q trunk and make the same test, it works for some minutes and then I lose connectivity between the CPE for 10 seconds (there is always a 10 sec failure).
I need the connection to be a dot1q trunk because the same port is going to deliver two VC to two different remote locations, and the CPE only has two FE ports.
For me it sounds like a buffer issue because it always has the same "no connectivity" time (about 10 seconds) and then it always works again without any action.
Does anybody know how is managed the buffers on a interface using dot1q? are they divided through all the subinterfaces?
Any other idea for this issue?
    Thanks in advance.
    Alex

The UPE is a Cat3550-24EMI, the NPE is a 7206VXR-NPE-G1.
The connection I have been trying is a Per-VLAN EoMPLS VC, it is not EWS or VPLS.
The configs on both NPEs involved:
    NPE (1):
    interface FastEthernet3/0
    no ip address
    duplex full
    speed 100
    no cdp enable
    interface FastEthernet3/0.116
    description VLAN-GREFORMA-GDLDR1-MTYDR2
    encapsulation dot1Q 116
    no cdp enable
    xconnect 200.52.1.40 116 encapsulation mpls
    NPE (2):
    interface FastEthernet2/1
    no ip address
    duplex full
    speed 100
    no cdp enable
    interface FastEthernet2/1.116
    description VLAN-GREFORMA-MTYDR2-GDLDR1
    encapsulation dot1Q 116
    no cdp enable
    xconnect 200.52.1.102 116 encapsulation mpls
    The UPE configs are attached
Let me know if you have any ideas:

  • VLAN-EoMPLS on CE Router

Pretty sure that I have EoMPLS using layer 2 VLAN between 2811/3825 PE routers configured correctly, but not able to figure out how to connect/-configure 2941 CE routers to connect to PE routers.
    CE-2941-to-PE-2811-to-PE-3825-to-CE-2941
is it because Cisco's 2941s do not support dot1Q encapsulation on any of the their 6 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces?
    thanks, kevin

    Hi Kevin
The Cisco MWR 2941 is a part of the Metro-Ethernet family switches which supports both Carrier-Ethernet and MPLS Services so there should not be any issue in connecting the same as a CE and use it for connecting via MPLS-PE routers to communicate to other Site via MPLS L2 VPN. What is the exact issue you are facing with.
    Thanks & Regards

  • QinQ EoMPLS

I have a SUP720(port based mpls) and a SUP2 (SVI based mpls.) I can get the VC to come up if I wanted to do one vlan accross my network.
I am having issues getting a port to trunk across my EoMPLS to a 7200 router.
Currently, I have a Flex-wan module for the SUP2 side, which supports this, but I am getting different views based off the QinQ.
    Any ideas?

No I kept the MTU at 1500.
What I mean by that is that it seems everyone is doing it slightly different from another.
I've been all over Cisco's site and I cannot find any clear definite way that other engineers are setting this up.
Also, it seems that this topic is considered part of two different departments at Cisco, so not one department is able to go over the entire setup because they either know MPLS or they know dot1q.
I just wish there was a document that was like, "this is what you need to do this."

  • New DVR Issues (First Run, Channel Switching, etc.)

I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to find answers through the search with no luck, so sorry if I missed something.
I recently switched to FIOS from RCN cable in New York.  I've gone through trying to setup my DVR and am running into issues and was hoping for some answers.
    1.  I setup two programs to record at 8PM, I was watching another channel at the time and only half paying attention.  Around 8:02 I noticed a message had popped up asking if I would like to switch channels to start recording.  I was expecting it to force it to switch like my old DVR, but in this case it didn't switch and I missed the first two minutes of one of the shows.  I typically leave my DVR on all day and just turn off the TV, this dual show handling will cause issues with that if I forget to turn off the DVR.  Is there a setting I can change that will force the DVR to choose one of the recording channels?
    2.  I setup all my recordings for "First Run" because I only want to see the new episodes.  One show I setup was The Daily Show on comedy central, which is shown weeknights at 11pm and repeated 3-4 times throughout the day.  My scheduled recordings is showing all these as planned recordings even though only the 11pm show is really "new".  Most of the shows I've setup are once a week so they aren't a problem, but this seems like it will quickly fill my DVR.  Any fixes?
    Thanks for the help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I came from RCN about a year ago.  Fios is different in several ways, not all of them desirable.  Here are several ways to get--and fix--unwanted recordings from a series recording setup.
    Some general principles.
Saving changes.  When you originally create a series with options, or if you go back to edit the options for an existing series, You MUST save the Series Options changes.  Pretty much everywhere else in the user interface, when you change an option, the change takes effect immediately--but not in Series Options.  Look at the Series Options window.  Look at the far right side.  There is a vertical "Save" bar, which you must navigate to and click OK on to actually save your changes.  Exiting the Series Options window without having first saved your changes loses all your attempted changes--immediately.
Default Series Options.  This is accessed  from [Menu]--DVR--Settings--Default Series Options.  This will bring up the series options that will automatically be applied to the creation of a NEW series. The options for every previously created series will not be affected by a subsequent modification of the Default Series Options.  You should set these options to the way you would like them to be for the majority of series recordings that you are likely to create.  Be sure to SAVE your changes.  This is what you will get when you select "Create Series Recording" from the Guide.  When creating a new series recording where you think that you may want options different from the default, select "Create Series with Options" instead.  Series Options can always be changed for any individual series set up later--but not for all series at once.
Non-series recordings.  With Fios you have no directly available options for these.  With RCN and most other DVRs, you can change the start and end times for individual episodes, including individual episodes that are also in a series.  With Fios, your workarounds are to create a series with options for a single program, then delete the series later;  change the series options if the program is already in a series, then undo the changes you made to the series options later; or schedule recordings of the preceding and/or following shows as needed.
And now, to the unwanted repeats.
First, make sure your series options for the specific series in question--and not just the series default options--include "First Run Only".  If not, fix that and SAVE.  Then check you results by viewing the current options using the Series Manager app under the DVR menu.
Second, and most annoying, the Guide can have repeat programs on your channel tagged as "New".  It happens.  Set the series option "Air Time" to "Selected Time".  To make this work correctly, you must have set up the original series recording after selecting the program in the Guide at the exact time of a first run showing (11pm, in your case), and not on a repeat entry in the Guide.  Then, even it The Daily Show is tagged as New for repeat showings, these will be ignored.
Third, another channel may air reruns of the program in your series recording, and the first showing of a rerun episode on the other channel may be tagged as "New".  These can be ignored in your series if you set the series option "Channel" to "Selected Channel".  Related to this, if there is both an SD and HD channel broadcasting you series program, you will record them both if the series option "Duplicates" is set to "Yes".  However, when the Channel option is set to "Selected Channel", the Duplicates Option is always effectively "No", regardless of what shows up on the options screen.
As for you missing two minutes,  I have sereral instances in which two programs start recording at the same time.  To the best of my recollection, whenever the warning message has appeared, ignoring it has not caused a loss of recording time.  You might have an older software version.  Newest is v.1.8.  Look at Menu--Settings--System Info.  Or, I might not have noticed the loss of minutes.  I regularly see up to a minute of previous programming at the start of a recording, or a few missing seconds at the beginning or end of a recording.  There are a lot of possibilities for that, but the DVR clock being incorrect is not one of them.  With RCN, the DVR clocks occasionally drifted off by as much as a minute and a half.

  • Pension issue Mid Month Leaving

Employee leaving date is 14.04.2010. system is picking pension amout as 541. Last year it was coming right.
    Please suggest.

    Dear Jayanti,
We required prorata basis pension in case of left employees and system is not doing this. This is the issue. As per our PF experts Pension amount should come on prorata basis for left employees in case they left mid of month.System is doing prorata basis last year but from this year it is deducting 541. I am giving two RT cases of different years.

  • Open PO Analysis - BW report issue

    Hello Friends
I constructed a query in BW in order to show Open Purchase Orders. We have custom DSO populated with standard
datasource 2lis_02_itm (Purcahse Order Item). In this DSO we mapped the field ELIKZ to the infoobject 0COMP_DEL
    (Delivery completed).
We loaded the data from ECC system for all POs and found the following issue for Stock Transport Purchase orders (DocType = UB).
We have a PO with 4 line items. For line items 10 and 20, Goods issued, Goods received and both the flags "Delivery
complete" and "Final delivery" checked. For line items 30 and 40, only delivery indicator note is issued for zero
quantity and Delivery complete flag is checked (Final delivery flag is not checked) in ECC system. For this PO, the
delivery completion indicator is not properly updated in the DSO for line items 30 and 40. The data looks like the
    following:
    DOC_NUM     DOC_ITEM       DOCTYPE     COMP_DEL
    650000001       10     UB        X
    650000001       20     UB        X
    650000001       30     UB
    650000001       40     UB
When we run the Open PO analysis report on BW side this PO is appearing in the report but the same is closed in ECC
    system.
Any help is appreciated in this regard.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi Priya and Reddy
       Thanks for your response.
Yes the indicator is checked in EKPO table for items 30 and 40 and delta is running regularly for more than 1 year and no issues with other POs. This is happening only for few POs of type Stock Transport (UB).
I already checked the changes in ME23N and the Delivery completed indicator was changed and it reflected in EKPO table. Further, i checked the PSA records for this PO and i am getting the records with the Delivery completed flag but when i update from PSA to DSO the delivery completed indicator is not updating properly.
In PSA, for item 30 i have the following entries. Record number 42 is capturing the value X for ELIKZ but after that i am getting two more records 43 and 44 with process key 10 and without X for ELIKZ. I think this is causing the problem.
Record No.    Doc.No.                    Item              Processkey         Rocancel     Elikz
        41               6500000001            30                    11                            X           ---
        42               6500000001            30                    11                            ---           X
        43               6500000001            30                    10                            X           ---
        44               6500000001            30                    10                            ---         ---

  • HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M602 driver issue

    Hello,
I've got issue with 600-series printers. We use the latest UPD drivrer ver. 61.175.1.18849 and print from XenApp 6.5. The error occurs every time when users try to print jpg files from XenApp session. It only happens with 600 series printers and UPD.
Also I've tried to assign native 600-series driver ver. 6.3.9600.16384 and it works good. But with that driver system says that it's color printer and it brokes our printing reports. These reports are very important for us. So we can't use printer and that driver as well.
Printer installed on Windows Server 2012 R2. All clients are Windows 7 x64. XenApp Servers are Server 2008R2.
Is it possible to get fixed UPD driver or correct native driver for Server 2012 R2?
    Regards,
    Anatoly

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at Printers - LaserJet.

Two issues here. CS5 Phoshop on Wind 7 64 bit.

    Free memory: 9577 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 10934 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 80 %

First issue is since the latest automatic Adobe update (why fix what isn't broken?) Every time I now exit Photoshop I get the message "Adobe QT Server has stoped working" and occasionally it happens when I exit bridge. Indesign is also behaving badly. I can no longer start a previous document from file manager without ID crashing out.
The other is the cursors in Clone and erase lose their edge (become invisable) for no reason - well not quite. Noise Ninja crashed Photoshop when I tried to use it. I reinstalled it and all is well. The cursor issue seems to be intermittant but came back (for no reason) after I reinstalled NN. I can't seem to change the cursor, no matter what I do. The problem is now seriously affecting how I work. Almost enough to go back to Win XP which ran CS5 Photoshop flawlessly.
Any help will be gratefully accepted.

Well, that issue is simply a matter of hitting the Caps Lock key.  When Caps Lock is on, you'll see the cursor outline, and when it is off you'll see a crosshair.  That's a feature, not a bug.
