EoMPLS with Catalyst 3750 Metro Switches

Hi,
I am trying to setup an EoMPLS tunnel (VLAN mode) between two 3750 Metro switches. But I am not getting the Status down from the both PEs.Also the 'show mpls l2transport binding' shows no output interface and no label stack is attached. Can anybody in the forum help me out? Is it any IOS related problem.
The IOS version is:c3750me-i5k91-mz.122-25.SEG1.bin
Thank you,

Hi,
can you provide the related config? Without this it is hard to tell anything.

  • Netflow on Cisco Catalyst 3750 Metro Series Switches

Does netflow possible in 3750 metro series?

    Hi Syed,
You have to first check if there is any image in switch or not so that you can manually boot from switch: prompt but as you said there is no image in the switch you have to go for xmodem procedure to upgrade the switch.
Have a look at this link and just follow step by step instructions and you will be good to go

  • URGENT: MPLS P/ PE support on 7600/Sup720-BXL and 3750 Metro switch

I'm need to design a MPLS network for a Cable Operator.
They will start small with some Cisco CMTS doing MPLS-PE and needing only two devices to aggregate these PE and delivering Services (Internet connection, VoD, ...) , so they will need to work has P/PE.
For that I want to know if it's possible to:
    1 - Use 3750 Metro and 7600/Sup720-BXL as P and PE
    2 - Who many customers (L2VPN/VLANs and/or L3VPN/VRF) can they support?
Searching in CCO I found these values/features but, need URGENT to check:
    1 - sup720-bxl supports P and PE but 3750 only PE?
2 - 3750 supports 1024 VLANs and 8,192 MPLS labels but no values on L3VPN/VRF?
SUP720 supports more than 1000 VRF?
Really need urgent HELP on this design/capabilities for these two devices.
    Thanks in advance,

before you even get anywhere close to the numbers of L2/L3 on a 7200 I would seriously consider asking what throughput you can get through a 7200 with MPLS, QOS, L3vpns and L2vpns configured. I have done this testing already but dont think it is appropriate to quote the figures publically.

  • 3750 Metro ethernet switch

    Folks,
I have 6500's at the core and want to use the 3750 at the PE. My question is the following:
    1) 3750 would do Q-IN-Q.
    2) Once the packet reaches the 6500(sup 720) running MPLS. What happens to the frame. Do i use xconnect to transfer the frame to the appropriate PE?
Just confussed about how does the PE use the Q-IN-Q information to direct it to the appropriate PE?
Sample config would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Cisco Catalyst 3750-X or 3560-X Series Switches

Recently, our company was deciding to buy Cisco switches, but they just tell the requirements and I finally focused on two kinds of switches, Cisco Catalyst
3750-X or 3560-XSeries Switches? Who can tell me, tnx in advance.

     As I read a blog recently, it listed the specific differences between Cisco 3750-X and 3560-X, except for the common features of Cisco 3750-X and 3560-X, Cisco 3750-X can also offer-- Cisco StackPower technology: An innovative feature and industry first for sharing power among stack members;
    Cisco StackWise Plus technology for ease of use and resiliency with 64 Gbps of throughput;
Investment protection with backward compatibility with all other models of Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series Switches.
And made a more detailed comparison between the two products, for ur reference.

    Hi Josh,
The Cisco Catalyst 3750 Metro Series is built for Metro Ethernet access in a customer location, enabling the delivery of more differentiated Metro Ethernet services. These switches feature bidirectional hierarchical QoS and Traffic Shaping, intelligent 802.1Q tunneling with class-of-service (CoS) mutation, VLAN translation, MPLS, EoMPLS, and Hierarchical Virtual Private LAN Service (H-VPLS) support, and redundant AC or DC power. They are ideal for service providers seeking to deliver profitable business services, such as Layer 2, Layer 3, and MPLS VPNs, in a variety of bandwidths and with different SLAs.
The metro switches have the PXF chips (which allow hierarchical QoS on the 2 "WAN" GigE ports, so several logical links can share a connection, and have soft bandwidth limits).

  • Imposible to deploy Ipv6 on lan with catalyst 2950t ?

Is it imposible to deploy Ipv6 on Lan enviroment with catalyst 2950T access switch?
    Thanks

[similar question was asked in "ask the expert" so posting the same answer here as well]
    - snip -
    Hello,
This is a common question which comes quite often – What should I do with my old Layer2 switches (e.g. Catalyst 2900, 3900, 5000, etc.)? The simple answer is; IPv6 is transparent on L2 switches so no need to worry about it. However; there are couple cases where you would need to take a closer look.
Rightly asked; one is MLD snooping. Yes, if you are planning to have real IPv6 Multicast deployment then you would need to have products which support MLD snooping at Layer2. If you are not deploying IPv6 Multicast then I would not worry about it much.
Another one is when you have intelligent services on WLAN; may be it’s not Catalyst switch but it’s a AP where you are running intelligent services such as QoS, or ingress ACLs on AP or maybe actual controller based environment where you have thin APs and fat controllers in the back-end, but you have a distributed policy at the edge, if you are doing this and using IPv4 based protocols then you have to make sure that those products supports equivalent configurations for IPv6 capabilities or you would have serious road blocks.
Simple “2 rules of thumb” which I always tell customers:
There is no way you put 10lbs of sugar in a 5lb bag.
Always have plan/testing/validation/pilot before introducing any new protocol/technology in your production network.
Please take a look at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps6537/ps6553/at_a_glance_c45-625859.pdf and lot of good information regarding Enterprise dual-stack case studies and recommendations at www.cisco.com/go/ipv6. I would recommend you to also work with your Cisco Account and Services teams for smooth Dual-Stack deployment.

  • Connecting LAP1231 using stacked pair of 3750's switch

I am trying to connect my LAP1231 to switch port on stack pair of 3750s that is connected to 6509 switch. When I look at the mac address table of the 6509 switch I don't see the mac address of my LAP. I have the switch port configured on the 3750 to right VLAN and set switchport host as well as switchport mode access. I have 27 other LAP access points connection and this is the only one I am having troubles with. Does anyone know of some issue with stacked 3750-24 switches running 12.2(25r)
    Thanks,

After I sent sumitted the posting I found my problem. I had added a VLAN list to the interface and forgotten I had done this. Once I added the VLAN to the list everything worked as advertised. Thanks for the response.

  • Trying to interconnect Catalyst 3750 with cwdm sfp module

    hi,
I try to interconnect 2 Catalyst 3750 switch use cwdm sfp fiber module.
If just plug in, there is no link between 2 switchs.
What's the procedure to make this?
    Thanks

you have 2 options with CWDM at the moment. the first option is to use any or all to the 8 wavelenght SFPs: CWDM-SFP-1470= (gray) thru CWDM-SFP-1610= (brown)
with passive multiplexers (MUX) as described here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps5455/products_data_sheet09186a00801a557c.html
    or
In the off chance you have only a single strand of fiber available, you would choose:
1000BASE-BX10-D AND 1000BASE-BX10-U SFP FOR SINGLE-FIBER BIDIRECTIONAL APPLICATIONS
    as described here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps5455/products_data_sheet0900aecd8033f885.html
Overall, CWDM is a cost effective method of building a Metro-Ethernet LAN / SAN by providing a single pair of single mode fiber the ability to support 8 wavelengths. You can mix and match these wavelengths with 1Gb Ethernet or 2Gb FiberChannel as needed.

  • 3750 metro series switch does not support dot1q trunking?

I have a 3750 metro series switch and i am trying to use it to do inter vlan routing. I do not see an option for "encapsulation dot1q" under sub interface?? why is it not supported??
    Thanks

    Narvin,
if you want inter-vlan routing, the interface Vlan nn itself specify vlan.I think you confuse with router subinterface where you must specify what Vlan a subinterface must use ( and encaps type ). Encaps type ( dot1q or ISL ) is used at trunk level, and whatever trunk use you can do intervlan routing using vlan interface.
