EOS Utility does not recognize 7D on Mac OS x 10.5.8

I am borrowing a 7D from a friend for a photo shoot. I want to teether the camera to the computer in order to control the camera without touching it. I installed EOS Utility and updated it to its newest version. The problem arise when I connect the camera to the computer. I get the message: "Camera is not recognized." I tried both USB ports and three different USB cables and nothing seems to work. Has anyone dealt with this issue. Thanks!

  • Disk Utility does not recognize internal HD

    Hello community!
I am a computer lab assistant (all iMacs) for my work and am troubleshooting a problem as follows:
    Specs:
    Mac A:
    OS X 10.8
2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 processor
    4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory (2 slots x 2 GB in use, 2 slots empty)
    27-inch Mid-2011 iMac
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512MB
The problem is that Disk Utility does not always recognize the internal HD on mac A. In fact, only once it showed up recently and that was after a couple of restarts. Programs run very slowly and are not very responsive.
    Troubleshooting steps taken thus far:
    1. restarted mac A in internet recovery mode and ran Apple Hardware Test about 8 times (quick test 4 times and extended test 4 times). Every time it hangs indefinitely on the memory check.
    2. Installed and ran memtest in single user mode (mac A) with arguments "all 2" to run the test twice. All tests passed.
    3. Started up mac A in Target Disk Mode and booted mac B via firewire. Everything runs fine (fast), but disk utility installed on mac A's HD does not recognize any HD (neither firewire nor internal).
    4. Started up mac B in target disk mode and booted mac A via firewire. Everything runs fine (fast). Disk Utility on mac B's HD recognizes both firewire HD (of mac B) and internal HD (of mac A). Disk Utility verify and repair completed on mac A's internal HD. Everything OK.
I'm unsure how to proceed. I assume the RAM on mac A is fine because it runs mac B's HD via firewire very fast (it handled opening all the apps on the doc simultaneously relatively well). I assume mac A's HD is fine because via firewire it shows up in disk utility and runs very fast on mac B. I just don't understand why Mac A's HD won't work well on mac A. Could it be a loose SATA connection between the HD and the logic board? Would that cause these symptoms?
    Thanks for any input.

I ran Data Rescue 3 by Prosoft and it returned the following graph:
In case you can't see the stats, that green spike is up to 30,000 msec in readtime for the HD. The smaller spikes before and after it are at about 2,000 - 3,000 msec. The threshold (red line) is a recommendation: persistant read times above the red line (about 1,000 msec)  could indicate a problem with the HD according to the program. I guess it's time to see about replacing the HD.
    Thanks.

  • Mac Air does not recognize ISO file, Mac Pro does

    Hi All,
My MacBook Air, i5, with OSX 10.9.4 and Bootcamp 5.1.2(484) does not recognize the Windows 7 ISO image, while my dad's Mac Book Pro, 10.1, i7 with OSX 10.9.4 and Bootcamp 5.1.2(484)...does recognize the Windows 7 ISO image...
We tried two different Windows 7 ISO images
When we start from a fresh boot , the 1st error is "Not a Windows 7 image", and when we retry we get "Not a 64 bit Windows 7 version.
    What are we doing wrong?

  • Airport utility does not recognize base station

My airport utility (5.5.3) does not recognize my base station or express after changing internet providers (moved to ATTUverse). I know the network works (recognized by wireless devices). Everytime I do a "rescan" nothing appears. Running OS 10.72 on Core 2 Duo iMac; all software up-to-date; restarted all devices. Help

It sounds like you may have an older version of the AirPort Express.
Please look on the side of the device in the faint print to locate the model number. It will start with an "A" followed by four numbers......as in A x x x x.
If you could post back with that information, we will know more about how to answer your question.

  • Windows 7 airport utility does not recognize my airport extreme

My iphone connects to my airport extreme and the airport utility sees it. So does my ipad and my friends laptop.
When I use wifi or wired connection (to lan port) from Windows 7 laptop to my airport extreme. The airport utility does not "see the extreme.
    I've uninstalled/reinstalled the following:
    - bonjour
    - airport utility
    - itunes.
I've wasted 3 hours on this.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.....

    UPDATE
    * I located the IP address and admin password of the airport extreme and was able to log into to the (File / configure other) airport extreme.
    I believe it's a W7 bonjour issue.
As you can see in my attachments, Bonjour is installed however msconfig running services show it as stopped. I can't get it to start.
** How can I force bonjour to start? **
Here are my replies to your recommended steps:
What version extreme are you talking about? Actual model A1xxx from the base is a big help.
    - I forgot to check this
Step 1.. Ping.. Ping is your most important tool to find things on a network.
Open a command window and type ping 10.0.1.1 (or whatever is the current IP of the extreme).
    - Yes, I can ping it.
    Please turn off all firewalls.
    - Yes, firewall is off
Make sure the win7 is not in homegroup.
    - done.
Make sure win7 is set to home.. not work or public for location of the network.
    - done.
Step 2. .. This assumes you now have ping response.
In whatever airport utility you like, reset the extreme to use all SMB names.
    - WHERE do I make these changes?

  • Disk utility does not recognize internal drive

iMac Core 2 Duo previously running Mountain Lion OSX quit recognizing the internal 1 GB boot hard drive. Have attempted repair with Disk Utility but Verify says that the drive is fine yet it will not boot. Can boot from an external USB drive running latest version of Mavericks. Have also tested internal drive using latest version of TechTool Pro 7 but without success. TechTool Pro recognizes the external USB boot drive but does not visualize the internal drive. Cannot visualize internal drive to erase and reformat.
Any suggestions for visualization of internal drive and repair? Or is this likely a dead Apple internal HD?

While booted from your external drive or boot from the Recovery Drive, run Repair Drive in Disk Utility.
Boot into the Recovery Drive by holding down Command R when restarting.
    Run Repair Drive
It sounds like the internal drive might be dead. If you replace, I suggest SSD drive. They are really fast.
    Under About this Mac,
    Open System Profiler > Hardware
Copy the Serial number and model identifier. You can use this info to shop for a new drive.
Go to this site and check out their drive prices and videos to see if you can do the install yourself.

  • 10.8 System Image Utility does not recognize anything 10.7 or below

I just installed Mountain Lion  server and was excited to start using system restore to make images of some Lion Minis we have. However, SIU 10.8 does not seem to recognize a 10.7 volume. I tried booting the machine I planned to image in target disk mode and I tried making an image using disk utility and mounting it. Neither worked. Can someone please confirm or deny whether this works. If 10.8 Server SIU does not support older verisons (If you can really call Lion that much older for **** sake). It willbe infuriating to me if this can't be done because this would just be another example of Apple taking a good idea and just royally tanking on the execution side.
I did go ahead and install Server Admin tools on one of the other Lion minis and am making a Netrestore image of the master mini as we speak; so far so good. But I am skeptical of whether my Mountain Lion Server will even accept and deploy this image considering my less than stellar experience so far.
Any thoughts, suggestions, shared frustrations are all appreciated.

SIU has never supported anything but the OS that it comes on. So you need Server running on Mountain Lion to build Mountain Lion images, and Server running on Lion to build Lion images - etc for Snow Leopard, and Leopard, and Tiger...

  • Utility does not recognize airport express

my wifi works normally but the utility is unable to recognize the airport express

I do not see a menu in the airport utility, but there is a tool bar.
The menus.....like File, Window, Edit, Help, etc are all located where menus are normally located.....at the very top of the computer screen. It sounds like you are looking at the AirPort Utility window in the middle of the screen.
Did you power off the restart both the PC and the AirPort Express? If you have done this, and the AirPort Express does not appear when you open AirPort Utility, then more troubleshooting will be required.
If AirPort Utility on your PC is communicating with the AirPort Express, the window in the center of the screen will look similar to  this when AirPort Utility is first opened, except that you will see a listing for the AirPort Express:

  • Disk Utility does not recognize ethernet external drive

I recently purchased a lacie ethernet external drive 1.5Tb to use with time machine and need to partition it. I mount the drive and open up disk utility, but it does not show up there. Any suggestions?

You cannot partition and format a drive over the network. You will need to connect the drives directly to your computer first in order to partition and format them (unless that's already been done at the factory.) Read the documentation that came with them product or contact LaCie's tech support.

  • Disk Utility Does Not Recognize External Burner

I have had recent problems with errors in the burning process with idvd 5.
I have no problem making a disk image, so I can burn using disk utility. The problem is that disk utility only recognizes my internal drive and not the external LaCie d2 burner. The burner is listed in the system profile, idvd recognizes it ok, Toast recognizes it ok, but the disk utility doesn't.
I need to burn on dvd+r so that I can use Lightscribe, but the internal burner only takes dvd-r. I also would like to burn the dvd with the menu from the idvd program which is not there if I burn using Toast.
So, how can I get my disk utility to burn onto an external drive?

    Does this help?

  • The AirPort Utility does not recognize and show the basestation until I reboot my laptop.

I have an issue doing changes to my just recently bought Airport Extreme basestation through Airport Utility (the latest version).
Wireless connection is perfect but my Airport Utility cannot recognise the basestation until I reboot my laptop. Then everything works find until the next time.
Normally I put my laptop to hibernate mode when I am not using it. When I activate it again and start Airport Utility I cannot see the basestation unless I reboot my laptop.
    Can anyone help me!

In order for the AirPort Utility to "find" the base station, it requires certain ports open on your Win7 laptop's software firewall. It may be possible when the laptop goes into hibernation mode, that these ports cannot be opened when the laptop "awakes" ... and thus, why you find yourself having to restart it.
I would recommend temporarily disabling the Win7 software firewall. Let let laptop go into hibernation or "force" it to go into hibernation, and then, see if you can access the base station through the utility after it awakes.

  • Disk Utility Does not recognize Seagate 3T USB Drive

I recently purchased a Seagate 3T SATA drive and installed it in an external enclosure with a USB connection.  The drive appear to spin up but Disk Utility under OS 10.9.4.   Am I missing something or are drives this big not supported by Apple's Disk Utility in Mavericks?

Call Seagate help - as you may have run a reconfiguration for Mac.
Or - it could be a firmware issue.
Anyway if you are in the return period and can't get it working - return it.

  • Safari 4.03 won't install -does not recognize 10.6 was installed

I installed Snow Leopard and then tried to update Safari. The install utility does not recognize I installed 10.6. The error message: "Safari can't be installed on this disk. This update requires Mac OS 10.5.8 or newer".

    Hi,
You need to install Safari from the SL disk.
Insert the Snow Leopard install disk. Open the Optional Installs folder, then open Optional Installs.mpkg
An Installer will start... click Continue. When you get to the Installation Type in the window on the right you will see: Applications. Click the Disclosure triangle so it faces down. Select the apps you want to install and click Continue.
After any installations, repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
    Safari runs in 32-bit mode.

  • Snow Leopard Installer does not recognize Hard drive in disk utility.

I first at the suggestion of apple technicians because of other problems erased and partitioned hard drive. Now when I go to reinstall Snow Leopard it does not recognize the Macintosh Hard Drive, not even in disk utility. Any help will be greatly appreciate.

To make sure we understand everything correctly, you are saying that when you start up from the Snow Leopard DVD & run its copy of Disk Utility from the Utilities menu, it shows only the DVD installer disc itself in the list on the left of Disk Utility's window? There is nothing else there?
Also, what are you booted from when you try to make an image of the installer DVD, the DVD itself or something else? Are you using Disk Utility or something else to make the image?
This seems very weird for sure. If you were running from some hard disk copy of the OS, I would suspect that its copy of Disk Utility or some OS support file was corrupted, but if you are doing this from the DVD that is extremely unlikely unless the DVD itself is physically damaged.
Apart from that, pretty much the only thing left is a damaged hard drive or other hardware failure in your Mac.
