EP 6.0 and NW2004S BI

Hello Experts,
I am using Iveiw wizard in EP 6.0 to create iviews for displaying queries onto EP.
In the Iview, i am specifying Query =  'BW Query name'.
Instead of a query, is there anyway to display BW Workbook into EP ?
Regards,
Ravindra

Hi,
you can publish workbooks in portal. You can give link of the orkbook but it will for BEx froont end. Rather you can use broadcaster to execute a workbook and can place the workbook in KM folders.
Hope this helps  you..

  • NW04 and NW2004s Preview on same machine possible?

    Hi everybody,
has anyone managed to have both NW04 preview (ABAP) and NW2004s Preview (ABAP) installed on the same machine? Is it possible at all?
I would like to have both systems installed on my laptop and be able to start one of the servers at a time only (both would be installed but only one server running at a time).
Difficulties I see would be wether you actually install two different versions of the maxdb server (NW04-> MaxDB 7.5, NW2004s -> MaxDB 7.6) on the same machine and the fact that both sys-ids used for the preview edition are "NSP".
Currently I am running the NW2004s system inside a virtual machine, but this obviously has significant impact on the performance.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you very much,
    Jakob Thilo

    Do the same i did.
I've installed a sw of virtual machine (VMWARE) created a virtual machine and then installed the NW2004s in it.
Then i make the connection between host and the virtual machine. I've installed the sapgui on the host machine et voilà
I have a P4 3ghz with 1gb of ram and i use it to develop WD for abap application. I don't have any problem of speed.
    Bye
    Andrea
    Pls reward if it helps

    <b>NW04</b>
NW04 is a 'Java version' which means we can develop applications using Java and export them to portal.
WEB Applications server (AS) supports Java API’s and can be integrated with NW Developer Studio developed by SAP. Studio supports application development in java, testing/debugging.
Third party JVM is added to NW04 to run support java functionality.
    <b>NW04S</b>
SAP NW2004s is the mySAP Business Suite edition of SAP NW 2004.it is a minor release that delivers on specific needs of the mySAP and xApps solutions delivered by SAP in 2005. The "s" stands for "mySAP Business Suite Edition".
As in NW04, third part JVM is used to support Java stack.
Few of the New capabilities in NW2004s
Developing a web based user interface with WebDynPro fro ABAP
    Enhancements to enabling B2B processes
    Enhancements to business task management
    Enhancements to business planning
    Enhancements to enterprise data warehousing
    Mass setup of mobile devices
    Implementing a global portal
NW04s is a ‘ABAP version’. Here you can develop ABAP reports and transactions and export them to portal. There you can create iViews using them.
Netweaver 04S, includes both the ABAP and Java stacks.
The Sneak preview for NW04s is only for the ABAP stack, and the Sneak Preview NW04 SP15 is only the java stack.
If you are using the sneak preview for ABAP, you can develop WDA applications and BSP applications; they run directly in the engine, not in a portal. But they can be embedded in an iView in some portal.
You don't have to have a portal to run your application. If you are using the java side, you can develop WDJ applications and JSP applications. Same applies here, they run on the java engine, not in a portal, but can be embedded into an iView which runs on the portal. But you don't need a portal for your application to run.
The portal is just a front end UI; the apps themselves run on the underlying engine, whether it’s ABAP or JAVA.
    Hope that helps

  • Integration between ECC PDF document and NW2004s portal ...

I am hoping someone can point me to some documentation to do the following ...  I have an adobe forms pdf document in SAP ECC.  I can pull up the PDF file in ECC and it looks fine.  How do I create a request from a NW2004s EP7 SPS15 portal that will display the PDF on the portal?
We have installed Adobe Document Services (ADS) and I have tested all the connections and everything appears to be configured correctly.
I don't know how to make the call from the portal and have the PDF file that I can generate in ECC display on the portal.
Any help will be appreciated!   Thanks.

    Hi Angie,
If you have the PDF doc, you can upload that into the KM repository and create a KM document iview.

    Hello,
I recommend you to take a look at the "Product Availability Matrix":
    http://service.ap.com/pam
It will give you the most current information.
For example, NW2004s has kernel 700 and it only supports <b>Oracle 10g</b> ( that means that the information from Ben is <u>not totally correct</u> )
    NW2004 supports <b>Oracle 10g and 9i</b>

  • ADS Interactive Forms and NW2004s Sneak Preview - Credentials

    Hi everybody,
I have recently installed the Sneak Preview of NW 2004s SPS07 which comes with Adobe Interactive Forms.
Trying to use an Interactive Form in an Web Dynpro App I keep getting an Exception saying
Could not retrieve a password for credential: ReaderRights
Can I used Interactive Forms without the Credentials file?
Is there any way to obtain a credentials file for the Sneak Preview (no by applying for one as a SAP customer)
Thanks in advance and kind regards,
    Andreas

    Hello Andreas,
The credential file is available on downloads page from where you downloaded the Sneak Preview. Just scroll down to the requirements section.

  • Why ERP2005 and NW2004s have overlaps?

Both of them have DI, PI, MI, BI, EP and Application Sharing Server (Optional Standalone Unit).
Actually we see that NW04s is a subset of ERP2005SR1.
Could anybody explain why SAP wants to have them
    separated?
And also for customers how to decide which one to
    implement?
    Thanks!

    hi,
    my guess:
NW is a platform (not only for ERP but for all
    SAP's products - older, newer)...
I don't think that having an XI (PI)
on the same machine as ERP and BI and EP
would be a very good idea (not only from the performance point of view)
but it's just my guess about SAP's policy:)

  • Question about upgrading ECC 6.0 to EHP 4 and NW 7.0 to EHP 1

    Hi All,
I have read articles about installing Enhancement Packs. How ever I am a little confused.
We are currently on ECC 6.0 and NW2004s. For Portal also we are on Nw2004s (EP 7.0 SP 16)
We want to install EHP4 for our ECC system. Do we have to install EHP1 for our NW side? Does this mean we need to upgrade our portal also to EHP 1?
Also, do we need to update our ESS and MSS business packages also?
I have an OSS note open about a VC issue. They have recommended us to upgrade to SP 18. if we install EHP 1 on Portal, do we still need to upgrade to SP 18 or all previous SPs are included in EHP1?
I really appreciate your help on this. If you can refer me to some docs which give more detail on EHP 1 for NW, I will greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks in Advance

  • Installing NW Workplace and applying J2E trial license, is that possible ??

    Hello,
Can I download the (5-6 files) SAP NW Developer Workplace 7.0 SR3 from marketplace (I have access), including NWDS and the J2EE+Portal that comes with it ,
and then, Apply the Trial "J2E" license to the J2ee server so I can keep working/learning beyond 30 days ?
    Thanks in advance.
PS: Asking this, since that Java trial download link does not work.
Also, how long does it really take to fix that..come on.. !!!!!thisispathetic!!!!!

  • Problems with F4 Value Help in NW2004s Portal

    Hello,
we are having some troubles with the F4 ValueHelp Extension from the Advanced BSP Programming book (and the blogs of course).
We've implemented the solution on a 4.7 backend and portal 6.0. No problems there, everything was working fine.
We now moved to erp2005 (WebAS 700) and NW2004s Portal (7.0).
The popup shows and I can select entries from the list. But when clicking the ok icon a javascript error is thrown stating that 'parent.document.getElementById(...)' is null or no object.
I think the problem is, that by making a call to 'parent' we are searching in the portal frame and not the BSP. There (in the portal frame) the element is not known so the error is thrown.
I allready changed from the dialog_ie6.js provided on the BookCD to the one delivered by SAP. Did nothing regarding the error.
I also tried changing ZCL_BSP_M_INPUT_HELP->BUILD_ACCEPT_SELECTION_SCRIPT. I changed all the "parent.document.get..." "to document.get...". The error message was still the same, 'parent.document.getElementById(...)' is null or no object.
So now I'm kind of stuck. If I try the example outside the portal everything works as expected. So this clearly seems to be a problem with the portal integration. All involved BSP-Apps are marked as "supports portal integration".
    Any ideas on this topic?
    Thanks and kind regards,
    Alexander Sperling

I have a working solution to the problem.  It isn't the nicest solution because it will probably require some modifications to the application that hosts the value help, but we will get to that in a second.
I tried many different ways to come up with a solution that would still work via JavaScript. The portal is now loading the popup javascript in the master frame.  It registers event handlers so that if any application triggers a popup internally it "hi-jacks" the event.  So regardless of what I change in the BSP javascript library, it gets overriden by the portal one. The portal also now even enforeces its theme on the inner page in the popup.  Truly the portal takes complete control over the inner html of the popup.
To make things worse the popop has not path to reach the source that triggered it.  The source objects are tracked in the javascript, but because the master frame takes over; the popup window only has access and visibility to the master frame and the navigation frame.  In essence in the DOM it is now higher in the stack than the object that actually triggered it.
Web Dynpro gets around this because it doesn't use any client side mechanisms to communicate it results back to the source frame. Web Dynpro has the luxury of always being stateful and therefore can make certain assumptions that would never work in BSP.  The hi-jacking is an excellent solution for Web Dynpro.  The portal can then override the functionality of Web Dynpro - providing the new functionality of floating the dialog box over the entire portal - without having to make any changes to the Web Dynpro Framework.  However they never had our little BSP solution in bind obviously.
It might be possible to completely rewrite the popup_ie.js and popup_ns.js to use all different event, method and variable names.  This separate version could then provide complete separation from the portal script. However this is just a theory. I'm afraid that I wouldn't have the bandwidth to rewrite the entire script right now so I focused on a quicker solution.
The only approach that I could come up was to follow the Web Dynpro approach and return to the server with the value. To do that I used Portal Eventing.  Portal Eventing allows us to pass a value to the source frame regaurdless of our relative positions in the DOM.
In my inner BSP application for the value help (ZES_VALUEHELP), I made the following change in the model method BUILD_ACCEPT_SEL_SCRIPT_V2.  At line 141 I changed the logic.  Instead of using JavaScript to write the selected value back into the source element, we will just trigger a Portal Event:
****With an InputField we write the contents directly back into the element
          ELSE.
            CONCATENATE me->js_close1
            `portalFireEvent('com.sap','`
            me->element_id
            `',"`
            key
            `");`
             INTO me->js_close1.
            EXIT.
The other change is within the Element handler class for inputHelpV2 - ZCL_ES_BSP_ELMNT_INPUT_HELP_V2.  We need to register the listener for the Portal Event. Therefore in DO_AT_BEGINNING we will add the follwing at line 23 (right after we place the Element Id into the URL Parameters Table.
data: portal_event type ref to cl_portal_event.
      portal_event = cl_portal_event=>factory(
        name = <wa_params>-value
        namespace = 'com.sap' ).
      while m_page_context->element_process( element = portal_event ) = co_element_continue.
      endwhile. "End portalEvent Render
Overally using the portal eventing actually is an intersting approach.  There is only one drawback, now we have a server side event.  That being the case, our application now needs some event logic to process this event and populate the value. Depending upon if you are using MVC, Data Binding, or Flow Logic this could vary - and would have to handled by each application. The nice thing about the old approach was that it all happened via JavaScript on the Frontend and didn't require the application programmer to do anything - that was obviously its weakness as well.

  • ECC 5.0 and EP7.0 SP9 compatible

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to implement ESS and MSS on ERP2004 and NW2004s SP09 (EP7.0) SP09. are the versions supported? where can i find the respective XSS component versions for EP7.0 SP9?
to implement the BPs ESS 60.2, the online documentation says.
    Primary Backend System
    SAP - ERP 2004
    Portal Release
    NetWeaver '04 (SP Stack 03 and higher), <b>NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) (SP Stack 04 and higher)</b>
    iView Runtime Technology:
Java / WebDynpro (WAS 6.40 and higher)

Thanks for sharing that note Rajendra, it's a very helpful one to have on hand.
I'm going to reiterate my point here because these things should be carefully considered and blindly going with the latest version of things isn't always the right strategy.
Ask what it is about EP7 that you really MUST have that is not available in EP6? As per my earlier note, it is generally best to stick to the platform made for your release.
Also, for setting up the development environment, whatever version you end up going with you can use the 04s version of NWDI (Strongly suggest 64bit here so you can allocate 2 or 3gb of memory to the node) for development but you will need the 04 version of NWDS for developing. This is due to the recommendation to develop using tools from the same product release of your development. I'm not sure how this fits if you use EP7.0.

  • BW 3.5 frontend with SAP GUI 6.20 and 6.40 on BI 7.0

    Hi,
My question was raised after I read the BIFAQ, where it is stated:
<i><b>Which BW 3.5 front-end versions can I use on top of NetWeaver BI 2004s?</b>
You can use SAP GUI 6.20 with the latest BW 3.5 front-end patch to work with an SAP NetWeaver 2004s System (only BW 3.5 front-end functionality).
You can also use SAP GUI 6.40 Comp 4 or higher and BW 3.5 front-end ('BW Add-in') (only BW 3.5 front-end functionality).
SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI front-end is installed separately ('BI Add-in' on the installation CD).
    </i>
    Question:
<b><u>Is the BW 3.5 frontend (with GUI 6.20) identical to the BW 3.5 frontend add-on (with GUI 6.40)?</u></b>
    Thxs.
    LauQ

    Hi,
I think they are identical, the very difference is between 3.5 tools and NW2004s tools.
