• EP 6.20 SP2 Patch 35 - Installation Error

hi,
We are in the process of upgrading our development Enterprise Portal (EP 6.0, Oracle 9.2.04) up to the latest support packs and patch levels.
We have successfully installed: -
SDM Patch 14
SAP Java Libs 20
J2ee Patch 34
However, EP 6.20 SP2 Patch 35 (current patch level is 4 hotfix 5) is giving the following error when attempting to install:
ERROR 2005-09-21 15:15:35
MUT-02041 t_installJ2eeEngines.selectRow(WHERE J2EE_INSTANCE_DESCRIPTION='System: PDN1 (instance 00)') returned 2 rows, not 1!
Could anyone advise if they have experienced this error before? If so, how was it resolved?
Thanks

Managed to resolve this.
SAP provided the following fix: -
In the SAPInst temp directory on the first excution of the patch "keydb.xml" will be created.
Search for string -

There you will find
<row>
<fld name="J2EE_INSTANCE_NUMBER">
<strval>00
</strval>
</fld>
<fld name="J2EE_IS_WEBAS_INSTANCE">
<strval>NO
</strval>
<fld name="SystemName">
<strval>PDN1
</strval>
</fld>
</row>
The <row> element is repeated twice. Delete the second <row> element and rerun the patch installation and it should run through.

Hey Nicolas

Hi All,
SAP Support finally came through for us on this.
The issue is due to the version of the SAP JVM that comes bundled with BOXI 4 SP2 Patches 11 and 12.
If you download the latest version of the SAP JVM from the SAP support portal and install this instead then the problems are resolved.
Thanks,

• EP 6.0 SP2 Patch 27????

Hi,
just released in the service market place: patch 27 for EP 6.0 SP2. This is getting VERY confusing. See sapnote 774779 for details. The documentation they refer to is not yet available, but I would like to hear from SAP where this sudden re-numbering comes from! Are the portal patches now somehow related to the J2EE patch level?
Anyone?

Naming Convention
Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP2 patches now have an improved naming convention. From this version on, portal patches are to be aligned with those of J2EE 6.20 and of Knowledge Management & Collaboration. It is, therefore, recommend that when upgrading your system to J2EE patch level XY, you also upgrade the portal to Patch XY.
One-Time Closing of the Gap
For the upcoming release of EP 6.0, the patch is designated as Patch 27, despite the fact that the previous patch was Patch 5. This one-time step aligns the patch numbering of the portal with that of J2EE Engine. Portal will not have patches 6-26.
Alignment with J2EE in Future Releases
The availability of future portal patches will be coordinated with that of J2EE Engine. Patches are expected every 5 weeks.
Improvement: Accumulation
From now on, portal patches will be cumulative. Each future patch will include all the fixes provided with previous patches, going back to and including portal Patch 5. In other words, the current patch (27) includes the fixes provided with Patch 5, which was released a few weeks ago. Hence: - If your installation is currently up-to-date with Patch 4, you can directly install the latest patch. - If your installation is not yet updated up to Patch 4, you must install Patch 4 first, and then you can continue to the latest patch available. Make sure that you upgrade to Patch 4 according to the instructions in the guide Installing Patch 4 for EP 6.0 SP2 since Patch 4 and its preceding patches are not cumulative.

• Enhancements made in EP6 SP2 patches 28 & 29.

What are the enhancements made in EP6 SP2 patches 28 & 29.
What I mean to say is that what are the new features added in Patches 28 & 29. here I exclude Bug fixes.
I can go to the central note for patch 28 : 793582 and can get a list of notes which indicate bug fixes done in Patch 28
Similar way, I can go to the central note for patch 29 : 803871 and can get a list of notes which indicate bug fixes done in Patch 29
What I am really concerned is regarding new features added in these two patches (Patch 28 & 29) separately.
Are there any new features added in these two Patch releases. If yes, Where are they documented.
Are they documented separately or their respective guides are updated.
Your help is really appreciated.

Hi Robert, hi Suneel,
> Patch 28 & 29 are not listed there yet.
Not quite right, Robert, I don't know what a dreadfully old version you have looked on... It is listed, but it is explicitely said that both patches, 28 & 29, have
"no new features or enhancements to existing functionality. It is cumulative as of Patch 5. Please refer to Patch 5 and Patch 27 documentation for information about previous enhancements."
The document is retrievable without access to service.sap.com: http://help.sap.com/download/documentation/netweaver/ep/FeaturesEP6SP2Patches_v2.5.pdf
It's a pity that SAP publishes the version name within the link, so if a new version exists, one has to know (or to look via service.sap.com).
Hope it helps

• Slow Performance BI Launch Pad - BI 4 SP2 patch 8

Hi experts, i have this seriuos problem: i have installed BI 4 SP2 patch 8 on windows server 2008 server based on 12 GB Ram but when tree user access at the same time at BI Launch Pad, the server has an lowering performance and to access in BI Launc pad is necessary attend long time.
Could you help me? Are there some configuration parameters to set?
Thank's a lot.
Andrea

This is what I received from SAP:
- It is a bug in the BI 4.0 product and an ADAPT01711291 has
been raised for the same.
- Please go through the attached KBA '1933935 - BI Launchpad search
failing with error "The property with ID SI_CUID does not exist in the
object" for non-Admin users' for more information.
- As per the ADAPT details, it is targeted to be fixed in BI 4.0 SP10
which is scheduled to release in July 2014 week 30
- The schedule is subject is to change without prior notice. You can
regularly check the SAP BusinessObjects maintenance schedule on the
following link on SAP service marketplace
SAP Support portal -> Software Downloads ->SAP Software Download
Center -> Support Packages and Patches -> SAP Support Package stacks
- You are using BI 4.1 SP2 and I did not find information about
inclusion of fix of this issue in release notes of latest Service
packs of BI 4.1 (SP3 or SP4)
- So as per my knowledge you will have to wait for BI 4.0 SP 10 to
release and the releases of BI 4.1 post to that will have the fix of
this issue.

• SAP-BO BI 4.0 SP2 (Patch 7)...?

Setting-up a new "Sandbox" server later this week on Windows Server 2008 (R2) - 64 bit OS.
It looks like the current version I should be deploying is SAP-BO BI 4.0 SP2 Patch 7.
Do I need to apply Patch 7 - or should I just use the regular SAP-BO BI 4.0 SP2 baseline for this Sandbox...?
Normally, we only install full SERVICE PACK levels - not PATCH LEVELS.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Hi Mark,
You would need to install SP2 first followed by Patch 2.7, or Patch 2.8 which is due out today or tomorrow.
If you can wait then you could also align with Feature Pack 3 which is the equivalent of SP3, but that is planned for Q1 2012
The following blog link also details SAP's patching policy.
http://blogs.sap.com/analytics/2011/10/07/sap-businessobjects-bi-release-plan-update/
I hope this is a very helpful answer to you.

Hi Prasanth,
so then perhaps that Patch 6 will not solve it:(
I am running BI 4.0 on NW 7.3 WAS. The problem is that somehow I do not see the Build version updated (for Patch6) in CMC Settings after redeployment. What build version do you have under CMC on Patch 6?

• EP6 SP2 Patch 4: Default Framework for innerpage corrupt

Hi,
we just installed Patch 4 and Hotfix 5 in a cluster environment on Unix. Everything went (almost) fine (eg. the SAPInst installer started the portal as user root which produced some error after our restart, but we could fix that).
The only "interesting" problem we had was, that the default framework for the portal (which is needed for the innerpage) was corrupt (or at least if we open this framework in the portal we can see only the narrow section of the framework -- and not the "narrow - wide" layout as it should be; the effect was, that all content of the innerpage was displayed in a very small area).
This was no real problem for us since we were already using a modified layout, but it still would be interesting to know if anybody else experienced this kind of behavior and perhaps knows a fix for that. I looked through the OSS notes, but couldn't find anything.
Best regards,
Holger.

Did you find a resolution for this behavior?

• Upgrade EP 6.0 SP2 Patch 4 Hotfix 6 - PL 28 (J2EE, EP, KMC)

Hello,
we have a productive SAP Enterprise portal environment in the version:
- J2EE cluster 6,20 PL 24 (84596.20)
- EP 6,0 SP2 PL 4 Hotfix 6 - 6.0.2.4.6
- cm & Collaboration - 6.0.2.4.2
- SDM PL 12 - 1.3/6.2020030912164144.0000
On the last maintenance weekend we tried to upgrade the whole productive environment to the Patchlevel 28.
For this we proceeded after the installation guides of the SAP.
As follows:
- Upgrade the SDM to PL 14. -> Successfully upgrade !
- Upgrade the J2EE 6.20 Cluster to PL 28 directly -> Successfully upgrade on both Servernodes !
Now our problem:
With the Upgrade of the portal of version 6.0.2.4.6 directly on version PL 28 (after installation
guidance: Installing Patch 28 for Enterprise portal 6,0 SP2) it looks like, as if the Upgrade
would successfully have gone through!
With access to the portal over a Webbrowser the portal cannot be opened. We receive the following
error message:
Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing a request for :
iView : N/A
Component Name : N/A
The object found is not an IView: pcd:portal_content/henkel/framework/iviews/com.henkel.AnonPortalLauncher.
Exception id: 05:40_20/03/05_0010
See the details for the exception ID in the log file
With another access of the standard Login site, this side appears, but after the Login only a white empty side appears.
->
http://ntep006.de.henkelgroup.net:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.navigation.portallauncher.default
Because the Patchlevel 28 doesn´t function we went back to the old version ! - Therefore it is not possible now to reproduce the error on the both cluster servers.
For this reason we have the Server-Console-Logs and the sapinst-Folder for the PL28-Upgrade attached. The State-Controller and Dispatcher started without problems.
Important point to the end:
Our J2EE server (State, Dispatcher & Application-Node-> Server) is started and stopped over NT services.
With the Upgrade of the portal to PL 28 a DOS window opened ! - This window contained, that the Upgrade program tried to start the go.bat of the dispatcher.
- Could this be the error?
- Must we configure the system in such a way that the J2EE services is not started over NT services ? Must it started over the standard variant -> go.bat.
I hope anybody could help me ?
Ralf

ok ! - I think that we will then install in this way.
Another question:
A colleague said to me that the problem could be, because in the go.bat the parameter: Xms%MEMORY% would be
missing? In his environment this parameter is set !
Here the go.bat from me dispatcher with the problems:
@echo off
set PATH=..\..\os_libs;%PATH%
cd /D "F:\usr\sap\SP2_\j2ee\j2ee_00\cluster\dispatcher"
if not "%JAVA_HOME%"=="" (
goto EDDIF11
set JAVA_HOME=C:\jdk1.3.1
:EDDIF11
set MEMORY=128M
"%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java" -classpath ".;.\system-lib\boot.jar" %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9 -Xmx%MEMORY% -Dredirect.input=true -Dmemory.manager=%MEMORY% -Djava.security.policy=.\java.policy com.inqmy.boot.Start
We start the productice System over NT-Service, but i think, that in the upgrade-process the system tries to start the go.bat and not the NT-Service. Could this be me problem ?
Here are the go.bat from my colleague:
@echo off
set PATH=..\..\os_libs;%PATH%
cd /D "F:\usr\sap\CON1\j2ee\j2ee_00\cluster\dispatcher"
if not "%JAVA_HOME%"=="" (

• App-V 5.0 SP2 RDS Client with hotfix 2 breaks frequently on Windows 2012R2 with User Profile Disks enabled

Hi All,
I am at my wit's end trying to troubleshoot this, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
We are having serious stability issues with App-V 5.0 SP2 RDS in our environment with User Profile Disks enabled.
We have applied the latest hotfix but the issues persist.
The main problems are:
1. Periodically the client seems to become corrupted and all applications stop working for all users. All applications including the official Microsoft Office 2013 ones - not just our packages.
The symptoms are the same as if I change the App-V Client Service account to run under a user account instead of SYSTEM, so it suggests a file access issue. The log files also hint at this, and one of there errors is similar to this:
The virtual application 'C:\Users\rds.user9\AppData\Local\Microsoft\AppV\Client\Integration\A3EF9C01-C0E9-4AC5-B21F-DB9B1D2F700C\Root\Mindjet\MindManager 14\MindManager.exe' could not be started because the
App-V Subsystem 'Virtual Filesystem' could not be initialized. {error: 0x6740090A-0x20003}
Once this problem occurs the only way I have found to fix it is to either completely remove and reinstall the client, or (perhaps this is the big clue) rename the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV\MAV\Configuration\Volumes , unpublish
an application, then republish said application.
I don't even think it matters which application gets published. The point seems to be that this 'Volumes' key gets rewritten.
I am highly suspicious that our issues are caused by User Profile disks in our RDS environment, as when I disable them on our staging collection all of these issues seem to disappear.
I have made sure all of the servers have permissions on the share (folder and share permissions). It doesn't seem to make a difference.
2. Some application fail completely with User Profile Disks enabled. If we switch the setting from "Store all settings and data on the user profile disk" to "Store Only the following folders" there seems to be some improvement,
in that at least one application that fails on the other setting starts to work.
3. We have already set that NTFS 8 dot 3 reg fix some time ago.
SOS!
We have gone live this week (not my call) and this is having disasterous consequences. :(
Thanks in advance,
John

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
I did try this a while ago without success, although it may be worth revisiting with SP2 applied.
I have left this client now.
I left them a Powershell script that deletes HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV\MAV\Configuration\Volumes
and triggers an Unpublish/Publish of an application we have deployed to all of the servers.
This seems to work, but a fix would be better than a workaround.
Not really my problem now though - I did my best.
Thanks,
John
