EP settings in BW bex

Hi Experts,
if anybody knows the Enterprise protal(EP) settings for WAD pls let me know .....
While i am executing the query on web error msg''' server error please contact administrator" i think this is bcoz of the EP settings not done.....so please let me know what are the steps if any basis steps also welcome i will ask basis team to do as they don't know.....

Have you search SAP Marketplace notes. You will find lots of information.
Search for RSPOR_SETUP.

Settings for BW BEx web link

Dear Friends,
We have just migrated the BW 3.5 server to a higher end server.
The host name had to be changed in the process due to which the BEx Web link (It is a default web link to access queries, not an Enterprise Portal link) is not accessible. I want to know where all I need to make changes to make it work.
The old link was
http://dicbwprd:8000/sap/bw/BEx
In this server dicbwprd is changed to bwprd and the port is changed to 8100.
If I just replace them in the internet explorer, it does not work: - http://dicbwprd:8000/sap/bw/BEx
I tried locating settings in SICF but no success.
Please help.

Have you changed the hostname entries in the profiles and also change icm port number in profile files .

BW report on portal - different settings than in BEx

Hi gurus,
I would like to ask you if it is possible to have different setting for BW report in portal than in BEx. Is there some content management feature which allows for example to have resultr rows for a characteristic in Portal and to not have result rows displayed in Bex for the same report?

Hello Michal,
I'm not particularly aware if there's an actual content parameter / feature to achieve what you want (unless, somebody can prove me wrong ofc) - portal side. If you look at the architecture of BW reports in Portal, it remotely access the backend via the query paramater in the iview and to BI-Java (load doesn't happen in ABAP stack anymore but in JAVA) for processing and then displays it on the front-end.
Key point is, if the report's not processed/generated on the portal but in BI-JAVA, then configuring the report to display as you wish via content manager in portal would be a new one that I have yet to encounter.
Just a little backgrounder. Hope another SDN user could answer your point directly.

Settings issue in BEx query

Hi Everyone,
I have included product group as a navigational attribute of material in one query and in the other query product group is added as a separate charecteristic.
Now my problem is that when iam executing the query in the first query in the selection list of product group iam getting some values which iam not getting while executing the other query.But the values are present in the default values list in the second query also.
Please help me out in this issue.

Bex Security Settings

I would like to configure Security settings for the BEx Applications. Currently when they logged on to BEx Analyzer, it is not disconnecting after a certain amount of time. We need to manually disconnect the connection. So what System profile paramters we need to change to enable secutiy for the BEx.

I raised a message with SAP and I have got the following answer.
"As you can see in note 906696 the parameter "rdisp/plugin_auto_logout" is related with HTTP and not with analyzer.
What you want to do is not available in this moment but SAP is working in this area and the note 1297645 which is not yet released will treat this situation.
In Frontend Patch 900 you can set the parameter ANA_IDLE_TIMEOUT in transaction RS_FRONTEND_INIT of the corresponding system and the analyzer will disconnect after 1 minute without taking the setting into
account."

Unable to Upload data from text file into BEx Analyzer selection screen

Hi,
No response from BEx Analyzer when I am trying to upload around 40,000 material from text file into BEx Analyzer selection screen using "Upload selections" options. But I am able to upload only 10,000 material from text file. I never faced same kind of issue when I am using BEx Analyzer 3.x. Please let me know I have to change any settings related to BEx or any other.

Because 3.5 does not use .NET it can work that.

Unable to view report from Bex Report Designer

Hi,
When I log on to Bex Report Designer, I click execute button, it is giving a blank page. It is neither giving any error nor any message. We have recently installed NW2004s and BI Cont 703. Now my problem is how to make report visible in the BEX Report Designer.

I have religiously followed your Blog. As far as I know any one who wanna setup BEx has to follow this. It is the one place where all the settings related to BEx front end were discussed and disclosed. Thanks a lot for your exemplary attempt.
Though you have mentioned about the .NET frame work I could not understand how it will effect the "insert" menu of BEx report designer. But i have checked that also and its matching with your recommendations.
My question is pretty simple. With sapgui6.40compilation5 with all the latest patches both for gui, BW and BI. Will i get the options of "Report section", "Report section based on Querry"in the "insert" menu of BEx report designer.
The mentioned options "Report section", "Report section based on Querry" were shown in the webnair of BEx report designer. Pls check the link:

We have installed and upgraded the system to spstack 8 and done all the settings. Our front end is also updated with the service packs. But we could not get those options. If you can give me your mail id i can send you the screen shots.

BEx Analyzer - Start BEx when Excel starts

Hi,
Our company uses MS 2010. We recently installed BEx Analyzer to several employee's PCs. On ONE out of 5 PCs, the user must re-check the box under Global Settings for "Start BEx Analyzer when Excel starts" every time she starts her PC each day. It stays checked until she shuts down the PC. What could be wrong? What should I look at?

so at the end of day when she shuts off and log in again analyzer doesnt open in excel again.?
there is way to do that in excel to open a program .. may be they can help.
only thing i can think of that she deletes her cookies when she logs off so excel cant save it properly.

BEx variables: Date is outside Factory Calendar Image

Good day
A user received the following message when selecting the inpiut help for a date variable for a CRM query:
" Date is outside Factory Calendar Image"
I have checked tcode SCAL and noticed that the factory calendar for South Africa = 1996 to 2010. I checked the CRM source and their factory calendar is the same. In the mean time I have transferred the global settings for SAP DNI (parts) into BW and the factory calendar setting for South Africa now shows 1996 to 2015.
Problem is that the CRM query still shows the same error message.
Question:
1) Should factory calendar settings for all SAP sources (Modules i.e. CRM...) be imported into BW, or is there another setting that I must check?

This is what I have done:
Whe have the following R/3 modules (source systems in BW)
SAP DNI
SAP dFM
SAP CRM
SAP SRM
etc.
(Tcode = SCAL, selected 'factory calendar', selected 'rebuild tables')
Firstly I have transferred the global settings for SAP CRM (as the BEX query is from CRM). Their factory date was 2012. This did not solve the problem.
secondly, I did SAP DNI, their factory date = 2015, this also did not solve the problem.
I then transferred the global settings for SAP dFM, our main reporting module, their factory date = 2020. The problem was solved.
Seems as if only ONE of the modules depicts the factory calendar date for BEX.
I have rested this again and only SAP dFM global settings rectified the BEx display problem.

BEx 7.0

Hello,
We have Installed BI 7.0 and we would like to use BEx 7.0 for the same. I have installed SAPGUI 710 with selecting all the options. We have also installed Microsoft framework 2.0. After installation if we navigate through BEx from windows it says "can only be used in SAP Netweaver 7.1". But the other options available were only BEx 3.x. When we execute the transaction code rrmx an excel sheet opens but the BEx options were disabled. Hope i beleive i miss something. Kindly help me on the same

Hi Madhu,
In the settings of the BEx Analyzer you find an option for which Analyzer should be used ('old' or 'new'). Your settings are probably on 'old'. Start the NW2004s version of the Analyzer. Click the Global Settings on the toolbar. In order to launch new Bex ,the setting has to be made in the new BEx Analyzer, and is called "Launch legacy version from RRMX". Close the NW2004S Analyzer.

Input help in variable screen

I'm having a query on top of 0EMPLOYEE. 0EMPLOYEE has an attribute of a business unit (which has the default BEx settings of display as text) and I have a selection option variable on top of this attribute.
Previously, on BW 3.x the variable screen used to show both the key and text, regardless of the settings in the BEx tab of the infoobject definition. in BEx Web JAVA it will only let me have the text selection. is it possible to change that without changing the default settings in the BEx tab of the infoobject definition?

2 queries to share same selection in 1 workbook

Dear Experts,
I remember is was possible to have 2 queries in 1 workbook and use the same popup selection window for both queries.
I forgotten how to do this.

Hello There,
Simply insert the second query (or more) in the workbook in a new sheet or existing sheet by clicking on the table button of the BEx design toolbar and inform the system wich Dataprovider (query) is set for that table.
After that click on the button of the workbook settings of the BEx design toolbar and select that the workbook will be refreshed on open (general tab) and the duplicate variables will be displayed only once (variables tab).

Declaring variable dynamic of decimal format

Hi SDN Community,
Can you possibly provide a sample of how to declare a variable to be dynamic.
the situation is that using the TABLE CLASS INTERFACE,
the numbers from I_VALUE come in as long decimal places. eg. 20.58498497
i wish to have a declaration to then use this further in the code.
for example
DATA: ROUNDEDNUMBER type i DECIMALS 2.
but i want instead of 2, to have this dynamic,
the dynamic value is populated by I_NUMERIC_PRECISION which is derived from the settings of the Bex query.
hence my anticipated result is 20.6 (which has been rounded as well)
I have seen Field symbols achieve this?

DATA: lr_packed TYPE REF TO data.
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs_packed> TYPE ANY.
CREATE DATA lr_packed TYPE p DECIMALS lv_decim.
ASSIGN lr_packed->* TO <fs_packed>.

Critical Error when opening completed AdobeForms

When user tries to open a completed form, he received "fpmruntimeexception. Form cannot be displayed. Check whether mandatory processes are available."

I faced the same error, when tried to save workbook with Bex Analyzer. And the version information is
BI AddOn 7.X(based on 6.40), Support Package 16, revision 1059.
Answer is to upgrade the version of Bex to revision 1214.
You can find the trace file by clicking Global Settings button of Bex Analyzer, and then go to tab Trace.
