EP6.0 - ECC6.0 - Update to EP7.0(NW2004s) nessessary?

Hi all,
we are planning to implement a new ECC6.0 System.
Do we have to use/upgrade to EP7.0 (NW2004s), if we want to connect to the ECC6.0 System or upload roles, display transactions and so on from the system?
I was looking for a hint at service.sap.com but i haven't found something yet.
Any suggestions or recommendations?

Hi Stanley,
double-verify that all needed files are there, specially the SP11 files.
You can stop the j2ee and start it again, then resume from point of failure, but I doubt it will help.
I suggest to open an oss with sap.
I too had a contraint violate with my upgrade, and they helped me to solve the problem.

Hi,
For leave request, u will have to activate the WF template 12300111.
Go to SWDD .. enter the WF ID WS12300111, from the menu .. choose GOTO -> Basic Data. Again Goto -> agent assignment . Select the task, select attributes and make it a general task.
Make Approval process also a general task ( 12300097).
After this, u will have to configure UWL in EP.

You are speaking about BW versions or portal versions? if you are talking about the latter one then there are lot of differences and the major is the use of usage types.Usage types determine the role which a system plays in a given scenario. it represent the capabilities offered by a collection of installed and configured software components. You ca nalso say, SAP NetWeaver 2004s is the SAP Business Suite edition of SAP NetWeaver 2004.

I am trying to make database statistics update periodically in SAP standalone J2EE engine, anyone plz tell me the process.
I am using netweaver 7.0 with oracle 11g database in solaris sparc

This is certainly a major problem. The issue is rather simple, SQL Developer is only retrieving as many rows as are specified in the preferences "SQL Array Fetch Size" (under preferences, database, advanced). A simple query on a table with 10,000 rows will only give stats on at most a retrieval of 500 rows since this is the max setting for the array fetch size. I'm not buying the argument that we don't want to wait for the entire result set. I suppose if your are only interested in seeing if the query is syntactically correct then not waiting for the entire set is fine. But the whole idea of AUTO TRACE is to see the statistics of the entire run so you can know what resources were used to compete the SQL. Seeing only the resources use to get the first set of rows is very misleading. And if you change the array fetch size to be smaller, your SQL will appear to run "better" when in reality you don't know who well it's running at all.
We need to be able to have AUTO TRACE retrieve all rows, not just the setting of array fetch size. There is currently no way to get AUTO TRACE to show the stats of a compete run.

Automate User Creation Process in EP7 through ECC6.

My Requirement is whenever a User is Created in ECC6 , the same user is to be
Created in EP7 automatically. Role assignment can be done later.

In this case is it possible to have a solution like say
1. Create a portal webservice which has a function to accept parameters required for User Creation.
2. This webservice will be called by ABAP whenever a new user is Created in Backend.
if yes then can u guide me in the Second Step mentioned above ?

MDM with ECC6.0

Hi all,
I know it is possible to access MDM catalogs via ECC6.0 (so without SRM) however my question is whether it is possible to fill certain backend business documents (network, internal order etc.) with content from the MDM internal catalog(s).
We are a utilities company and want to have our internal customers and contractors to plan their materials (so with material nr's) at our warehouse (this is, we want to add extra materials (by using the internal catalog) to networks and internal orders which have automatically been filled by bills of material).
I suppose the challenge in this case is the transfer via the OCI interface.
Obviously this is not a standard process but i would like to know if anyone has any suggestions to help me out, for example by using customer specific enhancements.
And if so, what should be done.....

EP6 SP16 to EP7 SPS10
NW2004 SP16 to NW2004s SPS10
BP ESS-60.1 to BP ESS 1.0
SAP ESS 100 SP7 to SAP ESS 600 SP7
We have created a custom application for address for some country in Personal Information similar to address components for US etc.
On click of <b>Back to Overview</b> link, it is giving me

And if i use

Here are some simple answers to your questions.
1. The WebDynpro peice contains most of the applications that get executed while using ESS and MSS. The BP contains the Iviews, pages, worksets, roles, folder structure of the ESS and MSS Portal content. These Iviews are what is used to call the WebDynpro applications.
2. NWDI is only manadotry if you are going to be using WebDynpro for Java. It can be helpful mechanism to manage other Java applications as they move through the system landscape but is not necessary for this. It is really in place for WD Java,
3. Most of the applications deployed with ESS and MSS are already WD Java and not WD ABAP. There are certain functions that use ABAP (Such as process selection) but for the most part they are all WD Java.
If you do some searching here on SDN, you will find all kinds of articles and doumentation that will help you understand the ESS/MSS functionality and what is involved. Below is a link to SAP Help for both ESS and MSS.

Fact sheet access problem in EP7.0

We have moved our content from EP6.0 System to EP7.0 System. We are on CRM 4.0 AND BW3.5. After we installed the Business package on EP7.0 System we moved the content. Every thing is working fine except Fact Sheet. We are facing access problem for Fact sheet. I have checked all the items which are given for Default services even then we are getting authorization problem. Kindly guide me in this regard.

Deployed ESS in upgraded EP7.0, but content not found

Hi,
We upgraded our EP6 SP14 system to EP7 SP12. Then, deployed ESS Business Package through JSPM. It deployed with success. However, I am unable to locate the content.
I know from another system that the content should be located in Content Administration -> Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP -> End User Content -> Employee Self-Service. However, the Employee Self-Service area is not there. Also, none of the ESS roles can be found.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Incorrect display of portal pages after migration to EP7

Hello,
after the migration from EP 6 to EP 7 some of the portal pages do not diplay correctly (for example user administration -> identity management, content administration -> webdynpro, system administration -> system configuration -> UME configuration). They show up as plain text, no theme is applied to these pages and navigation on these pages is not possible.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have searched in the SAP OSS and here on the SDN, but didn't find anything. The SAP support hasn't been able to help me so far.

we had the same problem with our migration from EP6 SP2 to NW04 and upgrade to NW04s.
The solution is to import the EP6 theme to the EP7 portal.
After that, everything should display ok.
to transport themes, go in portal to :
System Adm \ Portal Display \ Theme archive
Just export your themes from the EP6 portal.
Then in the 2004s portal, go to :
System Adm \ Portal Display \ Theme archive
Then import the EP6 Themes.

Are EP5 Java iViews Supported on EP7?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me whether our Java iViews, some of which are still in EP5 format Eclipse projects, are still supported and will run without modification on EP7?
If not, do we need to import them in NWDS for EP6, and then from NWDS for EP6 to NWDS for EP7?
Or can we import EP5 PARs directly into EP7 NWDS?

Hello Steve,
Ofcourse it is always recommanded to import EP5 project to corresponding NWDS (EP6/7) and compile the sources against the target EP-Version(EP6/7) .
This ensures that all classes you are using are still available on the target system.
So if your target system is EP7 then you need not check with NWDS EP6, you can directly import into NWDS EP7 and then add the EP7 sources to compile.
I am sure you will see some classes/methods depricated or missing!!
