EP6.0 SP6 setup.ini
Hi all,
I am trying to upgrade from EP6 SP4 to SP6.I've downloaded the required patch from sap marketplace. Now while installation I m getting an error "sapinst/tools/setup.ini not found". Anyone has any clue abt this?
rgds,
Rohit
Just got the bad news from SAP Support.
Although the note indicates that EP6.0 supports the use of hw SSL accelerator cards - the note itself is "misleading". The SSL Provider is part of the SAP sw shipment and there is no SAP ICC partner interface to certify the integration of SSL accelerators. The only SAP solution for EP6.0 at this time is to use them in a SSL Reverse Proxy infont of the portal solution to offload the overhead of SSL before it hits the portal. The reason I'm not using Webdispatcher is that I'm also trying to fulfill a requirement for standalone ITS on these same servers. Needless to say there are no dates set for when SSL Accelerator cards can be used with Netweaver stack DIRECTLY!!.
SAP support message below for completeness (from SAP AG Developement Manager so can be taken as gospel) - hope it saves someone else time if thinking of going down this route. <u>Please post reward points if you have found this information useful!</u>
SAP Note 686293 is misleading. All releases of EP 6.0 do not support
SSL hardware accelerators.
The SSL provider is part of the SAP shipment and there is no SAP ICC
partner interface to certify the integration of SSL accelerators.
If you realy require SSL hardware accelerators you should use a
standalone solution (SSL reverse proxy) to terminate the SSL connection
in front of the EP system.

How to edit the setup.ini file of the Adobe Reader X MUI?
Hi everyone.
I discovered today that is is possible to edit the setup.ini file of the Adobe Reader X MUI 10.1 installer (multilingual) in order to customize the installation. I stil have some questions about this.
1. I would like to make a custom installation of Reader X in german, english, french and spanish. Is this possible? I want to leave out all other languages from my installation..,.
2. I would like to edit the ini file to make an automatic update of my Reader, by installing all the patches (10.10, 10.11, 10.12, 10.13, 10.14, 10.15 and 10.16). Is this possible?
I patched my Reader manually, but when I install only the 10.15 and 10.16 updates, some functions are still missing (signature toolbar and add text function) so I suspect the patches are not-cumulative.
Can anyone on the forums show me the right codes for doing this? How can I get a 4-language upgraded Reader X?
Sincerely yours.
K. Adam.See the docs: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/index.html.
The admin guide tells you what updates are cumulative (all 10.x quarterlies) and how to set the lang via the cmd line. However, check out the Wizard Guide and download the free Wizard to customize your install and .ini as needed. Much easier.

Adobe Customization Wizard XI: setup.ini was not found (while saving the MSI)
I have downloaded the Adobe Customization Wizard XI and the Adobe Reader XI .msi file. I am only attempting the customize three options of this application. When I try to save the .msi file I get an error "setup.ini was not found".
I have placed the .msi file in a folder on the desktop. Additionally, I have tried using 7-Zip to extract the .msi in an effort to find the setup.ini file.
Where is this file located? What is the solution?
Any help is much appreciated.Just install Adobe Reader on a machine. Then you will get the flat files in a folder location that has the Setup.ini file. It will be something like this depending on your OS:
Windows 7 64-bit Example Location
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Setup\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-AB0000000001}\ -

I have a T60 that I was only able to use for a couple of days after purchase on EBAY in the fall of '08. Ordered recovery disks in spring of '10. Just now getting to use them.
The recovery did not work. BIOS shows 60 gig hard drive as 4.5 gig. Had hard drive reformatted at repair shop, where we discovered that the HD had 3 partitions, one 50 gig partitution unformatted.
After reformat, loaded R and R from CDs then rebooted to hard drive and loaded all 6 recovery CD's as per instructions. Last disk (6 of 6) popped up error messages that \SWWORK\4GEOXCA1\LAYOUT.BIN is corrupt or unreadable, Run CHKDSK.
Then a message that said: Unable to save all data for the file \Device\HarddiskVoume3\SWWORK\4GEOXCA1\LAYOUT.BIN Failure of hardware or net connection.
Following that corrupt file messages, like the first one above, for SETUP.INI, SETUP.EXE and SETUP.DLL came up.
The computer will not boot to windows, just sits there with a blank screen after the boot message. I can boot to the R and R program by hitting the Thinkvantage (blue) button.
Can I download uncorrupted versions of these files? Is there a way to check the integrity of the files on the recovery CD (some sort of cabinet type file, IIRC an MIS extension)?
Thanks in advance for your help!Hello,
Given the age of the computer, and the facts that you are not the original owner and it is having disk errors, you may also wish to test the hard disk drive inside it using the HDD manufacturer's diagnostics software.

Upgrade code: Specifies the upgrade code that Windows uses to identify the installer. If you duplicate an installer and you do not want the new installer to replace the previous version, generate a new upgrade code. If you want the installer to upgrade, do not change the upgrade code.

What is the best sequence to install EP6 SP6?
Hi,
We want to install a fresh installation of EP6 SP6. This requires a WAS to run on.
What should be the exact SP of WAS & EP6 that we should start with? In other words, what should be the exact sequence of steps for this installation?
It seems from the forums on SDN that using the Sneak Preview available on SDN has resulted in problems for many of them. Hence the concern.
I will be most happy if someone from SAP/SDN can reply to this.
Thanks 'n Regards,
Sagar
Can somebody please answer this ASAP? Time is short and we have to do this fast.
Thanks and Regards,
SagarHi Sagar,
the guide you are looking for is on http://service.sap.com/instguidesnw04. Browse to the operations section and download "support package stack guide - SAP Netweaver04 SP Stack 04". Since you are requesting EP SP6 this is part of Stack 4. The related WebAS SP is SP7 as you can read in the guide.
Is there a particular reason to go to SP6, why not the latest version? The sequence of steps to install depend on whether you are also planning to install other components like KMC. The document to read is on the same page in SMP, under the installation section, SAP EP, contains "Install Guide SAP EP 6.0 on WebAS 6.40". The 1st chapter has a list of steps you can follow depending on the components you plan to install. The section is called "Major Installation Steps".

Desktop Software 4.7 installation will not read setup.ini
I am trying to create a silent install for Desktop Software 4.7 using the following.
BlackberrySetup.exe /S /v USEINI=setup.ini /qn
I've also tried without the USEINI with same results.
setup.ini
[INSTALL_OPTIONS]
COUNTRY = United States
SETUPTYPE = Internet
USERS = AllUsers
MAILSERVER = Lotus
SHORTCUTDESKTOP = False
SHORTCUTSTARTUP = False
ENABLE_AUTOMATIC_UPDATE = False
UNINSTALLEXISTINGHANDHELDS = False
SUPPRESSREBOOT = True
The shrcuts for Desktop & startup are present after the install & my existing handheld codes get removed.Looking at the install log, the Desktop Software appears to be reading the setup.ini file, but the end result is that the settings I specified are not implemented.

Installer silent install - modify Setup config
Hi all,
Using LV 2009. Built installer which includes my own licence agreement.
Upon installation by the user my own licence agreement (not NI's) is all I want them to see, then my application and LV run-time should install (silently).
Can I achieve this merely by modifying the setup.ini in the Installer folder? The following seems to work:
[Dialogs]
UserInfo=0
FeatureInfo1=0
SingleDirectory=0
InstallationType=0
FeatureTree=0
License=1
License2=0
NICertificate=0
ConfirmStart=0
End=1
Does anyone envisage any problems with doing this? I cannot test because I cannot uninstall the LV RTE (anybody know how to do this?).
There is another entry at the very bottom of the setup.ini file which I've set to 0 (not sure if it does anything:
[SilentInstallRequirements]
MustAcceptLicenses=0
In the past I've read a lot about SPEC files and command line entries to achieve silent install. If I can do it by changing the setup.ini then why would I bother with a SPEC file?
Your insight is appreciated. Happy Christmas!
Battler.battler.,
I was unable to find public documentation as to what those entries in the ini file actually do.As of LabVIEW 8.0, the Run-Time Engine does not give you an option to manually uninstall. This is because other NI applications (Signal Express, Example Finer, etc.) rely on these RTE and will break if the component is removed. If you uninstall all the dependent software, the Run-Time Engine should uninstall itself. Also, if you manually install the RTE, and there are no dependent applications also installed on the computer, it will show up in the Add/Remove Programs list. Knowing this, I think the easiest way totest your installer is to find a machine with no NI software. Once you run your installer, you should be able to explicitly remove the LV RTE as long as no other NI software was installed.
Also, I did find this KnowledgeBase that shows how to install the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine without any prompts for the user. It is related to using the command line entries you mentioned.
Hope this helps, happy holidays!

Install and setup problem with Acrobat XI pro
I have downloaded the Acrobat XI Pro trial program, with no error messages. When I clisk on "setup.exe" the following error message appears, see screen shot :
"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exixts and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windose Installer patch package"
How do I get setup to start?@Jeff -- Yes I did use theDownload assistant. Down load completed and assistant started the insall. Received the error message and install terminated. Searched for and found the install folder and have tried install by clicking on"setup.exe". Have not tried a fresh download, did the MSI logging, see next reply.
@LeoAdobeX -- I renamed the file\folder path and eliminated all spaces. Clicked setup.exe and received same error message.
Enabled MSI logging and tried setup.exe, received same error message. Have posted 2 most recent MSI files and the setup.ini file. Here are the links:

I don't know what goes wrong as took my serial number on my profile from the adobe web site, same thing for the download of the software.
Does it means that the serial number provided was invalid for deploying ?
NB.: My goal is to deploy our Acrobat XI through SCCM in silent mode and I don't know if there is extra consideration for that. For now it's only not working at the command line.
Another important point is that the install works great without customization ! If I just run the setup.exe from freshly extracted files and I use my serial number, everything is working fine.
So what goes wrong ?Thanks for the reply brogers_1 and Vinod Dbhal, you gave good hint.
I retried installing the initial package in French on a Windows 7 English and the software installed properly in French.
As I used to work with virtuals for those tests, I rolled back my virtual and redo my test installation with chosing to install it in English on my Windows 7 English and again the installation finished properly but I was surprised when I realized that even if I chose English as language, the software was running in French !
Of course I can change the language settings (in the edit-preferences-language) to follow the operating system witch is nice.
That gave me the cue I needed to know. I started from scratch my customization with choosing only the French language in the "Application Languages" and I left the MUI Languages blank and saved the .mst
I ran again the same command : msiexec /i AcroPro.msi TRANSFORMS=AcroPro.mst /qb!
And everything works fine.
NB.: As I used the .msi directly, of course I had to install the prerequirement Visual C++ 2010 first. Otherwise the installation failed without any error message.
Thanks again to you for your good hint,

OpenOffice setup won't run.
I have a brand new install of Arch. I installed openoffice-base and openoffice-spell-en. When I run /opt/openoffice/setup "nothing" happens. I ran it under strace and something is going on but it just exits. Here's a snippet of the strace:
