EP6 on Netweaver 04. Workflow Capabilities? XI?

I am researching the workflow capabilities of EP6 on Netweaver 04 and I've not been able to clarify what are the requirements to perform workflow. Some posts state that to obtain workflow capabilites we must have XI and some information states that workflow is part of the base Web AS product with Netweaver 04.
Here are my questions:
1. Do we need XI to perform intra-product (EP6) workflow?
2. Does XI require an additional license?
3. Are there any code examples or tutorials on how to create a workflow in Java with Netweaver Studio and not the Aris product?
Any of your help or links to other threads that I may have missed would be greatly appreciated.

It's not clear if you're referring to the SAP Business Workflow product or the Collaborative Process Engine included with EP6. The CPE in EP6 allows creation of powerful workflows which can be processed through the EP6 Universal Worklist and does not require XI. You can create workflows using the CPE using the Task Wizard available in the Universal Worklist and in Collaborative Task Rooms.

How to implement iview by EP6 or Netweaver???

Does iview be implemented by EP6 or Netweaver???

Hi,
Do you mean you want to create your own iview?
If yes, you create an Portal Application using NetWeaver Developer Studio or Eclipse(provided you have imported the PDK). Create a PAR(Portal Archive) file out of it.
Then create an iview using that PAR file and you can then use it in your portal.
You can also look into iviewstudio.com to know more about how to create iviews.

Hi Prasad,
In ep5:
1. go to Portal Administration* -> Export
2. select a role
3. choose an export destination on the server (default is under EP5Data/.../Data/Export).
4. press Export
In the server of the ep5 system:
1. put all the generated files in a folder, and zip it.
In ep6:
1. go to System Administration -> Transport -> Import
2. choose "client"
3. upload the zip you create and Press Import
4. look under Migrated Content in the portal content for the result.
Whereever that doesn't work, the way is to recreate the iView in ep6 (your developments from par, built-in iViews like KM navigation etc. from templates), and recreate the entire role/workset/page hierarchy.

Workflow capabilities for a loans project

I have installed the workflow 9i 2.6 server(standalone).
There is also a oracle9iAS installed in another m/c with

Pls let me know if below activities can be performed using the workflow and what is the processs for doing the same.
-How to create and maintain the roles/heirarchy and what kind of heirarchy is suported by workflow.
-How to keep track of the document and what is the procedure for uploading the doc. Is it anything to do with the configuration of the DAD.
-How to configure the notification mailer if I have workflow server installed on a win2k server and i am using outlook express as mail client.
-Is there any facility for calendar and holiday maintenance. How to handle the processes if
one of the authoriser is unavailable. How to maintain and manage time-outs.
-When the concept of Message queueing and Advanced Queing(AQ) comes into picture.
-Job Monitoring,Tracking and Escalation
-Document management, OCR, Indexing, Archival, Search, Retrieval and versioning

ProgrammaticImport uses import.wdl which is different from other workflows.
It is located with the sample code in publishing.
So everytime you execute any programatic import it looks for the workflow mentioned in your Programatic Import properties file.
workflowName=/Content Administration/import.wdl
you may want to look at this property to see if you are using the OOB provided workflow or a customized workflow.

CRM 3 ISA 3.1 & IPC 3.0 are they working with EP6 NetWeaver?

Actually we have E-selling (CRM 3,ISA 3.1 & IPC 3.0) that working with EP 5.0 SP5,I'm just wondering If we upgrade to EP6.0 NetWeaver can we just migrate iViews or we have to upgrade to CRM 4.0, ISA?, IPC?, too.

Maryam, Netweaver should be downward compatible so I do not see any issues. If you want to be sure just create an OSS message. Tiest.

Reg: WorkItem & Mail Inbox Problem for Multiple users In workflow

I have developed a wofkflow application to sent SAP mails and Workitems to multiple users. I Have a Container which has the property as multi line. and i mapped this container variable with expression of my mail step. This means i can send multiple mails at the sae time....Its working Fine. But the problem is,
Suppose I am sending mails to User1 & User2. Both are receiving the mail, But if user1 read the mail user2 mail is set as read document instead of unread doucument.....
How to Solve this? any solution ?

Workflow in Primavera 7

Has anyone played around with the new workflow capabilities in v7. We have not yet deployed v7 and robust workflows in an important factor that would prompt us to make the move sooner. Thank you!

P6.1 had a workflow engine to route documents, approvals, create projects. This was suspended in P6.2 I believe. Primavera intended to roll out improved workflows with branched flows etc (not suppoerted earlier) starting v7. Thanks.

Workflow for authorization requests

First of all
I don't normally work with SAP security and authorizations, so please tell me if my question is in wrong forum.
My question
Does any Workflow for authorization requests exist.
If I search SDN and google, I get lots of hits about authorization for workflow, but what I search is workflow for authorization requests.
Background
I often observe time wasting discussions about "who should have authorization for what", and I think this is caused by lack of well defined procedures describing the business rules and process for granting authorizations to a specific user.
Of course I understand the need for a more overall design and implementation of authorizations, but at the same time I observe, that a very common scenario is, that a new or existing employee is asked to take care of some business task or maybe a system maintenance task like customizing, but the user don't have the correct authorizations to perform this specific task.
So
Does any standard workflow exist for handling the process of requesting, approving and implementing authorizations?
Or is there a better approach to this problem?

if you mean a request for new role assignment then there is no standard SAP workflow for this. You could implement. SAP offers other tools that can help you to achieve this. GRC suite has a tool for role approvals and it's super easy to implement approval workflow in SAP IdM. 3rd party IdM solutions have workflow capabilities as well. External tools such as SAP IdM allow you to perform role assignment over multiple SAP and non-SAP systems (there are other benefits as well).
If you mean request to add missing authorization object to already existing role then I don't think there is a need for workflow. In stable environment this should not happen very often and you still have to create/modify security role in DEV and then posh it through QA environment to production.

I recently purchased Contribute CS4 for its workflow
capabilities. Setting up the workflow association to my template
was straightforward. The workflow that I am using
Author=>Approval=>Publish for each of my template.
I only want users with Publisher role to be able to approve.
I am not clear how I would set this up.

If you want only the Publisher to Approve it, please select
the publish while sending for Approval.

Improved (vastly) Filing Capabilities

As it is today, LR has decent workflow capabilities from the point that you have filed images to work with. The issue is that there is not a decent filing system built into the product. Post-filing is mostly nailed, with some enhancements needed to ease of keywording and overall product robustness.
What is needed at the MINIMUM is a way to set the filename and sequence per folder. That way, as you add images to a folder, the filename is correct. This is probably the biggest pain I am having with 1.0.
Also, we should be able to rename when moving any existing filed image to a new folder. This is functionality in the system I have been using for several years.
All of my images are cataloged with a unique naming convention based upon a specific taxonomy. The folder structure mirrors this.
Here is an example of what I'm looking for:
Copy images from card to 2 different folders
Folder #1 = .\Birds\Long-Legged Birds\Boat-billed Heron\
Folder #2 = .\Birds\Long-Legged Birds\Great Blue Heron\
In folder #1 images should be named DBWBBnnnn ("n" = sequence).
In folder #2 images should be names DBWBHnnnn.
For me at least, this is the workflow I would like to see built in:
1. Load card or point to folder
2. Images are placed in a sorting place (I'll use the term "shoot")
3. Select keepers from the shoot (note a shoot could have hundreds of images)
4. Keyword keepers with an easier method (perhaps a floating window of keyword hierarchy with checkboxes?)
5. Right click on a library folder to FILE images to
6. LR knows the naming convention used in that folder and prompts for confirm/edit
7. Images are FILED to the library folder via a move and rename using the above info
This is what I have today and it works well and is fast. The primary benefit I have in LR as-is is the post-filing processing.
I for one would e happy to spend some time with the development team and whiteboard out some ideas.

i just tried the acrobat x ocr capabilities and it was very disappointing. acrobat x ocr is not very accurate.
also, acrobat x doesn't format or select paragraphs properly, because each line of text is given a paragraph break--which interrupts text flow. that means any copied paragraph text from acrobat x will require a lot of manual reformatting.
any chance acrobat can use the abbyy finereader ocr engine in the future or as a plugin? finereader ocr is virtually perfect in ocr accuracy. finereader also handles paragraph text flow the way it should be.
