Episodes in Store

It seems like others are having this problem as well. I have 11 episodes in my podcast, My Next Meal (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=83219866). It updates in itunes fine, but only shows the first seven episodes in the itunes store.
I have Podcast RSS Buddy 3.2, which has the new catagories included. Which brings me to the other problem in the store. I have listed my podcast under Arts with the subcatagory Food. However, when you search the food podcasts, mine is not listed.
I am totally ****** that Apple is not addressing this issue. Help!
Thanx,
Justin

You have introduced at least one fatal error into your feed which has rendered it unreadable: hence the Store is showing the cashed version from the last time it was able to read it, and it shows as empty on subscribing.
The problem arises in the URL for the media file for your latest episode:
<enclosure url="http://www.thrivinglifechurch.co.uk/admin/podcast/Guardrails_Once&ForAll.mp3" type="audio/mpeg" length="" />
You have an ampersand ('&') - in XML this indicates the beginning of a code sequence. As you have never terminated it this renders the rest of the feed unreadable. You should not use '&' in a filename ever; you will need to rename the file, re-upload it, and amend the feed accordingly.
EDIT you have corrected this while I've been working on it, but you have a simiar error in the episode of Jan 6 and you should check for any others.
I'm also getting the mysterious error
'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0x85 in position 65380: invalid start byte (maybe a high-bit character?)
This usually means that there is a non-standard character such as a word processing control code (invisible in normal documents), often at the very beginning of the feed where no extra character is allowed. Normally when this happens I can see it when examining the feed, but on this occasion I can't: possibly it's related to the ampersand error. You should correct that, and try subscribing manually in iTunes to check it (this is something you should do as a matter of course to catch errors) and see whether that cures the issue.

  • Half my Episodes have disappeared from the iTunes store

    hi all,
in the last couple of weeks, I noticed that iTunes store has changed their structure for Arts: Literature podcasts. You now have to scroll down on the page to get the category..
    the old way was..
    Podcasts
    Arts
    Literature
    the new way is...
    Podcasts
    Arts
Then, scroll down to More Arts and select Literature
This by itself, just makes it harder to find our podcasts, but my main question and problem, is that now even though we have 46 episodes, the store only lists 25 episodes.
All of our episodes were listed before this structure change.
My feed is through feedburner, and I have the maximum shown episodes set at 100, so that should be ok. Any suggestions how I might get my episodes listed again..The feed validator for both feeds say that everything is ok...
    Here are my two feeds...

    http://feeds.feedburner.com/authorsinyourpocketshow
Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions...

Yeah, not too much that you can do about the category shuffle business
Anyway, I took a look at your feeds. iTMS is not the one with the issue, it is not cutting off any of your listed podcasts - both of the feeds that you gave me links to only have 25 episodes listed. I checked in Firefox, IE, and the raw code. Nothing beyond the 25.
Did you generate the feed yourself or did you have Feed Burner do it? Because you need to take a look at your file - someone or something has removed the listings that you want to keep in there. See if you can figure out whether it is you or Feed Burner. If you find the missing listings, once you have them back in your feed they should reappear in the Store.

  • Latest episode from TV series "Lies

Latest episode from TV series “Lies & Secrets" hasn’t downloaded automatically per the norm. Tunes wants to charge me the cost of this individual episode as if it doesn’t recognize the Season as Purchased (despite Store’s Season label states Purchased). Checked all the usual points to no avail. This is a recurring problem.
Episode 1 & 2 from TV series "What on Earth” disappeared from Cloud.

By 'checked all the usual points' you mean ... ? Does it show in the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage for downloading ?
For the other series, if they are still in your country's store then check to see if you've hidden those episodes : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases - Apple Support

  • First podcast episode missing from search

    Newbie here...
iTunes is missing my first episode 'Beginning'.  When I first submitted the show it showed up fine.  If you subscribe to the show you get the first episode but if you just search for the show (The QuoteSpoke Podcast) it is missing the first episode.  Any advice is appreciated.  My show and RSS info is available below.

Under neath the list of episodes, the Store says '4 items'. I'm afraid you've fallen over a long-standing intermittent bug in the Store which does this sort of thing. It's not a problem with your feed, and there isn't anything you can do about it. It will probably sort itself out in a few days.

  • Podcast episodes listed backwards

I have submitted my podcast to iTunes and I was very happy to know that I have been approved to have my podcast added to iTunes. When I found my podcast in iTunes I realised that the episodes that I have in the store are in reverse order, ie. episode 1 is episode 4 etc. I have used blogger to post my audio files and have used Feedburner to create the feed link. Is there anything that I can do to make it so that episode 1 is episode 1 and that every episode that follows is in order of its creation?
links to my feed and podcast are here.

    Hey there!
It looks like your podcasts are listed backwards in the iTunes Store. Here is the information you need to get those sorted correctly from the following article:
    Working with iTunes
    https://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#order
The order in which the episodes appear is based on the <pubDate> for each item, with the most recent episodes appearing at the top of the list. You can override the <pubDate> using the <itunes:order> tag.
    <itunes:order>
This tag can be used to override the default ordering of episodes on the store.
This tag is used at an <item> level by populating with the number value in which you would like the episode to appear on the store. For example, if you would like an <item> to appear as the first episode in the podcast, you would populate the <itunes:order> tag with “1”. If conflicting order values are present in multiple episodes, the store will use default ordering (pubDate).
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • TS1424 season pass stopped downloading, how to restart?

My season pass stopped downloaded after three episodes. iTunes store recognizes I'm a season pass holder, recognizes that I have only downloaded 1-2, recognizes that episode 4 is available ... won't download. Any suggestions?

You have already purchased it, so don't worry about having to pay for it again. In the Mac App Store, go to the purcahses tab, select the Mountain Lion download, and either click the "X" or hit the delete button on your keyboard to remove it. Then, go back to the page that you originally bought Mountain Lion from, and download it again.

    thank you!

I checked further into the specs and the absence of the hours isn't significant.
When subscribing, everything appears correctly. Your feed is lacking the 'itunes:subtitle' and 'itunes:summary' tags which should contain the descriptions and info: iTunes is managing to draw the information from the 'title' and 'description' tags in each episode.
However in the Store page, only episode 9 shows a duration and a description: I can't see any reason why this should be as the code isn't any different from the other episodes. Have you modified the feed coding recently (this seems doubtful for over 300 episodes) - the Store could just not have updated. Otherwise I can see no reason for this, though you might want to start using the itunes tags I mentioned. This page gives a basic sample feed so you can see what I'm talking about:

  • My podcast has been accepted by apple and has been working on the itunes store for a few years until recently. If I search for it I can see some of the episodes but no matter which store I am in I am told I can't few the episodes in my current store

I have a podcast that has been submitted to itunes a few years back that has been working just fine. The person updating it broke it a few months back, I have fixed the error and reformatted it but the podcast still doesn't work. If I go in itunes and choose to open stream and connect to the podcast URL there, then it works just fine, but If I search for it in the itunes store (search: Jubilee Community Church) then a couple of the episodes show up (see The Art of Marriage by Stephen van Rhyn) but if I click on any of them it just tells me that my podcast is not available in the current store. But I submitted it from the UK store and it is not even available on that store. I have send numerous emails to Apple Support but they have been incredibly unhelpful. I hoped it would update overtime and start working again but its been a month and still nothing, I can't get hold of anyone technical from itunes support to reload my podcast or tell me whats wrong, I can't even resubmit my podcast because it's already been submitted and therefore won't allow me too. I've run out of options, any help would be appreciated!

  • I recently purchase a tv episode from the iTunes store, however, can not download to my IPOD Touch.  Apparently, a format issue, any suggestions

I recently purchased a tv episode from the iTunes store.  However, I can not get the tv episode downloaded to my IPOD Touch i.e. can not sync movie although music works fine.  From what I read it is an issue with the format of the episode.  The format is HD and apparently is too much for my IPOD touch.  According to the documentation, the SD format for the episode should have been downloaded at the same time as the HD.  I have the latest iOS for my IPOD Touch, 4.2.1 and latest for ITunes 10.5.3.3.  I am using my PC with Windows 7.  I can not download directly to the IPOD Touch since access to the clous is required i.e. iOS 4.3 or higher.  Any suggestions?

My suggestion is for you to do the downloads overnight.

How can I download my TV episodes to my Macbook Pro. I bought them from my iPad2, and I looked for them with the same AppleID on iTunes Store and they wont download to my iTunes.

What country are you in ? Depending upon what country that you are in then you might be able to redownload them on your Mac's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the iTunes store homepage
If you're not in a country where TV programmes can be redownloaded then connect the iPad to your Mac's iTunes and use the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over from your iPad

how can i add videos, movies and tv shows episodes to my ipod nano?I want to know whether i can directly add them through my pc or not without downloading them from i tunes store?

Yes, you can add your own videos to iTunes, then sync them to your nano, subject to supported max resolution limit and file type.  The specs for the 7th gen nano says (I don't know which nano model you have), Video Format Support
"H.264 video: 720 by 576 pixels, 30 frames per second; Baseline, Main, and High-Profile level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 256 Kbps; 48kHz; stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 Mbps, 720 by 576 pixels, 30 frames per second; Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 256 Kbps; 48kHz; stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats"
    http://www.apple.com/ipod-nano/specs.html
(earlier nanos have lower max resolution limits)
So, "HD" video is too high resolution, so iTunes will not sync such videos to the iPod (although they play in iTunes).  If you are asking how to set up iTunes to sync videos in general (regardless of source), please post back.

  • How can I get iTunes Store to remove a stranger's episode from my podcast?

I was so happy to see my podcast produced in Podbean was accepted by the iTunes Store. However, there are two mistakes. How can I get them corrected?
    (1)   Another individual's podcast was added along with my three podcasts episodes. It doesn't look like mine; it doesn't have my organization's name, it doesn't have the same title. Then his book was also added.
    (2)   All three of my spiritual podcasts have "explicit" besides them (but his Christian church episode does not). There is nothing explicit and no curse words in any of my spiritual podcasts. They are child friendly.
How can I get theese errors corrected? Thanks.

If the Denon shows in airplay mirroring you can just turn on mirroring and get the sound.  Otherwise try System Preferences -> Sound -> Output and choose the Denon there. Any system sound will play through the airplay device.  I don't know why apple doesn't just give an airplay option from the menu bar sound icon to make this easier.... seems like they are pushing people to mirror

  • New Episodes of my Podcast are not showing up in the iTunes Music Store?

this isn't really an "itunes for mac" question, but since i do my production on a mac, i'll ask it here!
i produce and record a weekly podcast (about 2 hours each week) which has been listed in the iTMS since it started (last february)
this last week we recorded episode 31 and uploaded it to my .mac account, and all went well... the new episode is downloading to anyone who already has subscribed to the rss feed (homepage.mac.com/airplayradio/podcast.xml), but it hasn't shown up in the iTunes Music Store... the software i use to upload the shows generates an automatic ping, and i've done a manual ping a couple of times a day since wednesday, but nothing...
any ideas? absolutely -nothing- (software/hardware/etc.) has changed since i uploaded episode 30 a week ago, and that showed up within an hour...
    many thanks for any advice!
    cheers

well, i never got a reply directly to my question, but i was directed by email to post my problem within itunes... go to the podcast page of my podcast and then select "report a concern"... i always thought this was to report offensive podcasts, but if you click on that button you'll see a pull down list with a bunch of problems... i selected "difficulty downloading" and then explained the problem completely... as i said, i never heard back from anyone, but about 4 days later my podcast episode showed up... and this past wednesday we uploaded the latest episode and it showed up in the iTMS almost immediately... go figure?!
if anyone's interested, the podcast name is Schnauzer Logic and its comedy and talk and music and pop culture (i used to be the host of a morning show)... good for a giggle once a week for a couple of hours.
    cheers!
