  • Poscast episodes not showing up in iTunes store

We recently created a podcast feed through soundcloud which was approved by apple to be included in their podcast listings. It was approved earlier this week. But none of the podcast episodes are shoing up!
the rss feed link to the episodes is:
    http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:109788105/sounds.rss
    The iTunes store link:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/cacher-audio/id916473847?mt=2
One of the first episodes is
    https://soundcloud.com/cacheraudio/cacher-audio-what-made-your-first-geocache-me morable-urban-style
This one finally showed up a few hours ago!
    The second one has not:
    https://soundcloud.com/cacheraudio/cacher-audo-what-was-memorable-about-your-fir st-geocache-into-the-woods
    The others have not either:
    https://soundcloud.com/cacheraudio/geotour
    https://soundcloud.com/cacheraudio/cacher-audio-what-was-memorable-about-your-fi rst-geocache-we-are-family
Any suggestions as to what we need to do so that the other podcasts are listed?

All four episodes are showing in the Store and when subscribing. There have been intermittent problems with the Store updating from feeds recently - Apple are aware and their engineers are working on it - so that might have been the issue. At the moment everything is working OK.

  • New episodes not showing up in iTunes

I have added a new episode (item) to my feed and pinged iTunes and the new episode will not show up. The feed was validated and is in the proper format.
When people subscribe, the episode is available and workign fine.
Any way idea on how to get the episode to show up in the listing?
    http://advisor.morningstar.com/rssdata/xml/getchoatepodcastdata.xml

Yeah. I checked on this yesterday and it seems to be broken still. I've starred at the code for quite a while and for the life of me can't see what's wrong.
    My only other theories are:
    1) it for whatever reason doesn't like the formating, no line breaks, just one long string...which in theory shouldn't make a difference...but this is Apple we're dealing with so who knows.
    2) doing a search for Morningstar, brings up several podcasts...the one we're dealing with here "Morningstar Advisor" and another similarly named "MorningstarAdvisor". Both seem to have different content. Not sure if iTunes might be confused into thinking that this is a duplicate feed and is no longer updating it.

  • Single Podcast Episode Not Showing up in iTunes

The second episode of the ExactTarget Developer Podast is not showing up. This was originally related to a bad link which was subsequently fixed. Any idea of what is happening or how it can be fixed?
    Podcast: ExactTarget Developer Podcast
    Feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/ExactTargetDeveloperPodcast

The media file URL for the missing episode has two spaces after the '.mp3' and before the double quotes; it seems possible that this is causing iTunes to be unable to read the URL.

  • Libsyn hosted podcast episodes not showing up.

I understand there may be a glitch happening but I've waited over a week now and it hasn't sorted itself out yet. My feed is fine in other podcast catchers but the episodes don't show in iTunes. Thanks for any help, guys.
    Thank you!

    Podcast info below:
Your podcast, located at http://getoffmypodcast.libsyn.com/rss, has been approved. You should expect to see it on the iTunes Store within the next few hours. When it's available, you will be able to access it with the URL below.
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/get-off-my-podcast-harrison/id873113856
You will be able to find your podcast through a search on the iTunes Store within the next two days.

Your feed works OK when subscribing in iTunes, but if you look at the iTunes Store in iTunes (as opposed to the web page version) you will see that it says '2 items' but is not showing any. This is a long-standing intermittent bug in the Store, not a problem with your feed, and I'm afraid there isn't anything you can do about it. It will probably sort itself out in a few days.

  • Can't delete TV episode, not showing in itunes

A TV episode failed to complete downloading and is stuck in the TV episode list and I can't delete it. It's not showing up in itunes either to delete it from there. Also, I can't retry downloading it because it says "Download error. Tap to continue" or whatever and when I tap it it just hangs at preparing to download. It's been that way for weeks. Is there anyway to manually delete it from the phone itself?

Same issue.  The error says not enough space for me -- go to settings to alter. Takes me to storage -- and the video is not listed as using storage!
I have 8 episodes stuck there -- some even play -- but none will swipe to delete.  To test I did swipe to delete a video podcast -- no problem.  Just my TV Shows seem to be permanent fixtures.
Connected to the computer to see what ITunes showed as installed TV Shows on the device -- nothing there...!!!

  • Back episodes not showing up in iTunes

Since switching to a FeedBurner feed, only the most recent 3 of my 59 episodes are showing up in the iTunes Store.
The RSS feed that iTunes reads from is still working fine, subscription is possible, so what could be causing this limited display?
    www.sparkletack.com/rss

I'm having the same problem. I deleted the RSS feed in Feedburner the first time it happened and my episodes came back in iTunes. Originally I had 5 episodes and only 1 showed up.

  • Podcast episodes not showing up in iTS

We have recently changed our URL. We were able to successfully publish episode 4 with the redirect but for some reason episode 5 never showed up. episode6 is now up and we need these to show up in the store.
    FEED URL:
    http://www.texastribune.org/feeds/podcasts/the-tribcast/
subscriptions are updating just fine. Episode 5 was updated last week. I've manually pinged the server.

Firstly, to clarify the situation with iTunes. When you submit a podcast feed URL to iTunes it caches the feed (updating it periodically) and displays the contents in the Store page. When you click 'Subscribe', the Store directs the iTunes application to the feed - this is now a direct connection and doesn't involve the Store (you could say the Store acts as an agent). The same result can be obtained by subscribing manually from the 'Advanced' menu.
It's possible to get into a situation where the iTunes application can read a feed but the Store can't - often this is caused by a redirect script which the application and browsers can understand but the Store doesn't, so when people change the feed to one using this the subscriptions will update but the Store page stays with the cached version of the old feed.
Something like this may have happened here. Your feed URL is given as
    http://www.texastribune.org/feeds/podcasts/the-tribcast/
The slash on the end of a URL usually means that what precedes it is a folder name, and that the file which is brought up is called index.html which browsers will display automatically in this situation. In your case, if one control-clicks on the URL and downloads the file you get a text file called the-tribcast.rss. This file is valid in itself -the actual XML seems to be OK - but if you open the URL in FireFox and choose 'Page Source' from the 'View' menu it displays the feed as pure text without colouring the tags (which it would normally do with an XML file).
If you open the downloaded feed in FireFox it displays the contents but warns 'This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it'.
All this means that although FireFox and the iTunes application are able to recognize the feed as a feed and parse it correctly, the iTunes Store isn't doing so. Possibly the incomplete URL is confusing it - do you have some sort of redirect in place which takes browsers to the actual file, but which the Store cannot understand? Otherwise possibly the server is telling the Store that the file is text, rather than XML, though normally in this case FeedValidator would pick this up, which it doesn't.
Whatever the cause, you now have a Catch-22 situation: the Store isn't reading your feed, and so isn't updating; and you cannot change the Store to a new feed because to do so requires it to be able to read the existing feed.
Unless you can modify the feed or the way the server presents it without affecting the URL which the Store is looking for you have two not very satisfactory options:
    1. You can abandon this feed, and submit a completely new feed to the Store. You will need to change the name of the podcast slightly or you will be told it already exists. If you do this you should make sure that the feed URL is a complete one including the actual filename. It's probably better to use the extension .xml rather than .rss (although the latter should work).
    2. You can get the Store to remove the feed and then resubmit with the same title. (You should still use a new and complete feed URL). The removal process is detailed here:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#removing
Expect the process to take some days. A previous poster with a similar problem was initially told just to use the 'block' tag but this is no good to you as iTunes isn't reading the feed, but he did eventually get a manual removal and if you don't you will need to pursue it.

  • Episodes not showing up

I've been trying to set up a podcast on a local machine before I go public and put it on the web. I'm using drupal as my CMS to produce the feed, and songbird seems quite happy to see my feed and download the episodes. iTunes seems happy to acknowledge the feed exists, but doesn't show up with any episodes. The XML is below, though you'll have to forgive the utter randomness with which I have filled the tags. Any ideas why iTunes might be sulking at me?

That's an interesting question, I've not seen it arise before. Apple say, about testing your podcast,
'When you have created your RSS feed and posted it to a server with a publicly addressable URL (i.e., not behind a firewall), you should test your feed to see if it works with iTunes:
    Launch iTunes.
In the Advanced menu, select Subscribe to Podcast.
Enter your feed URL in the text box and click OK.'
Is your RSS feed on the internal network? If iTunes can see that then you may be able to subscribe within iTunes, but it won't show up in any way in the Music Store as it a) hasn't been submitted and b) isn't available anyway. When you say 'episodes don't show up' how exactly were you trying to access them?

  • New episode not showing up in iTunes

hi there, I've searched around but don't see an answer to this specific problem.
I've just uploaded our second podcast
updated the xml and pinged itunes
i know the itunes ping worked as the first episode was updated
however i dont see episode 2 on the itunes page
if i go to my podcast list and right mouse click update podcast i do get episode 2
i dont have unique guid 's for each podcast could that be it?
    xml is http://theatomicgeeks.com/podcasts/TAG_ep1.xml
thanks in advance for any help

You should have a guid tag, though Apple's Tech Note implies you can get away without it:
    <guid>
+Every <item> should have a globally unique identifier that never changes. When you add episodes to your feed, guids are compared in case sensitive fashion to determine which episodes are new. If you omit the guid for an episode, the episode url will be used instead.+
Feedvalidator also shows up the absence of these tags on the results page for your feed.
But how long is it since you uploaded the episode? You say 'just'.. my experience is that it takes 24-48 hours for a new episode to appear, so you may just need to wait a bit.

  • Latest tv episode not showing up

Episode 18 Season 11 of NCIS aired on March 25, but has not shown up in iTunes.
    What could be the problem?

I can only check it in iTunes on a Mac: there, everything appears to be working normally. I can see nothing in the feed which might cause this - there are some errors picked up in the FeedValidator report which you might want to look into, though none of them is serious: most are irrelevant to iTunes, the only issue being the presence of HTML coding in 'itunes:summary' tags - iTunes will show the code, not render it:
    ...Johann Gudmundsson och Pablo [&amp;#8230;]</itunes:summary>
&amp; is OK (you shouldn't have an ampersand by itself) but #8230 is an ellipsis and iTunes will not handle this - you should just replace it with three full stops...
None of this is likely to affect the issue you are seeing. I'm afraid I can't help further; you could try asking in the iPhone forum where someone with one of these devices may be able to check and advise.

  • Latest episode not showing up in "unplayed" for anyone

    Hey there!
When I released an episode of my podcast I noticed that the number of listeners where relatively low. Then I noticed that the episode didn't show up as "Unplayed" in the Podcaster app and instead the episode was only to be found in the "Feed"-tab. Thus, no notification for the new episode showed up for my listeners, making them rather unaware of a new episode being released. I've examined the issue on several devices and it seems to be the same all over.
    What is wrong?
    Thank you!

  • Artwork and episode not showing in iTunes

My podcast, the Dillon Gentry Podcast, was approved about two weeks ago and appeared in an iTunes search within days, however the artwork and episode doesn't display. The default image appears and It says there is one item but nothing is listed. If you subscribe to the podcast, everything pops up and looks and plays perfectly. The feed, images, and episode are hosted on a godaddy account. I have validated the feed and it looks good. The feed is http://dev.dillongentry.com/podcast.xml
I am guessing it is a matter of waiting it out, but I appreciate any insight on this one... I can't figure it out. Thanks!

You've fallen over a long-standing and intermittent bug in the Store where it claims to be showing the correct number of items but in fact either isn't showing any or isn't showing all of them, although all the episodes appear when subscribing. There isn't really anything you can do about this yourself as the problem lies with the Store, not your feed. It usually sorts itself out in a few days, but it's worth emailing Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and asking them to re-index your podcast as this may speed things up.
At least the image is now showing.

  • Old podcast episodes not showing?

For some reason, my podcast 'Growth Everywhere' has the latest episodes showing but I can't see the old ones.
    My feedburner feed is here:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/GrowthEverywhere
^-- I can see that it only goes up to a certain point in feedburner and my old posts are missing. Not sure what to do here.

One of the quickest solutions you could make would be to switch over feedburner to point to your libsyn feed as your source feed.  This would give you the most reliable source feed and ellimante issue you might be getting from wordpress managed feeds - which are the responsible for the biggest number of issues on the iTunes forums. I will follow up with you via email on more info.

  • New episodes not showing up in iTunes Music Store

Hi I'm trying to figure out why new episodes of our podcast don't show up on our iTunes Music Store Page in iTunes.
The last episode listed on the page is from October 29, 2006 even though there are episodes in the feed as recent as April 1, 2007. Once you click "subscribe" and go to the "podcasts" section of iTunes, you can see all the episodes, they just don't show up in the iTunes music store page.
    The feed is at:
    http://www.uusf.org/AboutUUSF/SermonArchive/RSS/UUSF_Sermons.xml
    Any help is appreciated. -Steve

OK, I got it to work by running the feed through
feedvalidator and fixing all the errors. The wierd
thing is that the xml file was created by a program
called RSSBuddy, so it shouldn't have been messed up.
Interesting. I suspect that the XML parser used by the iTunes Store is fussier than the iTunes software itself!
I guess I need to find a new program for editing the
    RSS feed. Any recommendations?
If you're on a Mac then Podcast Maker is a great choice. For Windows there's a product made by Feed4All.
    Cheers,
    Greg.
