Episodes repeatedly download

I downloaded a full season of Tudors. I have watched them all. NOW.. I am downloading Carnivale Season2 (or trying to)and every time I try, ALL of the Tudors episodes start downloading again. I deleted them from my Itunes and my pc because now Im getting errors for disk is full, then I go to download Carnivale again and again Tudors is downloading. (I have deleted them from my pc and my itunes 3 times now) I am not able to make them stop from downloading whenever I make a new purchase.

Itunes has been contacted. They removed those files from my cue. Now that solved that issue but if I ever want to watch them again I will have to repurchase I guess.

I can no longer manually select podcast episodes to download. It automatically downloads the most recent. I have been downloading a few past episodes at a time due to limited memory of my Shuffle. Is there a work-around for this?

Similar problem here. My Ical refuses to edit or delete events. Viewing is possible, though sometimes the whole screen turns grey. Adding new events from mail is still possible. The task-pane completely disappeared. My local apple technic-centre messed about with disk utility for a bit and than told me to reinstall leopard. I could of course do that, but it seems to me that reinstalling Leopard just to fix iCal events is a bit invasive.
I tried also tried removing everything, installing a new copy of iCal from the leopard-cd, software updates, all to no avail.
At the moment I'm open to all suggestions that do not include a complete leopard reinstall.

  • Java 1.6.0_3 Java web start causing repeated downloads of jar files

Has anyone else experienced the issue of repeated downloads of their jar files using 1.6.0 Update 3 ? This did not happen with previous versions. Looks like the way caching is done has changed with this update.
    Thanks,

JDK 6 used "if-modified-since" GET requests, whereas 1.5.0 and earlier use HEAD requests for the timestamp. You might want to check what server is returning for these requests.

  • Why is iTunes repeatedly downloading deleted podcasts?

    I'm using 10.5.3 / Snow Leopard.
I have podcasts from 2008 showing up in iTunes. They all started downloading again recently after updating iTunes. I canceled the downloads in progress, deleted the old podcasts, and checked my settings; that was two days ago. Today, I find myself having to delete old podcasts again.
Any ideas why this is happening or how to stop it? For the time being, I've adjusted my settings to manually check for new podcasts, hoping to catch it before they all start downloading again, but I prefer to have iTunes check automatically and remain updated accordingly.
    Thanks.

I had the same problem last night [Lion 10.7.3 / iTunes 10.5.3 (3)].
All podcasts were from NPR shows. All the way back to 2007, IIRC. Deleted them. Manually "Refreshed" a couple of hours later (my normal setting is manual check), and a few more appeared. Not as many as the first time. Today no past podcasts were shown, other than those I've saved.
Don't know what the deal is, though I seem to recall that there was a limit on how long Apple stored/made available podcasts (30, 60, ? days). Perhaps they just decided to make all podcasts permantly available. Kind of dumb without a search mechanism for episodes on their servers. Unless they expect us (the end users) to never delete episodes, whether downloaded, listened to, or, not. And scroll through years of podcasts to find the ones we kept. (I keep maybe 5% of the shows, the rest are deleted after listening).
Or maybe it was just a server hiccup.

If you click the Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option on your computer's iTunes does that download them and/or do they show in the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes (TV programmes won't show in all countries) ? If other TV programmes show there but not those then check to see if they are hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
If the above doesn't find any extra episodes (and I assume that there are more than those 4 episodes available in your country's store) then you could try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • I keep getting repeated downloads of the same email messages

I keep getting repeated download of the same emails sometimes within seconds of each other. I have to switch off my email to stop it. Has anyone a solution? It only happens on my Apple devices and not on my PC.

"I have contacted the email servers and because it is only happening on Apple devices they said it was a problem with apple."

  • Recently i started getting repeated download of the same email even after reading it and often after moving it to trash.

i have outlook accounts. sometimes it works properly. sometime i get repeat download on one account, sometimes two or rarely three. this is new within the past few weeks. i run win8.1 up to date. thunderbird is up to date. i have made no configuration changes on my thunderbird settings. this is driving me crazy. i use norton internet security. i tried turning off email scanning. made no difference. it seems that the only sure way is to empty my trash, which i like to delay. sometimes i don't have to empty the trash...

i continue to have this problem and it is driving me nuts. i get the same messages repeated. somehow there is a failure in communication between TB and my outlook account. everything seems to be configured appropriately.
your suggestion to uninstall TB and do a new install seems wise. i don't want to lose any saved messages, etc. is there an easy way to backup the TB data?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Multiple repeat downloads of applet jar file

We have an applet that is downloaded from a Weblogic server. The applet is packaged as a jar file. Some of the testers have been complaining that the applet is extremely slow to start up.
The applet start-up involves three phases. In a first phase, it fetches data from the server. This phase seems to execute in pretty much constant time. During the second and third phases, it constructs a UI using Swing objects. The UI includes some JPEG files, which are extracted from the applet's own jar file.
Testers report that the slow part of start-up is actually the UI setup. This should theoretically not be network-bound at all. But packet tracing reveals that during this phase, there's a large amount of network traffic going on. It turns out that there are multiple GET requests for the applet jar file being issued. Typically, 29 requests are issued in all; just for reference, the applet is required to extract 28 images from its jar file, so it looks as if the additional requests correspond to image requests.
One further detail: this does not occur where there is a fast connection to the server. In these cases, the applet is downloaded once. It looks as if the problem only occurs on slower network connections, and the speculation here is that the applet jar is somehow being downloaded only partially, so that requests for images somehow trigger a re-request of the jar file.
Has anyone seen anything similar and, more to the point, is there a fix or workaround?
Technical details: Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6.0, JRE version 1.4.2_01 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (on the client), WebLogic 8.1 (on the server)
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Ok.
I have been trying hard and found the solution. One of the ablove posting says that it works under java 1.4.1 plug-in. That's infact absolutely true. It also says that how to run client using JRE 1.4.2 or higher. That can be solved two. This is definitely a bug with the 1.4.2 plug-in.
Follow this procedure that will solve the mystry.
    ----------------------start ---------------------------------
    Problem
Download of applet is very slow
    Why?
This was happening because of the repeated download of the applet jars by the applet plug in controller. It is quite clear that the Java 1.4.2 plug in controller has a bug that causes the plug in to download same jar files multiple times irrespective of Jar cache in the client side (configurable from client side using the Java plug in control panel) is enabled or disabled. Therefore, we have moved from 1.4.2 plug in to 1.4.1 (controlled from our client (JSP) code) that works fine.
What the client (applet client) should do?
You must do the following in the client side in order to avoid the long download time for applet when running from a browser. We have also found that the browser actually do not matter in slow applet downloads. It is only the plug in that does control the applet download.
Irrespective of what JVM you have already installed (or not yet installed) please do the following:
    1. Download the JRE 1.4.2 from http://java.sun.com/products/archive/index.html
-At the time of its installation if it shows that the "JRE is already installed do you uninstall it?" Go ahead and uninstall the JRE 1.4.2. After the un-installation again install the JRE 1.4.2
-If it does not have the JRE 1.4.2 already installed, then you will see any warning window and you will be able to install the 1.4.2 JRE successfully.
    2. Now, go to the same link and install JRE 1.4.1.
-If this JRE already installed, uninstall first like the step 1 above. then reinstall it.
    3. Now, after successful installation of the JRE 1.4.1, open the Plug-In control panel.
-You will find the list of control panel(s) in the Start->Control Panel window. Use the control panel that shows the version number 1.4.1. If no version number shown then use the one that do not show any version number at its end.
    4. Do the following on the Plug-In control panel.
-Verify if this is the 1.4.1 plug in control panel? Go to the "About" tab to see if it shows 1.4.1.
If it does not show the 1.4.1 (or 1.4.1_x) then plug in was not installed correctly. Reinstall the 1.4.1 JRE following the step in no-2
-Go to "Basic" tab and select "Show console" radio button.
-Go to "Advanced" tab and from the drop down select "JRE ...1.4.2" from the "Java Runtime Environment" drop down box.
-Go to "Browser" tab and select all that in the "Settings" box applicable for browsers.
-Go to "Cache" select "Enable Caching" if it is not selected currently. Select "Unlimited" from "Size" options.
Now hit "Apply" button at the bottom and close the control panel using the 'X'.
    5. Restart your Windows machine.
    6. You are ready to run the applet from any of the browser (IE, NS, etc.)
