EPM 11.1.2.1 CLUSTER COMPLETE

Dear Gurus,
I need to install second instance on wintel boxes (distribuited: 1-weblogic/ohs application box, 2-services, 3-essbase, 4- IIS- FDM) same as first instance.
Products:
HPCM, Planning, FDM, FR, WA
I will need help on the following:
1) Does the EPM configures the load balancer for weblogic apps?
2) Only one WL domain for both instances or two?
3) Anything else I shoud keep in mind? Essbase active/passive clustering issues?
Thanks a lot in advance.
yannis

Go to http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epm_install_11121/frameset.htm?launch.html
Type clustering into the search.
Cheers

  • The cluster resource 'SQL Server' could not be brought online error while in completion stage of sql server 2012 failover installation

    While installing sql server 2012 with failover clustering I got the following error:
    The cluster resource 'SQL Server' could not be brought online. Error: There was a failure to call cluster code from a provider. Exception message: Generic failure. Status code: 5942. Description: The resource failed to come online due to the failure of one
    or more provider resources.
    The two nodes of the sql server failover have been successfully prepared. The error came while running the advance cluster completion option.
    In the clustered events in failover cluster manager the following message is displayed:
    Cluster resource 'SQL Network Name (CPCTestSQLClus)' of type 'Network name' in clustered role 'SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)' failed.
    I have done various checking and the issue remained. I tried to start the sql

    Please find below part of the content of the cluster log. I hope this is helpful in resolving the issue:

  • SharedServices and Workspace URL's are not working in EPM System 11.1.2.2

    Hello,
    SharedServices and Workspace URL's are not working in EPM System 11.1.2.2
    I have installed EPM system V11.1.2.2 in single server environment (MS 2008 Server R2) with following components:
    * Foundation Services
    * HFM
    * FDM
    Have used embedded Weblogic server as application web server and Oracle HTTP server as web server. The installation was successful.
    While configuration,
    1) I selected the option to deploy web applications SharedServices and Workspace to a single managed server. The applications got successfully deployed to EPMServer0.
    2) Also, I selected to configure Oracle HTTP server as web server.
    Both these steps were successful.
    But SharedServices and Workspace URL's are not working. Getting 404 error.
    SharedServices : http://inmum01hyp05.internal.vodafone.com:19000/interop/index.jsp
    Workspace : http://inmum01hyp05.internal.vodafone.com:19000/workspace/
    When I checked Weblogic admin console, EPMServer0 is in SHUTDOWN state, tried to start it but it goes in ADMIN state instead of RUNNING.
    Checked EPMServer0 log at "D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\servers\EPMServer0\logs" and found the error given at the end of this message.
    Can anyone please suggest a solution for this.

    Hi John,
    today's update:
    * Uninstalled EPM system V11.1.2.2 completely and after rebooting the server installed EPM system V11.1.2.2 again.
    * During configuration, deployed SharedServices and Workspace to single managed server EPMServer0 on Weblogic server and configured to Oracle HTTP server as web server. Configuration seems successful.
    * Started EPM system.
    * checked Weblogic admin console - EPMServer0 goes into ADMIN state from STARTING.
    * Checked EPMServer0 logs at "D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\servers\EPMServer0\logs" and found the error given below:

  • Adding more RAM to all 3 nodes in a hyperV failover cluster, re-validate config?

    No issues with 2012 R2 also. Just add the ram and you will be fine.

    hey spiceheads,
    I have a 3 server node hyper-v failover cluster running hyper-v server 2012 R2.
    two of the servers have 96gb and the other 120gb.  Going to even all three servers to 128gb.
    Once this is done do I need to re-validate?  If so, re-validation would take my cluster completely off-line, correct?
    Thanks,
    ceez

  • SCOM 2012 R2 installtion wizard not able to contact SQL server cluster

    Hi,
    This is about the error faced while installing SCOM 2012 R2.
    My customer has SQL 2012 SP1 cluster installed. I am trying to install the SCOM 2012 R2 with this installed SQL cluster. The SQL cluster is installed with default instance and with AAG (Always on Availability Group).
    The edition of SQL server is, SQL Server Enterprise edition with SP1
    After check services on both the SQL nodes found that SQL Full text is not installed (as the related SQL Full text service not present in the services.msc) on any of the SQL cluster node & SQL Browser service is not running.
    The running services for SQL are, SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) & SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER).
    When I started to install the SCOM 2012 R2, Within a SCOM 2012 wizard, On the Configure the Operational Database screen, entered only the name of SQL cluster & no instance as it is with default instance MSSQLSERVER.
    I faced error as, This SQL Server could not be found.
    After installed SQL full text, the service is showing in services.msc as "SQL Full-text Filter Daemon Launcher (MSSQLSERVER)".
    Now when I started to install the SCOM 2012 R2, Within a SCOM 2012 wizard, On the Configure the Operational Database screen, entered only the name of SQL cluster & no instance as it is with default instance MSSQLSERVER.
    I faced error as, The installed version of SQL Server could not be verified or is not supported.
    Followings test carried out for the connectivity between SCOM 2012 MS &SQL Cluster
    Ping SQL Cluster successfully
    Telnet SQL Cluster for port 1433 successfully
    Tracert SQL Cluster – completed successfully with single hops.
    The windows firewall is off on both sides
    The SQL services running on the Active node 1 of the cluster are as follows:
    SQL Full Text Filter Daemon Launcher (MSSQLSERVER) -- Running & Manual
    SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) -- Running & Automatic
    SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) -- Running & Automatic
    SQL serve Browser - Stopped & Manual
    SQL Server VSS Writer -- Running & Automatic
     The SQL services running on the Passive node 2 of the cluster are as follows:
    SQL Full Text Filter Daemon Launcher (MSSQLSERVER) -- Running & Manual
    SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) -- Running & Automatic
    SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) -- Stopped & Automatic
    SQL serve Browser - Stopped & Manual
    SQL Server VSS Writer -- Running & Automatic
    The SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) service is not running on the second node. It is running only on first node which is active.
    The account used to install SCOM has the local admin privilege on the SQL server
    To ping the cluster use the cluster name & it solved the whole FQDN of cluster in ping result. When ping with IP address with -a it not resolve to name.
    Is any one can provide their valuable inputs.
    Regards,
    SandeepK

    Hi SandeepK,
    Before Installing Operations Manager on an availability group, please
    1. Make sure to use the Group listener Name and port when installing Operations Manager for the databases that are going to be added to the availability databases.
    2. The first management server will use the Group listener to get the primary SQL instance, and will install the databases on that instance.

  • How to config the levels of backup for partioned cache?

    hi all,
    As coherence's document says, "Partitioned caches can be configured with as many levels of backup as desired, or zero if desired. Most installations use one backup copy (two copies total). ", could you pls. tell how? Great thanks!
    thanks,
    michael

    Hi Michael,
    there are several reasons on why it is usually recommended to have at least 3 nodes:
    1. When a single node fails, Coherence after a short time (after the rebalance of the cluster completes) gets itself into a state which again is capable of surviving a single error (data is still backed up at least once). If there is only two nodes, and only one of them remains, this is obviously not possible.
    2. Some of Coherence's protocols for determining what should happen after a cluster node becomes inaccessible behave differently when there are at least 3 nodes (majority wins), whereas when 2 nodes can't communicate with each other, none of them can determine which is faulty.
    As for backup count:
    Total memory consumption without overhead in the cluster is roughly (1+backupcount)*dataset-size + 1 * index-size.
    I believe backup count larger than the number of nodes does not have any additional effect, each node will store only a single copy of the data.
    BR,
    Robert

  • User equivalence in RAC

    This is a question regarding resetting the user equivalence on clustered hosts. Our company has a 3-node 10.2.0.3 RAC cluster running CRS w/ an ASM system for the DB (Linux64). I just finished rebuilding our Grid Control deployment on a new host (bringing it up to 10.2.0.5) and have been steadily redeploying the agents. The last boxes on the list were those associated with the production RAC cluster. During installation, you have the option to install to all 3 nodes simultaneously from a single node, however when I attempted this, I was informed that password-less ssh communication between the 3 nodes was not available. Not a big problem since I just went through the installs on each box locally and each host and its targets are now reporting to the Grid Control quite well. It even properly detects that the database is clustered.
    However, a Grid critical alert continues to inform me that "User equivalence unavailable on all the nodes", and I decided to investigate the possibilities of rectifying this. Initially I tried copying appropriate files out of the ~/.ssh directory to other boxes, but that's when I discovered that the keys had been pass-phrased and neither myself nor the other DBA here know what that pass-phrase is (accurate, centrally managed password management was something I put in place when I arrived to prevent this very thing going forward - thank you KeePass)
    My initial thought was to figure out which boxes currently interact with the RAC boxes, and then regenerate the keys per [note 300548.1|300548.1]. Now, I've only been working with RAC for 6 months since I switched jobs, so while I'm getting more comfortable with the tech, there's still a lot I haven't explored thus far, and we don't have a test RAC environment for me to just start trying things (it's in the pipe). The other DBA here has more experience with RAC, but hasn't actually set one up, so neither of us knows for sure what the full ramifications of resetting the keys might be. Could this effect CRS negatively or is it using its own connections through ports on the private network addresses? Aside from non-clustered boxes needing their keys updated, are there any other considerations we should be thinking about?
    Thanks!

    "User equivalence unavailable on all the nodes"After install Oracle RAC and you create phrase key (have password), you'll find it. You can ignore after install Cluster completely
    But when you use "cluvfy" or etc... about RAC (dbca/netca)
    you have to
    $ exec /usr/bin/ssh-agent $SHELL
    $ /usr/bin/ssh-add
    on metalink 300548.1, they try to told us... create key with no password
    $ ssh-keygen -t rsa
    Now accept the default location for the key file
    Enter and confirm a passphrase. (you can also press enter twice).
    $ ssh-keygen -t dsa
    Now accept the default location for the key file
    Enter and confirm a passphrase. (you can also press enter twice).
    So, When we use cluvfy" or etc... (with creating key with no password), we don't run "ssh-agent $SHELL" ...
    and I think You'll not find "User equivalence unavailable on all the nodes" as well.

  • Scheduling scp through crontab in Solaris

    Hi All,
    I am trying to schedule the scp command in crontab in solaris production environment. It asks me to type the password seperately. Is there a way to schedule the scp without any interrupts like providing passwords.
    If there is any script can you kindly share it with me.
    Can anyone kindly help me please.
    Warm regards,

    To configure SSH, complete the following:
    D.1.2.1 Create SSH Directory, and Create SSH Keys On Each Node
    Complete the following steps on each node:
    Log in as the software owner (in this example, the grid user).
    To ensure that you are logged in as grid, and to verify that the user ID matches the expected user ID you have assigned to the grid user, enter the commands id and id grid. Ensure that Oracle user group and user and the user terminal window process you are using have group and user IDs are identical. For example:
    $ id
    uid=502(grid) gid=501(oinstall) groups=501(oinstall),502(grid,asmadmin,asmdba)
    $ id grid
    uid=502(grid) gid=501(oinstall) groups=501(oinstall),502(grid,asmadmin,asmdba)
    If necessary, create the .ssh directory in the grid user's home directory, and set permissions on it to ensure that only the oracle user has read and write permissions:
    $ mkdir ~/.ssh
    $ chmod 700 ~/.ssh
    Note:
    SSH configuration will fail if the permissions are not set to 700.
    Enter the following command:
    $ /usr/bin/ssh-keygen -t dsa
    At the prompts, accept the default location for the key file (press Enter).
    Note:
    SSH with passphrase is not supported for Oracle Clusterware 11g release 2 and later releases.
    This command writes the DSA public key to the ~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub file and the private key to the ~/.ssh/id_dsa file.
    Never distribute the private key to anyone not authorized to perform Oracle software installations.
    Repeat steps 1 through 4 on each node that you intend to make a member of the cluster, using the DSA key.
    D.1.2.2 Add All Keys to a Common authorized_keys File
    Complete the following steps:
    On the local node, change directories to the .ssh directory in the Oracle grid infrastructure owner's home directory (typically, either grid or oracle).
    Then, add the DSA key to the authorized_keys file using the following commands:
    $ cat id_dsa.pub >> authorized_keys
    $ ls
    In the .ssh directory, you should see the id_rsa.pub keys that you have created, and the file authorized_keys.
    On the local node, use SCP (Secure Copy) or SFTP (Secure FTP) to copy the authorized_keys file to the oracle user .ssh directory on a remote node. The following example is with SCP, on a node called node2, with the Oracle grid infrastructure owner grid, where the grid user path is /home/grid:
    [grid@node1 .ssh]$ scp authorized_keys node2:/home/grid/.ssh/
    You are prompted to accept a DSA key. Enter Yes, and you see that the node you are copying to is added to the known_hosts file.
    When prompted, provide the password for the grid user, which should be the same on all nodes in the cluster. The authorized_keys file is copied to the remote node.
    Your output should be similar to the following, where xxx represents parts of a valid IP address:
    [grid@node1 .ssh]$ scp authorized_keys node2:/home/grid/.ssh/
    The authenticity of host 'node2 (xxx.xxx.173.152) can't be established.
    DSA key fingerprint is 7e:60:60:ae:40:40:d1:a6:f7:4e:zz:me:a7:48:ae:f6:7e.
    Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yes
    Warning: Permanently added 'node1,xxx.xxx.173.152' (dsa) to the list
    of known hosts
    grid@node2's password:
    authorized_keys 100% 828 7.5MB/s 00:00
    Using SSH, log in to the node where you copied the authorized_keys file. Then change to the .ssh directory, and using the cat command, add the DSA keys for the second node to the authorized_keys file, clicking Enter when you are prompted for a password, so that passwordless SSH is set up:
    [grid@node1 .ssh]$ ssh node2
    [grid@node2 grid]$ cd .ssh
    [grid@node2 ssh]$ cat id_dsa.pub >> authorized_keys
    Repeat steps 2 and 3 from each node to each other member node in the cluster.
    When you have added keys from each cluster node member to the authorized_keys file on the last node you want to have as a cluster node member, then use scp to copy the authorized_keys file with the keys from all nodes back to each cluster node member, overwriting the existing version on the other nodes.
    To confirm that you have all nodes in the authorized_keys file, enter the command more authorized_keys, and determine if there is a DSA key for each member node. The file lists the type of key (ssh-dsa), followed by the key, and then followed by the user and server. For example:
    ssh-dsa AAAABBBB . . . = grid@node1
    Note:
    The grid user's /.ssh/authorized_keys file on every node must contain the contents from all of the /.ssh/id_dsa.pub files that you generated on all cluster nodes.
    D.1.3 Enabling SSH User Equivalency on Cluster Nodes
    After you have copied the authorized_keys file that contains all keys to each node in the cluster, complete the following procedure, in the order listed. In this example, the Oracle grid infrastructure software owner is named grid:
    On the system where you want to run OUI, log in as the grid user.
    Use the following command syntax, where hostname1, hostname2, and so on, are the public hostnames (alias and fully qualified domain name) of nodes in the cluster to run SSH from the local node to each node, including from the local node to itself, and from each node to each other node:
    [grid@nodename]$ ssh hostname1 date
    [grid@nodename]$ ssh hostname2 date
    For example:
    [grid@node1 grid]$ ssh node1 date
    The authenticity of host 'node1 (xxx.xxx.100.101)' can't be established.
    DSA key fingerprint is 7z:60:60:zz:48:48:z1:a0:f7:4e.
    Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yes
    Warning: Permanently added 'node1,xxx.xxx.100.101' (DSA) to the list of
    known hosts.
    Mon Dec 4 11:08:13 PST 2006
    [grid@node1 grid]$ ssh node1.example.com date
    The authenticity of host 'node1.example.com (xxx.xxx.100.101)' can't be
    established.
    DSA key fingerprint is 7z:60:60:zz:48:48:z1:a0:f7:4e.
    Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yes
    Warning: Permanently added 'node1.example.com,xxx.xxx.100.101' (DSA) to the
    list of known hosts.
    Mon Dec 4 11:08:13 PST 2006
    [grid@node1 grid]$ ssh node2 date
    Mon Dec 4 11:08:35 PST 2006
    At the end of this process, the public hostname for each member node should be registered in the known_hosts file for all other cluster nodes.
    If you are using a remote client to connect to the local node, and you see a message similar to "Warning: No xauth data; using fake authentication data for X11 forwarding," then this means that your authorized keys file is configured correctly, but your SSH configuration has X11 forwarding enabled. To correct this issue, proceed to "Setting Display and X11 Forwarding Configuration".
    Repeat step 2 on each cluster node member.

  • Clustering clarification needed please ....

    i am working on webcenter content clustering .
    i have to hosts (host1 and host2 ) ,
    -installed weblogic and UCM on both hosts with the same directory structure .
    -create domain in host 1 ,add a cluster ,complete everything and start ucm on host 1 ,then i used pack and unpack utility to copy domain config from host1 to host 2 .
    -start ucm on both hosts ,add document using ucm on host 1 and i can search for it from host 2 .
    now ,this is called active -active clustering right ? ??
    my managers needs my cluster to work as follow :
    if any user where working on ucm (host1) and something goes wrong with ucm on host1 ,clients should be able to continue their work using ucm on host 2 .without reloading the page .
    -is this possible with active active clustering ? which product will control this ?
    -another question please ,the cluster ware is on host 1 ,so if anything goes wrong with host one ,then whole cluster will be down right ???? so what is the best scenario to do this ?
    -and http server ,what it can help in clustering ?
    some clustering expert explain these points to me please ,i am reading but not able to connect things together well !!!
    thanks in advance .....

    First, I will assume that your architecture is as follows:
    Host 1 - Running two weblogic server instances (AdminServer and UCM_Server1)
    Host 2 - Running one weblogic server instance (UCM_Server2)
    Now, when you open the WebLogic console, you should see that both UCM_Server1 and UCM_Server2 are part of the same cluster.
    Since you will have your UCM application deployed to the cluster (UCM_Server1 and UCM_Server2), it should be available and running on both the managed servers.
    And this is exactly what clustering means, the user will be able to continue their work on server2 when failed over from server1
    In weblogic we only have active-active clustering and your requirement is the typical usecase of a cluster
    While the continuation of the work is controlled by the replication activity between the managed servers (UCM_Server1 and UCM_Server2) which occurs in the background, the actual failover needs to be performed by the WebServer.
    WebServer significance:
    Let's say we did not have a WebServer, in the browser when you provide a URL to access the application, it will look as below:
    http://UCM_Server1sIPorDNS:Port/ucm
    Now, what will happen if host1 is down or UCM_Server1 is down, your browser will not know where to go to and user will also realize that a backend server has failed, which we do not want to happen.
    So, the ideal architecture is
    Client (Browser) --> WebServer (OHS) --> WebLogicServer (UCM_Server1 OR UCM_Server2)
    In this case, the URL in the browser will be the WebServer URL.
    http://WebServerIPorDNS:Port/ucm
    Now, even when UCM_Server1 is down, client will never know as the webserver will automatically failover the request to UCM_Server2.
    Since, UCM_Server1 and UCM_server2 are in a cluster, the session information is available in UCM_Server2 for the request/transaction to continue from where it stopped processing on UCM_Server1
    ONE MORE CLARIFICATION:
    If you understood the above clarification, you will realize that cluster is virtual (not a physical process).
    So, even if host1 goes down, there is no issue as UCM_Server2 (part of the cluster) will continue to serve the request of the appication.
    WebServer will migrate/failover all the user requests that are being currently served by UCM_Server1
    NOTE: It is recommended to run your webserver (if you are using a single webserver only) on a host other than the hosts running the UCM servers.
    Hope this helps to answer your queries.
    Please let me know if you have any further questions

  • How to see total number of protected documents by ADRMS?

    Hello,
    I am planning to decommission the on premises ADRMS cluster completely and enable 365 based RMS (since
    migration is not possible),
    Is their a way for me to see the total number of protected documents by ADRMS.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hold off on that. Migration is just around the corner.
    There is not a good way to identify how many documents are protected since you can do offline publishing (server contact is not required)

  • Linux server logs Cluster Ready Services completed waiting on dependencies

    hi all
    we run oracle 10g RAC on two nodes of SLES 10 SP2 Itanium.
    on node 1 of the db node I see this message.
    Mar 13 15:35:03 odbs1 logger: Cluster Ready Services completed waiting on dependencies.
    This message has appeared for the second time in 3 days. the server is behaving normally. Could someone please let me know what exactly is the cause.
    i tried to google a bit but i am not an expert in RAC
    Could someone please let me know if this is a major issue or is it a generic message for something

    Hi,
    It means that the CRS not came up on startup and you put it online manualy.
    Check your ocssd.log for messages like it
    [ CSSD]2007-09-13 15:43:00.038 [1147169120] >TRACE: clsc_send_msg: (0x7271b0) NS err(12571, 12560), transport (530, 113, 0)
    If they exists, the explanation is: The network on OS startup is slower than CRS and the CRS cannot communicate with others nodes with interconnect. To avoid split brain problem, it kills himself causing automatic start of CRS fails.
    This problem could be solved add a sleep on /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/SXXXinit.crs before line $ID/init.cssd autostart. Try sleep 15, sleep 20 and test restart of node.
    You can see it on My Oracle Suporte note ID 459169.1
    I hope it helps!!

  • Failed to send start signal for complete cluster, SLD may still be stopped.

    Hello,
    I am trying to create technical systems in the SLD on the portal (http://host:port/sld). It prompts me to start the SLD server by going to Administration.
    When I click the button "Start Server" under Administration, I get this following error message:
    "Failed to send start signal for complete cluster, SLD may still be stopped on other cluster nodes."
    Can you please tell me what has to be done to successfully start the SLD server so that I can go ahead and add technical systems.
