EPM System Configrator........

Dear Friend,
i have install Hyperion system 11.1.1.3 successful.But when i start the EPM system configrator it will show the following error:
The system cannot find the path specified.
"JAVA_HOME is not set"
"Exiting"
After that i'll set JAVA_HOME in the Environment variable
JAVA_HOME
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_17\bin
After setting the environment variable run the system configrator again but now nothing is display.
Plz share your Exp. with me..

2. I remember , there was one issue with initial versions of 11, where java folder use to disappear

SharedServices and Workspace URL's are not working in EPM System 11.1.2.2
I have installed EPM system V11.1.2.2 in single server environment (MS 2008 Server R2) with following components:
* Foundation Services
* HFM
* FDM
Have used embedded Weblogic server as application web server and Oracle HTTP server as web server. The installation was successful.
While configuration,
1) I selected the option to deploy web applications SharedServices and Workspace to a single managed server. The applications got successfully deployed to EPMServer0.
2) Also, I selected to configure Oracle HTTP server as web server.
Both these steps were successful.
But SharedServices and Workspace URL's are not working. Getting 404 error.
SharedServices : http://inmum01hyp05.internal.vodafone.com:19000/interop/index.jsp
Workspace : http://inmum01hyp05.internal.vodafone.com:19000/workspace/
When I checked Weblogic admin console, EPMServer0 is in SHUTDOWN state, tried to start it but it goes in ADMIN state instead of RUNNING.
Checked EPMServer0 log at "D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\servers\EPMServer0\logs" and found the error given at the end of this message.
Can anyone please suggest a solution for this.

today's update:
* Uninstalled EPM system V11.1.2.2 completely and after rebooting the server installed EPM system V11.1.2.2 again.
* During configuration, deployed SharedServices and Workspace to single managed server EPMServer0 on Weblogic server and configured to Oracle HTTP server as web server. Configuration seems successful.
* Started EPM system.
* checked Weblogic admin console - EPMServer0 goes into ADMIN state from STARTING.
* Checked EPMServer0 logs at "D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\servers\EPMServer0\logs" and found the error given below:

11.1.2.3 Essbase Admin Server stopped ??? where is the EPM System Registry located

Whereis the Location of the EPM System Registry !!!!
I have complete the .3 install and config of essbase and Planning completely set planing, made a snapshot of my VMware system and shut down the server
this morning logon to my Laptop Started EPM system
and now my Essbase Administation Server
EPM System Registry configuration.r / Localhost:900 = Stopped
I Restarted my EPMSystem then
stop and started Essbase Administation Server
but it is stated it was stopped
went to

EPM system security is not initialized properly

Hi,
We are in the process of installing 11.1.2.2 on Windows 2008 server.
Step 1. we installed Foundation Service, Reporting and FM
Step2. 1st did configuration of foundation service and Performance Management Architect
Result - Successful. Was able to login to workspace ans shared service
Step 3. 2nd we Configured Financial Management.
Configuration was successful.
All services are running but we are not able to login into workspace.
We are geting following error in log file of HyS9EPMServer
"EPM system security is not initialized properly"
Any help will be appreciated.

We did run Foundation Service --> Configure Web Server after configuring HFM module. It was susccessful.
After that we run "Start EPM System". Then everything stopped.
While installing HFM in 2nd leg on "Configure Database" screen we selected "Perform first-time configuration of database".
Entered username HFM.
We noticed that after installation EPMSystemRegistry-jdbc got changed.
Path is C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\config\jdbc\EPMSystemRegistry-jdbc.xml
<value>HSS</value> got changed to <value>HFM</value>
I are not sure but I think we should have selected "Connect to a previously configured database".
I am going to install it again and will update the forum.

EPM System Configurator Error

Hi,
I am trying to open EPM System Configurator but getting error:
"The Vital Product Data registry is in use by another installer. Please start this installer after the other installtion is complete."
I am not installing the EPM system. It is already installed. I am just trying to open EPM System Configurator by Start--All Programs--EPM System--Foundation Services-- Start EPM System Configurator
I am not running any othe installer. I tried restarting the system also but again I am getting the same error.
Please help me with this error.

Weblogic 9.2 MP3 Issue with EPM System 11.1.1.3

Hi,
I am currently running into issues when trying to configure Shared Services via the EPM System Configurator 11.1.1.3. I've installed Weblogic 9.3 MP3 with all of the default options (including establishing Node Manager as a service). I've also created a seperate userId in Weblogic called hyperion (with the password of hyperion) so that EPM can access the instance against the default web server.
When I run the configurator to try and deploy to application server, the status sits there on the "Starting WebLogic 9 Admin Servers" and does nothing.
Sometimes is does get past that but then the deployment fails because it is unable to deply the interop.war.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm 100% stuck!

Hi Experts,
I have Installed EPM 11.1.2.1 with ESSBASE,HFM,PLANNING,FDQM.While Iam going for launching the Epm system Configurator it is unable to launch for Configuration.It is throwing error like
Fatal Error:Windows\System32\system32 not present in path wait for 30....
Please give me suggestions in detail becuase i am new to this Epm 11.1.2.1 Installation

Just looking the issue and needed some more information to know the cause...
Have you installed HFM 11.1.2.1 for 32 bit or 64 bit ?
If you have installed 32 bit... than have created environment variables as defined in installation guide.

hello everone ,
Q. 1 can I know safe restarting order for epm systems in distributed environment where I have 7 servers which have different epm applications.
and in which order i should start services ?
version is hyperion 11.1.2.1
Q. 2 also I am getting this error while refreshing database from planning application.
com.hyperion.planning.olap.EssbaseException: Network error [%s]: Cannot Receive Data (1042013)
this error came on 16th step. any hints on this , how to overcome this error ?

Check the essbase logs for the reason behind the refresh problem.

Problem to config :Hyperion EPM system configuratior 11.1.1.3

I installed all the components 11.1.1.3
In Foundation service->EPM system configurator->second screen
I gave oracle database information to config the shared service and registry database configuration and some tables are created in the database after that it is not going to next screen..
The screen shows it is in processing more that 1 hour.....I am not able to proceed...
Kindly advice me on this.
I can able to connected the database thorugh sqlplus which I gave above.
What may be the issue? or any one did config through Fountation service in 11.1.1.3 version.

Hello everyone,
I am encountering the same issue as depicted within initial post: when starting with the configuration of EPM product I am stuck at screen 'Shared services and registry database configuration': after the different fields are filled in (Database Type, Server, Port, Service Name or SID, Username, Password) I hit the button 'Next'.
Then the configuration is running for ages (more than a couple of hours) but is going nowhere.
For your information here is the context:
- OS: Windows Vista Enterprise Edition
- Database: Oracle Express 10g
Installation scope: Hyperion Planning
When browsing into the C:\Hyperion\logs\config folder I notice that some log files exist but were created the day before so no new files recently updated here.
When having a look into the EPM System Configurator CMD window I can see a few error messages like:
- java.io.FileNotFoundException: ..\..\..\logs\config\configtool_err.log (Access is denied)
- java.io.FileNotFoundException: ..\..\..\logs\config\cmc-config.log (Access is denied)
- java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Hyperion\logs\registry\registry.log (Access is denied)
This probably explains the reason why I am not able to see anything in the log file (if they can not be accessed) but I do not understand why the are not accessible since I have full access rights (did a left click and >properties>securities and made sure that the administror had all possible rights).
Any input warmly appreciated.

EPM system security externalize

Hi Masters,
Recently I have setup EPM system 11.1.2.4 for Essbase on my servers. As you all know this version doesn't support for standalone Essbase security and by default all the users/ groups would be maintained through shared services, I have a stupid doubt here,.... what is the purpose of having the option 'Externalize users' still in EAS? is it like we need to do 'externalize users' as soon as we installed and configured the Essbase and EAS?.
Please, help me in understanding this point.

Yes you are correct they are automatically externalized so there is not really point in having the option in EAS anymore, I am sure it will be removed in the future.

Users assigning in EPM System Security mode

Hi,
I installed and Configured EPM 11.1.2 on Unix operating system successfully.
After configuring the Essbase Components configured the external user directory:Microsoft Active directory and changed the Security from Essbase mode to Shared services mode.
My question is I am able to view only Native users as username@Nativedirectory not Active Directory users as username@MSAD in EAS console under list of users even after provisioning them to Essbase Server from Shared Services Console.How can I provision them to view through EAS Console?
At the same time I am unable to view through EAS console the list of users(Native Directory +Active Directory) assigned to a Native directory Group created in Shared Services Console.
Can any one share your inputs on the same.

EPM System Installer Prerequisites, 11.1.1.1

I am starting to install version 11.
The Hyperion EPM System Installer Prerequisites shows an error on the first installer screen:
"Hostname resolved to an IP address".
Did anyone face this error?
I´ve checked the help button and found following tip:
"If you are using a hosts file to resolve your hostname, the host name resolves to the first entry in your hosts file. To prevent potential communication problems in a distributed environment, make sure that the first entry in your hosts file is the machine's fully qualified domain name so that the fully qualified name is stored in the Shared Services Registry."
How can I resolve this issue on my virtuell mashine?

We've seen this as well - and the web client is not supported in IE 9 - it's only supported in: Internet Explorer 6.0, , Internet Explorer 7.x, Internet Explorer 8.x, and Firefox 2.0.x.
Considering that IE 9 is being pushed out as an automatically selected important update and Firefox is up to v4.x (Firefox 2.0.x is not even supported anymore), this has already caused us a huge headache.

How to redeploy planning application using EPM System Configurator

Can you please let me know how to redeploy planning application using EPM system Configurator.
I am applying a patch to ver 11.1.2.0 and i need to redeploy the planning app as one of the steps.

Run the EPM configurator, expand planning and select "Deploy to Application Server", if it is a distributed environment and planning is not on the same server as the WebLogic admin server you will need to start the Admin Server

EPM System Configurator runs for hours

Hi experts.
Have you ever experienced that your EPM system configurator runs for hours?
I have an 11.1.2.1 installation, and a few months ago, I applied a Reporting & Analysis patch which requires a redeploy of FR, framework and web analysis.
The redeployment took more than 1 hour 20 minutes when it usually takes around 10 minutes.

I checked the CPU and memory log at the time of the deployment, things seem to be normal.
Since i will be applying another patch on Reporting & Analysis soon, I am preparing the work plan and rundowns and I am trying to estimate how much time I need to do this patch.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I did some researches on my own and found out some article saying the following:

On page 103, it says something about the cluster or IPv6 problem. I don't think the IPv6 is our problem, and I couldn't find the log inside of my configtool log.

If it only happened once and then all the other occasions it was fine then what is to say it will happen again? I am not sure how easily you are going to find your answer to why it happened on that occasion, I know I was deploying a web application the other day and it took 30 mins when it should only take a few but this was on a shared vm infrastructure which could have been the cause.
