EPM V11.1.1.2.0

I installed and configured EPM V11.1.1.2.0 on a laptop with XP Professional, ran the EPM system Diagnostic and all came back successful, yet when I start Essbase server, Admin they crash.
The Oracle Hyperion config /troubleshooter guide has not provided any conclusive answers to the problem. Any suggestions ?

I'm grasping straws probably but not having found a valid reason for the EAS Admin console not connecting to the admin server what do you think of the following msgs from the Essbase command prompt ? I started the service from 'Start' > All Programs instead of Windows Service. I brought up the Admin console but did not attempt signon yet it says logout on 'admin'
Does the log4j warning have any impact ?

1st step, insert a IF statement in Rule Designer;
2nd step, Shift to code editor, as follows code:

I found the answer in the Oracle Essbase Admin guide. If the default connect port to the server is changed to a different port value then the new port value has to be specified during the logon as <server name:portnumber>. This is necessary even if the server.xml has the new port value. If not the system will respond with the the 'unable to connect' msg.

EPM v11.1.2.3-suggestion needed

Our client is using older version of Hyperion Enterprise for their financial consolidation and reporting.
They are planning to implement latest version of Hyperion so we suggsted them to go for HFM v11.1.2.3 latest version.
I have few questions and need couple of suggestions from all you experts :-
1. They have source system as JD Edwards in place and they wanted to integrate data integration with HFM.Have we suggseted them correct version,to migrate from Enterprise to HFM 11.1.2.3 ?
2. What modules should we suggest them to implement in a greenfield implementation ,mostly in terms of data integration: FDM or FDMEE? What is more appropriate,on what basis should we decide that .

With regard to your queries, please find below some of the key points to be noted
1. As Hyperion Enterprise system is having limited number of dimensions and on the other hand Hyperion Financial Management system has the capability to handle unlimited number of dimensions to accomodate customer specific business requirements in the financial reporting application as much as possible. First of all we need to understand the business requirements and also client should be aware of HFM 11.1.2.3 features so that they can utilize the software features to a maximum extent. If the customer is expecting major changes in terms of metadata structure before implementing into HFM system, kindly design the application structure as per HFM product features
2. Coming to the requirement for data integration, older versions of FDM can be used as well. If we use FDMEE, then we can integrate Metadata and Data from source system like JD Edwards to Hyperion Financial Management system. Most preferable to use FDMEE as it has very good features to streamline the data and metadata integration.

Unable to connect to Sybase databases in EPM V11

Hello,
I have installed EPM 11 on a linux rel 5 x64 machine and able to connect to Oracle dbs but having problems with sybase databases. Checked the odbc.ini that it is pointing to the right files. I have tried to start, stop and restart the Data access service, defined using ODBC and Sybase System but nothing seems to help.
I get the folling error in html and the 2018 error in the IR web client.
An Interactive Reporting Service error has occurred.-Failed to acquire requested service.
Error Code: 2001
The Oracle db connections seemed to be fine. Sybase connections using isql are fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had that problem for almost a year, both with a Linksys router and with a Netgear router. Finally purchased a Belkin router (the N1 Vision, which we absolutely love!) and have not had the problem one single time since - in over 3 months. I did a lot of reading on the Linksys and Netgear forums and found that a lot of people were having the same problem. I have a new problem though, about 2 months ago my TouchSmart began to tell me I don't have a wireless network adapter installed - I typically have to reboot it anywhere from 7-13 times before it will recognize it. Any ideas or similar problems with that situation?

•     Report under each folder and their location of the file system

HFM 11.1.2.2 in EPM 11.1.2.1 Environment

Can HFM v11.1.2.2 be installed and used in an EPM v11.1.2.1 environment?
My company recently upgraded to EPM v11.1.2.1 (Essbase) and is now looking at installing HFM. However, they prefer the features of HFM v11.1.2.2, not HFM v11.1.2.1.
Questions
1) Does the entire EPM architecture need to be uplifted to v11.1.2.2 to support newer HFM?
2) If so, is this a patching exercise? Complete reinstall? How complex?
3) Does newer HFM version work in slightly older EPM architecture? Supported by Oracle?
Any guidance or comments would be appreciated.

Yes. The entire EPM system need to be upgraded to 11.1.2.2
from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 is a Maintenance Release. that is when you run the EPM system installer you need to select " apply maintenance release"
for information.

Install EPM 11.1.1.3 on solaris express 11

Hi all,
I tried to install Essbase v11 on solaris express 11 (in virtualbox) and it stopped during first step...
Package :
I copied *.zip with root user
I unzip all files with root user
I changed owner to oracle user (chown -R oracle *...)
System :
I created /home/oracle/.hyperion.solaris with "HYPERION_HOME" folder
I check javac -version : javac 1.6.0_21
$PATH : /usr/gnu/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin
I executed in current forlder : ./installTool.sh -console
Result :
oracle@solaris:/temp_EPM$ ./installTool.sh -console
./installTool.sh[33]: ./jre/solaris/1.6.0/bin/java: ./jre/solaris/1.6.0/bin/java: cannot execute [Invalid argument]
Could some explain me how to install EPM v11 on solaris platform ?

Installing EPM 11.1.2.2 Using windows 7 familly edition premium

Hi all,
I want to install EPM 11.1.1.2 on my personnal PC, so I can learn Hyperion. The pre install check tell me errors as follow:
EPMINS-01094: User Account Control is enabled. Installation may lead to unpredictable results and thus will be stopped.
EPMINS-01098: User has to be a member of Administrators group.
I have an admin account and I don't know how to unable UAC. What should I do ?

Installing EPM v11.1.2.1 fails with the error:

EPMINS-01001: One or more preinstallation checks failed. Correct the errors before continuing with the installation.
Cause
User Account Control is enabled.
Solution
Per the EPM Installation Start Here Guide, "Prepare a user account", User Account Control must be disabled.
This can be done through User Accounts in Control Panel by clicking on Change User Account Control Settings, then drag the slider to Never notify.
This can also be accomplished using the following steps:
1. Click Start -> Control Panel.
2. In Control Panel, click User Accounts.
3. In the User Accounts window, click User Accounts.
4. In the User Accounts tasks window, click "Turn User Account Control on or off."
5. Uncheck the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer", and then click OK.
6. Click Restart Now to apply the change right away, or click Restart Later and close the User Accounts tasks window.
This change requires a reboot of the Windows 2008 Server.

EPM 11.1.1.4 Migration Utility

By running Migration Utility 11.1.1.4 will this move all content from old Hyperion PerformaceSuite to new EPM workspace or is this just copy/paste
and Old HPS will still have the content? (Copy/Paste or Cut/Paste)?

Yes , Using the migration utility.. You can transfer the users, groups ,roles and also the Repository Files to the EPM v11.. As per oracle recomendation, run the migration utility seperately for each step.. In the case if you encounter any issues, you can debug and rerun that step..
I have ran all the steps at a single step and i didnt encounter any issues..
Any reason why you want to do on EPM 11.1.1.4, if your is new install .. I would recommend to go directly to 11.1.2.1.. As migration uility is supported until 11.1.2.1
Note: If you are having Interactive Reporting in your environment,, documen id's will get changed so any offline saved BQY's wont work straight away.

List the known challenges in Hyperion V11

Dear techies,
We are currently having Hyperion suite 9.3.1 installed on SOLARIS and we are thinking of migrating to Hyperion EPM V11 in the months to come....
We would like to know the list of known issues with V11 and your thoughts on whether or not to migrate to EPM V11 ? I have searched everywhere but couldn't find the answer in a nutshell. I thought i could get a answer here.
I have once heard V11 by default takes the Server Current year as the first year in Year Dimension and in order to create older year one has to back date the system to have years older than current year (I may be wrong). Please advice.

What you are talking about was a problem with the sample planning application I believe. This is not a production issue.
The readme for 11.1.1.2 has the known bugs and what has been fixed.
My real thought, if you need the features in 11 then go to it, if you don't stay where you are. There are a lot of changes with ASO cubes, the addition of life cycle managment, backup and recovery, plus the enhancements to planning and the other applications

Problem with retrieve - wrong outline structure?

I use essbase 11.1.2.
I have a Cube with a dimension "Employee" (10000 member) and a dimension "CostCenter" (1700 member).
They all have a measure value of 1.
When i make a drill down on Employee i get a list of 10 k entries. When i do an additional drill down on cost center i get essbase error message 1020051: Limit of 250000 used rows is passed. I can't understand why. i have supress zero rows and columns on.
and every customer only has a value in only one cost center (1:1). --> it should be still 10 k rows after the second drill down.
Why does essbase mean it needs more than 250000 rows?

This is a known problem. See My Oracle Support ID 591649.1.
I ran into the same issue last week. Here is the note from Oracle My Support:
Symptoms
When drilling down on a dimension with a lot of members, receiving the error "1020051 Maximum number of rows processed [250000] exceeded [251836]".
Cause
When users zoom in on one or more members, Essbase must process a larger grid containing selected members expanded to the zoom-in level set in the options. By default, the number of rows Essbase can process is 250000.
Solution
This limitation has been removed in the EPM v11.1.2.1.102 release. The maximum number of spreadsheet rows Essbase processes on a request can now be set to 16,384 or higher. For example, to increase the number of rows to one million, add the following to the $ARBORPATH/essbase.cfg file:
SSPROCROWLIMIT 1000000
It is not recommended to use a limit higher than 500,000. A higher setting increases the memory utilization and will increase query times.
For versions prior to v11.1.2.1.102:
Increase the number of rows Essbase can process. Add the following line to the essbase.cfg file:
SSPROCROWLIMIT 500000
The maximum that this can be set to is 500000.
Note:
SSPROCROWLIMIT applies to unprocessed rows; that is, it is the number of rows Essbase accepts before processing. Row processing eliminates missing rows. After processing, the number of rows that the client can retrieve depends on spreadsheet-defined limits.
If SSPROCROWLIMIT is exceeded, Essbase issues an error message and stops processing the request.
If using Advanced Interpretation mode in the Add-in, one cannot turn this setting off from the spreadsheet. The setting is not used in Freeform mode.

Help-Cubes are not getting started when Analytical server started in 11.1.1

Installed Oracle Essbase Analytical server along with Shared Services, Provider Services and Integration Services thru EPM v11.1.1.3. Shared services and provider services on Windows 2003 and Essbase Analytical Services and Integration Services on UNIX/AIX. All the components got configured successfully. Copied the essbase.sec from the server which has previous version (v11.1.1.1.0) of Essbase. We have been encountering couple of problems. The first one is the applications(cubes) didn't start when the analytical server started. The second one is when trying to start using MAXL script, the applications took long time (more than 30 minutes) to start.
Any suggestions that you may have in resolving this are appreciated. Thanks,

In the application properties, is the box 'Start application when Essbase server starts' checked? If not, that's why they didn't automatically start. Also, once you started them manually, does it still take 30 minutes to start? Or is shutdown and startup faster now?

Standards data migration process from Hyperion Enterprise to HFM 11.1.2.1

Client currently has HEM and we are implementing EPM v11. I am wondering if there is any standard process to migrate historical data from HEM 6.5 to HFM 11.1.2.1?

First you need to migrate to v9.3.1 HFM (Fresh implementation of HFM) and then upgrade from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1

How can we delete a dimension from the classic planning applications

I am trying to delete a dimension from the planning classic application but i am unable to find out the delete option to delete a dimension. I created the dimension from the Administration -->dimensions --> Add dimension.
If we want to delete a dimension how we can delete that dimension, I heard meta data is stored in the RDBMS so that why if we want delete dimension we need to delete in RDBMS so please tell me the location in RDBMS to delete dimension. i am using sql is RDBMS.

As John mentioned, it is not supported and advisiable to delete a dimension from Planning application. but yes you can take a chance with some risk if you need to do so.. this opertaion is tested in 9.2 but i never tried in EPM V11.
You will need to delete all the children first, then the dimension.
BE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR APPLICATION BEFOREATTEMPTING THIS PROCEDURE.

If you have the dimension in forms, you may also need to (after step 5) go into the hsp_formobj_def_mbr table and delete all references of that object ID. Then delete the dim id in thehsp_form_layout table. Recycle services of Planning.
Procedure: If you create a custom dimension in planning and wish to delete it, here is how you might remove it from SQL manually.
it is recommended that only someone familiar with relational databases attempt this.The following assumptions are being made about the dimension: No forms have any references to thedimension. Any and all attribute dimensions have been removed from the dimension. Any and all members have been removed from the dimension. All security access has been removed from dimension. Any Alias associated with the dimension has been removed.
1. Open the Enterprise Manager for SQL server
2. Open the database that has your planning application
3. Open the table HSP_OBJECT
4. You need to find the row that has the dimension name you want to delete:
5. Take note of the OBJECT_ID in my example it is50051, don't delete it yet.
6. Open the table HSP_MEMBER
7. Find and delete any rows that have a MEMBER_ID equal to the OBJECT_ID from step 5.
8. Close the Table HSP_MEMBER
9. Open the table HSP_MRU_MEMBERS.
10. Find and delete any rows that have a DIM_ID equal to the OBJECT_ID from step 5.
11. Close the table HSP_MRU_MEMBERS.
12. Open the table HSP_DIMENSION
13. Find and delete any rows that have a DIM_ID equal to the OBJECT_ID from step 5.
14. Close the table HSP_DIMENSION
15. Also delete it's reference from the HSP_UNIQUE_NAMES table.
16. Delete the row in the HSP_OBJECT table that you found in step 4.
17. Close the HSP_OBJECT table.
18. Open Essbase Application Manager for the application and remove the dimension from the necessary Essbase outlines
19. Restart the application server.
