EPS previews gone

I have used bridge for while to preview & sort through my Adobe files, however, all of a sudden I have icons instead of image previews for my eps files. I've trashed my preferences - any suggestions or thoughts on cause?

I have this same issue and have done the above and still have only icons

  • Preview images in Finder (default opened by Preview) gone

    Since a couple of days the preview of images default opened by Preview are gone.
    Preview of files/images that are default opened by other programs are still there.
    I tried one of the answers in the (unanswered) topics where it was suggested to delete the com.apple.finder.plist file, but this doesn't help.
    I think this change has occurred after I installed the "Panorama maker 4" program that came with a Nikon Coolpix camera. This program can "stitch" together a number of panoramically made shots, so it is made to meddle with JPEG files. Also the installation procedure is very un-Apple-like and un-OS X-like.
    Of course removing this program does not help.
    Any suggestions on what might be wrong, or how to recreate the preview?

    You should be able to restore Preview as being the default to open JPG files by opening Finder then choosing a folder with JPG files in it. Select one of them and right click (Option + Click) and select "Open With" then select "Other". Navigate to the Preview Application and select it (click once), then click on the "Always Open With" checkbox (lower left of the dialog box) then click on the Open button.

  • EPS preview in high quality?

    I am needing to create EPS files that have high quality previews. I can do this in other programs with WMF previews. Is there any way to achieve this in Illustrator CS2 or CS?
    Thanks in advance.

    There is no such thing built-in., though there may be some Explorer extension like similar to QuickView that can provide this facility. Other than that get an image viewer software like IrfanView or XnView and the GhostScript package that goes with them...

  • .eps preview assistance in illustrator

    I had to update my domain password the other day and in doing so lost all my microsoft applications. I have had to re-install them all and they are now working.
    Illustrator also had issues and now wont preview eps files. I have re-installed Creative Suite CS5 and its still not working.
    In all the .ai files I open the box shows where I have placed the graphic .eps file (saved previously in Photoshop) but this image does not preview.
    If i save the .ai file as an eps and run it thru Acrobat distiller it distills the images in place and they show.
    What is missing or turned off, please please help I have wasted a day on this so far?
    I run a Mac with  10.7.5 and have 10GB of ram and terabites of space.

    No, that's not the Ai Prefs file. Put it back where you found it, and go to the directory I suggested before.
    You can see each "level" in the directory path, separated by "/" ... (each directory is INSIDE the one listed before it) ... if you follow that path, at the end you will see the file called, "Adobe Illustrator Prefs." THAT's the one you want to drag to the desktop and then restart Ai.
    Alternatively, you can search for "Adboe Illustrator Prefs," but be careful not to remove the wrong one, if there are more than one. (At the bottom of the search window, you can see the directory path to the file. Make sure and choose the correct one.  Good luck.
    I hope this helps.

  • EPS Preview format in AI CS4

    I was just told by Filemaker tech support that, as of CS4, Illustrator saves the Mac format EPS files with a TIFF preview (same as PC) rather than the PICT format preview that has been around since Illustrator 1.0.
    True or False?
    Thanks!

    1. Does AI CS4 build EPS files the same way it always has since v1.0, using a PICT-format preview image when a Mac preview is specified in the Save As... dialog?
    To be certain, as far as I can see the behavior has not changed with CS4. A Mac Illustrator EPS can have either a TIFF or a Mac preview. If the Mac was TIFF that wouldn't make much sense to me, having both options. So I'm pretty certain it's PICT.
    However I suppose it's possible the mac preview has changed to mac format TIFF, and the other TIFF preview option is IBM PC. That would be the only explanation for the separate mac preview option. Although if that is the case Adobe should have changed the wording in the save dialog.

  • Web page preview gone in safari search latest version?

    In safari I used to like when you do search and going through options, there was an arrow pointing to a preview of each webpage from the search menu, but now it is gone, only text , no more option to preview?

    Looks like you have made changes to the default font settings in Options > Content.
    Your troubleshooting information shows:
    * font.size.variable.x-western: 12
    I get this appearance when the setting for proportional is less than 16 (14 or less).
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced
    So you will have to increase that value.
    Setting a higher Minimum font size makes it even look worse and makes the page a lot wider.
    So it looks that the layout of the page is very susceptible to font size settings.

  • Where has the thumbnail preview gone?

    I recently upgraded from CS5 to the latest version and I'm having trouble adjusting. One of the smallest but most usable features of previous versions of photoshop has been that when I go to File > open and browse to one of my thousands of image folders Photoshop will display a small thumbnail of whichever image I have selected.
    This is essential so that I can tell which images I need rather than by file name which is useless.
    I'm probably just being thick and just need to find where to switch on the thumbnail preview. Can anyone advise?

    Windows on its' own does not provide thumbnail previews of psd files. A product I recommend without hesitation is Ardfrey PSD Codec.
    http://www.ardfry.com/psd-codec/
    Windows 32 and 64 bit thumbnail support for these file formats:
    Adobe Photoshop PSD PSB and Adobe PhotoDeluxe PDD files
    EPS files with embedded screen representations and thumbnail medadata
    most Adobe Illustrator AI files
    InDesign INDD files from CS2 and later that were saved with preview images
    (New!) PDF files that were saved with XMP thumbnails.  Even broader support for PDF thumbnails is provided when Adobe Reader is installed.
    The main reason I need this software is when I am using Windows Explorer to upload my screenshots,or open files in programs that do not use Bridge,as well as viewing my Explorer folders. It's great to have eyeball confirmation that the correct file is selected. It's worth the shekels.
    Just  a few samples in Extra Large thumbnail view.

  • EPS Preview

    Why are my eps files sometimes showing up in the preview as the image and sometimes as the eps icon, randomly?

    It's true, and alway has been. I think (not very well however) that this has something to do with EPS versions over the years where previews were added and standards changed and applications created bad EPS. It's also not well supported in the world today, as even Preview won't "save as" EPS anymore. Well, that's my hunch.

  • Camera RAW beta 5.6 Bridge previews gone, can't uninstall

    I updated to the 5.6 beta to work with some 7D files, and now get no previews in Bridge.  I've purged the cache, no good.  I also lost my Smart Collections, a major PIA.  I wanted to uninstall, but can't, and can't find any info.
    Anybody?

    SOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOR NOW...UNTIL ADOBE GETS THEIR ACT TOGETHER...
    I JUST DOWNLOADED THE "STAND ALONE VERSION" here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4621
    DRAGGED AND DROPPED THE ACR TO REPLACE you will notice the stand alone is smaller in file size.
    Library>Application Support>Adobe>Plug-ins> CS4>File  Formats
    IF I OPEN THE RAW FILE AND MAKE A TINY ADJUSTMENT {ie. SATURATION.1%]
    AND CLICK "DONE" IT WILL  GENERATE A RAW PREVIEW!!
    WTF RIGHT!
    This is not a solution for my 5 tb library

  • Slip Tool Preview Gone

    Hi guys,
    I've been working on a project recently, Im not sure if i've pressed a keyboard shortcut or what, but every time i use the slip tool on a piece of footage, i no longer have the preview of the in and out points.
    I can open a new project, drop in the same footage, and the previews are there when i try to slip it, but for some reason on the old project, i must have turned it off some how.
    Any ideas how i can get it back on?
    Thanks!
    (Premiere Pro CC)

    You cannot turn this feature on or off.
    Import project into new project see if that will help.

  • Where have the psb file previews gone with PS CC?

    I've just worked on a large 16 bit image file in PS CC and saved it as a 4Gb .psb file and now I no longer see a preview in the OS or Bridge, just a PS icon. This is a major issue for me as I work with large files all the time and therefore have to save layered psb files on a daily basis. The lack of previews now when working with PS CC is more than an inconvenience. With CS6 I get psb previews ok.
    Any ideas? I tested two systems running Snow Leopard and latest Mountain Lion to no avail. I also already tried removing all caches, ran utilities to clean and repair permissions etc.
    Is this a bug in PS CC?
    Any helpful suggestions would be most welcome but I will reluctantly be going back to CS6 until this is solved.
    Cheers

    Thanks. I have now posted the question there. I have found yet more bugs in the last few mins using PS CC so I will keep relaying my findings as I feel like a beta tester already. Oh joy.

    What the heck do I care?  ??? !!
    ACR 8.7.1 is all I need, as a matter of fact so is ACR 7.4 !   On the other hand, newer versions of the OS already cannot cope with stuff that my system can, as illustrated in the two posts before yours.
    I haven't even bothered to investigate whether CC supports Lion or not. As we say in German, »das ist mir Wurst«.
    R_Kelly, I drive an 11-year-old minivan, I play on a violin made in 1743 and one made in 1922, The very large Thomas electronic organ in my living room is some 35 years old and it plays Bach and Buxtehude as gloriously as it did when it was new, I play both CDs and vinyl records on my two turntables and "HiFi" system from 1977, a lot of the furniture and stuff hanging on my walls are from the 18th and 19th centuries, etc.  In that sense I am a "conservative" because I tend to hang on to stuff for a long time.
    If I really ever need Photoshop CC, what's to keep me from subscribing when the time comes, if it ever does? As we say in Russian () «Когда мы доберемся до реки, мы засучить штаны», "When we get to the river, we'll roll up our pants."
    Happiness is not just keeping up with the whims and thuggery of the computer industry.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    PS.— "Photoshop Elements 13", really? ??? !!    I have no use for that emasculated piece of cr@p, besides, I think it's overpriced by at least $60.
  • Alias Previews Gone since Mountain Lion upgrade
    In my dock, I have a Shortcuts folder, where all my aliases are (mainly for commonly used Word, Excel, Numbers, Pages and PDF documents). In Lion, these aliases displayed thumbnail preview images of the actual documents. Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, these previews have disapeared - all I get are standard, generic icons.
    I get the feeling there's a checkbox I need to be ticking somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. Anyone got any ideas?
    Here it is October of 2013, and I'm having a similar problem. I'm using Mountain Lion 10.8.5, I just upgraded a month or so ago.
    I don't know about aliases showing generic icons, but if I try to open a file via the alias from Excel for Mac 2011, I get the message, "Excel cannot open this file.  The file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file."
    I've tried with leaves " alias" at the end of the extension, I've tried after removing the " alias".
    I've tried using aliases that were created prior to upgrading, and I've tried using newly created aliases.
    This is true for Word documents, also.
    It's also true when I try to upload to Google Drive. It can't recognize the file when I upload from an alias. This used to work just fine.
    I'll keep searching for an answer, but I've been looking for awhile now and this is the first information I've found that comes close to my problem.
    Thanks so much for any help!
    Brenda
    eta: I forgot to mention that if I double click on the alias file within the Finder, it'll open up just fine in the appropriate app.
  • IOS 5.1 on iphone 4s excel and rtf preview gone
    Updated to ios 5.1 on my iphone 4s and now it is not possible to preview xls or rtf documents. My work auto-generates my schedule in these formats nightly and since the 5.1 update I can not open them. I updated my phone OTA, I have since reset it restored it and it still does not work. I have also retored from Itunes, it downloaded a 803MB file and restored again, but still no opening. When I click on the document it shows a white screen only, no error.
    Did the 5.1 eliminate the 5.01 feature of opening these file types? PDF is opening correctly.
    What are my options? Can I request a 5.01 downgrade?
    After a call to apple and other troubleshooting, it is only XLS and RTF files with graphics generated from my work system. If I open them with my pc and re-save it opens well.
    5.01 did not have this issue.
    As a temp solution I downloaded save 2 pdf app. If I open it first and then long press the attachment and open with save 2 pdf, I can read the attachment. So I have a work around for now.
  • "Preview" Gone??
    Recently updated from 10.4.xx to 10.5.6. All seemed OK until we tried to open or print .pdf's, jpg's, and other attachments. We found that instead of things opening with "Preview" they now open using "ColorSync"........ It's not as friendly as "Preview".
    We know how change what is used to open files, but we no longer have "Preview" showing up on our HD. We've looked in Applications and Utilities......
    Does 10.5.6 still have "Preview"??? Is it as simple as using the "Install Disk" and doing a "Custom Install", find "Preview" and install it again???
    Thanks.....
    If you are using TimeMachine for a backup, the proper way to restore an item is NOT to drag it or copy it, but to use the TimeMachine interface and click the Action Gear and select restore, after selecting it.
    if you are using another kind of backup, then it's not a problem.
    If you go through your console logs around the date the Preview disappeared, you might get some clues.
    While it's possible that an app can go AWOL on its own, it's a very rare thing. Usually an app disappears because of an accident.
    No matter, it's back. Keep an eye on it for a while, but I don't think it will disappear without help
