EPS to high res JPG

I am trying to write a script that can batch EPS to high res JPG (20 MP and over). I can set this up basically, but I have run in to a few problems.
The maximum scaling in jpeg export options is 776%, but some of my EPS files are very small in size - so 776% does not create 20MP rasters.
So, I need to find a way to enlarge both the vector and the artboard to a larger size before exporting for jpeg. I have no idea how to do this.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

Hello [Jongware]
I'm slightly confused.
e.g. 4500 pixels x 4500 pixels are 20,250,000 pixels. Thats IMHO more than 20 MP, or not?

  • .jpgs/.pngs no longer save as high res, previous high res .jpg/.pngs show up as medium res

I need some serious HELP! All of a sudden, without doing anything that I know of, my saved exported .jpgs/.pngs are no longer saving as high res. Also, when I pull up high res images (I know they are high res), they now show as medium res in Illustrator. I've used these program for a very long time, and I have no clue why this started a few days ago? I didn't even realize it was converting older files to medium res until today.
Any help would be most appreciated! I have never encountered this problem before, and I've created thousands of images for clients web/print.
    Thanks so much!

    Tara,
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
I believe 5) is least likely to be relevant.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Saving AI files as high res JPG issue

I'm not understanding why when saving a 300 DPI AI file to a JPG, it's saving as 72 DPI. All of my setings are correct and prior to CC, I've never had this issue.

Just using Export to save as a JPG. My settings show CMYK and 300 DPI but when I view the file in Bridge, it shows 72 DPI.

  • PSE 12 uploads to Adobe Showcase convert to poor quality low-res JPG's! Totally unacceptable output!!

I'm using PSE 11. Within the organizer, I uploaded some pics to Adobe Photoshop Showcase (which I did since Adobe abandoned their former well-working photoshop.com). Apparently, the PSD formats of my pics were converted to JPG's which is okay, I guess, if that's the way it has to be, but the resulting resolution was absolutely horrible! I worked a long time on my pics, and was extremely upset when I viewed them on Showcase with all the jagged edges and other impurities caused by low resolution. Is it possible to upload my pics without them being converted to low-res JPG format?? Or at least a high-res JPG?? I never had this problem with photoshop.com.
    Thanks for any help.

Yes, as an experiment, I took one of my PSD files and converted it into a JPG on my computer, using a compression/quality setting of "maximum". As I viewed the JPG in Photoshop Elements, the output quality was excellent. So, next I uploaded the same JPG to Photoshop Showcase, which I did within the organizer. During the upload process, there was no option available for compression/quality setting. When I viewed the JPG file in Adobe Photoshop Showcase, the output was once again quite horrible, and it was obvious that Adobe automatically converts uploads to the very poorest JPG quality possible -- probably to save space on their website. I think that Adobe made an unfortunate move when they abandoned their previous photo-sharing site, photoshop.com.  Although I appreciate your input in this matter, I think I'll be looking elsewhere for a decent photo-sharing site (which won't include Adobe's costly "Revel").
    Thanks again,
    J

  • How do I save a jpg that I have in photoshop elements as a high-res or vector format.

how do I save a jpg that I have in photoshop elements as a high-res or vector format.
    thanks

    Welcome to the forum.
I wonder, however, if you meant to post to the Photoshop Elements Forum, and not to the Premiere Elements (Video editing program) Forum?
If you want PSE, then see the above link.
To Save_As uncompressed, you might want to look at PNG for the format.

  • Importing High Res. JPG with RAW?

Is there any reason to import JPG images with RAW images? I sometimes shoot high res. JPG with RAW just so I have some high res. JPGs for temporary use immediately after a shoot and for archival purposes, but I can't think of a reason to import JPGs into Lightroom when there is a RAW. Thanks for any clarification.
    Dilip

with one option it let's you know the jpg exists, but you can do absolutely nothing with it, even delete it easily from within lr. The other treats them both seperately, and all controls can work on either file. To each their own I suppose but I see no compelling reason NOT to import them as seperate files, it only adds confusion to the managing of digital assets for me, as lr provides no means of seperating the combo designation after import.
Many times I leave camera on raw+jpg mode even for snapshots, and decide the jpg is good enough and I don't desire to do any processing on the Raw. Other times the raw is easily superior, and the jpg is garbage. Treating them seperate puts me back in control of what I use and how. But, as I said different ways of working call for different ways of handling it; I'm glad we at least get an option to do it either way.

  • Exporting high-res

I am trying to export high res jpegs from lightroom, but when I do and try and upload to make a bigger print (11x14) it says resolution is too low. What settings should I use? The files are raw from the start. Do I have to use tiff files to make them high enough quality for that big if a print?
    Thanks for any help.
    Sarah

Your pixels per inch (ppi) is unnecessary high.
For display on a computer monitor 72 ppi, max 100 ppi is right.
For printing on your printer usually 240 ppi, or 300  ppi is right, unless you have a high-quality printer with a native resolution that is higher then select that resolution.
But besides the ppi you have also to select the size in inches - it's just left of the ppi window.
So for your print of 11 x 14 inch select that size or select 11" for "Short Edge".
You have set your quality to 100. That is fine for a print, but unnecessary high for display on a monitor. For that choose a value between 60 and 80.
BTW this value determines the compression of the jpg, the smaller the quality-number the higher the compression and the smaller the file size.
Now, having said all that, the question remains why do you export your image in order to print it?
Is there a reason that you don't just use the print module?

  • How to open high-res photos files? (Lumia 1020)

Ok, I dont have time to do alot of research on this when the 1020 cant make JPEG format of the high-res photos in the first place.
So...how do I open these photos on my computer...or have I missed something? The format seem to be *.DGN, never heard of it.. How to make it JPEG?
Why these stupid long filenames and its not as easy to get the files to my computer as it were on the Belle (N8 and 808)...
I suggestion, get the Lumia phone compatible with the Nokia Suite computer program and some settings there that filter what type of files to sync to the computer and so on...I loveed that program wre you could upgrade the phone and have a good overlook and which handled many differant phones at the same time...

    Try THIS
Also in settings it's easy enough to switch to JPG highres. Actually unless you changed it to DNG yourself it will (still) be on that setting. Unless you need or want to process your photos yourself using a suitable program on your PC there is very little point in using the format to shoot the highres images.

  • Export/Save as High-Res Jpeg

Is there a way to export a document @ a different resolution than 72DPI? I know I can set the horizontal/vertical scale to save it at a larger dimension at 72DPI, but I need the file to be actual size and 300DPI.
This is part of a larger process, and I'd prefer to do the entire process from Illustrator, and not have to open the files in Photoshop to change the size/resolution.
Also, is it possible to change the color mode to CMYK or Greyscale for the exported Jpeg?

Thanks again, I checked the Javascript reference for CS6, and don't see any 'app.system' method listed, and I get 'app.system is not a function' when I try test it. That sounds like it would do what I wanted if available. I could probably add a call to run it from Bridge into my script, but one of my goals is to not run any additional applications if possible.
The main application is written in XOJO (formerly RealStudio), and is a very large program which handles a lot of aspects of project management for my position. This particular function was originally written as a separate Javascript to save out barcodes from a supplier's illustrator file. It has expanded and been incorporated into the application so it now stores the saved barcodes (EPS) into a database, as well as does some other processing after the files are saved. I am currently trying to add a high-res jpeg into the database as well, and would prefer to do so when the original EPS files are saved. Another part of the application can create the jpegs from Photoshop, but I'd prefer to do everything from within Illustrator.
I've got it mostly working for now, just have to deal with an issue with the file paths returned from the jpegs not being recognized properly.

  • Looking for a high-res drawing app for the iPad

I've tried a few of the available iPad drawing apps like Sketchbook Pro and Brushes. It's a little hard to tell, because documentation tends to be short on details, but it appears that most of them (with the exception of Brushes) only let you work and export images at 1024 by 768 resolution. That isn't really high enough resolution for professional work.
Brushes is the only exception I've found. You work on the iPad in Brushes at 1024 by 768, but they have this OS X app that can convert your exported images to a higher res.
To me that's crazy awkward and time-consuming, and I think Brushes is OK as a drawing app, but not necessarily what I'm looking for.
Can anyone give me some better insight into the matter?
Is there some underlying technical reason that all of these apps have a hard limit of 1024 by 768 resolution?
Is there an app other than Brushes that can produce pro-level (high resolution) image files on the iPad?
    Thanks,
    JS

  • How to I get high res thumbnail images?

Just discovered once I've imported images into my library Aperture 3.2.2 (running under 10.7.3) doesn't render high res thumbnail images (when the Browser Thumbnail Resize slider is set to the far right/maximum), even though my "Previews" preference settings are as follows:
"Use embedded JPEG from camera when possible" is unchecked
"Don't Limit" for Photo Preview is selected
Photo Preview quality set to 10
Deleting and regenerating thumbnails doesn't solve the issue. However, if I delete the photo from the referenced library, then reimport the image, the browser thumbnail image renders sharp. The low res thumbnail is at left; high res thumbnail (after re-import) is at right. Both thumbnails images are sharp when the Browser Thumbnail Resize slider is positioned in the middle. Photos render sharp in the Viewer, regardless.
Going back through my images, it seems Aperture stopped providing a sharp thumbnail image since around July 2010. Other than updating Aperture, my workflow or supported camera hasn't changed. Couldn't find a reference to this issue in the User Manual. Am I missing something a setting somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Eric

Its unclear if the command Generate Thumbnails actually does anything if the thumbs already exist and as there isn;t a Delete Thumbnails command like there is a Delete preview command there are only two ways to force a new thumb to be generated.
One is to import the image again and two is to delete the Thumbnail folder in the Aperture library. I don;t know for sure if this will fix you problem but as I said it is the only way to force the generation of the thumbs.
If you try this make sure you have a good working backup of the library. Nothing here will normally cause data loss but it is always a good idea before messing with the library.
Quit Aperture, Highlight the library in the Finder and right click, Select show package contents. One fo the folders you'll see is Thumbnails, delete it. Open Aperture.
Also be aware that the regeneration of the thumbs will take some time. Depending on the size of the library it could be an all day affair. Aperture is usable while this is going on but it will be slower.

  • Is it possible to create a script to produce a high res and low res pdf and jpeg from Indesign at the same time

Hi, I'm just wondering if there is a way to automate a long process I have to do to create assets for my job.
I have a single page InDesign 6 file which I have to output three ways:
A low res pdf without bleed or trims
A high res pdf with bleed and trims
A low res jpeg downsized to 2% of original size.
If anyone knows if this is possible I'd love to hear from you.
    Thanks in advance

Automation requires creating your own IDML script for output. Scroll down on this page to the section on Scripting resources. The text is a bit confusing. It says InDesign CS5 Scripting resources, but then the paragraph for that section says the PDF files are for CS6. I haven't read through these, I just found them by searching for "indesign automation". It does say in part that is can be used for preparing files for printing, so once you figure it out, it should be a single click option to do all three steps.
You can do them now with the menus you have, assuming you also have Acrobat Pro installed. With any document open, choose File > Adobe PDF Presets, and choose either from the prebuilt defaults, or create your own in the Distiller. However, I don't see a way in the Distiller settings to choose whether or not to include bleed and marks, so I'm not really sure how you'd have them on for one and not the other. As far as JPEG output, that can be chosen under Export. You get a choice to set a resolution and JPEG quality level, but not a size, so the output will be the dimensions of the document.

  • How can I create a high res image gallery, need to have print res photos for a pressroom section.

How can I create a high res image gallery, need to have print res photos for a pressroom section.

If you want Muse to "pass through" your images and not adjust, compress, crop etc - you need to place your images in the lightbox EXACTLY at the right size, pre-cropped and prepped in Photoshop.
So if your light box is 800x600 the image you're dropping into that must be 800x600 exactly with no effects, rotation etc added to the lightbox frame. This stop Muse fiddling with your images, if they are perfect when inserted and you're not asking Muse to crop, expand, add effects etc. If it's perfect when inserted, Muse SHOULD also leave the resolution alone too, but I have not tried that one, but in theory, it should work.

  • Is there a way to publish a high-res .ipa from Flash CS5.5 with AIR for iOS?

    Hello,
I've developed an app for iOS in Flash specifically for iPad 3's. My client uses SOTI MobiControl as it's mobile device management solution. If I publish out of Flash using AIR SDK 3.1 or newer the app is created and looks high-res on the iPad3. When they try to add the app to SOTI for in-house distribution it errors with the error claiming that "CFBundleDisplayName" has been left blank.
After having looked into it I've been able to find out that when publishing with versions of the AIR SDK older than 3.0, the info.plist file within the app package includes a CFBundleDisplayName. In versions newer than 3.0 there is no CFBundleDisplayName in the info.plist.
Is there a way to publish for iOS from Flash utilizing an older version of the AIR SDK and having true high-res graphics that will look proper on an iPad3?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Phil

It's not AIR that's lacking the key in the plist, it must be Flash Pro, although it's just running adt itself. I use AIR 3.4 and I compile via adt command line (because Flash Builder 4.6 still has not been updated to handle warnings from ANEs during compile, grr). I have CFBundleDisplayName in my plist file. Have you tried compiling on the command line?
Here's an Adobe page with a bunch of examples compiling with ADT on the command line:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WS901d38e593cd1bac1e63e3d128cdca935b-8000.html
Being unaware of what in-house distribution system that actually is, I have noted that some people had previous issues submitting apps Flash compiles. Their solution was to rename the AppName.ipa to AppName.zip, extract the Payload folder, copy the AppName.app inside there out, then rename that AppName.app to AppName.ipa. Then it was accepted. Not sure if that old issue still exists.
