Epson 1200U scanner

Just getting my new iMac up and running.
Anyone know if my old Epson 1200U Perfection will work with Snow Leopard?
I tried it with Epson software that I've been using in my old eMac with 10.4.11 but no go.
Am I scannerless now? Will the 1200U have to go wherever the eMac ends up?
Rose

Rose, Good for you, I'm happy for you. The main reason I read this post is this, many moons ago, I owned an Epson 1200U Scanner. About your question, go to http://www.epson.com/support . From there, go to the "Snow Leopard Page" or just the regular support page. It will ask what type of product are you interested in, as in "Scanners". Just draw down the window and you'll find "1200U", click it and go to "FAQ", you might need "Rosetta". Go to your "Snow Leopard (SL) Installation DVD", insert into your machine. Click the SL icon, you'll see the SL installer, and a folder called "Options", open the second one. Now in "Options", you'll find 3 icons, 2 about "Xcode" and 1 about options, click the one about "Options". Inside you'll find a list of applications, including "Rosetta". I hope you enjoy your iMac.

  • Epson 1200U scanner with Mavericks

I was going to upgrade to Mavericks and then found my Epson 1200U scanner won't work with it, so I didn't complete the install. Is there any software available to use that scanner with Mavericks?

You can sue the Image Capture app in your Applications folder for scanning.
Connect the scanner to your Mac whether Wi-Fi or USB.
    Launch Image Capture.
Click the very small black box bottom left side of the Image Capture window.
You'll see this pop up menu:   Connecting this (device) opens:
You can select a default app to scan (Image Capture) and select a folder from the Import To pop up menu on the right to save scanned files to.
If you need help with the Image Capture software, click Help from the Image Capture menu bar.

  • Plug in for epson v750 scanner

For PS CS6 what plugin do I need to import into PS from my Epson V750 scanner? Does Adobe provide the plugin?

If the software that came with the Epson doesn't include a plug-in, then there isn't one except for those that other developers have made (VueScan, SilverFast). Adobe doesn't provide them, each scanner maker does.
However, a plug-in isn't the only way to scan into Photoshop. You can scan with the software that came with the V750, and set the software to save scans in a specific folder. You can then simply drag from that folder into Photoshop. I like to have Adobe Bridge pointed at the scan folder so I can see, keyword, and preview any of the scans as they show up, then edit any of them in Photoshop by pressing Enter/Return. Previewing your scan folder with Bridge is also a great first step to fast editing of scans in bulk in Adobe Camera Raw.

  • Photoshop CS5 not working with my epson 1640xl scanner on Mac OS Lion

Just loaded CS5 on Mac 10.7.  I downloaded and installed the  latest OSX Epson 1640xl scanner software, and also copied the Twain plugin from the Adobe Goodies CD to the Photoshop > Plugins > Import/Export folder.
Rebooted the computer, power off and unplugged my USB scanner, fired it back up, restarted Photoshop, etc.   It no longer shows up in Photoshop>File>Import
But Photoshop doesn't see my scanner at all.  In fact, the TWAIN plugin doesn't even show up in the plugins folder list.
Little Help?  How do I fix this? Everything worked perfectly with Mac 10.6  I also took the scanner into a epson dealer and the scanner works perfectly.

That scanner is sort of old, and doesn't have a 64 bit driver.
As Noel said: use Photoshop in 32 bit addressing mode to work with older drivers and plugins.

  • Image Capture is not recognizing my Epson Stylus Scanner 2000

I have an Epson Stylus Scanner 2000 printer that scans, prints, copies and fax. I faithfully used these fetures in my home-based buisness with my G3 until I traded for a Mac Pro. I can print without a glitch, no problems there. How can I scan and fax??? I've been the the Epson website and didn't see my printer on the list of updates and recognized printers for OS 10.x. What can I do??? I need to keep my printer (which is in excellent working condition). Help me to scan and fax please...

You need Intel or Universal Binary drivers, which it seems Epson doesn't offer. What I use to use for my scanner (and still do actually) is VueScan. But I did end up buying a $79 Canon LiDE 70 eventually.
    http://hamrick.com
Epson Stylus 2000 is listed there as supported.

A lot of older printers are supported by CUPS or GuttenPrint so take a look there (avoid the latest beta driver though).

  • How do scan strip negatives via my Epson 4990 scanner using Image Capture since upgrade to OS X Mavericks

Hello Everyone. OK I upgraded to OS X Mavericks without thinking that by doing this would stop me using my Epson 4990 scanner as no driver / software currently available - OK my fault. Anyway as Epson have not yet provided an update (yet?), all advice being recieved is use "Image Capture" for the time being. I have tried this along with using the "Help" files but unfortunately dont seem to be be any assistance. In simples terms I just wish to scan film negative strips (and transparencies) but it dont seem to be possible. Could any member advised how to get solve this problem as I am in the middle of a major scanning exercise with the worst case senario that I wil have to revert to my Windows based laptop to carry on and temporary reduntant my iMac which defeats the point of the exercise. Thank you in advance (hopefully)

Replay I received from Epson today:-
"In response to your email, we unfortunately do not have any update available for your model at present. We have no confirmed date for this but as far as we are aware this is likely to be in the next two weeks"

  • Epson 2450 Scanner no longer available as an import into Photoshop

    Hello,
I am having a problem with my Epson 2450 scanner importing into Photoshop. Last week with thoughts of upgrading, I purchased an Epson V700. I installed the scanner but found it not to my liking and returned it. Yesterday I downloaded and ran the Uninstaller to remove the V700. This however deleted my 2450 driver as well. I reinstalled the 2450 driver from Epson but then, and after repeated attempts, found that the 2450 is not showing up as an import option. Please note that I am still using Tiger. Any suggestions to getting this all working again as it has for the past 8 years would be greatly appreciated. One simple use of an uninstaller has turned for the worse - I wish I had just kept the V700 installed and just ignored that it was still listed in Photoshop as an import choice. (Please note also, that I am a high school photo teacher and was planning on giving the 2450 to my school. I was not able to load the driver and use the scanner through Photoshop on our school Macs either.)
    Thank you,
    Nick M.

Hello, did you repair Permissions & reboot yet?
    One possible option is Vuescan...
    http://www.hamrick.com/
It supports the 2450, can be made to send the scan directly to PhotoShop, and has many more features than Epson's SW does.

  • How do I get Photoshop CS3 to recognize my Epson 1660 scanner?

I just got a new MacBook Pro, and I can't get my Epson 1660 scanner to show up under "Import." Photoshop is running in Rosetta and worked fine on my old MacBook. The scanner works via Image Capture but I want to use it through Photoshop. I tried re-installing the driver ("ICA scanner driver for Image Capture") off the Epson website but no luck.

If you "just got a new Mac", you are probably not running in Rosetta, as Rosetta was deprecated in Lion, Mac OS 10.7.  That may be your problem, especilly if you migrated your Photoshop from an older computer.
The migration software copies your CS3 preferences, which include Rosetta, but there is no Rosetta in Lion.  There's a file you need to delete, so keep an eye on this thread:

  • Epson 3170 scanner problem

Apple has effectively killed my Epson 3170 scanner. I have followed most of the post here trying to solve this problem. I have deleted Epson scan and downloaded the driver from Epson that is supposed to work with image capture, but it will not work. This is extremely frustrating when you had a perfectly good scanner and then you upgrade to 10.6 and download the apple drivers for Epson and then it no longer works. If anyone has an idea I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. I apologize if this is a repeat, but I have searched and cannot find a solution. HELP!

I had the same problem but just found the solution in another thread.
You will need to replace /Library/Image Capture/Devices/EPSON Scanner.app with an earlier version of the EPSON Scanner.app and then (for the time being) don't let Software Update install the Epson printer/scanner update. In my case, I didn't have the EPSON Scanner.app at all after installing Snow Leopard.
There's some more info and a download link for a June 2009 version (v 5.0) of the (driver) app in this forum message: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12031583&#12067887
So far, so good: I can confirm that my 3170 is working with Image Capture again using the downloaded app.

  • Epson 2480 Scanner doesn't show up in File Import menu in PSE 6

    Hi
    I'm on:
    Intel iMac
    Mac OS X 10.5.8
I recently upgraded from PSE 4 to PSE 6 and everything is fine. It delivers everything I expected but for one little thing.
Il have been using my Epson 2480 scanner with PSE 4 for years both on G4 and Intel based Macs. I never had an issue. The driver used to be listed in the File>Import menu.
After installing PSE 6 I uninstalled the Epson driver and installed the updated version.
The Adobe authored TWAIN.plugin is correcty installed in the Adobe Photoshop Elements 6/Plug-Ins/ImportModules.
It still works in PSE 4.
Yet it isn’t listed as it should in PS6. Did I miss something?
    TIA
    Nick

    Bingo!
I don’t repair permissions often. I probably should;)
I’ll check the Rosetta box when I need to scan stuff and I’ll let it unchecked the rest of the time. PSE 6 works perfectly well as it is.
BTW I read in the PS forum people say it was as shame to use a sophisticated soft like PS for such a trivial job as scanning. They suggested one could just use the scanner dedicated soft. I found the argument ludicrous. If I need to process the images with PSE it’s darn convenient to get them with PSE in the first place. Thanks to you I'll be able to do so.
Thanks for your help and patience, Barbara.
    Regards.
    Nick

  • Epson Perfection Scanner Woes/Intel iMac

24" Intel iMac running OS 10.4.8, 250 GB HD, 2.16 GB RAM
Epson Perfection Scanner 3170, previously ran smoothly on old G3 and OS 9.2.2
I am trying to get my scanner to work with my new iMac - trying for the first time since purchasing the machine to use this scanner, which I was told by Apple was compatible. I did get it to run one scan this evening even though it kept quitting out; then it wouldn't open and told me to check the connections (fine). I am trying to "Scan to Application" - Photoshop for scanning photos into the computer, on a deadline, naturally!
Before anyone suggests that I do a search, I found this thread and followed instructions:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1607880&#1607880
Uninstalled the Epson apps and prefs as per Joe Gramm's directions. I reinstalled from the Epson software CD, downloaded the 11928 driver from Epson (the latest one) and got the ESP3 patch as well (see thread, which I hope all installed where they were supposed to go).
When I press the button on the scanner that opens the Epson Smart Panel, nothing - no icons - are there for me to select. If I click on Epson Scan app. the scanner will preview and scan whatever is in on the glass but it does not "know" what to do with it once it's done. The JPEG doesn't appear anywhere. I keep waiting for the next window to open up so that I can select the tool box icon to select Photoshop as my application, but it doesn't open and I don't know what to do next. I always had an item in the Apple menu on my old mac that selected the scanner and would like one in the dock - shouldn't something be there?
I will be emailing Epson as soon as I am done here and would appreciate any help as soon as humanly possible as I have to make a reel for myself using portfolio pictures for an interview this weekend! GAH!

I was having problems running EPSON Scan.app. I went to this site:
and followed the instructions below EPSON*.ds file, and deleted all but the scanner model that I had. It worked for me!
Also if your running Adobe CS3 on an Intel Mac then go to this site, if the TWAIN driver isn't working. I did Solution 2: and it worked for me. The latest epson driver is still PowerPC.

  • Epson 836XL Scanner compatibility - HELP!

My wife's Mirrored Door G4 died on her a few months back and I got her a MacMini. It works great, but had no room for the SCSI card used to drive/connect her oversized Epson 836XL scanner. I tried to find a Mac SCSI to Firewire or SCSI to USB adaptor but none of them had 1) the proper pin configuration and 2) were supposedly only PC compatible.
I pulled the SCSI card out of her old computer and put it in mine. The computer recognizes it in PCI slot 5 as a SCSI Bus Controller so I'm pretty sure it is still working, even though her old computer motherboard was fried. Anyway, I hooked the scanner to my G4, installed the drivers and tried to use it but it the computer just doesn't seem to be seeing it. I know the scanner drivers were supposedly only good up through OSX 10.2.X but I would hope that it would still be usable under 10.3.9.
I even tried using the optional parallel port connector on the back of the scanner and hooking it up with a parallel to USB cable to my Mac but that didn't work either.
I'm about at my wits end. It worked fine on her G4 under 10.2.9. I would hope that it would work on my older computer even though my OS is a later version. It just doesn't seem to be able to be recognized by my computer. A new oversized scanner runs in the $1500 range and that is a bit more than we can spend.
    Anyone have any ideas?
Here is the SCSI card info, if it can be useful:
    Type: SCSI Bus Controller
    Bus: PCI
    Slot: SLOT-5
    Vendor ID: 0x9004
    Device ID: 0x5078
    Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x9004
    Subsystem ID: 0x7850
    Revision ID: 0x0003
Do I need a SCSI driver for the card maybe? Thanks.
    Graphite G4 733MHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Thanks Dave. You know what? I downloaded the trial version and believe it or not it worked! I didn't expect it to as I thought there was a connection issue, but the SCSI interface seems to work with VueScan. I was hoping I'd be able to get it to work with the Photoshop plug-in but I guess that is not to be.
Thanks so much for turning me on to this, you don't know how much time and $$$ you've saved me. It anyone knows if there any current drivers that will get it to work with Photoshop under 10.3.9 or higher, that would be great too.

    Hi,
You might try installing the trial version of
Vuescan. It says it supports your model scanner.

  • Epson perfection scanner

i had problems a few months ago with my epson perfection scanner not being recognized by my computer. the green 'on' light would be half illuminated when the usb cable was plugged into the computer. this occurred after stupidly moving a bunch of files around and then forgetting how to restore their original placement. i moved files because i was unable to change the name of my home folder -- as this computer is a hand-me-down -- and did not want to have to look at the name of the home folder any longer for personal reasons. silly, but true.
i did manage to get the computer and scanner to communicate once again, but the connection has since disappeared. i downloaded a demo of vuescan which initiated the connection and then was able to open up the epson scan program after that. i am trying to understand just how drivers work and how these two pieces of equipment communicate so that i can do my own troubleshooting. the epson troubleshooting guide is useless -- after ruling out that the printer isn't plugged into an outlet or into the computer, it has absolutely no suggestions for troubleshooting. no software advice at all. i'm going to continue playing with this problem, but if anyone can explain to me how drivers work and how the computer and the scanner communicate, it might help me out. it might also help a lot of other people out, as i see from the discussion boards, this sort hardware communication problem comes up a lot in various manifestations.
    thanks.

Those are good suggestions, but unfortunately, in my case, the latest driver and a re-install of the software did nothing to help. The only thing that got things partially working was downloading the demo of vuescan, which I am hesitant to purchase as the demo seems a bit buggy -- but then again, this may be something to do with my computer and not the program. I'm not sure. I wonder what it is about the vuescan program that immediately recognizes the scanner when all other applications, including image capture, fail?
