Epson 2200 Shared Printing isn't working

Alright. I know I've been through all this before...
I've got an Epson 2200 that is hooked up to this computer (G5, 10.4). It is sharing, and it has been sharing quite nicely.
Well, a week ago, I had to take this computer out of the office. But someone needed to print. So they tried hooking directly to the printer.
It didn't work. And now, whenever they try and print, the job is sent. Then stopped. When I start the job up, it stops.
I have taken and deleted the printers on both computers, but still, nothing.
Everybody is running 10.4.8, so there shouldn't be any issues of things talking one to another, but still, I can't get it to work, and it's frustrating.
The logical answer is that the printer is trying to print locally, but I removed that printer. And the file is getting sent over. It's just not printing.
And I'm sure I've figured it out in the past, but I can't remember what I did then.
Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Paul:
Sorry. That's what I meant by "Reset Printing Queues". I took and Reset the system. I don't recall now if I restarted between deleting the Print System and reinstalling again, so I'll get kit to try that and see if it works....
Thanks for the help. I am, I like to think, fairly conversant with troubleshooting these things, so I have tried the basics. But of course, I am not a network admin, I am a graphic designer, and sometimes I miss the obvious.
I should point out that we have had some fairly major printing troubles with that machine before, when it absolutely refused to print. But that was back with Panther, and we've upgraded the OS since then and it has been working fine. I don't think this hearkens back to that problem, but it might.
I'll keep hacking about and see if I can get it to work.

I have an Epson 2200 which was in perfect working condition until just now when I received the following error message: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Contents/MacOS /.  What to do???

    Hello kelsey1942,
It sounds like you are not able to print to your Epson 2200.  I found an article with steps you can take to troubleshoot printer issues on a Mac:
Follow these steps until the issue is addressed:
Make sure that the printer is powered on, has ink / toner, and that there are no alerts on the printer’s control panel. Note: If you cannot clear an alert on the printer's control panel, stop here and check the printer's documentation or contact the manufacturer for support.
Ensure the printer is properly connected to a USB port on the Mac or AirPort base station / Time Capsule. If the printer is a network-capable printer, make sure that it is properly connected to your home network.
Use Software Update to find and install the latest available updates. If an update is installed, see if the issue persists.
Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
Delete the affected printer, then add the printer again.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
Contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.
    Additional Information
Note: If your printer is wireless-capable, you should first add the printer to your network. Use the printer's control panel, or temporarily connect the printer to your Mac via USB.  For more details, see this article.

  • Lexmark x4850 Wireless Printing isn't working...

    Hello,
I have a client with a new Macbook pro and a Lexmark x4850 wireless printer. I found this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8299637
I tried the things people had suggested and can't seem to get anything working. They are using WEP lowest encryption because someone had mentioned that had worked for them. USB works fine but they want to print wirelessly. Lexmark support doesn't mention anything on this issue. I discovered that the "driver" for the Mac also includes the utilities to setup certain things including wireless printing. I tried the software and still, no good.
If anyone can help I would appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Dru

  • Epson Workforce 30 Printer doesn't work since installing 10.6.1

After installing Snow Leopard, the window showing current printer activity indicated that I needed to visit the manufacturer's website to download new drivers in the main dialogue box. I did this and followed all installation instructions given on Epson's site. Now when I try to print, it shows a smaller error message in line with the job currently shown as printing. I tried going into the printer setup> select driver window. But the most recent version I had downloaded wasn't included in the list.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Apple just released a new package of Epson printer drivers. Look for them at support.apple.com/downloads/.
If your printer is not supported in the above and Epson does not have Snow Leopard compatible drivers for your printer yet, then you may be SOL for the time being. In this case contact Epson to see when then expect to have a compatible driver for your printer.

  • Can't figure out why printer isn't working

    Hey Everyone,
So I've hooked up my TC, and I plugged the printer into the back of the TC and then went to settings on My mac and hit add printer. The printer is there, it adds and then I try to print, but it won't print. Did I not set it up properly or how do I fix this! Please and thank you!

Further detail its an HP 3054 printer with wireless capabilities. I'm still confused as to why it shows up, but won't print!

  • Epson E-Web Print toolbar works with IE but not Firefox 28 on Windows 8 PC

Seems like the Epson E-Web Print toolbar stopped working after the update for Firefox 27. Switched to Internet Explorer and the toolbar works fine.

This from Epson's support site isn't very promising:
<blockquote>Q: EPSON E-Web Print does not work since I upgraded to Windows 8.1. Why does this happen?<br><br>
A: '''EPSON E-Web Print is no longer supported by Epson.'''<br><br>

What did it do? Maybe there's a good substitute.

  • Oracle XE - UTL_FILE - shared printer

    Hi,
I am trying to recreate a production environment on XE.
I am trying to send a print command to a shared printer (share name label01).
The machine running the XE database is called cobrademo.
When I try the following command utl_file.fopen('\\cobrademo\label01', 'test.txt','w'), I get ora-29280 invalid directory path.
When I change the directory to a directory on the cobrademo machine it works fine.
The solution of mapping util_file to a shared printer is also working in production.
The XE service is running as a user called OracleDBA, that has also been granted access to the shared printer.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

When I try the following command utl_file.fopen('\\cobrademo\label01', 'test.txt','w'), I get ora-29280 invalid directory path.2 basic issues. The Oracle server needs to be able to resolve that NetBIOS hostname to an IP address. Secondly, the current Windows user that is running the Oracle server process, needs to have access to that UNC (read and write in your case).
A simple method to test is to logon as that Windows user (usually <i>Oracle</i>) on the Oracle database server. Open a command console window. Type the following:
    +{noformat}net view \\cobrademo{noformat}+
If this fails, then get the IP address of that cobrademo server and add the following like to c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\lmhosts :
    <i><ipaddress> cobrademo </i>
If the net view command works, attempt to access (read, write or map) the NetBIOS share/service called label01. E.g.
    +{noformat}echo "This is a test" > \\cobrademo\label0{noformat}+
This needs to work in an automated fashion - thus no keyboard/user input such as specifying a username and/or password to make the NetBIOS calls and access work.
PS. Note that this is not a question related to either the SQL or PL/SQL languages. Please choose an appropriate forum for your question's subject matter in future. Thanks.

  • Windows vista/photoshop CS4/epson 2200 printer interdiction

my previous computer used windows xp and worked fine with cs4 and the epson 2200.  unfortunately, I have never been able to get this fairly new 64 bit vista system to work with cs4 and the epson 2200.  I have downloaded the 64 bit driver from epson and after talking with epson tech support it seems it is  not the printer.  I have tried virtually every combination of  deleting/reinstalling the driver, every combination of "letting printer manage colors" and letting photoshop manage colors, etc.  in the past, I have let photoshop manage colors.  then miraculously, i let the printer manage colors and it worked for a day or two and then it went back to the same muddy off color mess.  now, it looks the same no matter what I do.  somehow, it seems as if my windows program isn't interfacing with the printer.  if anyone has even the slightest suggestion of what to do next i would appreciate it.  other wise, i may just upgrade to windows seven to see if that works any better.

I knew Vista had a dislike for IDE
Thanks for sharing that piece of info. I might add, though, that Vista not per se dislikes IDE, it just does not like some IDE commands and running such disks in compatibility mode, which in part of course also depends not only on the disk, but also the motherboard or specific drivers that may be required. Anyway, given the low price of harddrives, replacing an old drive with a new SATA should be a nobrainer for most people...

  • Why does my Epson 2200/ Print: Media Type list only 4 of the media types?

For some reason my Epson 2200 when I'm trying to print a photo in Photoshop, and other programs, shows under Print/Presets/Print Settings/Media Type: Plain Paper, Enhanced Matte Paper, Velvet Fine Art Paper and Water Color-Radiant White.
What isn't shown is the rest of the paper media types of: Premium Glossy, Premium Luster, Premium Semi Gloss, Canvas-Luster and a whole host of variations in those types of media. In essence what isn't showing are most of the print profiles from Epson for the different types of paper.
I done everything that I can think of to correct the problem and nothing seems to work. Now it has progressed to the point I'm have the same problem with my Epson Stylus Photo R200.
Both Printers are on USB connections. I've tried deleting the printers from the Printer Setup Utility; running Disk Utility/Repair Permissions; trashing Epson Printer Utility; trashing the preferences from the Home folder; trashing the Epson folder from the HD/Library/Printers folder; and then reinstalling all of those trashed items and deleted items and running Disk Utility/Repair Permissions.
Nothing seems to work! I need help here ..... what am I doing wrong??
    QuickSilver G4/Dual 800/1.5gig.memory   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    QuickSilver G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I figured it out myself and answered my own question. If you have matte black ink installed when you are trying to print on glossy, the paper type is limited to only that media which black matte ink is specified. You have to switch out the matte ink for photo black ink. Delete the printer from the Printer Setup Utility and reinstall the printer. Whereas with the Photo Black Ink you can print on all types of media.
Nothing like driving yourself crazy over a minor point that puts a cog in the wheels of progress. :O)

  • Sharing an Epson RX-500 printer on a 10.5 with a 10.6 machine

I have an Imac G5 with 10.5.8 and a Macbook Pro with 10.6.2
An old Epson Sylus Photo RX-500 is connected to the Imac (driver version 3,09).
I want to share that printer with the Macbook Pro.
Installed all sorts of drivers from Epson on the Pro (RX-500 specific drivers or gutenprint or the postscript general driver), and every time the driver tells me that either is forbiden to use that machine or that the printer is a 'pause' status.
Tried to liberate the printer with no success, restard the printer, downloaded the latest driver for the pro (december 2009) with the same results.
Frustrating... The printer works well on the Imac.
    Any ideas ?

Check that printer sharing is turned on on the iMac in Apple Menu/System Preferences/Sharing. Still in System Preferences check Security/Firewall and make sure that Printer Sharing is allowed.
On the iMac open the print queue of your Epson and check that printing isn't either stopped or paused.

  • Wireless print server that works with Macs and Epson R1800?

    Hi,
I'm looking to buy a wireless print server, which I could use as if the printer was connected directly to my Mac. So basically, it just needs to have printing over IP port (like port 9100 on HP JetDirect) and drivers for Mac OS X (or ideally, no special drivers needed at all). Devices that do sharing of the printer only over LPD (older Unix), SMB (Windows), IPP (Cups / newer Unix) or similar protocols is not what I'm looking for here.
The reason why LPD, SMB and IPP are not an option is that I'll need utilities such as Epson Printer Utility to work over the network too.
It looks like Linksys, Belkin and some other have products that allow access to the printer over port 9100 (standard HP JetDiret's port) as if the printer was connected directly to the computer. However, for the most part I was able to find only success stories for Windows users.
Windows has standard driver that allows connection to the printer to be easily switched from USB port to network port. Does OS X comes standard with that feature, or is the special driver needed?
Most importantly, has anybody had success with printing from Mac through wireless print server (any brand) to Epson R1800? Did the Epson Print Utility (checking the ink levels, checking and cleaning the head, etc) work? Any special drivers needed?
    Thanks

direwolf has hit the nail on the head - the Epson driver won't work for IP printing. The Epson driver is a Carbon driver, where they build the comm protocols into the driver instead of enabling use of the standard protocols on OS X (that are part of the CUPS system). You'll need a CUPS driver to use the standard network protocol(s). The printfab driver is a CUPS driver.
Exception - the Apple Extreme/Express/etc print servers have firmware that make them work like Macs - Mac-to-Mac sharing works with USB-only drivers! I hesitate to recommend the Extreme/Express, because Apple can't seem to get all the kinks out.

  • Why does my computer restart when trying to print? OSX 10.8.3 epson 2200

I seem to have a problem on my macpro 3,1 3ghz, osx10.8.3 computer when i try to print. When clicking print in any program, it will automatically restart my computer. I've tried resetting the printer settings in system preferences, and when clicking plus to add the printer, it will restart again. The printer is an epson 2200.
I've downloaded the huge printers driver files again, and still nothing. Also tried to fix permissions and that didnt help.
Everything was working fine printing before osx 10.8.3.
    Any help would be great.

On the phone today with Senior Apple Tech guys for ovber an hour. I have a case number. They said they hope to have something by Saturday.
I will keep this forum posted if and when I get anything.
In the meantime USB is working just fine.
BTW, spoke with 2 Epson techs and they both said basically talk to Apple, and as far as they knew Apple wasn't supporting Fireire any longer.
It is true that the new machines do not have FW ports. Never the less, the printers were all fine on 10.8.2 and FW so obviously there was a slipup somewhere.
I have had Macs since day one. I consult quite a few photographers and architects on their computers.
In the last several years there have been very few problems, and none that I recall that brought down the whole system.
The old days, yes, but this really startled me. To say nothing of the promised print job I was starting!
Keep the faith that Apple will fix this, and quickly!

  • Shared printer not working (most of the time)

I have a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard using a shared Epson R380 printer connected to a G5 (running Leopard) . Most of the time it doesn't work, but occasionally it will. On the Mac Pro, the Epson monitor says "print job accepted" but doesn't change. On the G5, the Epson monitor shows the print job, but says "job stopped". When trying to resume the job, a warning box pops up on the G5 saying "Operation C0uld Not Be Completed - client-error-not-possible".
The shared printer works fine (most of the time, too) with another networked Mac, a Mac mini G4 running Leopard.
All OS's are the latest possible.

Sharing between Leopard and Snowleopard does not work reliably. For this reason, we do not recommend mixing Operating Systems.
    Hope this helps,
    Syd
