Epson 4000 pro drivers and Leopard

does anyone have success with printing on a similar machine through leopard. I have been on to the Epson site and although they have tried to help I'm still confused and worried especially after coming through the dreaded blue screen heart attack experience. Where could I find drivers and how do I install them on this G5 mac. Thanks Tom Piper

If this is the Epson Stylus Pro 4000, the drivers are included with Leopard. This thread may help:

This what I have been trying......  Maybe my eyes are screwed up or don't understand the process....
What I have been trying to do is squint and make the apple disappear by moving the sliders around in each step. Is that correct?

  • Epson Printer Drivers and Leopard - Epson 740 or Epson RX700 problems

It seems even after Epson updated their printer drivers Leopard will not all me to print to my Epson Stylus Color 740 AND my Epson RX700, I must choose one over the other.
If I install the printer drivers from Apple they include drivers for the old Epson Stylus Color 740 and it works fine. The problem is it kills my new Epson RX700 printer. It still works, but I cannot print CDs.
If I delete the Epson printer drivers from my Library folder and start over with the updated Epson RX700 drivers I can print to the RX700 including to CDs, but they do not offer an Epson Stylus Color 740 printer driver beyond system 9.
I have tried installing the newer Epson RX700 drivers over top of the Apple installation but the same result happens.
Can anybody help? I need the old drivers from Apple's system 10.5 installation disk so I can print to my old workhorse Epson 740 and my Apple 630 laser writer pro. But I also would like to print to CDs using my new RX700.

I have exactly the same problem...I have submitted a query to Epson...but we all know how good support is from companies like Epson and Apple

  • Acrobat Pro 9 and Leopard Won't Recognize Scanner

Hi, I'm new to this forum.
I am running OS 10.5.5 on an iMac (intel core duo processor), and using Acrobat Pro 9.0.0. I have an Epson 1640SU scanner, and it has worked fine through all of OS X including Tiger 10.4.11 and Acrobat Pro 9 on my PowerPC (G4 PowerMac). However, I cannot get it to recognize a scanner in Acrobat Pro. When I go to File, Create PDF, From Scanner I get the Acrobat Scan window but there are no scanners available (under Tiger with Acrobat Pro on the PowerMac G4 this window would then allow me to select my scanner). I downloaded the latest Epson drivers, and the scanner works fine with Adobe Photoshop CS3 (IN ROSETTA MODE). Epson had a note regarding CS3 which indicated to set it to operate in Rosetta mode (whatever that is) and the instructions to do so by checking a box in the Get Info command from the Application Finder window. Acrobat Pro does not have any option like that.
Anyhow, am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else run across this? Is there a solution which allows scanning direct from the Acrobat Pro application?
My current work around is to scan in CS3 or the Epson Scan application then to save the document and then to open in with Acrobat Pro and then to work on it.
Thanks for any ideas, information or assistance.
    Barry

the check mark by the scanner in the system preferences indicates That the driver is active. you wan to uncheck all the scanner drivers except any associated with Epson.
what you do once you get into acrobat, is choose the scan device. which should show (choosing SANE). Now go to File menu and choose make PDF from Scanner. If everything is set you get a menu of whether you want front page only Both and so on there will also in acrobat 9 be some setting for Optical Character recognition and so on.
Then choose to start scan after setting everything. Now you will have to wait for the SANE Scanner menu to come up. choose whether color Greyscale or line art and set the slider for the desired DPI. now hit preview. let scanner scan item them you can click anywhere in the bounding box to make it disappear and you can choose the desired portion of document you wan to scan.
Ok and make sure you down only the versions of the components for the OSX version your using. each is written different according to the OS.

  • ATI 9600 Pro card and Leopard?

    Hello!
I would like to know if the video drivers in leopard are better than the ATI Display software. I want to install Leopard on a G5 with Radeon 9600 Pro Mac/PC edition via a simple update, but dont know if the card will be handled right away, and if yes if I'm to install the Ati software (4.5.7 is the latest I think).
    Thanx for your input...

Hopefully this will help someone else in my predicament...
I just installed Leopard on a G5 with an old ATI Rage card in it (long story) and found that HD video (x264 .mkv, etc.) was really choppy (go figure!). So I dug up the 9600 card that came with the G5 originally and swapped out the older card with this newer one. The G5 then booted though the Apple logo with the spinning gear and right when it was looking like it would go into the desktop and finish the boot process the screen would just go black.
While searching around the forums for someone else with this problem (and swapping the video cards back out so I could at least boot the G5 and try installing the latest ATI driver from their website) I noticed from another system on my network that when the G5 was running with the 9600 (and the screen was blank) it was still accessible via the network, and even more importantly available for screen sharing (yea Leopard!). So I shared the screen, seeing that it was running a super low res (that the attached DVI monitor did not support, I guess). I switched the res to a known-good setting (1680 x 1050) and suddenly the blank screen snapped to life, and all is working fine now (and HD video playback is smooth as silk!).
If I had installed Leopard with the 9600 installed in the G5 to start with I bet this would not have happened, but hey, live and learn.

  • Pro Tools and Leopard

Just wanted to know if anyone had heard any information about Digidesign patching up Pro Tools to work with Leopard.
I really hope they do it soon...

I just got this info from Digidesign on LE and Leopard.
    Hello Everyone,
I'm Dave Lebolt, general manager of Digidesign. I wanted to take a moment to talk to you about what is happening with Mac OS X Leopard and support in Pro Tools. Some of you have commented that getting Leopard qualified far earlier than now would seem like a "no-brainer," or that Digidesign is often far too late in coming on line in support of newer OS versions. Some have hypothesized that we will charge for an upgrade just to offer you Leopard support. Some people have even said that it's possible that Apple may be causing problems for Pro Tools on purpose. And some folks have said all of these things at once!
The first thing I want to say to all of you is: I'm sorry. I'm sorry that getting here is taking so long and that we have not been able to communicate more about it, and also because we really do care about your experience as customers... People working here are passionate about Pro Tools, a lot of us here want to use our product with Leopard too, and most of all we care because we genuinely want to do anything we can to help you be creative and successful in what you do. So I'm sorry if we're letting you down by not getting things released sooner.
Lack of Leopard support across our product line affects many of you (and affects our business), so I wanted to give you some insight into what's been happening and where we are in the process. Some quick answers to the above statements:
    * We have an excellent working relationship with Apple. I have regular communications with senior folks there, as do many others in our organization with their peers (especially engineering and test). The people I talk to at Apple want Pro Tools to be compatible as much as we do; they know that a lot of you are our mutual customers. Ultimately, Apple considers Digidesign to be an important developer on the platform.
    * Rest assured, we will not charge Pro Tools 7.4 owners for an update to support OS X Leopard. In fact, it is not our policy (nor has it ever been) to charge for a "dot release" where the only change is support for a new OS version.
    * We'd love to have the new Leopard compatible version out to all of you, and it's very painful not to have it for everyone right now. We start work on the qualification (and development process as required) early in the cycle. We begin work on the "seed" versions of the operating system as soon as they are available and sometimes things are changing even as the initial OS release goes to market. If anything changes after that (i.e., a dot release), we sometimes have to start over in addressing any problems that may be newly introduced and go through entirely new rounds of testing to ensure quality.
    What's The Current Status?
We have been working hard on supporting OS X Leopard since its introduction to developers at WWDC in 2006 for many months (including some period of time prior to Leopard's release). As is often the case with entirely new major OS versions, there were some quick "dot" releases after introduction. Many of the problems that Apple addressed in these dot releases were critical to improve OS X Leopard operations (you can read about some of them on the support section of Apple's website). These improvements and fixes were very valuable to a broad base of Mac users. Unfortunately, the currently shipping OS X Leopard release, 10.5.2, contains some changes that actually caused problems with Pro Tools (and some other apps as well). In our case, the problems included audio interfaces not being recognized by the computer, track counts dropping to near zero, and errors coming up during normal operation. Some of you who may have experimented with Pro Tools and OS X Leopard 10.5.2 may have encountered some of these problems.
We have worked closely with Apple's engineering group, who have been working very hard in cooperation with us to get the problems ironed out. The good news is that we're getting close to the home stretch, but we have to do a lot of testing of the fixes that have been implemented in order to be sure that we're in good shape. We need to make sure that our product works well and you're not just getting something that's marginal, and it takes time to exercise all of the newly changed code.
What Works on Leopard? Anything At All?
Currently, only Pro Tools|HD systems running Pro Tools 7.4.1 software are officially qualified with OS X Leopard 10.5.1 running on the new generation Mac Pro 8 core desktop machines (with "Harpertown" processors). This means no support yet for Pro Tools LE and M-Powered, and it means that users of the new Mac Pros need to stick with OS X 10.5.1 for the time being.
    Why this Message?
We have posted this information along the way (just a couple of weeks ago our head of customer service posted information to the DUC), but the amount of time that is passing combined with our concern within the company prompted me to want to reach out to all of you. We work cooperatively with Apple, and want to respect the process that we have in place for fixing problems; but I wanted to give you a bit more information about what's been happening and why we're not there yet...
    When Will It Ship?
We hope to have the new release within between 1 and 2 months from now; some of that timetable is contingent on Apple. We'll keep you posted as we get closer. Normally, we don't want to give specific dates because that can cause problems in expectation and it's better not to have negative surprises, but I'd like to share this info with you in the spirit of keeping closer to you as our customers.
I hope that my note gives you a better idea of what's been going on — thanks for listening.
    - Dave L.

  • HP Officejet 6500 E709 - works fine. WIN 7 Pro drivers and registry severely messed up.

I was having problem printing (cant recall the exact error at this point) and every attempt to fix got me in more trouble.  I ended up trying to uninstall and reinstall the drivers and then the device, but clearly failed to do it properly as now everything to do with the printer gives me an hourglass and need to reboot to end the process.
I know its the PC because I have another WIN 7 on the home network which works just fine.
Even clicking Devices and Printers in Control panel ends in hourglass as described above.
So I ran HP Print and Scan Doctor.  It too ends (quickly) with the hourglass.  I suspect that to some one who lnows what they are doing the log  file will tell the story, so here it is:

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @Swiv ,
I read your post about the issues you are having with your printer on your one Windows 7 system. I have a few suggestions for you to try if you would like. If they do not help, I would then suggest Microsoft Support for better exposure on the issue you're having.
    1. Uninstall the printer by running the Microsoft Fix It tool
    2. Restart the PC
    3. Perform a Clean Boot
    4. Restart the PC again
    5. Unregistering and re-registering the Microsoft Windows Installer service:
    1. Click the Start menu and type " cmd " in the search field and press enter.
    2. Type in " msiexec /unregister " and then press enter.
    3. Type in " msiexec /regserver " and then press enter.
    4. Restart your PC and try the installation.
    6. Using System File Checker to Restore System Files
    7. Restart the PC
    8. Install the printer by running the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows
    9. Once installed, go back to the Clean Boot to enable your start up programs again.
    10. If this does not work, try posting the issue in the Microsoft Support Community
    Best wishes

  • Win XP Pro drivers and install order for Qosmio E10

    Hello,
I bought recently Qosmio E10 in Korea. The OS is Korean Win XP Home. I would like to change it, so I guess I have two options:
    1. Get a restore CD in English. But I read that Toshiba has the strange rule not to give restore CD with different language. I wrote them, they don't answer for now.
    2. Install Win XP Pro myself (I have only this license). The issue in this case is to be able to get all the drivers I need. I found good drivers on several locations:
On http://www.toshiba.co.kr, but I worry that these drivers are for Korean XP.
    The other place is http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
In this place, most of the drivers are for Media Center edition. There are drivers for XP Pro, but they are not so many and there is no install order. For example, there is no NVidia driver, while such driver is available for the media center. Maybe I can use Media center drivers on XP Pro?
So my question is: What drivers I have to use and and what order to get a proper working XP Pro. It would be nice to know where to download QosmioUI. I found the Linux player and I will install it, but I want also to have the player in Windows.

    Hello
As far as I know the software is bundled on notebook and if you buy a notebook you buy automatically OS and license to use it. That means that you can not order a recovery DVD on another language. Qosmio E10 is delivered with Windows MCE2004 SP1a.
The only possibility is to install Microsoft Windows XP OS (full version, with or without MCE), and then you must install all necessary drivers, tools and utilities separately.
For English language you can find them on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com under Support & Downloads.
    Bye

  • DVD Studio Pro 2 and Leopard

DVD Studio Pro 2 keeps crashing. Is it supported in Leopard 10.5.5?

I doubt it is officially supported since that is quite a few OSes ago when it was released. I wa never a big fan of DVD SP 2 and it seemed to work best in the 10.3.x more than 10.2 for me. Not sure I ever got it running in 10.4. Been awhile
Is it crashing at a certain point in a project or just random?

  • No guitar input with my Edirol UA-5 in Logic Pro 8 and Leopard

I'm hoping someone else can guide me on getting my Edirol UA-5 working with Logic Pro 8 on my 24" iMac running Leopard. I am getting the sound out playing through the UA-5, but I am not getting any input from the guitar I have connected on Input 2.
I downloaded the EDIROL UA-5 Driver Ver.2.2.1 for Mac OS X which indicates it is compatible with Leopard. The System Prefs Sound control panel gives me the option for Edirol for input and output and I see the Edirol option at the bottom for the advance settings. Edirol UA-5 is set to advance switch on the back. I have guitar plugged into input port 2 (1/4") with the impedance on High, Sample rate is on REC, Rec Source is Analog, Input Monitor on Mono. I have adjusted the Sensitivity just below setting that turns the Peak light red. I have restarted with UA-5 connected and disconnected and in hub as well as directly to my 24" iMac.
I've tried in Garage Band and LP8 with input set to the Edirol, but am not getting any response.
I've exhausted the things to try based on my searching the discussion boards and am hoping someone has a suggestion of what else to try. (besides telling me to buy a Apogee Duo)

    Couple of things to try
Sounds like you done most of this, just to recheck.
    Open the OSX Audio/MIDI Setup.
Set the Default Input and Output to the Edirol device.
Set System Output to Built in Audio.
Boot Logic, open Logic's audio prefs, Core Audio Enabled
    Set Device to Edirol.
    Buffer to 256 for now.
Select an Audio track to record on
Inspector opened, check which input is being used on the audio track,
default mono tracks are set to input 1, you're plugged into input 2.
    Set Input to 2.
    See if that does it.

  • Printing on a Epson Stylus Pro 7600 with Leopard & cs3 problem?

    Hi
I have just setup an epson 7600 on a network, it's connected to a macbook and then shared to my imac. When i print on the iMac using preview, it comes out great when i untick the high speed printing button, when i don't untick it, i get banding straight across the page. When i print using cs3 even when i change the settings so that it doesn't print at high speed, it still does and i get banding, can anyone help?

Here is Apple's list of supported printers from Lion: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669
As far as I know, this is their latest list.
Note the list is dated July 26, 2012, so it almost certainly will apply to Mountain Lion as well.

  • Epson Stylus Pro 5000 & Leopard

Can I print directly from my MacPro 3GHz to my network printer Epson Stylus Pro 5000 and get top quality results. I used to have it setup using my old PowerBook G4 Ti laptop running OS9 and Stylus RIP Software.... but I purchased a new MBP with Leopard on it so I gave my PowerBook Ti to my father with Tiger running on it. I see in the support notes that Leopard comes with Gimp drivers for the Stylus Pro 5000, but when I add the printer and GIMP drivers to my print network the quality of the printouts is by no way near what it was when running the Stylus RIP software on my old OS9 laptop... does anyone have a similar problem? I was going to just go away and buy another more up to date printer e.g. the Epson R2400, but the 9 ink cartridges at 13ml each sounds very uneconomical to run... and besides... there's nothing at all wrong with my Epson Stylus Pro 5000 with 110ml cartridges... I just need to get it to work using Leopard on my MacPro 3GHz.
Any comments / ideas most welcome...
    Yours sincerely,

Hi there Kappy and thank you for your excellent suggestion... on arriving at the website I could see it held the perfect solution, but I could not see my printer listed on the supported printers list... so I have emailed them to see if it may be a pending supported printer.... but thanks again for your excellent suggestion... I have it working direct now without a RIP using the Gimp driver... but it's painstakingly slow and the colour matching isn't as good as it was using the proper Epson Pro 5000 Driver with the Epson Stylus RIP software...
Always something in the bloody business...lol..lol
    Thanks again...

  • Epson Stylus Pro 7700 will not work after installing Mountain Lion, I have update all drivers and firmware

This is a large format printer used for proofs that I cannot use since upgrading to Mountion Lion, anyone else had printer issues?

Checked RoaringApps App Compatibility Table.  These are apps not drivers but..
    All I see listed is:
    - Epson LFP Remote Panel 3.6.1 and with a ? under Mountain Lion
    - Epson Printer Utility 4 8.6.1 and red X indicating non-compatibility with Mountain Lion
    - Epson Scan 3.7.5 and a green check mark showing compatibility with Mountain Lion
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table/tags/_e/index_tags/_e
On the Epson Website.  Under Drivers and Downloads for the Stylus Pro 7700 with Mountain Lion, it looks like there is:
    Drivers:
    - Printer Driver v8.63
    Utilities:
    - Remote Panel 2 Utility v1.30
    - Uninstall Center v1.1.0
    Firmware:
    - Firmware Update version KND14BA
Epson Stylus Pro 7700 Printer - Drivers & Downloads
Did you download and install all of these from the Epson website?

  • Epson Stylus Pro 4000 and SL

Is anyone successfully printing with an SP 4000 and the 10.5 driver in Snow Leopard? I can work with either Photoshop CS4 or Lightroom 2. Epson suggests using Rosetta as a work around. Does that work with CS4?
    Thanks,
    Peter

I am able to print with ICC profiles properly colour calibrated on my Epson 4000 providing I follow a very specific sequence.
My system is 10.6.1 SL, Lightroom 2.5 (starting in 32 bit mode), Epson driver 3.09, USB connected printer
I must do the following in this sequence (if I do not the prints are way too dark)
    1. Use lightroom as normal, press print or print one with profile settings as normal
    2. In the print driver dialogue go to "Color Management" and choose "OFF"
    3. in the print driver dialogue go to "Print Settings" and choose Mode "Automatic"
    4. In the print driver dialogue press "Print"
If I do step 3 then 2, then prints are way too dark, it appears to only work in this way for me.
I am very pleased with SL, the performance improvement is impressive.
I have resolved the issue with my Epson and it is not a big brick but it is clunky to print this way and took a lot of trial and error and paper/ink to figure out something that works for me.
Now, if only I could get my eye-1 software to recognise the monitor profile is installed already and I don't need to reprofile every time I start up, I'd be a very happy man.
