Epson 9800 edge to edge printing on Mac

I'm not able to print edge to edge from Illustrator CS5 on a Mac but I'm I was told by a friend that I would be able to from PS.  Any reason why?

LMCarter,
The proof of the pudding is the eating.
If you can print from PS, it is most likely an Illy or Illy/Epson (driver) matter; if not, it is more likely a Mac/Epson or Epson (driver) matter.
Have you been through all possibly relevant settings concerning both Illy and the Erson (driver), and do you have the updated Epson driver(s)?

Did you recently change the driver you are using?  I don't see how a driver for the Apollo P-2100 will work with an Epson printer.  I would suggest that you delete your printer and re-add it using the correct driver.
You could also use the Epson supplied drivers available at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398

  • Epson 9800 cuts off image

I just got an Epson 9800, and when I print from Photoshop, it cuts off the image drastically. I'm printing a 22" x 3" image to a 24-inch roll of clear film. The printer only prints about 7.75 inches at the right side of the film.
I've got all the latest drivers installed. I also installed Epson's OSX 10.5 common updater and restarted.
My page setup looks good -- I created a custom page size of 23" x 4", big enough to fit the image on the roll with room to spare. In the print dialog box, the paper choice is "roll." The printer shows that it's printing from a roll, autocut. No matter what I try, only about 7.75 inches of the image will print.
Any suggestions to fix this? Many thanks! I'm going nuts.

I've got a little more information on my printing problem. It's not just Photoshop -- the same thing is happening in Illustrator.
But here's the weird part: only SOME image files are getting cut off. I can print one file (a PNG file, say) and it prints fine. The next PNG will be drastically cut off. I can print a vector graphic just fine, and the next one, which is roughly the same size, gets cut off.
For the life of me, I can't find any difference between the files that are getting cut off and the ones that aren't. Suggestions welcome!

  • Edge to edge printing problem epson 9800

I need to know if my problem is a user error problem or is it an inherent problem within the latest driver from Epson 9800. I believe I'm setting everything correctly within the driver to be able to print an edge to edge poster, size ranging for 44" width to 24" width, I haven't had troubles before printing from a windoze machine. Whatever settings I have for the Mac it just won't print. Any help would be most appreciated.

My name is Syd and I work for Epson America, Inc.
The driver may be corrupted or there may be Apple driver interfering. Here are the steps to remove all Epson driver and re-install a fresh copy of the driver:
    1. Go to System Preference > Print & Fax.
    2. Highlight the Epson printer and click - to delete.
    3. Go to MAC HD > Library > Printers.
    4. Drag the whole Epson Folder to the trash.
    5. Go to Epson.com and download the Printer Driver v6.11 from your printer's support site.
    6. Install the Package.
    7. Download the Common Updater 7.0 from the printer's support site and install it.
    8. Once installed restart the computer.
    9. Once restarted, make sure the printer is on and connected. Go to System Preference > Print & Fax.
    10. Make sure the printer is added here
    Try printing again.
    Hope this helps,
    Syd

  • How to I produce a PDF which goes right to the edge on a Mac?

How to I produce a PDF which goes right to the edge on a Mac? I have recently moved to a Mac. I now have Acrobat X Pro 10.1.3, and Mac OS X 10.7.3. When I used Windows and Acrobat X Pro I was able to print to Acrobat to produce documents which went right to the edge on screen. Now on Mac I can only produce documents which have a border on them. I expect I am missing something quite fundamental, but it is frustrating me so I am seeking some help from those who know how to do this. Thank you in advance.

So I did a little exploring in Word for the Mac. I set the Word margins to 0 inches, then I placed a picture that went to the edges of the page.
The problem seems be that Word is very simple-minded, and when in the Print dialog, it adjusts the preview of the Print feature to the margins of the currently-selected printer. For my HP inkjet printer, that's about 1/8" in from the edges. When that data is passed to OS X to create a PDF, it uses those margins in the PDF file.
In Word for Windows, Acrobat installs a PDFMaker plug-in for Word. PDFMaker contols the creation of PDF so there are a lot more settings possible.
Acrobat has never made a plug-in for Word for the Mac. As to why, this has been debated endlessly for the past 15 or so years. Adobe claims that Microsoft doesn't provide the handles to do it in the Mac version of Word. Whether that's true, I don't know.

  • Photoshop does not recognise my epson 9800 printer

I've been using CS6 for a long time(Years) with my Epson 9800 printer without any problems. Today between two prints it now comes up with an error message. Anybody else have this problem?

    Dear alderman,
Yes, I had a problem too, but with a different Epson printer and while trying to print from an Adobe PDF file.  No error message, just NOTHING!  The problem started after I installed the latest Epson update.  The print jobs would just keep stacking up and not print.  After many tries I finally got everything working again by printing something from my Pages application that did not come from an Adobe PDF file…that seemed to get everything working again.  Going into the System Preferences on my Mac (10.7.5) and deleting jobs, restarting the printer, etc., did not seem to help, but printing from Pages (or another word processing application) did the trick.  You might try it.

  • Default Printer Problem - Epson 9800 and 9900

OK. I attended the Epson Academy meeting in Chicago yesterday - -and I learned several new things.
None of the Epson speakers, however, ever heard about an issue that is my problem:
Blacks are blocking up on my 9800 used with MK. I am printing on Somerset Velvet for Epson.
I am using an Intel MacPro with OS 10.5.6 - and Photoshop CS4. I have a new Epson 9900 on a USB line - and my old 9800 on a Firewire connection.
I posted earlier that my 9800 is now dedicated as an MK printer (I gave my 9600 to an art department).
My new 9900 is designated as the DEFAULT printer - on the MacPro with OS 10.5.6 - and Photoshop CS4.
When I send a print to the 9800 (not designated as the default printer) - it appears to ignore my profiles - and prints huge BLACK areas where there should be detail - and some grays.
I sent the same file to my 9900 - after switching it to MK from PK - and the print was perfect - matched my profiled monitor exactly - and was the same as a previous print done with MK on the 9600.
So - today I am back in the studio and doing some research - and some experiments (putting my science Ph.D to work).
At the suggestion of Epson's people yesterday, I reloaded the print driver (from Epson) for the 9800.
I then Used Print-Fax (on the Mac - system preferences) to delete the 9800 from my list - and then re-added it (it is on a firewire link).
I made another print - and (drum roll...) it is still filled with Blocked-Up Blacks.
And so, I did the test that I mentioned doing earlier here:
I went back to Print-Fax - and I designated the 9800 as the DEFAULT printer.
I then made another print and (more drum rolls.....) - the print is PERFECT - matches the print from my old 9600 and the new 9900 with MK.
So - the problem is that under OS 10.5.6 - and with an Intel MacPro - and with Photoshop CS4 - the 9800 MUST BE SELECTED AS THE DEFAULT PRINTER.
My next test is to send the same file to my 9900 - with MK - with the 9900 NOT designated as the default (leaving the 9800 in that role).
I want to be able to have both printers working (as in actually printing) at the same time so that I can keep up with Fine Art and canvas jobs.
Will I have to switch the Default-Designated Printer for each job ? What will happen if I de-select the 9800 while it is printing???
    Stay tuned.
In my former life, as a professor, I could apply for federal grants to do my research. Maybe I should send a bill to someone for ink, paper, and time.
There is a problem here- but it could be Epson, Apple, or Adobe at this point.

    Jeff,
My sincere apologies -- I asked John Caponigro - who sent me over to Andrew - and we sat and talked right next to you ... maybe I needed a few minutes at the end of the meeting for more Qs. and As.
So - now that we know there really IS a problem -- how do we fix it???
What will happen if I am sending a job to the 9800 - with MK - designated as my default printer - and then, at the same time - send a job to the 9900 - but now select it as the default printer in the middle of the 9800's job?
Any chance that OS 10.5.7 will fix this - or do we wait and start-over with 10.6 (Snow Leopard)?
It was a great Epson session in Chicago - you were terrific - and I'm not at all surprised to learn that you knew the answer.
    Dick
And - this just in ----
With the 9800 Epson designated as the DEFAULT printer, I sent a job to the 9900 (now no longer the default) - and (even more drum rolls....) the print is perfect.
So - it appears to be an EPSON - APPLE problem specific to the 9800 (in my case).
If you have more than one printer - test the problem by changing the DEFAULT status around in Print-Fax.
    And - thanks, again, Jeff.

  • Epson 9800 printing with Airport Express

    Hello,
I am trying to print to my Epson Stylus Pro 9800 via a new Airport Express. I want to print from my iMac running OSX Mavericks. All software is up-to-date on my Mac and Airport hardware. I downloaded the latest driver from Epson. I have tried the steps outlined in the forums of reseting, reloading the printers etc.
Seems I can't get this thing to print wirelessly. I tried printing connected directly from my computer via the same USB cable and it works perfectly.
Not sure what to do. The computer is able to add the printer just fine. My computer recognizes it and loads it up for use. Seems like everything connects up until the point of printing. The print dialogue box says, "Printing - Connected to printer" but all I get is the candy striped progress bar and no printing. Seems like there is a bit of a disconnect somewhere but I can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone know if the Epson Stylus Pro 9800 can even print wirelessly?
    Thanks!

On your Mac......if you previously installed the printer at the USB port of the Mac.....then you will see an indication that the printer has been installed when you open System Preferences / Printers and Scanners.
And....if you installed the printer again using your Mac when the Epson was connected to the AirPort Express......that will be indicated in Printers and Scanners as well.
In other words, it will appear as if you have the same printer installed twice. But, closer inspection will reveal that the printer is installed in two places or locations on your network.....one on your Mac and the other on the AirPort.
When you click the Print command, you must choose the correct printer location......either at the Mac....or at the AirPort from the "two" installed printers.
It sounds like you may have installed the printer at the AirPort correctly, but you are trying to print to the printer installed at the Mac.....and it is not there.
Another possibility would be that the Epson 9800 appears to be a professional version printer, not a simple consumer model. If nothing above works, this may be a model that will only work when it is connected to a computer.  Epson Support would be the folks to ask about that.

Hello, I have exactly the same problem. I could have written the same text. And I have'nt found solutions. Except, perhaps, change this printer (and quit HP?).
Any suggestions would be really much appreciated.

  • Can't print from Mac to Windows printer

I have a wireless network of 3 computers and a printer. One is a desktop running XP with the printer attached. The other is a laptop with XP. And the last is a MacBook with 10.4.11.
I can print from both computers running XP but I can't print from the Mac. The Mac sees the printer and I can add it and try to print from it. When I try to print I get the error message:
    NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY
I later get the "Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry in 60 seconds" message too.

Be sure the printer name assigned in Windows is not more than 11 alphanumeric characters. Long names with punctuation and the like are known to cause problems.

    Tutorial: Resolving common printer problems
Mac OS X offers a robust printing system with built-in support for hundreds of devices from a wide body of manufacturers. It's not without flaws, however, and printers often become unrecognized or non-functional after a significant Mac OS X update. Printers connected through hubs or AirPort base stations can also exhibit some frustrating issues.
Below is a run-down of the most generally successful printer workarounds. Keep trying until one of them sticks.
Use Printer Setup Repair This tool lets you verify properties of the root user, the Printing Services (lp) user, and Print Operators (lp) groups, reset the printing system, perform CUPS maintenance and more. Run through its set of maintenance tasks before delving into further printer troubleshooting. See how to use it in this article.
Re-install CUPS If you are experiencing printer issues after applying an incremental Mac OS X update, problems may have occurred with your CUPS installation during the update process.
The file is available from this Web site: http://www.cups.org/software.php, and is labeled cups-1.2.1.dmg
Delete then re-add printers/Reset printing system Open Printer Setup Utility, located in Applications/Utilities and look at the "Printer List" Highlight and delete all entries.
Alternatively, go to the "Printer Setup Utility" menu at the top of the screen and select "Reset Printing System".
Click the "Add" button and re-add your printer(s).
Gutenprint and usbtb Some users have been able to resolve printer communication issues by installing the excellent open-source Epson printer drivers available as part of the Gutenprint package (formerly known as Gimp-print) and usbtb, a CUPS back-end for USB printing.
Remove non-required drivers Removing extraneous drivers from /Library/Printers(name of manufacturer) can sometimes resolve printer issues. Remove files that are for other models than your own.
Re-install drivers Re-installation of printer drivers from original media or from a Web download (either directly through the manufacturers site or via a search by model/manufacturer on VersionTracker) can resolve some printer issues.
Try disconnecting from network In some cases, LAN-connected printer, seemingly broken by the Mac OS X update can restored to normal operation by simply disconnecting the device from the network then re-connecting it.
"Communicator Error" -- try power cycling If you receive a "Communication Error" message when attempting to print after updating to Mac OS X 10.4.5, the first workaround you should try is power cycling the printer, as well as disconnecting then re-connecting it to the Mac.
Connecting directly to the Mac If you are having printer problems and are using an external USB hub, try connecting the printer directly to your Mac.
One reader who had success with this method writes:
"Unfortunately the update to Mac OS X 10.4.6 has eliminated the ability to use my Lexmark Z600 series USB printer on my iMac G5 20" iSight (rev C).
"I resolved the problem via the following: I unplugged my external USB hub and plugged the printer directly to my computer."
Disconnect from AirPort and reset For those who are using printers connected to an AirPort Express, Extreme or another wireless device with USB connections, you might want to try the following:
Disconnect the printer from the AirPort unit (or other router)
    Wait a few minutes
    Plug it back in
    Restart the base station unit
Check for your printer to appear in AirPort Admin Utility (located in Applications/Utilities)
Print one copy In some cases, using print one copy instead of the standard print command can result in elimination of crashes that occur during printing.
Try IP printing instead of AppleTalk Some Macs are unable to see AppleTalk printers that are located on the local AirPort (or other wireless) network. Several users have been able to workaround this issue by using IP printing instead of AppleTalk.
Last resort -- Archive and Install As a last resort, try performing the somewhat tedious Archive and Install process, then re-upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.7. This has solved some otherwise inexplicable printer issues for MacFixIt readers.

  • New Epson WF-7620 will not print; is offline after installing setup software

This is a problem that took me many hours to solve; but I did solve it.  I thought I would offer it up so no one has to go thru the pain I did.
The problem is that during the Epson set-up procedure for Wireless printing, the mac cannot find the printer (or verify the printer exists) even though the printer has an IP address assigned to it.  The reason for this is the printer (mine at least) comes configured with Bonjour turned off . . . and you'll need to turn this in for any mac to add the printer in a conventional way.
The way to turn Bonjour on is as follows:
    1.  Pull up a browser and type in the IP address assigned to the printer.  On my home wifi network it will be something like XXX.168.1.3 where XXX is some 3 digit number.  Once you pass thru the security queries the browser puts up, proceed to that site.  You'll see a web page with detail on the printer.  Go to Wifi/Network Settings->Services->Protocol.  Find the Bonjour Settings and click on Use Bonjour.  Exit this page and you'll see your printer when you add a Printer from Settings->Printers & Scanners--> the Plus sign (to add).

Try Linc's suggestion first.  That should cure your issue.  If not, here's something else to consider:
    PrinterMaccer wrote:
I installed the software from the site ...
Apple keeps a set of current software for Epson printers.  You should start by going to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and delete the printer from the list (using the "-" key).  Then download Apple's software version from here:
Epson Printer Drivers v2.18 for OS X
Finally, set up the printer as shown here:

  • Photoshop: Printing: via Mac from printer on Windows 7

    Hi all,
First off - if you know a better place I should be posting this question, please inform.
I'm trying to print from Photoshop onto a printer connected via a windows computer. I've tried everything and am nearly at the point of paying somebody 40 bucks to just set it up for me. This is a pain since I have to interrupt the person working at the windows computer just to send an order to print.
Printer: Epson Stylus Pro 9600 Ultrachrome Ink
    Connected to: Windows 7 Computer
    Shared to: iMac 10.8.3
    Set windows to workgroup
Made sure workgroup same name in Mac
Set all shared settings in Windows to everyone and allowed everyone to make all changes
Set printer sharing settings to everyone and allow to print/manage.
Tried connecting printer from Mac finder: Go > Connect to Server > smb://[IP address] AND smb://[user@computer]/users
Tried connecting printer from Print & Scan section of System Preferences: + > Windows > workgroup > jim-pc (computer name). It asks me for a name and password at this point. No name and password combination works. Tried "guest" "guest" and that seemed to work until I tried printing. Instead of completing the print job it states something like "Waiting for Authorization". I tried authorizing as "guest" "guest" but the print disappears from the queue.
Tried connecting from Print & Scan: + > Advanced > Type: LPD/LPR Host of Printer, Device: Another Device, URL: "Ipd://[IP Address]. Left name as IP address. Tried Generic PostScript Printer - didn't work. Tried Epson S9600 drive (updated it)- didn't work. Tried Generic PCL Printer and it actually printed a test page! It left the printer running like it was thinking, though. When I went to print from Photoshop it no longer worked and I couldn't print a test page. I tried the same thing with changing the name to no avail.
I'm completely at a loss. I've gone over all of the options I've found on other forums. I spent 6+ hours (yep) trying to figure this out on the weekend. If anyone has any ideas, helpful links and/or step-by-step guides I would be grateful. If you need more information or you're part of a site like crossloops and want that $40... I think I'm at that point now!
    Thanks for reading,
    Riley

You will need a print server software on your Windows machine. There is no way to print directly via a Windows share from Mac.

  • Epson Stylus C88+ won't print from iPhoto 6

Recently bought an Epson Stylus C88+ printer to replace the Stylus C86 that is not printing well anymore. Discovered that the C88+ does not print from iPhoto 6.0.5! The printer does print from Photoshop Elements 2 and does print documents fine. When we choose "Apple P" it starts the printing process, makes the starting noise, but then stops and the red exclamation point appears next to the printer icon on the dock. The original driver came from the printer's install CD that came with printer. I had seen some instructions from Epson about removing and reinstalling the printer driver, so I have done the following: 1) removed the 2 printers above from the Printer Setup Utility, 2) reset the printing system in Printer Setup Utility, 3) removed the Epson folder from the Library folder in Mac HD, 4) deleted the Epson printer receipts from the Library folder in Mac HD, and 5) reinstalled the C88+ driver from the Epson website. It still does the same as before. Any othe ideas?

I'm not sure what I should be looking for in Page setup settings and iPhoto print window. How do I check the driver in Printer Setup Utility? I already added the printer after reinstalling the driver from the Epson website; Printer setup utility seemed to find the driver when I did that because the printer is listed and printer is otherwise working.
I also looked at Colosync utility as you suggested and found my computer under devices and verified the Profiles in Profile First Aid. Nothing was found wrong for any Epson device, only some Lexmark profiles were incorrect (they must be ones installed with Tiger that I don't use), so didn't do the repair.
Here is what it says in System Profiler for the printer (doesn't actually say Epson USB and I wonder what the question mark means):
    Stylus C88:
    Status: Idle
    Print Server: Local
    Driver Version: 2.72
    Default: Yes
    URI: usb://EPSON/Stylus C88?serial=FGS020609051637250
    PPD: EPSON C88 Series (1)
    PPD File Version: 1.0
    PostScript Version: (3011.104) 0
I'm not sure where they get that serial number from. The one on the back of the printer is totally different. I was a little suspicious that nowhere in the Printer setup utility or system profiler does it actually say I have a C88+; it just says C88 series, etc. It says on the C88+ download page says I would get driver v2.7aA. I guess this is the same as what I have. I was warned by Epson that the C88 and C88+ are 2 totally different printers, but when I checked the C88 download page it says I would get v2.5bA, so I don't think I downloaded the wrong driver.
For anyone else who has the same problem, I have discovered that as a workaround I can open photos in Photoshop Elements from iPhoto and can print them using Elements, so I'm ok unless I want to try printing an iPhoto greeting card, etc.
    Thanks for any additional thoughts.

  • Having problems with my epson perfection V600 scanned images printing in blue hue.  Anyone have a solution?

Have new Macbook Pro, just bought the mentioned epson scanner.  Running Mac OS X 10.7.2.  Have HP photo smart 8250.  Scanned images of white, lined index cards print out in blue hue.  Trying to figure out what my problem is.  Running scanner with Image Capture.  Any pointers in right direction welcome.

You really need to check with Epson with regards to that printer.  This forum is for the MacBook Pro hardware.

  • Epson 9800 laying down WAY too much ink

I use a MacBook Pro to print to an Epson 9800 roll printer -- been doing this for years with no problem.
    UNTIL NOW!
All of a sudden, the Epson is laying down huge quantities of ink, especially when I print onto film (for screen printing). It puts down so much ink, the ink dribbles down the film and drips off the printer, pooling on the floor, until I leap up and cancel the job. What's more, the printer is printing a light-colored background to images that had no background to begin with.
Here's the catch: *this only happens in Photoshop.* (I'm using CS 5.1.) If I take the same image file, place it in Illustrator, and print it, it comes out just fine. So the problem lies in Photoshop's print options. Somehow, something got changed in the last couple weeks, and I have no idea what.
Here's what Epson support has to say about it:
Unfortunately we don't know what is causing the issue. We have seen an increase in calls with people having issues with CS5 but we can't do anything about it as we do not make Photoshop. Everyone is able to print from other programs just like you are, so it is narrowed down to the Photoshop program...
I'm hoping that someone here will be familiar with this *particular* printing problem, and what the *specific* Photoshop printing option might be that is causing this.
Thanks in advance for your help!

    also,
rule out the obvious that you are printing on the correct side of the paper
that you have at least deleted the printer, ran all OS-Photoshop-Printer updates and added the printer back and rebooted
