Epson Artisan 700 and Epson PX700W (Europe) wireless on MacBook

Can someone please let me know if they have successfully installed the EPSON PX700W (which, I believe, is called the Epson Artisan 700 in the US and the Epson TX700W in Australia - the specs seem to be identical) on a Late 2008 aluminium unibody MacBook running OS X 10.5.8?
I need to buy a new printer urgently and this is my printer of choice, however, from the Mac forums that I see in Italy everyone is complaining that it doesn't work wirelessly on their Macs. Some say they can print wirelessly but cannot use the scan function wirelessly. It's important for me to be able to use the wireless function so that two computers on my AirPort network can use the same printer.
I would be very grateful if someone could let me know whether they have the above printer working wirelessly under 10.5.8.
Cheers
Tricia

To answer my own question..... I bought the Epson PX700W on Monday (aka Artisan 700 and TX700W) - the initial setup did not work so I uninstalled and reinstalled the software and it is now working flawlessly (and wirelessly) with my late 2008 aluminium unibody MacBook. I must add that the photo printing quality (direct from iPhoto) is excellent. I will be interested to see how long the inks last.

  • OS 10.6.4 compatibility with HP OfficeJet 6500 & Epson Artisan 700

Just purchased MacBook Pro and upgraded iMAC and Mac Pro on my local network to OS 10.6.4. iMAC is connected to local network via Ethernet, other computers and printers HP OfficeJet 6500 and Epson Artisan 700 connected via wireless. All went pretty good except for the two printers. You need to install Rosetta for some 3rd party software to work. It's on the OS 10.6.3 disk.
The HP OfficeJet 6500 is new. In the printer box was a notice to NOT use the enclosed CD's if using OS 10.6. HP manual was terrible. Key was getting the local network operating and then using HP printer keypad to select SETUP/NETWORK SETUP/WIRELESS SETUP WIZARD. It automatically found the name of my local network and then asked me to enter the WEP Key Code of my local network. For some reason the WIRELESS SETUP WIZARD didn't show up for the first day. Now have access to the printer from all computers - even duplex mode works.
Can't say the same for the Artisan 700 we've had for one year and was working good with OS 10.5. The only computer that could not access the Artisan 700 was the one connected via Ethernet to the local network (other computers wireless). Tried downloading Epson drivers, Network setup S/W, etc. Epson says there is a problem with TCP/IP connection and are "working on the problem" - in the mean time use Bonjour driver. I installed print drivers from OS 10.6.3 disk and then did Apple software update. Don't know why but suddenly Bonjour driver showed up and the Artisan printer was recognized by the computer connected to network via ethernet. Also had to manually set up the Artisan printer again using the printer keypad to select local network and enter the WEP Key Code. Duplex printing does not work though. Year ago when we bought the printer had to call Epson who after 1.5 hr on phone got duplex working, but didn't know why or how. I'd taken notes and tried same thing, but didn't work this time.
Perhaps this will help other people deciding to do an OS upgrade.

Thanks for response on the Epson duplex mode problem. I downloaded the updater, but it would NOT open after I installed it. The install created a second file called InkJet Printer 2 (original was w/o the 2). The updater tool is v 8.33 on the one just downloaded while the existing one was v 6.66, so definitely a later version. The v 6.66 gave message "unexpected quit", so it would not open either. Got same results on iMAC and MAC PRO. Do I delete the original InkJet printer file before installing the new download? Was afraid to as afraid driver would not work at all. What am I doing wrong???
When select duplex mode in the print window get message "duplexer not installed" on both computers.

  • Filter failed, pdftopdf quit unexpectedly. Epson Artisan 700 on OSX 10.9.4.

When I try to print on my Epson Artisan 700, it says "filter failed" under the print job, and "pdftopdf quit unexpectedly" in the error message. I've tried resetting my printing system in System Preferences, it hasn't worked.  I'm running OSX 10.9.4. Thanks in advance for any help, I'm at a complete loss!

What worked for me was downloading and installing this driver http://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/16158/
Then reboot printer and it should work! Good luck :-)

  • Wireless printing (Epson Artisan 725) and multiple networks

Hello. After spending the better part of a day trying to get the wi-fi printing to work on my new Epson Artisan 725 all-in-one, I finally realized the problem is this:
My MacBook Pro (with Snow Leopard) is connected to my home office network via ethernet and my home/family network via the AirPort card. This has never posed a problem before, and I've been able to print to the USB printer on my wife's MacBook, for example, just fine.
I wasn't able to properly configure this wireless Epson (on the family network) until I unhooked the ethernet cable from my MBP, and it won't print unless I do that, either.
So I could switch the printer to my office network, but then my kids won't be able to print to it. Not the end of the world, but is there a way I can be connected to both networks and use this printer?
Esoteric problem, I know. Thanks for any advice.
    -Doug

My name is Syd and I work for Epson America, Inc.
Unfortunately, the printer can not be on 2 networks at the same time. You would need to use the printer control panel and connect to each network whenever you wanted to change. Using the ethernet cable would not allow any wireless access. The only thing we could recommend would be to connect to one network hardwire or wireless, and if the other network has only one computer, connect this USB. The printer will do network and USB simultaneously.
We would recommend contacting technical support via phone if there are any questions or they can provide a walk through of the installation. The direct number is 562-276-4382.
    Here to help,

  • Epson Artisan 810 and Snow Leopard

Up until yesterday, a new Epson Artisan 810 all-in-one printer, connected direct to the Mac via USB, worked perfectly.
Now the printer queue icon appears, disappears and nothing happens. I am able to use the all-in-one's scanning feature via Image Capture, and printing seems to work on my 17-inch Early 2008 MacBook Pro.
So far I've gone through the repair disk permissions route and reset the printing system. I also reinstalled Epson's Snow Leopard printer drives. No change.
Another printer, an Ethernet networked Xerox Phaser 8560DN works fine.
I welcome the collective wisdom of this board to solve this problem before I go to Epson and have a headache.
    Peace,

using iphoto on macbook with 10.6.2. Not able to print from iphoto. Get ijpcfoundation plugin error. have seen some posts and tried fixes described but no solution yet. Scheduled apple expert call and was told basically they didn't have a fix and might consider buying a new printer. This is my first mac product and switched from pc to avoid problems like this. Hard to believe that is the customer service you get from Apple.

  • Epson Stylus Pro and Epson Stylus Pro XL

    Dear Friends,
I am looking for drivers for my two old Espon Printers "Stylus PRO" and "Stylus PRO XL".
Unfortunately, I did not found anything on Epson Web portal and into the good packet "GIMP Gutenprint".
On web is disponible just version for MAC OS 7 and MAC OS 9, but not for MAC OS X.
Anybody can suggest me how I can solve this issue?
Thank you guys for your help.

PS Those printed are connected on MAC with a Serial port>USB connector, that is going well on Windows Computer (PC well recognize the printers).

    Hi there,
Will This Work With My Printer?
The original Epson Stylus Color and Stylus Pro should work. These are the original models of the series and have no other model number associated with them.

Also, have you tried one of the other Stylus Pro Drivers In Printer Setup Utility?

  • Epson Artisan 810 and Aperture

Set up the Artisan 810 wirelessly via my Time Capsule yesterday. I am using Epson photo paper. Get good photo prints from iPhoto and Page (and normal documents). I hear that it works with PhotoShop, but I don't own it or plan to own it.
However, photos printed directly from Aperture carry vertical lines and very poor print quality. Time with Epson tech resulted in only ascertaining that "Aperture is the problem". Anyone know of an update or other way around this problem. It's a bit of a 'pain' to have to copy photos from Aperture to iPhoto to print.
    Thanks in advance.

I am just trying to learn how to use an 810 with Aperture. So far I cannot get the reds to even come close to what I see on my monitor. They are much too purple. Working with an Epson rep I found that I could get fairly good match printing with Preview and using Adobe RGB. So far nothing has worked with Aperture. The 810 scans and prints color well by itself but I the problems with printing from the computer are disappointing.

  • Epson v 700 and PS CS5

I have a new scanner, Epson Perfection v 700 Photo. When I import the scanner via Photoshop CS5 the scanner program shuts down after each scan. I use a Silverfast SE8 scannerprogram.

This is how scanning into Photoshop works. While you're scanning, you cannot use PS, and when the scan has finished, you have to close the scanning program to be able to use PS.
You may find it better to scan directly from Silverfast, save the file, and then open it in PS.

  • Epson Artisan 810 and Snow Leopard and Photoshop....Print quality??

I'm a little lost to be honest. I'm not sure where my problem is...Photoshop, Epson, or Snow Leopard
I'm using Photoshop CS4 to edit my photos. I've constrained my cropping to designated print sizes, thus pixelation changes as well.
For example to create an 8x10 from a jpeg file uploaded to my computer from my camera (a sony cybershot dsc-w170 if you need to know, which by default upload files as jpegs), here is the following image info:
    3000 pixels x 2400 pixels
    25.4 cm x 20.32 cm
    with a resolution of 300 pixels/inch
I have the resolution set to BEST and when I print I've tried both document and proof quality (with printer color managment)
I'm using photo paper, gloss, but not Epson brand paper (don't know how much that might be contributing to the problem, if at all).
When I go to print my image the quality off the Epson is HORRIBLE.
Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong?? How do I get better print quality?
There is no option/method of changing the print type (document or photo) on the printer itself, which is obviously made to work best with a PC. So that leaves me with Photoshops options as far as I know.
Although I don't know if there's a way to change default print quality settings within Snow Leopard, or if I even have to.
Whatever the case may be...ultimately I need to know the following:
    paper brand/quality matters?
what program should I be trying to print photos from (photoshop, iphoto, whatever)
how to manipulate the photo quality within whichever program I should be using
and anything else important that I may not have thought of
Thanks so much. I've seen great reviews of photo print quality for this printer, so I have hope that this problem can be remedied....?

Your printer is supported by the latest update supplied by Apple.
Cheap paper usually results in cheap looking results.
I'm using HP paper with a HP printer with a Canon Eos Rebel camera that outputs
    something like 2592 x 1944.
CS4 handels these .jpgs quite fine.
I would first buy some premium Epson paper and see what happens.

  • Error message "auto duplexer is not installed" after a paper jam was removed on my epson artisan 837.

I print from a Macbook Pro (April '09) OSX 10.9.3 to an Epson Artisan 837 duplex all-in-one which has been functioning perfectly for some time. The other day while duplex printing I got a vague error message to the effect "printer error, turn off machine and power back on." I repeated that process several times waiting a period of time and/or doing it speedily. I even unplugged the printer from its outlet, turned off the computer, waited overnight and tried again, all to no avail. I then found the back tray had a paper jam which I removed and replaced the tray.  Since this ordeal I have NOT been able to use the duplex function. After apple's air-print, an Epson Customer Service person told me to add a printer in Systems, printer preferences and to simply add in the same printer (only one i have) but choose not to have it be air-print. This worked even though it gave me Epson Artisan 837 and Epson Artisan 837II (the first with air-print the second not). I must be missing some step this time, however, because although I now have essentially 2 printer choices, the Epson II has duplex printing choices grayed out and gives me the error message "auto duplexer is not installed." Sorry to make this so long, but can anyone help me with this problem?

Thank you. Those are beautifully written procedures.
Looks like it's a network issue. I reach the step, "Adding a printer using the wizard":
You must enter the following URL, you must use the Queue Name you noted down earlier
    http://<IP address of Mac>:631/printers/Queue Name
    which I do, entering
    http://192.168.0.4:631/printers/MP830
and I get the following error:
"Could not connect to the printer. You either entered a printer name that was incorrect or the specified printer is no longer connected to the server."
    And then I am toast!
Using the other procedure, I simply don't see the Mac's printers in the Bonjour Wizard's "Browse for Bonjour Printers" window.
Not sure where to go from here -- any ideas?
The Mac's IP (set via DHCP) is 192.168.0.4, subnet mask 255.255.255.0. The PC is 192.168.0.5, I can't find the subnet mask.
Pretty sure it's a network config issue, especially isnce I can Bonjour to my other Mac.
    TIA...

  • Epson Artisan 725 Arthic White - Not able to print wirelessly

I just got an Epson Artisan 725 and I'm amazed with the quality of the print job the downside is that even tough I have already done all necessary updates I'm still not able to print wirelessly. When I try to ad it on my printer's list I can not find it! Also, I realized that the manual of the printer is really poor on explanation and it is missing information about it.
I have a MCBP 15 running Mac OS X v10.6 wirelessly connected on a linksys router as the printer is also. The printer finds the wifi and connects to it susccesfuly but I still not able to find it!
If somebody can help me I really appreciate it!
Thank you in advance for any help!

I'd suggest going to the Epson website and checking/downloading the manual for your model; when I set up my Artisan 810, there were specific instructions on how to install it (both wired and wirelessly) - the wireless install included steps such as connecting it via a USB cable first and then disconnecting the cable at some point during the install process. Also, I had to enter the printer's MAC address on the router's website - if your model is similar to mine, you can get the MAC address by checking the setup settings on the LCD panel.

  • Need help getting OS 10.4.11 to recognize my new Epson Artisan 810

I just got an Epson Artisan 810 all in one printer. My macbook recognizes the printer (running through my wireless hub) but not the scanner. I have attempted to download the scanner drivers twice now.
Do I need to upgrade to Snow Leopard for this to work? I am operating with 10.4.11 and was previously using an HP Deskjet 950C.
    Any suggestions?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, lynnd33,
Do I need to upgrade to Snow Leopard for this to work?
No. It should work with Mac OS X 10.3.9, 10.4.11, 10.5.x, or 10.6.x
I just got an Epson Artisan 810 all in one printer. My macbook recognizes the printer (running through my wireless hub) but not the scanner.
You did not say, so did you restart your computer after installing the software and network connection? You might consider power cycling everything, i.e., shutdown everything, disconnect the broadband modem and hub from power, and wait 10-15 seconds. Then plug in power to Braodband modem first, wait about 5 seconds and plug in wireless hub/router. Once both devices light up normally turn on the printer and lastly, your computer. Once the computer is back up, repair disk permissions with Disk Utility.

  • Printer driver in Safari not compatible with Epson Artisan 730 printer

After being on the phone with Epson for 3 days, it seems as though Safari/Firefox/iMac is missing a driver for my Epson Artisan 730 printer.  Does anyone know how to rectify this? The printer is brand new, operating with Lion and prints out gibberish, 30 pages at a time. Help!

First some people have had problems getting the printer drivers to update via software update, make sure you have the correct drivers as shown in this table.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669
To see what driver you have go to System Preferences > Print and Scan > into the printer utility and under the general tab you'll see the driver version.
To force an update delete the old driver

I just resolved a problem with our Epson Artisan 730 and print quality, turns out the USB drivers and WIFI drivers are VERY different and the USB drivers offer much better quality, more options in the print dialog for quality and color management.
If you already have the correct version of the drivers maybe a mac connected to the printer via USB can share the printer and then you can print with the USB driver. I know that's a pain since that's what we did before we got the 730 with WIFI.

  • Printing in Word with Epson Artisan 730

I am posting for a friend, so I hope I have enought information. The Epson Artisan 730 seems to be working in MS Word because a document in US letter size prints properly. When I prepared a 16 cm x 23 cm. document and set up the printer as "other sizes" the print preview looks correct but the paper goes through and nothing is printed on it. Has anyone had this problem? Is it in the printer setup or in Word?
She said that her Mac version is OS X 10.9.2. Thanks for any suggestions about things to try.

  • Epson Artisan 810 -- Can't Scan to PC using Wireless or USB

I can scan using the Epson Scan Utility on my iMac and do so wirelessly, but cannot use the one-touch functionality of the Artisan 810 to either Scan to PC by Wireless Connection or by USB Connection. Wireless Connection doesn't even appear on the touch screen as an option! If I try to Scan to PC by selecting "USB Connection" I get "Communication error. Make sure the computer is connected, then try again." I have installed the newest driver from Epson -(Epson 13616.dmg) and am having no luck. Epson has been of no help other than to send me the latest driver before it was released. Help and thanks in advance!

i had a similar problem -I connected by printer to an iMac via a network cable to a Time Machine 802.111 router. Could print but not scan. I could only get the scan functions working by setting up the wireless connection on the printer. But then I could not print until i reconnected the network cable between the printer and the TIme capsule. Tel support from Epson seemed more confused than me!
Should I have to have the printer networked by cable as well as wireless? That seems silly. I must be missing a step in one of the setups.
