Epson Artisan 800 support in Snow Leapard

Hi. I was wondering if anyone upgrading to SL has the Epson Artisan 800 printer. The Epson site indicates that they don't yet have compatible drivers for SL, but the Apple Support Site lists it as being supported with drivers included in SL. I would like to upgrade to SL, but can't give up my printer. P.S. currently the printer is network connected to three systems.

Until recently, I had difficulty with wireless wifi scanning on the Epson 810 Artisan under Mac OS X 10.6.1. Wireless printing worked fine, but scanning did not. For those looking for wifi scanning, I'm pleased to report that it now works after installing the most recent updated drivers released 10/9/09:
Epson Printer Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6.1 2.1
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/firmware_hardware/epsonprinterdriver sformacosxv1061.html
It is suggested you download the drivers, then remove and re-add the printer under System Preferences > Print & Fax, after which the scanning functions are accessible.

  • I have an HP Photosmart 8200 and and Epson Artisan 800 printer and neither one is showing up in my printer selection any more.  How do I get these back?

I have a MacBook Pro that came with Mac OS 10.7 Lion on it, and had been printing on both an HP Photosmart 8200 and an Epson Artisan 800.  I had an issue where I would print from Photoshop and every time I would print I'd need to make a new printer.  I don't think that it was ONLY WAY, but it worked for me.  Anyways, I finally got tired of scrolling down the list to choose the new printer  – HP Photosmart 8200_23 – or something like that, so I deleted some of the printers that had extra numbers.  This is where the print Print & Scan dialog in the system prefs has the little plus and minus.  It turns out that I pressed the minus on everything - going overboard with my clicks.  Now, I have NO PRINTER and each time my computer tries to download drivers from HP and Epson, they have no updates for me.  When I go on there website there are no drivers for Mac 10.7.  I have no idea how to get my printers back.  Any ideas or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Cannot print from Aperture v.2.1.2 to an Epson Artisan 800 printer

I recently purchased an Epson Artisan 800 printer and I would like to be able to print from Aperture. Unfortunately, I have been unable to do so, in spite of multiple conversations with the Epson support group. I am able to print from other applications, such as TextEdit, Safari, and iPhoto. However, when I try to print from Aperture, I never get any output from the printer. Depending on the image that I try to print from Aperture, I will see an error message flash on the printer's display screen.
I captured the following error message from the "system.log" file:

I am having this problem on both my iMac G5 and my wife's MacBook. Both are running the latest versions of Mac OS X (10.5.6) and the latest version of Aperture.
If anyone has been able to print from Aperture to an Epson Artisan 800 printer, please let me know how you did it. Thanks.

I run 10.4.11 and am unfamiliar with that specific Epson. However step one with Epson troubleshooting is to do any OS updates then download and install the latest Epson driver, even if what you are using is current. The new install will simply install over the old installation. Repair Permissions via Disk Utility immediately before and again immediately after both the OS updates and the printer driver installation.
Once good Epson paper and a new driver installation are done the final step is to carefully follow Gary Ballard's excellent color management tutorials:

  • Can't Duplex print from Acrobat Pro 9.3.2 to Epson Artisan 800

I can not duplex Print from Acrobat Pro 9.3.2 to an Epson Artisan 800.
I an running it from a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.3
I called Epson support and they could not help me.
However they suggested that I try using Adobe Reader.
Well that works OK if I choose to print the document as an image, but I would prefer to just be able to work within Acrobat Pro.
Does anyone outthere have any settings within Acrobat Pro that would enable duplex printing?
    Thanks

  • Illustrator CS fails to communicate with Epson Artisan 800 Printer?

I've recently added an Epson Artisan 800 to my work station. It is recognized and prints from all applications with the exception of Illustrator. I make sure that all page set-up's and print set-ups on pre-print screen are set for the Artisan 800. When I send a file to print, the printer icon bounces and just as soon as the job title appears in the print que, it disappears, without ever communicating with the printer or sending the job.
Is there a compatibility issue with CS and the Artisan 800 that anyone knows about?
..... that is the old "CS", not 2. 3 or 4

  • Epson artisan 800 scanning

I'm running an iMac with OS X 10.9.4. Ever since this upgrade was installed I have not been able to scan from my Epson Artisan 800 over the network.
I can install the printer with it's IP and it shows up and prints just fine but the scanning utility says it can communicate to the printer, "Image Capture" doesn't show the scanner as a device, all epson utilities do not see the scanner at all. I've run the OS software upgrade and all I get is "No Updates Available".
I connected the printer via a USB and everything works great but I can't run it via USB because its on the other side of my office and no room close to my iMac besides, there is no reason it can't be run over the network.
I need some help getting this working again because my business uses this scanner quite a bit and right now it's NOT working. I've had to do my scanning elsewhere and this is not acceptable.
    Thanks

    Try resetting the printing system.

  • Epson Artisan 800 can't scan over the network (wireless)

    Hi,
I installed the Artisan 800 all-in-one drivers and software. I can print wirelessly. I looked up Epson scanning setup help. When I open Epson Scan Settings.app, click on "Network", but all the buttons are disbled (unclickable). Therefore, I cannot click "Add" and all the subsequent steps. I tried adding the app to the "incoming allowed" list in Firewall, disabled the Firewall entirely, but to no avail. Funny thing is, it was working a couple of months ago when I had the printer new, but since then I have installed a couple of OS X updates (I believe I had 10.5.5 when it was working). In the intervening period, I also messed around with the OS X supplied Printer drivers (deleted a whole bunch of files, not sure if some required files were deleted), and I noted that the recent 10.5.7 update (and possibly 10.5.6 before) did not restore those files. However today I uninstalled all the Epson drivers/files using the A800 supplied CD, and reinstalled everything. I even tried installing the scanner files from Epson's webpage. Nothing worked. Please suggest something!

i had a similar problem -I connected by printer to an iMac via a network cable to a Time Machine 802.111 router. Could print but not scan. I could only get the scan functions working by setting up the wireless connection on the printer. But then I could not print until i reconnected the network cable between the printer and the TIme capsule. Tel support from Epson seemed more confused than me!
Should I have to have the printer networked by cable as well as wireless? That seems silly. I must be missing a step in one of the setups.

  • Where can I find updated drivers for and Epson Artisan 800 all-in-one. Epson just refers to the apple update but there is nothing there or at Epson.

The old scanner software is not working after updating to Mavericks and Epson driver downloads refer to apple.

You may have to wait until Epson releases a new driver.

  • Just installed snow leopard/ now my Epson artisan 725 will not print

I downloaded snow leopard( so i could transer my i tunes to mynew ipod(7) onto my macbook.( older original macbook 5+yrs)
what do i have to do to make my Epson artisan 725 wireless printer communicate with my laptop again.( my mac os is 10.6.8   )  i do not see the 725 on the list of compatible printers .

Snow Leopard is not a download. Did you install it from disk? What OS did you have before?
You may want to check on Epson's web site to see if they have an updated driver.
    Best of luck.

  • Epson Artisan 810 and Snow Leopard

Up until yesterday, a new Epson Artisan 810 all-in-one printer, connected direct to the Mac via USB, worked perfectly.
Now the printer queue icon appears, disappears and nothing happens. I am able to use the all-in-one's scanning feature via Image Capture, and printing seems to work on my 17-inch Early 2008 MacBook Pro.
So far I've gone through the repair disk permissions route and reset the printing system. I also reinstalled Epson's Snow Leopard printer drives. No change.
Another printer, an Ethernet networked Xerox Phaser 8560DN works fine.
I welcome the collective wisdom of this board to solve this problem before I go to Epson and have a headache.
    Peace,

using iphoto on macbook with 10.6.2. Not able to print from iphoto. Get ijpcfoundation plugin error. have seen some posts and tried fixes described but no solution yet. Scheduled apple expert call and was told basically they didn't have a fix and might consider buying a new printer. This is my first mac product and switched from pc to avoid problems like this. Hard to believe that is the customer service you get from Apple.

  • Wireless printing (Epson Artisan 725) and multiple networks

Hello. After spending the better part of a day trying to get the wi-fi printing to work on my new Epson Artisan 725 all-in-one, I finally realized the problem is this:
My MacBook Pro (with Snow Leopard) is connected to my home office network via ethernet and my home/family network via the AirPort card. This has never posed a problem before, and I've been able to print to the USB printer on my wife's MacBook, for example, just fine.
I wasn't able to properly configure this wireless Epson (on the family network) until I unhooked the ethernet cable from my MBP, and it won't print unless I do that, either.
So I could switch the printer to my office network, but then my kids won't be able to print to it. Not the end of the world, but is there a way I can be connected to both networks and use this printer?
Esoteric problem, I know. Thanks for any advice.
    -Doug

My name is Syd and I work for Epson America, Inc.
Unfortunately, the printer can not be on 2 networks at the same time. You would need to use the printer control panel and connect to each network whenever you wanted to change. Using the ethernet cable would not allow any wireless access. The only thing we could recommend would be to connect to one network hardwire or wireless, and if the other network has only one computer, connect this USB. The printer will do network and USB simultaneously.
We would recommend contacting technical support via phone if there are any questions or they can provide a walk through of the installation. The direct number is 562-276-4382.
    Here to help,

  • EPSON Artisan 810 a Bi-Function, not Multi-Function, All-In-One

I was in a local OfficeMax, looking at an *EPSON Artisan 810* all-in-one (Print, Scan. FAX, Copy), which came in a box covered with text and imagery detailing all of the amazing features it has. To my delight, I discovered that it supported OS X, albeit, they note that "some features like sharing memory cards over a network may not be supported". You'd think that would imply that tertiary (or specialty) functions may not work. But, surely, the basic 4 functions would, right?
It would have been nice if the employees had any kind of a clue with regard to the products they sell. But they don't. So I checked some support forums and the EPSON driver download page (on my phone), and sure enough, they even have Snow Leopard drivers. So I buy the printer and take it home.
I should have suspected something may be amiss when the installer asked me to enter my administrator password, but the dialog requesting the credentials kept losing focus, making it difficult to type in my password. Yikes.
I managed to get through the 30-part install (well, it felt like 30 separate, chained installers). The installer vanished, and I had no printer in my "Print and FAX" Preference Pane. Nice.
So, I add a printer manually, and it did see the EPSON as a Bonjour device. So I jump over to try the scanner, and I get a troubleshooter. After scrounging around the web, I found some advice from a user who discovered that you have to go into the Utilities folder and run an EPSON scanner utility to find and configure the device. ugh. Once I did that, it seemed to work.
Now, on to the FAX. The preference pane did not see a FAX device anywhere, and the EPSON printer itself has no FAX capabilities. So back to the web. After an hour of searching, nada. And no one even complaining about this apparent "missing" feature. So I hit the manual, and notice that FAXing from a computer is only supported in Windows.
At this point, I'm not even going to try to get the "Copy" function working.
    OFFICEMAX Knowledgeable Sales Staff: FAIL
    EPSON Customer Support: FAIL
    EPSON Product: FAIL
    EPSON Integrity: FAIL
So, in summary, this is a bi-function, not a multi-function, device. It prints and scans. They should put this on the box so people know what they're getting (or in this case, not getting). It's a real shame too, because I went with EPSON because Hewlett Packard did something similar with a computer I bought. The machine was billed as a multimedia and entertainment computer, yet, it couldn't play a game that was 5 years old. Do any of these companies have their metaphoric poop together?
And don't get me started on Lexmark.

Epson has the (annoying to me) built-in default of numbering each scan; so whatever name you would decide to use, you would still wind up with "mypicture093.jpg" for instance. That is true if you use the Epson Scan software. In any case, if you use that, once you click on "scan", you should get a new pop up window where you can enter the name (called Prefix by Epson) and where to save it. You cannot get rid of the "start number", but you can delete the number once the icon appears on your desktop or in a folder: just click it once and then hit "return" on your keyboard and you can change part of the name or the entire name for that matter.
If you choose to use the OS built-in app (under System Preferences -> Print & Fax), simply highlight the Artisan 810 and click on Scan and then on "open scanner"; you are then presented with a new window where you can change all sorts of settings incl. the name.

  • Documents stuck in queue with Epson Artisan 725 Printer

I just bought an Epson Artisan 725 all-in-one printer, replacing an Epson Stylus Photo R200.
I dutifully ran the install CD. The printer is found on the Airport Network. The iMac G4, running 10.4 can print. Neither the iMac G5 or the MacBook, both running 10.5.8 can print. Documents, including the test page, get stuck in the queue, with a status of "stopped," and can't be requeued.
I get the infamous error: (/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Contents/MacO S/rastertoescpII) stopped with status 206!
which I can "catch" and copy from the print queue. Or I can see it in the CUPS error log.
I've tried all kinds of uninstalling, reinstalling, reinstalling upgraded drivers from the Epson site, repairing disk permissions. I even got all the way up to the Epson second tier of support.
They say it's an Apple problem, and I have no AppleCare.
I would upgrade to Snow Leopard on the MacBook if I knew this would fix the problem. I'm going to do that anyway. But I will still need the iMac G5 to print also.
    What could I try that I haven't?

Not good here. I've been at it for two days to no avail.
I have an old G3 iBook; it networks with the Artisan 725, and I can even capture a scan. The printer works fine with my PowerBook G4, but anytime I try to print from the iBook the job queue stops and will not resume. I've run to the end of tech support, reset the Printer Setup Utility, I've deleted and reinstalled the driver and utilities more times than I can count. I even erased reformatted and reinstalled the hard drive, logged on from alternate accounts, even went at it with the fixya mac Printer Setup Repair app. Nothing seems to work.
I'm guessing that it's just time for a new computer, but dang-it there's nothing I've run across that says it's impossible to use the Artisan 725 with a G3. Anybody with a suggestion would be rewarded with my undying gratitude.

  • The photo print quality from my Mac to my Epson Artisan 810 is poor.  When I take the same photo files (JPEGs) to my PC to print to the same printer without even uploading them to the PC, they print brighter and crisper from my PC.

The photo print quality from my Mac to my Epson Artisan 810 is poor.  I just purchased my iMac for my photography business in Jan. (this is my first Mac).  When I first tried printing, I noticed the quality wasn't as good as I expected it to be.  Then, I had to print 4-3.5x5s on a sheet, so I e-mailed the image to myself and opened it on my PC to print it (much easier to print that way on PC in Windows Photo Gallery - I think it's impossible to print that way in iPhoto).  That's when I first noticed that when I take the same photo files (JPEGs) to my PC to print to the same printer without even uploading them to the PC, they print brighter and crisper from my PC.
I've already been on the phone and e-mail w/Applecare many times over this issue. We've tried creating a test user and printing from there, and we've tried reinstalling the OS.  I've tried printing from iPhoto, ImageCapture, and Preview apps/utilities, all w/the same result - no comparison to the PC-printed versions (no enhancements have been performed on the PC).
I'm out of ideas, and so is Applecare.  They say it's most likely a driver issue b/c the printer is outdated, and that the only solution is to buy a new printer.  BUT it is a pain for me to purchase a new printer - it takes days of research due to the nature of my business and the fact that I need a printer that can print directly onto a disc.  I love this printer and don't want to have to buy a new one if I don't have to.
