Same thing happens when i click restart.
No difference when i run it in Safe mode. And it won't let me create a new profile either. Is there anyway else i can extract my bookmarks? This is driving me crazy!Did the crash reporter send any crash reports?<br />
You can see the crash reports in this folder:
"C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports"
See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad
See also [[Firefox crashes when you open it]]
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br /><br />
See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile]]<br /><br />
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"<br /><br />
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)<br /><br />
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox<br /><br />
If that still causes the same problem then do a clean reinstall and remove the Firefox program folder.
* Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Epson DX5000 driver does not appear on list in'print using' box
Epson DX5000 driver does not appear in list despite the fact that I have downloaded the software.
When the printer is connected and I try and print I first go to 'add printer' in the print dialogue window. This takes me to the printer browser where the Epson DX5000 appears - at this starge I can't add as this option is not highlighted. Instead I have to go to 'print using' where I click on Epson - this is where the problems start as the DX is not on the very long list.Hi Ali
Yes I have installed the software
I have been using another printer so I realise that I don't need to add printer each time - this is the first time using this new printer
After I 'add printer' I am taken to the printer browser where the RX5000 is listed (this is in the default browser mode) when I then click the RX5000 the name and location appear in the appropriate boxes but I am unable to press the 'add' button. I have to go to more printers where I then go on to look in the epson folder.
this is where I get stuck as my printer is not listed -
I have a client who brought to my attention that when we wakes his iMac and MacBook after the screen dims or sleeps at login screen, that sometimes the screen does not refresh correctly and you must use the cursor to basically "clear the screen." I have witnessed this myself and elimiated all third party products and this still happens. I am starting to believe that is is a bug in 10.7.2. Has anyone witnessed this or have any suggestions on how to remedy? Thank you.
Thanks lynque. It turns out I did need a keychain repair, but that didn't fix the problem. I probably should have done this earlier, but I ended up unplugging all peripherals (2 firewire + 3 USB) then powered up without issue.
So I shut down, plugged in one at a time, and ran into the problem again after plugging in an external hard drive (WD My Book Essential). I repaired with disk utility, but the problem remained.
I then rebuilt the partitions with Disk Warrior, and now everything seems to work.... -
Firefox won't start after installing an update from Apple - what to do?
I am not computer savvy. When I installed a recent update from Apple on my Mac. Firefox won't open. Safari wouldn't either, but an Apple tech led me through steps to fix it. He didn't know what to try for Firefox.

Here is a link to your motherboard specifications.
The information on clearing CMOS is at the bottom of the document.
This is usually the last step before giving up on a motherboard.
The problem you are facing is motherboard hardware firmware related.

VirtualBox does not start correctly after kernel update
Just recently I have been unable to start VirtualBox after a kernel update. That is to say it seems to be running, but displays nothing.
The following processes are listed: VirtualBox, VBoxSVC, VBoxSVC, VBoxXPCOMPCD
The following modules are loaded: vboxdrv, vboxnetflt, vboxnetadp
Yesterday, when the same thing happened, I reinstalled VirtualBox and it worked correctly again.
I recently upgraded to systemd which has caused me some other problems, so that might have something to do with it
Cheers
Andrew

Satellite M30-107 does not boot correctly after Recovery disk usage
Hi
I've recently got hold of a second hand toshiba Satellite M30-107 laptop, and decided to freshen it up.
I used the toshiba recovery disk, but after doing so the laptop no longer loads windows.
When turned on it shows the Toshiba start up disk for about a second then goes to a blank screen and freezes.
When turned off and on again a screen comes up reporting an error in shutting down and gives the options to start in safe mode etc. but choosing any of the options causes the machine to freeze.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
jtHi
Sounds a little bit like the notebook does not boot due to the Windows software issue
Did you recover the M30 with the original Toshiba recovery CD which was supplied with this M30 unit?
Maybe Im wrong but for me it looks like a wrong recovery CD was used and an image with non compatible drivers was installed
You could try to install the OS from original Microsoft Win XP CD and could check if it would be possible to get the notebook ruining using clean OS.
In such case we ( you and me ;) ) could find out if this issue could be related to the software or hardware.

Album view does not render correctly after synced changes
I was correcting the album rendering of some soundtrack albums today and noticed that albums do not group correctly across computers when the metadata is synced using Match. I am hoping someone can confirm they get the same results and possibly offer a fix.
Problem
Forcing a compilation album to render as a single album instead of multiple albums by setting the "Album Artist" and "Part of Compilation" fields does not sync across computers despite the fact that all of the relevant metadata syncs correctly.
Setup
Laptop and Desktop sitting next to each other. Both running Windows 8.1 and iTunes 11.1.3.8 logged into the same iTunes account for all services. (I am curious about running the experiment on all Macs or cross-platform, but all I have are PCs.)
Experiment
Step 1- Pick an album with various artists such as a soundtrack and confirm that it renders as one complete album in "Album" view in iTunes on both computers.
Step 2- Using the desktop, select all songs on the album and change the "Album Artist" field to be blank on all of them by selecting that field and removing the text in that field. Also set "Part of Compilation" on the "Options" tab to "No". Click OK and the album should be rendered as multiple albums for each track on the soundtrack. It is easiest to see this by staying in "Album" view and searching for the album name in the search tool in the upper right corner of iTunes.
Step 3- Go to the laptop and search for the album name in the "Album" view. It will still be rendered as 1 album instead of multiple albums for each track as it is on the desktop. Click on any song on the album and confirm that the "Album Artist" field is blank and "Part of Compilation" is clear (the metadata should sync within a few seconds). With these settings, the album should render as multiple tracks- not a single album. Closing and re-opening iTunes, updating Match or updating Genius does not re-render the album view as separate albums.
Step 4- Using the laptop, set the "Album Artist" field back to "Various Artists". The desktop will get that update, but not re-render the album as single album. The only way to "fix" the desktop is to reset the "Album Artist" field to "Various Artists" from the desktop.
My Conclusion
iTunes renders album views only when a change is made that would result in a change to the view and that rendering is only stored locally. iTunes does not correctly update album rendering when new meta-data that should cause a change in the view is received via Match. This is a problem because you cannot fix an album rendering on one computer and have that correction sync to your other computers. You have to "fix" the view on each computer individually.
Possible Workaround
Turn off iTunes Match and remove the iTunes database and all music on all computers but one. Using the one computer, make all required fixes and then recreate the iTunes database using Match on each of the other computers.
Any help or comments is much appreciated.
-rdI have the same problem with PDFs created in Illustrator CS3. The bitmaps inside the PDF get rendered wrongly -- inverted or decolored.
One fix is to use ZIP instead of JPEG for the compression method when saving the file as an Adobe PDF.
I think it is a bug in Preview 5 (already filed it with Apple). With Preview 4.2 (Leopard) or using Acrobat 8.1.3, the PDF renders fine. -
[Regression] KDE4 does not load anymore after recent kernel update.
Hi,
I have updated my system to latest packages and now KDE4 does not load. i get a Blank Screen.
I can't reach virtual terminals(I tried ALT+F1 to F11, but no response)
Control + ALT + BACKSPACE does not work.
even magic SysRq key(Alt+SysRq+REISUB) has no effect.
So I had to hard reset my machine. somehow I managed to get logs.

T520: Monitor does not turn on after boot or waking from sleep
I have a pretty standard T520, the only modifications are upgrading to a larger battery and higher screen resolution (1600x1200), and am currently running windows 7 64bit. Whenever I turn on the machine from a powered off state, or if I try and wake it up from being asleep, 2/3 of the time the monitor will fail to turn on. I am only able to remedy this by closing the lid, letting it go to sleep again, opening it again, holding down the fn key (if that even helps), and hoping it turns on the next time. On a fresh boot, the screen backlight is on, but there is never anything displayed on the monitor, so I cannot even go in to the BIOS. To get to the BIOS, I have to boot normally, repeatedly open/close the monitor until it displays something, reboot, and hope the monitor is still working after the reboot.
The forum posts I have seen on this topic seem to only relate to this problem with external monitors; however, this is occuring with the laptop monitor itself.
Has anyone else had this issue, or know of ways to correct it?One other note: I am not hearing the hard drive start spinning on the times that the monitor does not turn on when returning from hibernate. When the monitor does turn on, there is the distinct sound of the hard drive starting up, and I can feel a bit of torque within the laptop from the hdd.

Execution does not end even after all records updated..
Hi,
I have plsql code like :
declare
begin
for x in ( select .......) loop -- about 4000 times
for y in ( select ............) loop -- about 50 times
end loop;
-- some code goes here to manipulate clob data
-- like creating free temp clobs - use - then free them
-- Update statement that update some table using clob values.
insert into tablex values(sysdate);
commit;
end loop;
end;
Here I can monitor from other window howmany records are inserted into tablex and howmany updated in update statement by...
select count(1) from tablex;
After 50 mins i can see that all records are updated but...
plsql code does not end its execution it continues even after all records are updated..untill i have to kill the session or let be run for long time.. :(
I can not understand why this it is not ending execution..
What could be the problem ...Hi,
Here it is.....
declare
v_text_data TableA.text_data%type;
v_clob clob;
type dummyclob_t is table of clob index by binary_integer;
dummyclob dummyclob_t;
v_str varchar2(255) := 'ddfsajfdkeiueimnrmrrttrtr;trtkltwjkltjiu4i5u43iou43i5u4io54urnmlqwmreqwnrewmnrewmreqwnm,rewqnrewqrewqljlkj';
begin
select data bulk collect into dummyclob from sfdl_clob; -- five rows containing clob data upto 1MB
for x in (select object_id
from TableA
where object_type = 'STDTEXT' ) loop
dbms_lob.createtemporary(v_text_data,TRUE);
for y in (select '<IMG "MFI_7579(@CONTROL=' || ref_id || ',REF_ID=' || ref_id || ').@UDV">' temp_data
from TableB
where object_id = x.object_id) loop
v_text_data := v_text_data ||
case
when trunc(dbms_random.value(0,7)) = 0
then chr(10)
else v_str
end ||
y.temp_data;
end loop;
select text_data into v_clob from TableA where object_id = x.object_id for update;
if v_text_data is not null then
dbms_lob.append(v_clob,v_text_data);
end if;
dbms_lob.append(v_clob,dummyclob(trunc(dbms_random.value(1, 6))));
dbms_lob.freetemporary(v_text_data);
insert into xyz values (sysdate);
commit;
end loop;
end;
Thanks for your time..:)

Namely, when I create a Division based on a Template (in order to have a given default thumbnail image and description, etc) the Name parameter (the "title" of the Division, which appears next to its icon on the main site page inside the top level Section boxes) is never set correctly. The Name I specify for the Division never overrides the default.
In my example, I try to create a Division with name "Food Science and Human Nutrition." It is based on a Division template with handle 1911155332. The Name of that Division template is "Robot Division" and the ShortName is "RobotDivision".
I am sending the following XML via Web Services:
<ITunesUDocument>
<Version>1.1.3</Version>
<AddDivision>
<ParentHandle>1945525657</ParentHandle>
<ParentPath/>
<TemplateHandle>1911155332</TemplateHandle>
<Division>
<Name>Food Science and Human Nutrition</Name>
<ShortName>FSHN</ShortName>
<Identifier>RobotCourses:FSHN</Identifier>
<Permission>
<Credential>Authenticated@urn:mace:itunesu.com:sites:illinois.edu</Credential>
<Access>No Access</Access>
</Permission>
<Permission>
<Credential>Student@urn:mace:itunesu.com:sites:illinois.edu:RobotCourses:FSHN</C redential>
<Access>Download</Access>
</Permission>
</Division>
</AddDivision>
</ITunesUDocument>
The Division is created and no errors come back. However, when I look at the site, the Name of the newly created Division is "Robot Courses" (not "Food Science and Human Nutrition" as I want). The ShortName IS correctly set to "FSHN" as I specified in the XML.
Incidentally this was part of creating a Course "FSHN 101," the Course is also based on a Course template, but it creates with the Name and ShortName as I desire and there are no other problems - I can log into the Division and Course as expected.
*QUESTION #1: Is anyone else out there ever having this problem?*
*QUESTION #2: Is there anything obviously wrong in my XML?*
I have tried this multiple times, always with the same result. Creating Divisions not based on a template works (but for various reasons we need to be able to use templates). I have been unable to edit the Name after the fact with MergeDivision either.
Our campus Apple contact sent in a ticket about this, but the response from Apple was to post here in the forum, which is monitored. I am unsure if I should post questions of this sort here in the Administrators Forum or in the general forum, for this one I will try both.

Pages does not open anymore after the latest update
I did all suggested problem solving steps, but after the last update Pages does not open anymore.
It opens a window and immediately crashes again.
I paid for it, and I used it for my business - and I'm so angry, that there is no support for apps in fact...Welcome to the Apple Community.
Turn off iCloud for Pages on your mobile device at Settings > Pages > Use iCloud > Off.
Open Pages on your computer and move any documents in iCloud to your desktop for safe keeping.
Navigate to system preferences > iCloud > Manage and check that Pages documents are not taking any space in the cloud, delete them if they are.
Enable iCloud syncing for Pages on your mobile device and launch the App.
If Pages now opens properly, start to add back documents from your desktop one at a time (or in small groups if you have many). -
Iphone 3gs does not turn on after ios 6 update
After the ios6 update, my iphone 3gs does not turn on. I see the apple logo, after a minute, it boots again and i see the logo again. This process seems to continue like a circle. After a search the net, i see that i am not the only one. A quick fix and suggestions please, as i need my phone of course.
Btw, Apple, i know that this is an old hardware and i will buy the new iphone 5 when it is available here in my country in December. But of course, you claşmed this update supports my 3gs, you should immediately find a fix
Regards..Well, i don't see an another solution possible; you should try again and again to restore. Btw, my phone seemed to operate strange (even the stock mail app began to crash) so i tried hard reset (home button + sleep/wake button until seeing the apple logo). After that i found my phone again in dfu mode this night so began restoring again now.
It seems that apple didn't tested ios6 enough with the 3GS. I have a 32 GB phone so this will be near 60 gb download from the icloud over my broadband connection. -
Dear experts
I have two issues for which I seek help.
1. My Microsoft project does not open, hangs, no matter how many times I disable the Options -> Addins -> enable the Disabled file in the Manage options.
I also copied the file and tried. It has no previous versions. Any advice
I plan to open this in 2013 version of Project later but I really need your advice.
RegardsHi Protocoder,
If I understand well, this is a 2013 mpp file that you want to open with Ms Project 2013? Then you get Project hang? Are you using Project Server as well or just the standalone MS Project version?
Can you reproduce this issue with other files or just this file?
Your file might be corrupted, try this
method, export the file as XML and saving it back as mpp.
Hope this helps,
