Epson C84, Leopard Won't Recognize

Tried it all and I can't get Leopard to recognize my Epson C84/USB printer.
There's a Leopard ddriver for this printer. Does it need to be removed. Does the Epson driver need to be removed? Epson support site is not helpful and email support unresponsive.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Jeff D.

Dudley Warner,
Hubs are always a place for potential conflict on the USB Bus.
If removing the hub from the bus resolves the issue here are a couple of tips:
1. Use a powered hub rated for USB 2.0
2. Unplug the hub from power, and the USB bus, and let it sit for about 2 minutes, and then retry with the hub. This resets the hub completely.
However, if it continues to fail, you may be best connecting your device directly to the computer. Several iPod models can use the iPhone's USB cable, so that might be an option.
Hope this helps,
Nathan C.

  • Imovie HD with Leopard won't recognize my Canon ZR40

I have been making movies with imovie HD with Tiger for a long time. I have just now installed Leopard and 10.5.1. Tried to start a new imovie project and imovie won't recognize my canon zr40 which has been working with imovie fine until Leopard was installed. It says no camera attached when I hook it up and try to import. Any ideas? I know it's a Leopard problem since that;s the only thing that has changed in the last couple of years. Hope Apple fixes this because I'm dead in the water here.

Figured it out. From this link:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61603
I had an external HD attached by firewire on back of Mac and camera attached on front of mac and I guess this bus conflicts. Unplugged HD and camera recognition worked. I had this before a long time ago with an isight camera but not since then. Weird.

  • Acrobat Pro 9 and Leopard Won't Recognize Scanner

Hi, I'm new to this forum.
I am running OS 10.5.5 on an iMac (intel core duo processor), and using Acrobat Pro 9.0.0. I have an Epson 1640SU scanner, and it has worked fine through all of OS X including Tiger 10.4.11 and Acrobat Pro 9 on my PowerPC (G4 PowerMac). However, I cannot get it to recognize a scanner in Acrobat Pro. When I go to File, Create PDF, From Scanner I get the Acrobat Scan window but there are no scanners available (under Tiger with Acrobat Pro on the PowerMac G4 this window would then allow me to select my scanner). I downloaded the latest Epson drivers, and the scanner works fine with Adobe Photoshop CS3 (IN ROSETTA MODE). Epson had a note regarding CS3 which indicated to set it to operate in Rosetta mode (whatever that is) and the instructions to do so by checking a box in the Get Info command from the Application Finder window. Acrobat Pro does not have any option like that.
Anyhow, am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else run across this? Is there a solution which allows scanning direct from the Acrobat Pro application?
My current work around is to scan in CS3 or the Epson Scan application then to save the document and then to open in with Acrobat Pro and then to work on it.
Thanks for any ideas, information or assistance.
    Barry

the check mark by the scanner in the system preferences indicates That the driver is active. you wan to uncheck all the scanner drivers except any associated with Epson.
what you do once you get into acrobat, is choose the scan device. which should show (choosing SANE). Now go to File menu and choose make PDF from Scanner. If everything is set you get a menu of whether you want front page only Both and so on there will also in acrobat 9 be some setting for Optical Character recognition and so on.
Then choose to start scan after setting everything. Now you will have to wait for the SANE Scanner menu to come up. choose whether color Greyscale or line art and set the slider for the desired DPI. now hit preview. let scanner scan item them you can click anywhere in the bounding box to make it disappear and you can choose the desired portion of document you wan to scan.
Ok and make sure you down only the versions of the components for the OSX version your using. each is written different according to the OS.

  • "New" Express (A1084) - Leopard won't recognize

    Hi folks -
I bought a believed-to-be-working-and-unused Airport Express, model A1084, today. I swapped out an existing working wireless router and plugged it in. The light went solid green. I then went to my Leopard-based MB Pro and went to the Airport Utility, and it can't find the Airport and keeps asking me to rescan. I put the laptop next to the device; no deal. I tried holding down the reset button while plugging it in: it went green, but still no dice.
Anything else I should try? Really don't want to try to return... thanks!

  • My Bootcamp (OS X Leopard) won't recognize my Windows 7 Installer CD and ejects it. Help!

Hello, I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate on my iMac bought in 2008. Unfortunately, when I clicked Start Installation on the Boot Camp Assistant, it says "The installer disc could not be found. Insert your Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized." The iMac eventually ejects the installer disc.
    Help!

You need to delete files from the hard drive before you upgrade. I believe Leopard requires 9GB of free space, and then you also want at LEAST 10GB free at all times.
Is the disc black with a silver X?

  • Leopard won't recognize commercial dvd's

    Hello.
I first noticed this problem when I first inserted my Leopard installation disc. It didn't show up on the desktop. I then kept the disc inside the machine while I held down the "c" key and restarted. I then got the installation window and went ahead and installed. Whew.
Things seem to work fine with the OS, but now when I insert a commercial dvd ( TV shows on dvd, a self made dvd, or for instance, a new Photoshop Elements 4.0 install disc, which I had to upgrade to today ) the dvd tray doesn't open and close. It opens well with a hard push on the eject button on the keyboard, but only wants to close with little half-hearted closing motions, or if I ( gulp ) push it in manually.
I was able to get the PSE install disc to show in the desktop after a few trys and fortunately, I was able to complete the installation. But when I manage to get a commercially made dvd in the dvd tray nothing happens. It used to just open to the dvd screen and remote controls etc.
I also noticed that when I try to run repair permissions from disk utility, a Sony dvd drive ( looks like the one that came with my power mac ) shows itself on the left pane along with my hard drive. Also, when I try to run repair permissions ( on the hard drive ), the blue and white progress bar just shows blue and white, fast moving and endless waves.
Any help or advice will be much appreciated!

Are you using known high quality jewelcase based media that hasn't been written or labelled on?
Here's a website to find high quality media:
    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia/
Also are you burning at less than maximum speed?
Are you sure the drive is known to handle that kind of media? Look at the System Profiler in Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More Info -> Hardware -> Disk Burning, and read the kinds of media known to be able to be burnt.

  • Can't Install Leopard, Won't Recognize Tiger

Hi - I want to install Leopard on an iMac currently running the latest edition of Tiger (10.4.11 or so?). It meets all of Leopard's tech requirements as well. However, when I begin the process, the Leopard install system says it can't install on my iMac because I'm NOT running Tiger.
This is incorrect - in fact, the iMac came with Tiger pre-installed, and that's the only OS it's ever run. How can I convince the Leopard install disc of this fact? I don't see any options for communication besides the "OK" button. It's doubly frustrating because when it then tells me I have to restart, and asks which disk to boot from, it shows my iMac RUNNING TIGER as one of the options.
Is there a way to tell the Leopard OS disk that I DO in fact have Tiger currently installed?
    Thanks in advance -

I'm most confused - not hard to do on a weekend morning with only one cup of coffee. If you have the retail Leopard installer it doesn't matter what version of OS X your iMac has. I used the same disk to install Leopard on top of 10.3 and 10.4 so something weird is going on. BTW, BootCamp should have nothing to do with it - my own computers had BootCamp beta when I upgraded to Leopard.
What kind of upgrade are you attempting? Archive & Install or Erase and Install? If you are attempting the A&I what the installer might really be trying to tell you is that there's not enough disk space to perform that installation. Then again, I know that Leopard's installer is able to give that error message properly. The installer might be coming across a weird error when it is checking the drive so run Disk Utility and make sure the drive doesn't need to be repaired.

  • 2 things: iPhoto isn't automatically copying all my imported photos into an iPhoto album folder AND ever since i upgraded my MacBook 120GB to Snow Leopard, iTunes won't recognize my iPhone.

So i have a 120GB MacBook that's about 4 years old (just updated to Snow Leopard--been working in Iraq, i'm a little behind).
Never had a problem with it.
I also have an iPhone 4 which i've had for about a year (up-to-date software as of about a month ago).
Never had a problem with it.
I've had iTunes for years of course (up-to-date).
    Never had a problem.
    1.
Now my iTunes won't recognize my iPhone since the Snow Leopard update.
iPhoto will recognize my phone, but iTunes won't.
Went through all the preferrences and i can't find anything that isn't set properly.
iTunes Helper is used during startup.
    Everything seems fine.
    Any help?
    2.
I use a WD external hard drive to back my Mac up every week or so.
I recently realized that half of my pictures from iPhoto are not copied to the external.
    They haven't been transfering over.
So i snooped through my folders and as it turns out, iPhoto hasn't been copying the pictures i import from my iPhone to iPhoto and saving them as .jpg files in the pictures folder (or iPhoto album or whatever) like i think it's supposed to.
My pictures folder has approx half of all my pictures in it, meaning at some point (probably 2 years ago) iPhoto stopped making the file copies of my imported pictures.
    I do not know why.
No idea how to fix it.
If i were able to fix that (with your help), would all the pictures that haven't been copied automatically copy to my pictures folder once i had the issue resolved or would there be a lot of dragging and dropping?
I've been clumsily and sloppily copying all my pictures to a new folder on my desktop and manually transferring that folder to a thumb drive (which i keep in my pocket) and my external (just so i have them in some form) in case my computer crashes or a mortar shell lands on my room and blows my computer up.
Can anyone please help me with any of this?
I can't just stoll down to the Apple store to ask the Genius Bar (I'm in Baghdad) and i don't have Apple Care so no one will help me on the phone when i call Apple.
    Thanks so much.

    hey mill1640,
Did you ever get your iPhone to register with iTunes? I just upgraded as well to Snow Leopard, and my my isn't recognized at all also.
If you did get this resolved, I would appreciate a little suggestion in the right direction.
    Many thanks,
    Josh

  • Just upgraded macbook to Snow Leopard, and now itunes won't recognize my iphone.  I tried turning all off, and on.  I have the newest version of itunes.  Will I have to reset my iphone (and also ipod touch?), and if so, does it mean I lose anything?

Start iTunes.  Make sure you really are running the version you think you are.  Sometimes people end up with two copies, different versions.

You say you are running Snow Leopard 10.6.3.  That version will not run the latest iTunes which requires 10.6.8  If you need iTunes 10.7 you have to be running 10.6.8

  • HT1338 i upgraded from leopard to snow leopard ( i know i am really behind) but now iTunes won't recognize my iPhone. and the updates keep crashing when they are trying to install...help!

I upgraded from leopard to snow leopard. now iTunes won't recognize my iphone, and the upgrading the software keeps crashing.. help!!

Mountain Lion is OS X 10.8
    10.6 was called Snow Leopard.
To use iTunes 10.7 the following is required:
    Macintosh System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor and 512MB of RAM
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
    Safari 4.0.3 or later
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
    Do you use iTunes Match?
That way all of your songs would be matched with the master song on the iTunes servers independently of iTunes on your Mac or PC...

  • When trying to burn a playlist to a blank CD, iTunes 10.3.1 won't recognize the blank CD I've inserted (Verbatim CD-R). I've burned using these CDs before, this is a recent problem. Not the burner, as I can burn using Toast. iMac with Snow Leopard 10.6.8

When trying to burn a playlist to a blank CD, iTunes 10.3.1 won't recognize the blank CD I've inserted (Verbatim CD-R). I've burned using these CDs before, this is a recent problem. Not the burner, as I can burn using Toast. iMac with Snow Leopard 10.6.8

What kind of CD are you burning (Audio or MP3)?
If you're burning an MP3 CD, the songs must already
    be in mp3 format.
If not, iTunes will tell you that you have no songs
    in the playlist.
    M
I was making an audio cd. But I have since found out what the problem was. The files in my PLAYLIST I converted to aiff, since they were SDll files (I thought they were similar to AIFF, and they PLAY on Itunes...just won't burn.) When I selected the songs in the playlist and converted them...I thought all those files were converted, They were not. The converted files went into my LIBRARY, even tho I selected the ones in the playlist...and once I exchanged the SDll versions of the songs in my playlist. THEN they burned fine...but still...it's confusing..you say convert..it says it's been converted..and what they don't say is it's not been converted inside the playlist...where I had selected the songs...It just ADDED aiff versions..but only in the library...Anyway, that's what happened. But it's strange that it PLAYS SDll but won't burn them....and you'd think, logically..the ones you selected would change...but they don't. Playlists are mainly pointers to the actual files I guess...a sort of Alias..
At least it works now. But it's sad that the latest itunes does more, but also does LESS...as I used to be able to burn SDll files. Now I'll have to convert all my files to AIFF, and mp3's as I assume my ipod video won't play anything but mp3's?

My imac (running 10.8) won't recognize one (1) of my two (2) epson artisan 810 printers when I try to add it to my wifi in the "print and scan" utility.  The printer that won't connect was previously connected to a PC running Win7.  Could Bonjour have something to do with this?  Any suggestions on how to correct this would be most appreciated.

  • My old mac and 3g won't recognize my iphone4s - and the new itunes on my pc won't recognize the 3g

Hi, I'm having issues syncing my information from two separate computers to my new phone.
I backed up my old iPhone 3g on my iBookG4. The G4 does not support the iPhone 4s because it's too old and I cannot update to Lion or Leopard because it's too old.
I have a Dell that I bought in 2009 (i know i know, it was cheap and i had to get it for a class i was taking) - anywho, I have downloaded the new version of iTunes for the iPhone 4s and this version of iTunes won't recognize the 3g - I'm guessing because it is so outdated.
So, I can't get the old computer to read the new phone or the new computer to read the old phone.
What I attempted was home sharing with iTunes and that got all my music and apps, but contacts and calendars I can't move.
    Any suggestions??
    thanks.
ps this mac is so old that the letter a just popped off the keyboard

Syncing of devices running iOS4 and higher requires iTunes 9.x and higher.
iOS 4.3 and higher requires iTunes 10.x or higher.
Regardless, iTunes 9.x and 10.x require Windows XP Service Pack 3.
